I brought some high end clothing last year and this year to their store in Arlington, VA, but never receive the list of prices. I called several times and they said the would send me the online login access to check on my items but never did. They keep the items without any updates.This happened few times. The selection is varied, which allowed me to shop for work, vacation and pieces suitable for going out. I've been a regular customer and consignor at this shop because I live nearby, but after my most recent experience, I will never go back. I dropped off a small bag of clothes and ran a quick errand nearby. When I returned after half an hour, I was shocked to find my clothes scattered on the floor like trash. They weren't in the bag, and it looked like they hadn't even been properly reviewed. The front desk staff told me that my clothes were rejected, but gave no clear explanation. I understand they won't take everything, but at the very least, provide a reason so I can bring more relevant items in the future--and speak to customers with basic respect. The employee's attitude was dismissive and condescending, as if I owed her something, and she didn't even bother to smile. Additionally, they claim to "donate" unsold clothes without informing me. I noticed some of my previously consigned items had disappeared from the online portal, so I called to ask what happened. They told me that the clothes were either damaged or didn't sell within a certain period and were "donated." However, they couldn't specify to which charity, nor provide any proof of donation when i asked. For all I know, they may have sold my clothes and pocketed the entire profit. Unless they can prove these donations, I believe they are running a dishonest and untransparent operation. If you're thinking about selling your clothes, there are plenty of trustworthy online platforms like Poshmark. Don't waste your time with this shop. read more

This consignment boutique is one of my favorite spots to go thrifting for quality, high end pieces. Everything is reasonably priced considering the boutique curates the pieces that are on display and only accepts good pieces! I have shopped here a handful of times and I am always amazed at the quality of clothes and the name brands at affordable prices. I got some like new Lululemon leggings for only $39 with tax! If you love thrifting but don't want to have to sift through worn out or pilled clothes, this is the spot. Everything is organized by category and size. There's also dressing rooms so you don't have to experience the disappointment of thrifting something and taking it home and it not fitting. Everything here is in excellent shape and looks brand new despite being designer or vintage! The boutique owner definitely has great style with all the pieces inside. I usually consign items with The Real Real (Past items have included Tiffany, Rodarte, Kate Spade, Lafayette 148, etc.) but there are a handful of brands I own that are not on TRR's Designer Registry, so I opened a consigner account at Current Boutique in Arlington because it was the closest brick and mortar consignment store to my home. Mind you, I have beautiful, beautiful things, and yet they reject almost everything I bring them. On that list are: an Henri Bendel satchel in pristine condition (because large bags don't do well), barely worn size 14 deep green wool paper bag slacks from Brooks Brothers (because large sizes don't sell - are you kidding?) and, most recently, a pair of black Cole Haan wedges I have worn once ("too scuffed.") But they were happy to accept a crappy navy tote I bought for $20 at the Coach outlet. I also saw the same cheap plastic purse there that I once purchased at a flea market years ago in Florida for almost what I paid for it. Meanwhile, while I was waiting for my Cole Haans to be rejected (she took about 90 seconds to go through four pairs of shoes, including unworn bowed Ann Taylor flats, none accepted - and when I said "even the Cole Haans?" she seemed surprised to hear that they were Cole Haan so I don't think she looked that hard), I checked out the jewelry case. A bunch of no-name costume jewelry and a few unremarkable Kate Spade pieces. It has become obvious to me. This isn't consignment. It's a thrift store. They cater to young people with no money. The consignments are accepted by staff for whom I could have babysat. I find myself leaving this store angry and offended. As someone who prides myself on and is regularly admired for the grandeur of my wardrobe, this is not good for my mental health. It's like walking into an evil parallel fashion universe. If you're looking for high end I wouldn't shop here either. The only reason I knew about this store at all is because I came here many, many years ago with a friend who is much thinner than me. I couldn't find anything in my size so I basically stood there while she tried things on. I did pull one shirt off a rack though to look at it - a chartreuse green polyester satin button down. The armpits were completely discolored from sweat and had turned conspicuously pink. But my Cole Haans had a tiny scuff on them. K. Basically, if you're looking to sell or purchase high end consignment, go elsewhere (I'm going to look into selling at Secondi in Dupont Circle even though it's more of a schlep). I am a patron of Current Boutique, consignment in Arlington, Virginia. On Wednesday, February 28th, at 1 pm, I visited the store for an appraisal on my nude-colored Christian Louboutin Pigalle Pumps 120. I asked a clerk who was wearing a leopard print shirt layered with a black leather bustier to take a look at my shoes. Prior to conducting any assessment, the attending clerk requested a certificate of authenticity, a requirement I had not encountered previously. I explained that, due to the shoes' age of six years, I did not have anything but the shoebox. However, I assured her that upon examination, the