Tried this place while visiting Cincy and staying nearby. I usually go to another nearby chain restaurant, but I decided to give Currito a try instead. I had the Bangkok bowl, mostly because it's one of their dairy-free options. I was a little bit concerned when I asked to make sure that it would be dairy-free, and they seemed a bit unsure of themselves. But, I didn't have any issues, so it did turn out to be dairy-free. The taste was pretty good, and the portion size was fine, not huge, but mostly filling. I did appreciate all the different veggie options they had, there were a lot. Currito is like chipotle but with higher-end ingredients. I recommend ordering from their app if you're trying to get food during busy lunch hours on the weekdays. This is a pretty popular place for employees from nearby companies. My order has always been ready by the predicted time! My bowls are always packed to the max. I like to customize my bowls and usually order half steak and half chicken with arugula and quinoa. I like their peanut sauce and vinaigrette dressing. I usually ask those on the side so I can control the amount of sauce. When I'm treating myself, I add a green juice. Love coming here for lunch! read more

Stopped in on a whim here for lunch since I was in the downtown area. I was a little late for lunch so there was not a big crowd. I got the buffalo chicken ranch wrap and it was huge and good!! This place serves a really good buritto. They have a fair amount of options and you can get it in a bowl vs a wrap. The place was clean and the staff were nice. I'd been aware of Currito over by UC ever since we moved to Cincinnati a few years ago, and I'd been pretty skeptical. First, what the hell is a "Currito"? A curry burrito? A burrito that offers the "cure" for your hunger? A burrito you're curious about? A burrito that's "current" and hip? See, the name of this place creates instant confusion. (FWIW, an Internet search reflects that "currito" roughly translates to "working man.") Second, Currito's byline is "burritos without borders," which Currito's website pitches as some sort of novel concept. In other words, Thai burritos, teriyaki burritos, Mediterranean burritos, and so on. Well, Currito, I've been around awhile, and I've been here and there, and your concept ain't novel. In fact, your concept has been around since at least the 1990s, which is about how long I've been unimpressed by it. So I never went. But I work downtown and had grown tired of the overcrowded and not-so-well-run chain burrito place that's been downtown for a couple of years. (You know, that other burrito place that begins with a "C.") Currito recently opened up this shop a stone's throw from work, so it was inevitable that I was going to pop in. And I'm glad I did. Currrito's pretty solid in comparison to a lot of the Cal-Mex/San-Fran-style burrito competition. In fact, it's better than most around here. Everything tastes pretty fresh and flavorful. I haven't tried any of the burritos represented by the "burritos without borders" tagline, but the "classic" and "summer" are pretty straightforward Cal-Mex burritos. The former comes with pinto beans and pico, and the latter with black beans and magno salsa. One excellent idea that sets Currito apart from its competition is to heat up the burrito in a press just before it's served, which melts the cheese and imparts some additional flavor to the tortilla. But while Currito's barbacoa and carnitas are pretty tasty, they tend to be a little dry, in contrast to the "C" chain's tender, sous-vided-in-Chicago (yes, it's apparently true) carnitas and barbacoa. Another nice thing Currito does is offer burritos in "regular" and "small" sizes. The small is actually decent-sized and is about a buck cheaper. The only immediate difference I can tell between the small and regular is that the regular seems to have more rice. That's not much value for your extra dollar. The restaurant is sharp-looking and clean. But as Stephen G. says, it is clamorously loud when more than a few diners are present. Another big plus: Currito is a local business. Its owners are the same folks who have opened the wildly popular Bakersfield OTR. Overall, 3.75 stars, and a very welcome downtown lunch addition. P.S. A few updates (11/17), all negative: Prices have risen a bit over five years. Currito recently eliminated all of its protein choices other than grilled chicken, steak, and tofu, which means that you can't even pretend to assemble a carnitas or barbacoa burrito. And most egregious is a playlist of a '70s & '80s FM rock hits--OK in its own right--augmented by horrible, annoying disco beats. (WTF?) The very positive news is that the food quality and service have remained excellent at this downtown location. read more

Wifey had been wanting to try this place for a while and we needed a quick bite. The best way to describe it Chipotle-esque, but with international sauces. We got the Indian one and the Thai one in small burritos (yes, they come in three sizes instead of the Chipotle Food-coma one). Besides the regular drink fountain, they also have unsweetened black tea and honeyed green tea. I had about 5 cups of the green because it was delicious. I am not a big fan of Thai flavors, but both burritos turned out quite tasty. The chips were a tad weird, but the mango salsa was great. read more

