If you've given a five review on this place then you've clearly not eaten good curry. I have eaten a lot of curry all over the world and this is the most tasteless effort i have ever had. It has barely any flavor and is very watery. Take yourself down to the Taj on Baseline and Broadway for an authentic flavorful experience where the flavors are deep thick and rich. For takeout, the chicken dishes had a few pieces of chicken and tons of sauce. The sauce wasn't terribly favorable (tiki masala and vindaloo). Cauliflower/potatoes had similar tomato sauce when it really shouldn't have any at all. Too much sauce too. Even chickpea dish had way too much sauce and few chickpeas even though those are cheap. The Gist: Two full dinner specials with naan, somosa, entree, and ambrosia for $20! Great deal, great food, and great service! The Breakdown: My wife and I have tried most of the Indian restaurants in most of the cities we've lived in (read: many), and this is one of my favorites. The prices are low, the portions are big, and the food is good and flavorful. I had the chicken tikka masala (as I do everywhere to gauge how I'll like a place) medium and it had quite the kick. I usually get it spicy but this place runs a little hot, so medium was perfect. My wife got the Chicken Vindaloo and really enjoyed it. Both meals came with a good portion of naan, a samosa, sauces, and a little cup of ambrosia which was a nice treat. Cost at most other places: Chicken Tikka Masala $12 Chicken Vindaloo $12 2 orders of Naan $7 Samosas $5 Ambrosias $4 ----- Total $40 Total here $20 Awesome! read more

Understand first that from the outside, this looks like a pizza joint where you order by the slice. However nothing could be further from reality. The interior is nothing fancy but serviceable in decor and spotless in appearance. The food is very, very good and the prices (especially for Boulder: the 24 square miles surrounded by reality {who else would decide to go into the utility business??Don Quixote?}),- OUTSTANDING. Perhaps the next outstanding feature of the place is their website. They use a service/plugin called OrderAhead that is awesome. You select, customize, place & pay for your order via a browser. Then at the appointed time show up and pickup your meal. I did that tonight and it worked brilliantly. Pulled in, walked in, picked up and drove away in about 2 min. with and outstanding meal for 3 people. What could be better? They did forget one Nan but that was nothing compared to the overall transaction. My second meal here; definitely a keeper. read more

