Coconut Roti, Chicken & Pork Curry, Chutney, Cabbage, Yellow Rice, Coconut Sambol..... Deliciousness
    Chelsea M.

Heather is the cook for this Sri Lankan pop - up diner. She cares about quality ingredients. When you eat with her you are getting a fresh organic home cooked meal. My hubby is from Sri Lankan and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The food was authentic, flavorful and of course delicious. Traditionally SL food is more spicy than this, but we are in Minnesota where black pepper is spicy SO there wasn't anything too overwhelming with the heat. Sri Lankan Food takes a LONG time to prepare, so I was wondering how that would work when we arrived BUT essentially everything is made ahead of time and kept warm until ready to be served. It is about $25 per person for the main meal, which includes a ton of side dishes along with rice and two different curries. The appetizer, drinks (get the house made chai) and roti are additional costs. It is a cash only place, but there is an ATM across the street. You pretty much show up to be surprised by whatever the set menu is for the evening! We went with some friends and really enjoyed our time. It is a more expensive dinner but, you are getting a unique intimate experience (only 18 people eat at a time) and it's quality organic ingredients. And we brought sooooo much food home with us!

They are located in Northeast Minneapolis and have a parking lot, and there is street parking around as well! The space is small, but there are more tables outside as well! It's a pretty quick/casual environment, or a good place to grab for take out! They make some changes to their menu weekly, and they offer weekend specials, so I recommend following them on social media for all the updates! I've enjoyed everything I've had at Dahlia, from breakfast sandwiches to quiche to pastries. You really can't go wrong here, as long as you get here before everything sells out! They do offer preorders online on Thursdays and Fridays but weekends are first come, first serve so get there early! The pastries here are some of the best you can find in the cities! The croissant dough has so many layers, is airy and perfectly flakey yet crispy. Both their sweet and savory croissants are great.

Love that they have a brick and mortar location as I was never able to catch them in pop up format…read more They use the MN Nice Cream space during the AM/early afternoon (2pm close?) Much like MN Nice Cream, small and popping inside space. I went in on a Sunday around 11 and it was bumpin' as they say. Long line, decent pace however, and cheery staff. Snagged the Le Bistro breakfast sandwich which was huge and tasted absolutely amazing. The egg, the aioli, the cheese, get in my belly. I had it with the pork shoulder bacon. Also went for a dirty chai iced to wash it down which was spot on with flavor without being too much. (Some places that chai will boom too much if you know what I mean ). Also tried the carrot cake which, not going to lie, it looked gorgeous, but didn't hit the spot. It didn't pack a ton of flavor imo but could be me (carrot cake obsessed). Overall great experience and highly recommend. Pricing? Competitive as they say. Worth it. Support local. Thank me later.

The almond croissants here are what keep me coming back...they are absolutely the best...perfect in every way. Revisiting a beloved haunt, the Marc Heu Patisserie, at its enchanting Holiday Pop Up in Linden Hills, adorned with quintessential French charm, the aromas of festive spices and freshly baked treats enveloped me in warmth. Our server exuded elegance in her crisp white blouse and vibrant tie, styled with effortless French flair. As a special treat for yourself you must indulge in the delightfully decadent Cronuts stuffed with cream cheese...new experience for me. The rich hot chocolate drinks reminiscent of my childhood when real chocolate was used to prepare this special Holiday treat. The pure joy that I derived from being here, delighting in good cheer and the best pastries to be had in the Twin Cities has stayed with me and is truly my "happy place"!!!!

That said, their adding a QR code of the menu outside and along the line, was helpful. This way customers could review the selection and be a bit more prepared when they reached the front. Just like last time, the person helping was cordial, and helpful. I'll share what I ordered below. The items are pretty pricey so if you're not prepared or familiar with Marc Heu, you may experience sticker shock. One this to note is, the dessert options do rotate, so items you see in photos may not be there when you visit. Check their social/site for the latest. The space is gorgeous and styled with festive Christmas decor. It's actually a great place to capture cute holiday pics. There's a good amount of seating from community tables, bistro tables, and the coveted sofa & chairs by the fireplace and tree. There's also some retail items, mostly holiday themes, but I didn't get a close look. Anyway here's what I got between my two visits: -Croissant, had an unexpected but welcomed sweetness on the outside, like a very thin glaze. Amazingly delicious. - Ham and cheese croissant. Delicious heated up or not, but definitely get it heated so it can melt in your mouth. Could use a bit more ham and cheese within first two bites. Wasn't so crazy about the sweet glazed on this savory croissant. -Hlub (love). This dessert was pretty, and very tasty. Could have used a bit more (bigger or thicker) of the cookie/cake layer. The passion fruit provided a nice tang that contrasted the subtle sweetness of the outside (mousse like). Although it wasn't fudge, flavor-wise that's what it reminded me of. - I can't recall the name of the latte I got, but it was a coconut flavor. Absolutely delicious, even if the coconut flavor was extremely noticeable to me. I'm glad they're on this side of the river, and while I know it's only until end of year, I hope they decide to extend it. Like, permanently!

I highly suggest if you order from here, you get it to go or through Uber eats or something. Unfortunately I was visiting and I took an uber there, so I sat and ate there. I love southern cooking, this food was okay, not incredible, My pork chop had a good flavor and the gravy was delicious, but the pork chop itself was very chewy. I could not cut it with the plastic knife I was given. I got collard greens and although it was a different flavor than what I was expecting, they were very good , I would order them again, they had a great flavors. My other side was corn bread. It was ordinary, not great nor bad. Came in a cupcake paper. On a scale from 1-5, I give the pork chop a 3, the collard greens a 5, and the corner bread a 3. No bathrooms, no extra napkins, no water, ...my container leaked gravy all over me when I took it out of the bag. I was a mess and with no rags or napkins. I want to give this place a good rating, I want them to succeed. If you want to try, only get it Togo and preferably idelivered.
