I was in dealership service for my car 50k Milage repair they quoted me $750 ... called 10 different store out of them all were around $450 price range but Cho said it might be $250ish but he will give me exact price after he look at my car and see what need to be changed . Did make a appointment and went there he gave me a call after 30 min saying all i need is around $120 service and recommended tire change in future ( keep in mind that $750 from dealer doesn't include tire replacement) ... so basically my point is he is honest and in the point what needs to be done with your car ...I own 3 cars all are definitely going to him for service from this day Thank you so much for honesty read more

Never took the car to the shop...Cho wouldn't accept it! I called to verify times of service and explained my problem. Let him know that I needed to coordinate with AAA. Called back to set things up and Cho accused me of telling him something different between calls!!!!! I'm no mechanic, just trying to explain the problem. He said,"No, no can't take your car. Needed trans service to include trans filter for '08 Lexus LX. For this vehicle in particular, it's a job that requires great precision and care. They did a perfect job. If I could give this business 100 stars, I would. Mr Cho looked over my car and found a significant problem that should not be occurring with a car of low mileage. Instead of taking the job (and our $$), he recommended that we take the car back to the dealership to see if they would do anything. He said that if he touched it, then they could blame the issue on someone else. And...get this...he did not even charge us for the assessment. This is about 7 months overdue. I went to this place twice to have Mr Cho (I think this is his actual name...) inspect two separate used Prius Vs that I was considering to buy. Both times, he spotted major issues with the cars that the dealers claimed were in "excellent" condition and told me that "if you were a family member, I would tell you not to buy this". I loved his body language too. He looked down. Shook his head and delivered that line, almost reluctantly. It was sweet. The second time, the actual dealer had come with me and he still told me not to buy the car, after he pointed to the part of the engine with the leak he had spotted. He charged me nothing. Nothing. On both occasions. I hope only wonderful karma flows his way. He saved me from 000s of dollars in repairs down the road. Since then I bought a small new car. While washing my car later in the evening I discovered a dent on my trunk that wasn't there. I followed up on with a call and of course they claimed ignorance on any incident. I am really surprised that this business gets good reviews. They clearly do not want your business. That is obvious by their attitude and demeanor when you walk in. I took in a Kia Sorrento that has a squeaky suspension. They said the car needed new front struts. Cho was not willing to order the parts and reluctantly gave me a list and told me to order them and he would do the work. I ordered the parts and took the vehicle back to have the work done. The final bill was more expensive than a dealer. Now the squeaky suspension is even louder. Cho now says he doesn't know what the problem is and can't fix it. I doubt the car needed the new struts in the first place. I asked to see the old parts but was not shown them. Cho clearly does not want business, over charges, and does not have the ability to fix the problem. Bottom line, I got ripped off. Avoid Cho Auto! read more

I am a former race car engineer that has built and maintained all sorts of engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc. Have been using Cho's Auto for 10+ years for my personal vehicles. I have never had any issue with the quality of their work. All have been serviced well and correctly. The biggest positive for Cho's Auto compared to virtually every other dealer or auto repair shop: Honesty I recently had the AC on my SUV fail. I had the SUV at the dealer for my free lifetime oil change(add on value when I purchased the SUV) and asked them about the AC. The dealer wanted $2500 to replace the AC. I took the SUV to Cho's Auto. They diagnosed it as a simple gasket leak that they replaced for $110. read more

Life is full of "firsts" and my initial visit to Cho's Auto Service chalked up a memorable one. After making an appointment a few days ahead of time, I dropped off my vehicle in the morning for some routine maintenance including a oil change, but more importantly a brake check, just to be safe. By mid-afternoon, it was ready to go and I walked into the shop expecting to put a typical dent in my credit card, as per every other mechanic visit I've had over the years when additional "concerns" and "recommended services" magically pop up out of nowhere. As I braced myself, waiting for the inevitable bad news, Mr. Cho explained they completed the oil change/fluid checks, but that my vehicle needed no other services, including no new brake pads/rotors. What!? No additional services needed!? And my bill was less than $30 total? I almost had to grasp the counter with both hands to avoid passing out from complete shock. First visit, yes, but certainly not the last. I'll be back! 4.5 Stars. read more

I've been going to Cho's for the past 5 years for work on my Honda Odyssey and Toyota Highlander. They are very good at diagnosing problems and fixing what is wrong, and do not fix things that are not wrong. Many times Larry will tell me that the brakes are wearing, and will need to think about fixing them the next oil change or so. Definitely the place to go for maintenance on your Japanese or Korean cars (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Hyundai, Kia). Trustworthy and not exorbitant - exactly the opposite of what you get at the dealership (or "STEAL"-ership!). 5 stars!! read more

It's a small business located near the train tracks in Old Town Gaithersburg- not the best looking shop but the quality work and reasonable prices provided overshadow that. After fleeing Curry's Auto for quoting me $1300, I stumbled across Cho's Auto as they were getting ready to close for the day. Larry, the owner, is a very straightforward, open and honest kind of person-- all things you would never associate with a mechanic. He doesn't recommend services that your car doesn't need and he's not out to get every dime you've ever made. My car was in and out the very next day with the appropriate repairs at only a fraction of what the other place was going to charge. Simply amazing! Larry Cho is the best in the business and as honest as they come! After years of hearing friends with Odysseys rave about him, we finally had a need for his service - our 2010 Odyssey had a problem with it's back hatch latch mechanism after rear glass was replaced by a hack glass shop (see my other review so you can be sure to avoid Auto Glass Experts - a serious misnomer!) and shards were left in the door. After a couple days, a shard or two jammed in the latch and they could not be removed by my unskilled hands... in comes Larry Cho. We dropped off the car at 10 am, he took a quick look, told us he could work on it around noon, then called us that it was fixed by 1 pm. In the meantime, I called Criswell Honda's Service Department and they quoted labor for the job at about $350 + $125 for a new actuator (very high price if you search the web!). Larry's price - $29.50!!! Less than $30 bucks! Wow! A savings over the dealer of over $440! I will recommend Cho's to everyone I know with a Honda, Toyota or similar make of vehicle. I am sure he could do wonders on your American models as well. read more

I knocked my sideview mirror off and was holding it on by duct tape. After doing a general yelp overview I picked a few places to go to for estimates. I visited 5 different repair shops in and around Gaithersburg and Cho's won. They estimated just the price of the sideview mirror. They did a great job and I will be going there any time my Honda needs Maryland service... too bad I'm in LA now... oh well Still worth a visit! Took a used car we were thinking of buying to Cho's for a once-over, based on a quick Yelp search for a local mechanic who worked on Japanese cars. As others have described, "no nonsense" is pretty spot on for his demeanor. But he squeezed us in with no appointment, reviewed the car and gave us a list of his concerns and rough estimates to fix. And he didn't even charge us! Over the phone, he'd said it would be about $40 to look the car over (a bargain, and I would have happily paid), but he waved us off with his advice and said "don't worry about it."