After trying all the Indian restaurants in Boulder, Curry n Kebob wins, hands down! Their lunch special is the best option. It comes with naan, rice, a veggie fritter and dipping sauce, a bit of canned pineapple for a sweet finish and of course your choice of entrees from a small selection. It's a great price at $7.95 for the whole thing. Personally, I think you can't go wrong with the chicken makhani. The atmosphere is simple and casual, but the food makes up for an ambiance you feel you may have missed elsewhere. My only complaint is that the dinner option is identical, but a higher price. Now, fair warning, I had this dining experience after a long day at work, during which my food intake wasn't exactly what one would call stellar. I was hungry, very hungry. That being said, this was a fantastic dining experience. Well, wait, let's try that again. Curry N Kebob isn't fine dining, it is more like some tables stuffed in front of a kitchen in a strip mall. ( I've always hated the phrase "strip mall.") I'm just trying to manage your expectations here, cuz atmosphere isn't exactly the strong point. But does it need to be? As far as I'm concerned, this is the only place to eat Indian style food in Boulder. Instead of a crappy buffet, they serve up thali plates, just like in India. The owner is always on hand and the food is always delicious. Try extra spicey if you really want flavor. It makes you realize how boring western food can be. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Ordered online through their Hungrybuffs service-- where I found there was no tofu button. I figured, hey, no problem. Their online ordering system on their own site is the same and I've dealt with it before. So I note "sub coconut milk, NO MEAT, if you have tofu please add it". The delivery arrives and I find that the restaurant has put chicken into the curry but substituted coconut milk just fine. I figure no big deal, they probably made a mistake in the kitchen. Tell my friend to stop freaking out and call Curry n Kebob. The man on the line was rude and condescending, offering no help nor answers for our problem, repeatedly insisting that there was a tofu option when you can clearly see in the attached screenshot that there is not. He told me "we don't have time to read the comments" when they had clearly had time to read the "sub coconut milk". As a person who has worked in the customer service and restaurant industries for YEARS, this is not how you treat customers. I was not asking for much, just some help in terms of answers as to what had happened, as their menu stated they are "vegan and vegetarian friendly" and that "any dish can be made vegan when requested". I've had take-out at this new hole-in-the-wall three times. I've ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala, Shrimp Tikka Masala, all medium spice level. Have also had Lamb Samosa, and Vegetarian Samosa. Plus Naan, both garlic and plain. All ready within 10 minutes. All entrees were absolutely superb. (Tons of juicy Tandoori chicken and big portions of large shrimp). Samosas were very good, the traditional Vegetarian (potatoes tumeric etc.) slightly better than the Lamb (a touch greasy). The Naan was excellent plain, but the garlic version was a disappointment: it was the regular Naan slathered with MUCHO fresh raw garlic. I demand a love of garlic from any person I call friend, but when ordering this I'd expected that the garlic would be cooked into the Naan. It was much too strong raw. The best sign of a good ethnic restaurant: people of the restaurant's ethnic group eating at the restaurant. Every time I've picked up my to-go order, the mix of diners and people waiting to pick up has been around 60% Indian. The big plus: if you, like me, support family-owned local businesses and like great service, than you can't go wrong here. I don't know the owner's name, but the first time I walked in to order, he was very helpful with the menu and was very concerned that I understood that "medium spice" was SPICY. As others have pointed out, the spice scale here is pretty damn high, which is awesome. I love, and am acclimated to, spice, and medium level is perfect for me at this place. A light breaking sweat, a little nasal congestion. But if you are a genetically twisted capsaicin-loving freak, go for the hot! I can't imagine... Etc.: Haven't eaten in-house, but decor and ambiance are nil. Think diner with one paper napkin per place setting. Might be good for lunch though. read more

After hearing such rave reviews from coworkers and fellow yelpers, I decided to give this place another try. I tried it again and have been back many times. I have ordered the Chicken Mahkni, Chicken Kebob, Chicken Vindaloo. Unlike our first visit, the food was flavorful and perfectly spiced. I typically order my food medium and the heat level has been consistent. The Chicken Mahkni was delicious. The sauce had the right balance of tomato and cream and I mopped up every last bite with the fluffy crispy-edged naan. The Chicken in the Kebob is rolled in herbs and is tender and juicy. The service has been great. It's quick, which is really all you can ask for a casual joint. The lunch and dinner specials are a great deal. They come with a side, rice, and a dessert. The food is delicious, really generous servings and so so cheap! Naan, rice, curry, onion ring thing for $10.50!! Eat in or take away is the same price. We had a aloo naan and meat samosas plus the special dinner one with chicken masala and the other with chicken daanaska. Didn't quite manage to finish it all cause it was so big! But they have take away boxes readily available because most people can't finish the whole lot! This is easily my favorite restaurant in Boulder. Everyday they have 6 specials on their board for both lunch and dinner. Three meat specials, three vegetarian specials. I have never had a bad meal here in my over 10 visits to those location, and that's saying a lot considering I've lived in Boulder for only 3 weeks. Yummy! I have tried over 4 of their dishes and I each one was amazing. I frequently eat here 3 to 4 times a week. They know my order by heart at this point. So went there the first time and for the most part can be considered Indian/Ethic food. Only concern was the Nihari. Like the idea of being gluten free but Nihari (traditional requires some form of flour) was not actually Nihari but more like Goat Karahi and was very disappointed when it came to the table. Friend had Chicken Masala and had good things to say. Depending on your eating habits portions are good for 1 and possibly up to 2 servings. Quick service too. When ever I come to Boulder I enjoy a meal here. They offer a good solid selection of food at a really reasonable price. My favorite is the chicken masalas. You get to choose your spice level. I go with medium, but I can't take much heat. Be aware they close from 2 to 5ish each day so no mid afternoon meals. Enjoy! read more
