OK, we've been here about a dozen more times, and several of the dishes are excellent - you just have to know what to get. In general, the vegetarian entrees are all spectacular: Saag Paneer, Bharta Makhni, Chana Masala, Malai Kofta, etc. Whenever we order chicken it is usually a bit dry and overcooked (in Chicken Tikki Masala). The naan is just mediocre - it is a bit on the dry side and not that flavorful, but it's not bad. The daal soup is very disappointing - the daal at Gurkhas has a lot more flavors (cilantro, garlic, spice). It is always crowded but the service tends to be pretty efficient which is the opposite of the norm for restaurants of this cuisine! The service is also a bit curt and not that friendly but they're not rude either and they're just trying to get through all the orders. I've tried every Indian/Nepalese restaurant in Boulder, and overall Curry N Kebob is one of the top four places, along with Gurkha's, Tiffin's, and Nepal Cuisine. read more

After they expanded, we went back to Curry N Kebob, and it's become our go-to for Indian food in Boulder. The food is delish, the larger restaurant more accommodating to our kids, and the staff and service have improved. While we normally order Chicken Masala for the kids and Chicken Kebob for my hubby, I order off the menu. Tasty food but shockingly rude staff. This story is crazy, so read until the end! I'll preface this by pointing out that I've worked in the service industry off and on for 15+ years. Some of my favorite restaurants have staff who simply get the job done, and don't go above and beyond to creat a warm and welcoming atmosphere. These places are often my favorite. The food is the star, its usually busy so staff work their butts off to get the food from point A to point B. The unwritten rule of "you get what you pay for" applies to staff too, and whenever I'm confronted with rude staff I usually try and put myself in their shoes, and give a pass because services provided usually have a correlation with how much you get payed. So needless to say, I've never written a Yelp review, and I can't remember the last time I've felt the need to let others know how awful staff had treated me. When we first arrived the guy taking our order (you'll know him because he stands probably 4'10") held up his finger at us, without looking at us, without saying a word to us, and continued talking with another staff... for atleast 30 seconds. It just stood out because I don't think it's ever happened to me, and I'm 40 years old. Then after each question we asked about the menu, he would pause, roll his eyes, and then give a couple word answer. He wouldn't speak any louder, and after a few times asking him to speak loud enough for us to hear, we just quit and ordered something else. The whole vibe was that of a teenage foodcourt worker at the mall from some 80s movie, who was way too cool to be working the register and trying to impress friends by showing how disinterested she was. Again we've all had some variation of service like this, but this was so over the top you couldn't help but feel like this little guy was truly disgusted with you. And since it started within a few seconds of us being there, it's not like we'd given any reason for him to treat us this way. A short while later he brought us out our food, and messed up our order. Totally normal, and something I've personally done many times, but he made a point of insisting that we had made the mistake. Not a huge deal, but since I was the one ordering I knew I had told him correctly. Language barriers are a real thing, and 99 times out of 100 I would feel total empathy and I'd rush to assure the staff that it was a misunderstanding, a language barrier and that they were doing awesome, but in this case he was simply too busy trying to show his co-workers how much of a bother we were to him by ordering food, that he messed up half our order. Okay, so you're probably saying to yourself, this isn't that bad, just massive douche working the register who was having a bad day? And I would have thought the same thing, until after our meal we go back to get to-go boxes, and the other male worker started in with the same exact behavior. I ask for 3 to-go containers, the ones with a lid because we had three different curries and didn't want to spill, and he just stared at me like I'd asked for his first born child. So he rolls his eyes and like out of some angsty teen movie, sort of huffs and hands me one. At this point it's almost comical, I'm thinking this has to be the strangest service I'd ever had. So I say to him "I need two more, we ordered 3 curries" aside from other things and I didn't wanna just dump 3 different dishes and make one big soupy mess. So the guy hands me one more! So now I'm kinda over the whole thing, at first you're thinking "okay, maybe this is their shtick, like the appeal of having a grumpy bartender can be fun sometimes", but now I'm like just give me enough to-go things so I can get out of here. He says to me that I can't have a third to-go container for the third curry because I'd reached my limit. I start laughing, out of words and more or less embarrassed now realizing I'm pleading with them, and they for the first time seem to be enjoying their job and having fun with this. I'm trying to explain that we ordered 4 entrees along with sides, and just need one more so that everything will fit. The 4'10" guy then comes up while eating food, and no joke after taking his last bite starts LICKING HIS FINGERS clean (not even gonna get into how disgusting that is during Covid) and is giggling at the spectacle. I finally give up and leave, but when I come outside and tell my friend let's just leave its not worth it, she isn't having it and goes back in to try and make sense of it. A third staff member, a nicer lady who was trying to help, came over and my friend explains how over-the-top rude the guys were, starting from the second we stepped to the register. My friend explains we just need another to-go container, since we ordered enough food for 4 people. They said no, we beged to buy one, they then gave us one. As we left they were literally laughing and waved goodbye. In the end it felt a lot like school yard bullies. Truly one of a kind experience! read more

