This is a nice Goodwill. Not a huge store or selection but they pack in as many items as they can. Everything is organized by size and item type with one price for each category. They have a few changing rooms which were nice and roomy. I liked how they had the accessories organized and found a great belt! I popped in looking for some decor for work. I always like digging in thrift stores because you find the best vintage or French Country or even modern goodies, not to mention all the other items they sell like clothes, books, toys, etc. I like to think of thrift stores as shopping in someone's house. How many times have you been at someone's house & thought or said "Oh wow, that is so cool, I love it"! Well this is where peeps recycle gently used, like new or even NWT items. I donate all the time and I love how most thrift stores are a part of an organization that also "recycles" their profits to assit people. Did not find any Knick knacks today but scored three BNWT Michael Kors ties for $2.99 each - WOWZERS! As others have mentioned, this is a small store so obvi selection is smaller & it can also tend to get cluttered quicker but all-in-all still a very decent shop! This is a smaller Goodwill store, but it's still jam packed with items. That's a good thing and a bad thing. The upside is that they have some nice items--a large selection of shoes, well curated boutique items, etc. Things are very well organized by item type. It is a fun place for people who have time to do a deep treasure hunt. The downside is that it's especially dusty and stuffy. Even while wearing a mask (a pandemic guideline that is a requirement to enter), I could feel the dust and started getting the urge to sneeze. It seems like they've added more racks of clothes to stock more inventory. As a result, it feels more crowded than many other Goodwills. A lesson for us all to remember--please wash and/or launder your items before donating! Although keep in mind that this particular store is not a donation site. For dropping off items, you'll probably want to go to the Glebe Road store. read more

11/23/19 Found an unexpected movie at this store. The 1998 copy of a tv movie called Merlin. It is the best Merlin moive I have seen. This store has been here for some time, but up until now, I have never set foot in here. I am not so sure I will buy clithes here, but I certainly will donate clothing here. The place has a number of staff members restocking clothing and doing their best to keep it clean. I found the lines to a bit long with only one cashier, but he was pleasant to talk to. Apparently he is a Washington Redskins fan, but isn't happy with the teams performance. He saw me in my Baltimore Ravens gear and wished my team well in the up coming game...okay that not really what he said, but close enough to the truth. I love this goodwill, they always have great glassware and trinkets. It's always clean whenever I visit. The store is organized unlike some of the other Goodwills I've visited. They have half price specials based on the price sticker color that day. Most of the items I buy are like a buck usually. When I was a wee child, "Seventeen" magazine was my ultimate thrift-spiration. While I was shopping at Hechts for LEI jeans and baby tees with giant yellow smiley faces on them, girls my age were buying vintage Chanel blazers that they found at random thrift shops in NY. I made an effort to search thrift shops all over Virginia to see if I could score secondhand couture but instead I was met with major disappointment. Obviously all of the girls in the magazines lived in a magical world where designer pieces were thrown away with gutso. Well, last October my day in the thriftlight finally came. I stopped in at the Goodwill next to my work and found a mint condition Burberry blazer (retail price...my rent for a month) and a Brooks Brother tie for $3 (retail price $80). Even the sales associate commended me on my finds! Some rich man must have died and gone to heaven for the sake of my boyfriend's Dalton Academy Warbler Halloween costume. I was so excited about my finds that I didn't pay attention to my speed when driving back and got a ticket. But it was totally worth it because we ended up being the belles of the (Halloween) ball and lived happily ever after. This Goodwill is pretty horrible. The management staff is rude and disrespectful towards customers. I overheard a manager's interaction with a customer whom was trying to get a better deal on shoes. The manager actually said to him: "Does this look like an auction? The price is the price, we are no auction." This is horrifying!! I've worked retail before and just because you work in a thrift shop it doesn't give you the right to treat others in that way. And later, she (the manager) was blatantly laughing about it with another staff member. I have been back since and that lady seriously needs to go, she is not a good representative of the company. On another note, yes I have found some good items here but not enough to want to come back and deal with those people. read more

Once in a while, I wander into a Goodwill store because you never know what you'll find. This place had plenty of parking and inside it was nice a large and full of a variety of items. I found 2 dresses here for $9! Awesome! They have daily deals for members (easy to sign up) plus student and military discounts. The staff here were friendly and helpful. They have a very large home goods section-as most of them do. Lots of glass goods, kitchen gear, etc. You'll also find a large records collection. The section that was smaller than other places I have seen was the book section (the one on Columbia pike has a giant book section downstairs if you want to check it out). