I needed a tire mounted and this shop was recommended by TireRack as an installer. I usually go to a place I can trust with my wheels, but I wanted to try out some place closer to home. I called in advance to stress that my wheels are not cheap and ask if they could carefully handle my 20" custom finished wheels (which now cannot be matched by any local wheel services and is a huge headache/bill to get fixed properly) and they said they could, no problem. I dropped the wheel off and the tire was shipped from TireRack directly to them. They texted me later that day to tell me one of my wheels had "prior damage" and sent me a picture of a chip in the wheel. The chip was on one of the spokes and CLEARLY fresh, with no dirt in it at all. I am 100% sure that wheel had NO damage when I dropped it off. I told them this, and they denied any wrongdoing. They were untruthful and unapologetic. I contacted Corporate via email including pictures and heard nothing from them. I will never go back here and I advise anyone who cares about their belongings to do the same. I will be making the extra few minutes drive to go to a wheel/tire ship that can take care of my wheels appropriately. I am still dealing with the very expensive headache of getting the wheel fixed and color matched, which can only be done by the manufacturer in California. read more

If you are going to get your car worked on any ware you need to read this.... I had a Groupon for an oil change, I was impressed and disappointed. I had an appointment at 2:00 and I was a little early. They brought the car in to the shop around 2:00. While I was waiting for the service on the car I watched and listened. I am the wife of a motor head, my hubby has been a parts guy in car dealerships for the last 40 years, I hear the stories and I know what's going on. I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the cleanliness in the shop. The staff offered me snacks, coffee or a soda. They also have a shuttle service. The gentleman at the service counter was fun, funny and the way service people should be. My car was there for almost an hour, little long for an oil change but they were carefully looking over the car for anything they could find wrong. That's fine with me.. but an hour for an oil change? They did find several minor issues and they brought me to the car and went over them with me. They were through and ligament with the problems. Then they gave me the estement.... They are nuts... they wanted to charge me $121.00 an hour for labor. I only pay $114.00 at the dealership and I have negotiated that down in the past. I normally pay $80.00 at the dealership. You can do this if you word it correctly. This is why, 75% of the work that dealerships do is warrantee repairs. The manufactures are not going to pay more than the regular shop rate of the dealership. So if the dealership charges you $121 an hour that is what they are going to get to preform warrantee work. If they charge $75.00 an hour in the shop that is all they are going to get from the car manufacturer. Curry's does warranty work and that is why they charge $121 an hour. If you can wait for the repairs, shop around. Check Consumers Checkbook or Angie's list. You can do better for the hourly rate. That is the majority of the expense. If you need you car worked on now, you can trust them, and they are honest. read more

Came here to get nail fixed from my left rear tire and got in pretty quick (no one else before us). Great service. The people here are very happy and excited to have their customers. They offered to have us use their car in place of our car while it was in-service. The place is clean. They have a kids area... that worked great for my 5 year old and 2 year old. I gave them a 4 star bc I am not so sure if they're honest about replacing my tires. The nail was on the side of the tired and they said it is not safe to patch it so replacing it would be the best thing to do. I had an inkling feeling that... I could get away with not buying new tires. Anyway... I purchased the cheapest set of tires for my old Pilot. As a lady driver, I will only come back here if I have to. I had an oil change done, and also asked for them to replace the air filter as I was told elsewhere I needed a new one. This place is great! They have helped me out when I was in a bind twice! Once when I had a flat tire and the other when my battery was dying. On both occasions it was last minute and they were able to accommodate me. The battery was replaced 15 minutes before the shop actually closed!! Brought my Toyota Highlander for an oil change, and to check some warning lights that had come on. Arrived 10AM, greeted by very friendly staff, gave them the keys, sat down in the waiting area and enjoyed the wifi. They had me back in the car in less than an hour! I have used Curry's in Gainesville and Arlington, VA previously for my Mercedes SL600 and Lexus GX460. These guys KNOW service. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Got a Groupon for an oil change. They put the wrong oil in my car, then put the correct oil in the car. Then, as I was driving home I realized bolts were missing from my tires. I never asked for anyone to touch my tires. Apparently, they rotated them for me and "didn't bolt them on tight enough." Then, the newest issue, yesterday, as I was driving home my check engine light was flashing, not just lit but flashing. When they put the correct oil back in my car they hardly put ANY. Been here a few times after moving to MD and previously being a very satisfied customer at the Falls Church location. I purchased a new car and brought it in for an oil change at 1200 miles to flush out the break-in oil. When I made the appointment a week ago, I gave them the details of the new car and asked the gentleman to order in the oil filter, or I could order it myself if they asked me to. I go in today and they said they had no information on my car, no oil filter, and no synthetic 5W-40 oil. Then they proceeded to tell me that I didn't need to change the oil until the manufacturer's recommendation and that I could void my warranty. This is a review of the Gaithersburg location only. The lobby is clean and smells nice. And the employees are nice to you. So, I added a star. My wife and I have been using Curry's in Arlington for about five years. They are expensive, but honest. We moved to Germantown about 9 months ago and have used the Gaithersburg location. I took a 2011 Honda Accord in and was told that I had to use synthetic oil or the warranty would be void. I haven't checked to see if that is true. But, I ended up putting a semi-synthetic in which was only $5 more, instead of $25 more. Then my wife's car had a squealing sound when she started the car cold. I figured we needed a new belt. Took it to Curry's and they wanted to change the water pump which they said was leaking on the belt--for $500 and some change. We got a second opinion from Precision, without telling them that we had already had it looked at. Precision tightened the belt. When I asked if it should be replaced, they said if it loosened up again in the next six months, but that tightening would probably solve the issue since the belt appeared in good condition. Total cost of $70--which is half what it would have been to replace the belt and 15% of what it would cost to replace the water pump. Now I don't know a whole lot about cars. So, I could be wrong about feeling like I've been dealt with dishonestly. Please feel free to contact me if I'm wrong. But, 1) we have never added water to the car outside of oil changes maybe--so I'm skeptical that water is leaking, 2) the car made noise when it was started cold, not when it had been driving and was hot, which is when you would expect the pump to be running, 3) the noise was gone this morning. Bottom line, I no longer trust the manager at the Gaithersburg Curry's. I'm not going to pay premium to feel like I'm being dealt with dishonestly. We have moved our business to Precision. read more

So I approved the work and after they got the old one off they told me they couldn't get the new one on ??? Buyer beware. Curry's in Northern VA was a mom-and-pop that provided pretty good service to cars like BMW and Porsche for many years. 1-2 years ago, they started to expand and opened about a dozen shops in the area. Then they were bought out by a company that still uses the Curry's name but does not provide the same level of quality. Many of the good people who worked for the old Curry's have gone elsewhere, such as at G&C Tires in Chantilly. I used the Curry's in Gaithersburg recently, they are okay for tires, but I wouldn't go further than that. For example, while waiting for my car, I saw that they use cheaper, non-oem parts. Also got a wheel alignment, the rear wheels were off a lot and they offered no explanation such as maybe there were bent suspension components that should be repaired or replaced. read more

Went in with my girlfriend when her car had a blown tire, and Chris was really helpful in getting us set to go again. We were back on the road about two hours after walking in without an appointment, on a Saturday morning. She went back later for a couple other issues and an oil change, and he found a bunch of issues that explained some problems her car had, and explained them and suggested how to split up the repairs to go easier on her budget and free time. Everything was affordable, and we were charged fairly for labor. Friendly, affordable, convenient, and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended for anyone in the area! read more

Mike Dorsey is the best in the business. His customer service is second to none. Everyone I had dealing with at this relatively new location was fantastic. I have been a Currys customer for years . I have to say every service adviser I have worked with has taken the time to explain everything they recommend and making sure the customer is comfortable with the price and the process before the work is done. Currys as a company will also work with you at any of their locations to figure out a way to impact you the least as a customer. They have snacks and drinks in all of the waiting area's I've been in, as well as wireless internet so you can work or surf while waiting. I've met Matt on several occasions and he has always shown a genuine interest in what's going on in his business and making sure customers were taken care of. Judy was very nice and went above and beyond to take care of me while I was at a HPDE event. This is a fantastic company, I'm happy I found them years ago and I'm happy they act like a business should and go out of their way to treat their customers with respect. read more

Mike Dorsey, the manager is personable and very honest and I felt like he and his team did a great job of providing routine maintenance on my 2002 Honda Accord. The short story: I had a horrible experience at Curry's auto service. They just dont have the knowledge they need to fix a car. I would give 0 stars if I could. The long story: I took my Toyota Siena to Curry's auto service because the check engine light came on and the car wasn't driving well. Chris told me it I needed a speed sensor. Ok fine $300 to replace it. I waited while they put it in. Waiting area was comfortable . I thought great problem fixed. I drove my car and right as i started driving the check engine light went on and it was much worse than before. I immediately went back and the mechanic was looking on utube to figure out what went wrong. I was nervous but thought it would be ok and really what choice did I have? They had my money and my car was still broken. He said the after market part must be bad and Curry's told me that they would order a new part and I need to come back when it came in. I waited and waited. They blamed the parts place. I came in and after taking time off Chris said mechanic had family emergency. Ok happens I am patient but starting to get worried. Well next time I come in I am told oh oops we didn't know that the Siena had two speed sensors. So we replaced one but not the problem one. Really? Siena is a pretty common car not rare. Oh by the way it's not our fault because according to Chris he can't be an expert on every car and the car must have another problem like the transmission but we are not sure and it will cost a lot to figure it out so you might want to take it to the dealer. I said ok but I am not happy. I brought my car to you to fix it's been several weeks I took off from work and it's not fixed actually it's worse. He told me still not his fault all defensive and loud so the people in the store could hear and kept repeating that we fixed your car. I am out $300 and it is worse than before. That is not fixed. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!! Update- Chris sent me an insult because of my negative review. So I am still out $ 300 and my car is worse and I am getting insulted on top of that. Bad Experience in June, 2013 and would not go back. They even sent me a postcard asking about my service and I gave them a full explanation and am still waiting for a response or apology from July. Was first in line on a sat. morning for a flat tire that I told them had to be fixed quickly as I was leaving on a trip within the next hour. I was very specific or would have gone somewhere else. Discovered tech taking all of my tires off even though I had showed the person who wrote up ticket the tire with the nail. Tech said ticket indicated rotate and balance to be done on all 4 tires which was not even discussed due to time crunch. Then after waiting almost 30 minutes, was told it would take another 45 minutes to fix flat. If they had just done what I asked, it would have been done in another 15 minutes but I did not have the time to wait longer and left very unsatisfied. And no apology or response to my email complaint that they had asked me for. Lastly, one of the better reviews on Yelp looks like it came from one of their own techs. read more

"Everything needs to be replaced" is the slogan. They do not try to fix anything just replace it. Charges much higher than a dealer. I had an issue with my brake fluid leaking and these guys said to replace power steering hose, pump, rack and pinion. Seat wobbling, yes they will replace that too. Dealer recommended fixing the rack. Got the oil change done here and guess what, they did not bother to fill any fluid. When asked they said the power steering fluid is leaking so why fill it up. A genius I must say. It turned to be a simple power steering seal. Stay away from these guys. read more

I came there with a tire problem and they were kind enough to take a look at the problem, but helped me call their competitor, where I purchased the tire from, to make sure I had warrantee coverage. Well turned out that I did and they sent me there to get what I deserved. They easily could've just sold me a new tire but because of their honesty and kindness, I returned the following week with my PT Cruiser to get the rest of the servicing I needed on my car and they sure gave me an unbeatable quote. Mike Dorsey is the model service rep. Before I begin, I have to let you know that I haven't even paid a dime to Cury's or had my car serviced at this location yet! I've taken my BMW to Curry's twice now, and each time, Mike gave me a no BS assessment and told me that the problem wouldnt be fixed by the service I'm asking Curry's to perform on my car. Mike ACTUALLY told me that it would be a waste of my money! I thought my car needed an alignment and tire rebalance. Instead of just taking my money, Mike took a test drive with me and told me to take my car back to BMW and get my rims repaired. The second time, I did need an alignment, but again, Mike suggested that I first get BMW to replace my front tire before alignment. I have now just gotten BMW to replace my tire for free, and I will now be going back to Curry's to get my car aligned. My wfie has been so impressed by Mike, that she's already declared that as long as Mike is working there, she'll be taking all of her cars to Curry's of Gaithersburg read more