shoes would align with the standards of authenticity observed in other Louboutin products within the store. Disregarding my explanation, she declined to proceed further, citing the shoes' condition as too worn. Inquiring about the criteria for consignment, I received no definitive response from the clerk. Additionally, my request for a second opinion was met with rudeness as she curtly dismissed the notion, claiming to have already assessed the shoes. Subsequently, I expressed interest in viewing a pair of peep-toe Louboutins displayed for sale, only to find them in a severely deteriorated state, lacking the signature red sole. I am a regular customer at this location as I work in the area. Just a few weeks prior I went into the shop with a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps that weren't in the best condition but I at least received a fair quote and treatment. And the clerk didn't ask for a certificate of authenticity. I'm sure this behavior definitely falls below acceptable standards of customer service. I've attached the shoes below for reference. I came in a few weeks ago to consign about 12 pieces of clothing and a brand new pair of shoes. They said they could take about half of the items. I filled out the paperwork with my name, phone number and information. I purchased a few items while there. I left with the items that I had purchased but forgot about my items they wouldn't take for consignment. I realised that I forgotten the non-consigned items about two days later. I called and spoke with the Manager Katie. She said that they probably donated the items. I asked why no one contacted me about the items. She said that it's policy that they call after one week of the items still being there. I replied that it had been two days. Not once did she apologize or give me any kind of solution. I called their customer service number and spoke with someone. She said that she'd talk to Katie the Manager and find out if my clothing was still there and apologized for the situation. She left me a voicemail a few days later and apologized, saying that all of my items had been donated. This was my first and last experience going to Current Boutique. I do not recommend anyone supporting a company that treats consumers like this. read more

Visited this shop last week. This place has gone completely downhill. Workers are uninterested and some are downright rude. Had a feeling they might be racist- I watched them treat me differently from other shoppers. I talked to some of my friends in the area and this seems to be a common trend. Not to mention the clothing selection isn't as good as it once was - So not even worth putting up with the horrible service!! Poor quality, overpriced, terrible selection. If you are interested in consigning, I would NOT recommend this boutique (particularly this Clarendon location). On 12/17/21 was the 3rd time I've had issues with this particular store (previously issues included losing/not knowing where my consignment was then later finding it and sold online items not showing up anywhere in my online account for over a month until I followed up by email documentation). On that day, the issue was dropping off a classic black lace trim Rebecca Taylor dress in excellent condition that I purchased first hand at Saks that the manager refused in an unfriendly manner (I can understand refusing items that are in bad shape, unfashionable, out of season, or low quality, but this was not the case). When I asked her name, she refused to provide it saying - if you're going to write a bad review I won't give you my name. This last interaction was the tipping point for me to never consign with Current Boutique or recommend this store (I've had a much better, professional, and organized experience with other businesses who carry higher quality items). PS. There appears to be other people posting about a similar experience to mine as well as Better Business Bureau complaints (I also agree their inventory looked dated and in poor condition). I was excited to be shopping with my trendy teenager. I had lost weight and my daughter and I have so much fun bonding over clothes shopping. While shopping at CB today, though, I had a bathroom emergency and was told the store had no bathroom. There was an employee bathroom, but I was repeatedly told I could not use it. My daughter and I left without purchasing any clothes. I was not pleased with the lack of sympathy from the sales-ladies (all young) working at the boutique. I frequently bring my own clothes here to consign, but after they sell, I typically wait and buy something nice for myself later. FYI - I've been consigning clothing for over 10 years (not just with current boutique ), so I wanted to post this note since I know a lot of people have questions about consigning clothing. If you're interested in selling, they take on-trend, seasonally appropriate clothes that are in good condition (pilling, stains, rips won't be taken). Also, they are going to take items, brands, and styles that are selling well in the store. I love the idea of a local fashion interchange, but the Current business model is as ancient as that cute Yves Saint Laurent bag under the glass case. Not like haute couture, this vintage is a bit ...musty. Today I literally walked into a low-tier thrift shop with top-shelf consignment pricing. That wasn't the Current that opened almost 10 years ago. 3 bones to pick: 1) The nylon lace Willi Smith mini skirt I purchased for $38 All Sales Final is, at this moment, listed on PoshMark for $10 plus $5.95 shipping. 30 day guarantee. I just got pegged out of $25. There's literally nothing I can do about it per store policy; and that feels like a scam. 2) The Diane Von Furstenburg wool mini was creased and covered in dog hair on the racks for $68. I could pay $5 at Goodwill if I wanted pet dander with my garments. 