This place is decent, the quality isn't true Indian food (and that's coming from an Indian myself lol). The service is always great and employees are always waiting to help you with your needs. And in terms of overall cleanliness; the tables are kept clean and the atmosphere in the restaurant is great and calm. You would think good indian food in boulder would be easy to find, but it's turned out to be quite a challenge. Wedged between dominoes and a nail salon in a strip mall, you wouldn't expect CnK to be impressive. But it is. Great family owned indian place with some of the best basmati rice I've ever had. I did a sit down dinner, ordering a special meal with a lassi. Everything was fresh, and the pakora plum sauce tasted homemade. Pros: - Cheap (solid meal under or around $10) - Fast (sitting down, I had my plate in less than 10 minutes) - Delicious - Good enough that other Indian folks were eating there. (As a white girl, I can't say it tasted like mom's, but it looked like some other patrons could have.) Cons: - Atmosphere (Still looks like a strip mall joint. Not dressed up at all.) - Not super GF friendly (If you know how to order you'll be fine. However, the owner was pretty taken aback that I couldn't eat naan. I know. It's a travesty. (edited from 3 star. Explained at the bottom) The food is astonishingly good. It's flavorful and, me being gluten and dairy free, it's becoming my boulder fallback food-stop. Even for those not gluten/dairy free, it's fantastic based on the responses from all my friends. I've been introducing the place to as many people as I can purely out of selfishness--just to have an excuse to come back. Lamb malaya ftw. The prices are decent, and the service generally good. The reason I can't give the 4/5 stars is not because of any negative experience with the food, but with one particularly...uncomfortable service experience. Basically, I walked in and the place was packed except for the strip of tables in the middle of the room. I was eating in, so I sat down in the corner of the only available table of 6(separate-able tables, nonetheless). The lady, owner or worker I don't know, walked up to me and was terribly concerned. She asked me if I was alone. I said, "Yes." She was like, "no no no." She waved at the table like I hadn't realized that there were 6 seats here, and I was one. She could have just separated the tables? Anyway, she did it again. She told me I couldn't sit there. So I asked her, "Where do you want me to sit, then?" As if just realizing I had no other place to sit, she looked around--and found a seat for me. With 2 other people. In the restaurant booths. They were fine with it; I was uncomfortable, but what the heck. Anyway, about 10 minutes pass and no one serves me. The other booth occupants leave, and only then does the server realize that I'm not part of the other party. He was very apologetic, but IMHO, it was their responsibility after my treatment to make sure that I was served. Since, I've come back several times. I brought friends the next time. Six, to be exact, and I did have some mild feelings as she had to confirm that I indeed had 6 people coming to the table. This was enough for me to knock this down another star. I mean, if I'm supporting their business so much by coming several times a week, and bringing all my friends, you'd think she'd smile at me like she was happy I was there--even if she isn't? With that response, I was ready to return the rating to a 5 star immediately, and I didn't even plan on redeeming the offer since I do like supporting small businesses that are trying. But... Negative: I went in today and met up with some friends. Unfortunately, no food showed for 25 minutes, and we inquired. Apparently, the ticket was lost. My friends were on a time crunch, so they asked for their order to be taken to-go instead. About 10-15 minutes later, they were told that the order was "being made right now." Why the dish wasn't prioritized immediately, I can't say. Anyway, I encouraged my friends to stay even though they were running late, just a couple more minutes. They received their food and when no bill came with it, I offered to take care of it in case it wasn't on-the-house as could be implied by the lack of bill coming with the to-go order. Based on the 45 minutes total of wait time, I thought it was reasonable. When the bill came, their order wasn't listed--again, making me feel as if the restaurant was working well on the customer service. But, just to be sure, I inquired. And nope, it was an oversight. I ended up footing the full bill for my friends as well as my order. Not to say that I expected anything, or that I do expect anything further for this event, but I'm pretty certain that based on my experiences, mistakes are common at this restaurant on the customer service side of things. Wow. After eating here for the first time, I ended up going back 4 more times in a two week span. I haven't had much experience with Indian food, so I wasn't sure what to expect at first. This place has set the bar very high for my experience with Indian restaurants. The chana masala lunch special was mouth watering good! Each time I go there, I can't stop eating because the food is so tasty and flavorful, so I walk away over-stuffed and completely satisfied. The service is extremely fast, pleasant and polite. There are really cool decorations, tapestries, and artwork on the walls. The dining area is very clean and the workers in dining area are always on their toes when a table gets up. I highly recommend Curry and Kebab to anyone, especially those who have yet to experience Indian food. read more