Felt like Danny and Matt treated me like my brothers would! I have a 1998 Toyota Camary with 150k miles and I'm not looking to sink a lot of money into it. So when my air compressor had to be replaced and my regular auto shop quoted me a $1,300 estimate to replace it, I wanted options. Got none from my mechanic. So went online to do some research and learned that people were bypassing the air compressor and living without AC. So if figured I deal with windblown hair if it could save me a grand. Several auto shops said they wouldn't bypass the air compressor and that replacing it was my only option. Sears Automotive referred me to Curry's. Danny and Matt were open to the idea of the bypassing the air compressor with a belt that ran directly from the alternator to the pulley. They ordered the belt and had my car fixed and ready to go in half an hour. They suggested I keep an eye on the new belt to check for fraying and they suggested I bring it in in a week or so to make sure it's all going well. The total cost came to less than $105. Needless to say, I have a new "regular mechanic shop". read more

The engine light on my wife's car came on just in time for the emissions inspection and I decided to give this place a try. I went in at 9 and was told it'll take 1.5 hrs to do a diagnosis and an oil change. I said fine and walked over to lakeforest mall. An hour later, they called to tell me what the problem was, a stuck VSV, which I suspected was the problem anyway. I told them to go ahead with the repair. Forty five minutes later, I get the call that my car is ready for pickup. All in all, it was a smooth experience unrivaled by any other mechanic shop. I am not one to care about the frivolous niceties like being offered coffee, candy, etc etc while I wait. However, I do care about being dealt with honestly. Their prices were fair and they didn't try to sell me services I didn't need. Needless to say, I'll be visiting them again. read more

They have always been honest in there recommendations and the prices are average. The place is clean, and the staff is pleasant and customer service minded. The price for changing one headlight bulb is weigh too high. The shop waited 15 minutes for someone to bring in the new bulb for my car. The installation only takes 5 minutes. The bulb is only $9, but it charges me 40 bucks for labor. I will never come back again. read more

Bait and switch, dishonest business, not recommended. I took my Prius there for repair today. While I was waiting in line, another customer showed up with one of Curry's "online tire special" and would like to have his tire changed based on the special pricing, the service rep looked at the customer's cellphone and told the customer that the ad was not accurate and the actual price is $100 more than what's on the website. Furthermore, the rep told the customer that the business has no control of what's on the website...(really...that's your website) Then he just brush off the guy and went on to their business without offering any solutions or addressing the issue...after seeing this...I felt that I shall take my business somewhere else. Last but not least, there's really no point of taking my car here at the first place, the Toyota dealership a few blocks down charges only $121 for diagnostic while Curry bills me $131...with the same price, I would pick dealership instead of an independent shop. read more

Reliable and honest - this is my preferred spot for car repairs (EVAP Canister) and maintenance (tires, oil change, etc.).

My wife took her car two times to the Gaithersburg, MD location for a check engine light. She was lied to and charged for work that did not need to be performed, just for the light to come back on immediately after driving the car both times. After taking it back to be looked at for a third time and being given more lies and more stories she decided to take the car to the dealer to get a second opinion. Where she learned the work that was performed by Curry's not only did not need to be performed it needed to be undone to be fixed properly. At this point we have calls out to the District Manager and Corporate to make them aware of the situation as the dealer documented everything in hopes to make a wronged situation right. read more

I made an online appointment at 1 pm and they confirmed me by email and when I went there the guy at front desk told me this is wrong and they can not do oil change before 2:30 to 3:00 pm so whats the point of online appointment. Very bad experience at the Gaithersburg shop. Overcharged for sub-standard parts on one visit and they did not stand behind their tire warranty from a previous visit. Had two independent mechanics check out the car after the ride was substantially worse after they replaced our struts. Both mechanics reported that inferior parts were used and we were charged more than the going rate for both parts & labor. Curry Auto is fully staffed with employees who are very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly professionals. I purchased Pontiac G6 car in GA a few years that did not come with front license plates. I've found out that having front license plates is a MUST in Maryland. I got a ticket and a warning on the same week and trying to find an auto shop that is open on Saturdays in the later afternoon was tough! Not only are most shops closed on Saturdays, but the few that are open close around noon. For those of us that have to work on the weekends, finding an auto shop that was open till 4 p.m. was great! I arrived at Curry Auto right before closing time, but the staff and the manager Mike, we happy to help me drill holes and put plates in my car. (Yes, the car did not have holes for me to place my plates so I wasn't about to drill holes myself and end up messing up my car.) This was the first time I came in to this shop and the staff and manager made me feel very welcomed as if I was some "preferred" or "elite" customer even though it was the first time coming to this shop. The price was right for the job and friendly service all the way makes me want to rate this place as "superb". Not only do I recommend Curry Auto for all of your car needs, but I will become a repeated customer. read more