3) No autumn/winter line fashion in stock. In past, Current has displayed racks of seasonal small label or local designers' new offerings on the floor. I'm sure I'll go again, but I won't buy until the "All Sales FInal" death warrant is removed, and the clothing is more carefully audited, cleaned, and reasonably priced. With technology disrupting everything about how we do business, I think folks invested in what Current adds to DC would want survival of this brand, myself included. I stopped by here because I like the one in Old town a lot.The store is very neat, clean and organized. There are a few parking spots in the adjacent lot, but I normally visit a few stores in this area so I park on the street. I think the buyers here are pretty good, picking nice items, from high end designer and fast fashion. Staff is friendly and efficient. Their prices are double thredup and poshmark, but hey you get to try it on. I've never consigned, preferring to list my things myself or just donate. I generally only buy things in the $30-$50 range preferring mid level designers, huge bonus points if it's made in the usa. I don't really get why they sell forever 21 when forever 21 is already so cheap. I'm really impressed that almost all the items in the store are ironed. At this location, I found lots of items to be very dirty and have stains on them, both makeup/foundation stains on the collar and food stains on the front of several garments. I don't know if the stains came from customers trying stuff on, or the original owner. Make sure to check the garment over. I like to take my items home and hand wash them with eucalan even if they say dry clean only. I've never had a problem other than a bit of shrinking. Nothing is worst than having to buy something and paying another $10 just to clean it. read more

From a consignor's perspective, this is the last place you want to go. I brought in over about 20 pieces, some of them in brand new condition with the tags still on them. Out of those 20 pieces, only 1 item was selected. I then find out that even if the item never sells, I never get it back because the store reserves the right to donate it. (My bet is that the sales associates keep the clothes for themselves.) So 3 months later... I decide to give them a call and find out if my sweater sold. It did, but it turns out they don't tell you if anything sells - you just have to take the initiative to remember to call them and remind them to pay you. It turns out my $40 sweater sold for $13. My cut was a lousy $5.40, because it turns out that Current Boutique requires you to pay a mandatory $1 processing fee (which no one ever told me about and wasn't in any of their paperwork). The sales clerk then proceeded to try to convince me to pick up the check because the Arlington PO has supposedly been losing a lot of their checks recently. But even if you pick up, you still have to pay the mandatory $1 fee. WTF? Oh, and here's the best part. They only cut checks twice a month, so I need to wait until December 24 (15 days from today, December 10) for them to write me a check. It then takes 2 weeks for me to get the check so I won't see the cash until January 7. (Methinks someone is delaying mailing the checks because why else would it take 2 weeks to get a check from Arlington to Fairfax.) NEVER AGAIN! read more

Let me clarify, I would give it 4 stars for an actual store. But, I would give it 2-3 stars as a consignor. Let me talk about the store first. **Store: It's a nicely laid out store, clean, organized, and fun. I like the dressing rooms option. You'd be surprised how often there isn't a dressing room in consignment stores. However, browsing around, there aren't a lot of choices for casual or business casual. It's mostly dressy or clubby. I saw some clothing had some tears and gems missing too. Also, there are a lot of the same sizes, which are not mine. I wish it was organized by size more clearly. Then, we could go right to your size. I've been several times on several days (my sister lives in Arlington). I don't know if it's because they don't get them in or they don't sell it. I think they stop at size 10, which is okay, but some people might need an extra size up. I'm a solid 12 always, which is sad to see the lack of representation. However, this might not be their problem. About their shoes, I don't like them on top of the clothing racks. I could have one fall on me. I would prefer (if possible) to have outfits put together with shoes and accessories (they could just be shoes and accessories or with a shawl or something one size, no clothes). The accessories and shoes are hidden and hard to see. **Consigning: The two girls that I had looking at my things were quite rude and unprofessional. I told her that I had about 20-35 minutes for her to look at my items and if they didn't have time, that was fine. I would come back. They said they could split them up and do them in 15 minutes. I browsed the store (see above). After about 25 minutes, I see they are still at the same spot where I left. They were chatting, on their phones, and talking to another customer (which is fine, but it was a long conversation--she didn't buy anything). I asked how it was going and they threw a bunch of my items in a bag. Threw is NOT an exaggeration. I had all of my items on hangers and in garment bags and a few items (about 3) folded nicely in a bag. They didn't even put everything back on the hangers and just threw them in the garment bags and zipped them up (I learned this after I got back home). After they said they were complete, I noticed that a whole garment bag wasn't even unzipped and they didn't look at my bag of accessories at all. As I was taking my items back, they saw a sweater dress in the garment bag (I was making sure it was zipped up) they didn't look at and took it at the last minute. I don't like last minute sales. Also, they were holding up my items during the initial decision process and were being quite rude about