I was a regular lunch patron at this location for a long time after it opened, since it is very close to my office. Multiple visits per week were common. However, over time I began to see changes which, in my humble opinion, have not necessarily been improvements. The ingredients were frequently changed, with favorites replaced by less appealing options. And the prices kept going steadily up. It was getting progressively harder to find something I liked. Gradually I found myself visiting less and less. Today I tried it again for the first time in a couple months, and found that the menu had undergone yet another substantial revamp, and there is now a stiff up charge for proteins that used to be included in the regular price. The original appeal of Currito was the ability to get a quick lunch with fresh ingredients at an attractive price. While the ingredients are still fresh, both they and the prices are far less attractive than they once were. I think I'm pretty much over this place. read more

My past several experiences to Currito are fast becoming the expected norm and a huge buzzkill. The fact alone that the staff bark and hurriedly herd you like terrified cattle is enough of a turnoff (it is POINTLESS to try and order a custom-made entree, they rush you and yell at you and you don't even have time to pause or see what's being offered). The past THREE times they have gotten my order wrong. Today I ordered "House salad, no beans or dressing." So I opened up a house salad, with beans and dressing, NO CHICKEN. Really? OK, cards on the table time... I'm not the biggest fan of Mexican cuisine. It unnecessarily 'confuses' me, that whole "what's the difference between burritos, chimichangas, tacos and tortillas?" thing together with the concept of 'refried beans'. Why would beans be refried and why couldn't I have been served them when they were fresh rather than merely warmed up? I'm maybe exaggerating my disdain but it's fact that whenever my wife suggests we try out a new Mexican eatery a little part of my soul departs on vacation. And not to Guadalajara. So I surprised myself this past week when I suggested to the wife that we could try lunch together at the new Currito location downtown. I did that because I knew how much the missus enjoys Mexican food, the choice of vegetarian options usually impressive. Plus, if I'm being entirely honest, I had sneaked a peek at their menu online and they appeared to offer a simple choice of 'decision-free' burritos and the Bangkok Burrito sounded like something out of the ordinary and, as such, might be a tasty option for an self-avowed gringo. The restaurant is near the downtown bus terminals and the first impression upon walking in is ... damn, this place is noisy... I said, DAMN, THIS PLACE IS NOISY! Granted it was lunchtime and packed to the gills with people waiting and dining, but there appears to be nothing - by way of any soft furnishing or insulation - in the entire space to cut down on any noise and it almost seems as if the sound is somehow electronically amplified by hidden microphones and 10,000W loudspeakers. A server was greeting people in line and we couldn't hear what he said to us. The person taking our order couldn't hear what we wanted without us having to shout it across the counter and when our order was ready we didn't hear our number called. Like I said... LOUD! If they'd offered earplugs as a side I would've bought a pair. That was the minus. The big plus was that the food was good. Very good. My aforementioned Bangkok Burrito - packed with Thai peanut sauce, Asian slaw, cucumber rice and (my choice of) chicken really hit the spot, the flavors all mingling beautifully. The missus opted for the Summer Burrito, a combination of black beans, mango salsa, melted cheese and rice with her preferred Organic Tofu and she declared it a big hit too. The burritos come in 3 different sizes. We both chose the modest 'small' which ran about 6 bucks each, plus a rather hefty (IMHO) $1.25 for the addition of guacamole. I've been 'forced' into returning to places like Chipotle in the past, but I don't think I'll be forced into returning to Currito as I'm now quite eager to try out a couple of their other offerings, in particular the Teriyaki Burrito which seems to have received rave reviews at their alternative (earlier) locations. It's certainly nice that downtown now has an additional 'affordable option' to choose from and nicer still that it's courtesy of a local Cincinnati company. read more

A few coworkers and I had Currito delivered a few days ago. We work a bit far from Fountain Square but still within their delivery area. We were told over the phone it would be about 30 minutes. After an hour passed we called to check on the order and the same woman who originally told us 30 minutes said there was a giant order before ours and they were behind (we've heard this same thing from other coworkers who have ordered in the past). She then said our food was on its way. After ANOTHER half an hour our food arrived. If we were told it would be over an hour it would not have been that big of a deal...we know we are downtown and it was around lunchtime, but we were told 30 minutes. After we told the delivery guy how long it took he said "well, it's a really long walk." He then proceeded to say that the reason it took so long is because there were women in the kitchen. At first we thought he was joking but he then continued on about how if men were in the kitchen it would have gotten to us quicker but its the women who are slowing everything down. We we're shocked. The food itself was not horrible. I got the summer burrito bowl with black beans and mango salsa. It definitely was no Chipotle but still not the worst food. It was the service that will most likely prevent us from ordering food from there again. read more

Currito you really surprised me (in a good way). Knowing the basic concept I was under the impression Currito was just a glorified Chipotle. Another build your own burrito chain like all the others (Re: Hothead, Qdoba...the list goes on). I stopped by one day after work because the location is right across the street from where I catch the bus and I was entering the 'hanger zone.' That dreaded area of hungry where someone looking at you the wrong way can send you over the edge. There was absolutely no one in Currito so I knew it would be a quick in and out. I was surprised by their menu. I had to take a few moments to look at all the options (you can also just build your own burrito). I finally settled on the Currito House Salad with Chicken. It seemed the safest (though you can go crazy and get an Indian burrito or many other flavor options). The House Salad tastes fresh and the flavors are matched perfectly. It comes with creamy lime dressing on the side...so refreshing! For a quick option Currito is a winner! read more

Wow, how does one even begin to describe Currito? I I love burritos but the same old thing from Qdoba or Chipotle (where every burrito tastes the same) just doesn't do it for me. Enter Currito. It's like the United Nations of burritos - well, almost. The menu is a bit too small but "burritos without borders" describes them just fine. My husband and I got three burritos to split - the Bangkok, Tikka Masala and the Buffalo. All with different meats too, just to get some variety. All three burritos were just fantastic. I can't pick a favorite - because all of them were so delicious in their own separate ways. What's even better is that at the end they put them in a sort of grill thing to make them even hotter. After a 30 minute drive from downtown (we got take-out on our way home) to Mason the burritos WERE STILL STEAMING! Holy cow! I can't imagine how hot they must be to people eating in the restaurant, but they cooled off quickly after we took them out of the foil wrappers. I'd like to see the menu get expanded to have more other interesting styles of cuisine-in-a-burrito, but for now the menu is suitable and delicious. The burritos are fairly priced, filling and the website even has nutritional info for all of them (minus the meats, annoyingly.) This is a great place to go for burrito lovers and all who are very hungry. read more

Places like this downtown mostly cater to the downtown lunch crowd and Currito is no exception. If you get there after 11:30 on a weekday get ready for a line! Overall though the wait is worth the food they serve. Compared to other lunch restaurant options downtown Currito is a good mix of quality and price with plenty of options. I typically go for the selection of "off the shelf" ingredient combinations that they offer but haven't been let down yet. I'm sure I'll end up here often with coworkers because even though it is a burrito place you can get many types of different offerings with a wider selection than most other burrito places. read more

Fun fact, for those familiar with Boloco in Boston, this is the same company...I loved Boloco (very similar concept- unique burritos) and was so happy to hear a few years ago that Curritos were opening in Cincinnati! This is my go-to work lunch when I don't brown-bag it. Build your own tofu burrito bowl with both pinto & black beans, a little quinoa, curry chickpeas, mango salsa and lots of greens - amazing. Chipotle, Qdoba and whoever else can't compare with their boring toppings... I will never be satisfied with a Chipotle burrito bowl again (not like I really ever was in the first place). Service is fast even during peak hours, you can pay and reload money with the Currito Rewards app in your iPhone passbook (highly recommend!), quality is consistent and it always tastes fresh. I love that you can get small, or regular sized burritos. Avoid the bowl, they charge you more for that. I also love that it has brown rice options. I have been here enough times to have gone through their basic burritos, and I must say they are not boring. They cover the range of profiles from the intense buffalo burrito, to the subtle tikka masala burrito, Oh, and they have like 4 registers and 2 assembly lines, so there is no way you're going to be waiting a long time for food. Now, the down side. This place has serious problems with cold blasts from the outside during the winter. Other negatives, too many people go here for lunch, so it can be difficult to find a seat. read more

New-ish fancy burrito place (part of regional chain) downtown. Their particular shtick is bringing flavors from other cultures to a burrito (e.g. Indian, Thai, etc.) and they have a few more ingredient choices than usual. They offer both small and regular size burritos as well as bowls and they have combos with chips, drinks, etc. On a recent visit, I tried a small Bangkok burrito with chicken and an iced tea (and shared some chips & salsa with a friend). The burrito was indeed small and expensive for the size (small burrito + drink = $8) and the predominate flavor/ingredient by far was the chunks of cucumber. There was very little chicken and I didn't really get the rich peanut flavor I was hoping for from the sauce (more acidic/spicy). One thing I didn't realize was that if you order a specialty burrito (vs. build your own), you need to specify when ordering if you want anything different; otherwise, they will just automatically make it as listed. The iced tea is Fuze brand and they have unsweetened and green tea with honey (a half and half combo is really good and not too sweet). The inevitable comparison is to Chipotle and for me, it falls short. I would certainly give it another try, but next time order a build-your-own regular size burrito to have a little more control over exactly what goes in. read more

This is always a giant plus especially when I'm rushing. However, comparatively to Chipotle... I'm just not a fan. There's more variety yes but I'm a classic burrito bowl kind of girl and the flavors here don't cut it. The meat is always under-seasoned, the cilantro lime rice is dry and salsas are just lack-lustered. Also, the prices higher and customer service...is just not good. So the first time I saw Currito, I was skeptical. Firstly, Chipotle is my burrito jam. And I was very unimpressed with Qdoba, and Hot Heads was ok. Keep in mind I work just 2 blocks away downtown, but somehow I have never gone! This past weekend my husband and I were given free Currito burrito coupons at the FC Cincinnati game. So then we just had to try it out this week! The menu is straightforward. If you don't know what's going on, just go with a pre-selected set of ingredients. My opinion in these situations is that the pre-selected menu items are tried and true. To get a good feel of the place, you should start there. There is always time to get fancy with your choices later. Firstly, I like that you can get a small or regular burrito or bowl. I like having the choice of not going straight into a food coma afterward. My husband and I got the tikka (Indian inspired) and the bankok (Thai inspired) to be split evenly among ourselves, per usual. The bangkok was good. Nice flavors. Good texture. Not very spicy at all (I would have enjoyed a little more). The tikka was also good, but expected much better. It was the sort of Indian flavor that people who like the IDEA of Indian food (but don't ACTUALLY like Indian food) would eat. Overall, this place is good, and a nice change-up in the burrito world. It does get super crowded at lunch. But that's old news. You're downtown with 60,000 other people who also work a 9-5. Go early or late if you want to avoid them. read more

I eat at this Currito at least twice a week for lunch, so I am obviously a huge fan. My biggest gripe with this particular location is that, even when I ask for light something-or-other, there is often still too much of it. I know, I know. Total first world problem. Let me explain. I try really hard to be good and eat healthily during the week (think portion control). Currito is great because I can build my own burrito and they have a small option. The problem with not getting some light ingredients is that means sometimes the small burrito won't fold. Other times it means that I'm getting too much of something I needed to be lighter. That aside, I still come here frequently. It obviously doesn't hold me back. I love that Currito has different (cucumber, kale) and interesting (chickpeas, quinoa) ingredients and toppings (tikka, teriyaki), which is why I prefer this burrito place over other franchises. We went into this downtown location as newbies. I had only eaten at the Kenwood location. My husband had never eaten Currito before. Maxine and Kelsey were so welcoming! They explained everything made appropriate suggestions and genuinely seemed happy to serve us. The line was spotless! I could see into the kitchen area and it was clean as well. The food was so fresh and amazing. Delicious!!!!My Kenwood experience was not good. I was standing on the line trying to decide and told the girl I had never eaten there before and she literally rolled her eyes and walked away!!! This location has only been open for about a week and I've been twice if that tells you anything. On Monday we went around 11:30 to get carry out for a noon meeting. We had no wait at all. I got my standard, the Teriyaki with tofu. On Friday I met my husband for lunch at noon. The line looked long, but with two assembly lines it moved quickly. This time I got the classic with tofu and opted for black beans. I prefer the Teriyaki. As the previous post says it was LOUD. My husband and I were yelling to carry on a conversation. It was a good bowl even though the server put way too much pepper flake on it taking away from some of the natural flavors. The gal that took my order was good but the people who prepared my bowl and smoothie were clueless. The had to reference the menu for ingredients and they forgot to put dressing on the bowl. The other server nearly threw the smoothie at me with significant attitude. There was a guy restocking at the spoons, napkin stand.