Visiting Boulder from Seattle for work. Drove by and decided I was in the mood for Indian food. Was a little worried it looked like fast food. It wasn't. It was GREAT. Very friendly and helpful staff. The chicken Marsala was absolutely delicious and came with three little sides plus non bread and rice. Lots of food for a good price and very fun. The homemade tea was also very good. The booth was comfortable and the ambiance was nice. Quiet so easy to talk. No annoying tv or music. This is hands down my favorite place in Boulder to eat for lunch! Their lunch specials are fantastic! It's not authentically spicy like I had hoped when I heard it was 5 star rated but the flavors are always spot on. Spices are fresh and vibrant. I typically going with the Chicken Mahkini and get it extra extra hot but most of my co-workers are content with medium. Depends on your preference. All the lunch dishes come with rice, a small thing of candied fruit as a palette cleanser and a fried onion fritter. I don't like onions but that fritter is incredible. And did I forget to mention the naan? Good god the naan bread is some of the best I've had. Fresh from the oven every time. This is a MUST TRY if you live here or are in the area! read more

If you are looking for Indian food that is quick and easy to obtain, Curry N Kebob is a great place. Flavor wise it's "ok" but is a good value considering the "fast service" style cuisine offered. Do not expect very rich, highly complex dishes, but you can expect decent food, quickly. Friendly people, upbeat service, super delicious (and hot) food. The atmosphere is a bit noisy and chaotic near the counter, but it's all part of the experience. The menu is simple, the chai and mango lassi are outstanding and there is usually enough seating. We arrive at 11am to avoid the crowd and then order as many chai teas as possible. We drove from Westminster specifically to eat at Curry N Kebob. Thanks to Yelpers for leading us to a delicious lunch. Curry N Kebob is located in a little strip mall and you walk in and place your order at the counter. The menu changes frequently and the chalk board on the wall indicates what items are available that day. The day we arrived there were 3 meat-based dishes and 3 vegetarian options. Each entree is served with naan, rice, a fried onion patty with a delicious dipping sauce, and a rice pudding. You choose whether you want your dish mild, medium, or hot. For roughly $8 you get one hell of a meal. I chose a chicken dish which was similar to chicken tikka masala. The chicken was nice and tender and served in a deceptively large silver dish. There was enough for two people to eat. That meant leftovers we were able to take home! The service is very friendly and they are willing to explain the dishes or answer any questions regarding dietary options that you may have. We also found out that the owner used to own Yak & Yeti in Westminster. No wonder it's so delicious! read more

The top non-buffet indian restaurant in the Boulder area. This place has the flavors spot on for your favorite dishes and is very affordable. First thing to discuss, this place is unique in how they operate. They do not offer a buffet. They do have a menu you can order from, although I rarely do so. What makes them unique is their lunch and dinner specials. Every day, they have 6 to 7 entrees on special, 3 of which are always vegetarian. The special is $8 at lunch and $10 at night. It comes with a large helping of your entree, rice, naan, an onion baaji or pakora, and fruit (normally a small dish of pineapple). kind of fun! The vegetarian options are normally chana masala, aloo gobi, and mushroom mutter. I have tried all three and like all three. My favorite is the chana. It is a thin sauce with tons of chickpeas. The flavor is phenomenal. I think this is my favorite version of this dish I have ever had. The chickpeas do tend to be more on the crunchy side, but the flavor of the sauce makes up for it and if you take home leftovers the chickpeas will be amazingly soft the next day. The aloo gobi would be my second favorite. It is very veggie heavy with large pieces of cauliflower and potato. This sometimes makes it hard to eat, but the flavor is delicious. If you order the chai, note that it has good flavor but is a little less sweet than some and comes out piping hot! The atmosphere of this restaurant is very casual. Tile floor and cushion-less seats. You step up to the counter to order and they bring the food out to you. The restaurant is always busy, because it is so good and affordable. There is normally a large staff working and they are efficient if a little cold at times. read more

Visiting from NY and curios about Boulder's ethnic food scene. Saw all the great reviews so decided to give it a try. I must say the food was a little disappointing probably because of high expectations I see after reading the reviews. I got the lunch special and yes for $7.95, very good value. Although the chicken didn't have any taste and was a bit dry. Naan was pretty good. Hubby ordered off regular menu and I thought maybe his food is better, but not much better. I did like the chai tea. I would give this place 3.5 stars but rounded up because of friendly service. read more