holding them up and discussing them/saying mean things. I keep my items in pristine condition (some even had the tags on them still) and they only took about 5-8 out of about 25. I saw several damaged items (see above) in the store though. But they were extremely picky about my items. I had to give an itemized list which is fine, I consign a lot. But, I could have been filling out the contract and the list while they were going through it. Also, they did NOT go over the contract with me (or even have explanations of questions I had) and told me with a long sigh that they were impatient when I was trying to read it. I was under the impression when I got there that I would get a check mailed to me every so often, but I was informed that I would have to WAIT 90 DAYS. Who can wait 90 days for a check? I really need money since I had an internship from August - December that I did not get paid for. I was informed I had to come back and check my balance occasionally, which I can't do, since I don't live anywhere near Arlington. I only visit my sister sometimes and we don't come here every time. I will not be consigning with this boutique again. They made me feel belittled and didn't even thank me for my items or time. I had a really nice leather jacket and I saw they slashed the price on the list when I left...I was left with a really bitter taste in my mouth. ***ADDED: "mean girls" is accurate. I called several times and asked kindly to be sent the email again and I was addressed in such an accusatory way that I felt attacked when trying to collect the money I was promised to earn when my items sold. I didn't even know there was a Current in Clarendon. I'm not the biggest fan of consignment, but Current mixes both new and old. If you like consignment, this is probably a good stop, as I noticed a decent amount of higher-end brands, along with the typical mall store stuff. Some of the staff is friendly; some is not. There's so much apparel here that it's quite overwhelming. On my second visit, I stuck to the jewelry and found a super cool ring. As much of a shopaholic I am, I have never stepped foot inside a consignment boutique. After hearing good things about Current from classmates who work there, as well as hearing their radio ad on 99.5 in the mornings, I decided to check it out during a long break in between classes. They had a good mix of low to high end brands, but the organization throughout the store is lacking. The racks are STUFFED with clothes, but they could definitely organize it by sweaters, tops, blouses, etc. rather than putting all tops in one rack. They sell everything from tops, bottoms (skirts, pants, denim), dresses, shoes, purses, wallets, accessories, jewelry, and so much more. Unfortunately, I'm a common size so it was hard to find things that I liked in my size. I did end up finding two pieces for work that were decently priced though. Yay... Success! I'm thinking about selling a few pre-loved items here, but I will probably check out their other locations, or other consignment boutiques in the area so I can get the best bang for my buck. read more

Hadn't been to this location in a while but decided to pop in since I was in the area. Womp womp...totally underwhelmed! The selection wasn't great. No one ever offered to start a fitting room for me, so I had to take my clothes up to the front desk just to get serviced. Plus, it was difficult to shop and try on items because the HVAC was busted in the summertime and the whole place was entirely too hot. They must really sort through items well because I honestly would have thought that everything was new. Everything is very well organized. I liked what I saw, so I decided to bring in my clothes for consignment. The staff was as friendly as they were when I was first came in. They went through my items VERY quickly, explained the consignment process and I was on my way. Since it was such a good experience, I went back a couple weeks later and consigned more items. When I visited Current Boutique a few years ago, the store was disorganized and many items were overpriced. The staff were unfriendly and snooty. I recently decided to stop in to browse and am glad I did! I was greeted as soon as I stepped inside. Dalia, the store manager was cheerful, knowledgeable and professional. Another staff is constantly organizing the racks. The store is filled with lots of branded clothes (Escada, Rebecca Minkoff, J Crew, Banana Republic, Trina Turk and more) at a reasonable price. Many of them almost new. I found a few items and a red coat by J Crew. I pointed out a small stain on the coat and right away Dalia offered to try a spot remover and gave me discount on the coat. Consignment with Current Boutique This is an update to an earlier review of Current Boutique, Arlington's handing of consigned clothing. The earlier review was removed by Yelp, but this review is compliant with Yelp guidelines. A Current Boutique manager wrote that their staff had reached out to me concerning my complaint that clothing consigned to the Clarendon location was no longer in the store in early 2017, 2 months after I consigned it. In fact no one ever reached out to me to address my concerns. The Arlington Current Boutique staff claimed at various times that 2 high-value items "could be in storage", or they could be "in a bin in the back of the store" or "they must have been sent to another Current Boutique location". I want to clarify that my complaint is not with Current Boutique's sending clothing I consigned in one store to another store; my complaint is that they they have no system in place to track the interstate & inter-store transfer of consigned clothing when it leaves the original location and is moved out of state to their Bethesda, Maryland or DC location, or their location in Alexandria. That their store manager says "it's in our inventory" and therefore is "somewhere" is not at all reassuring. I read more
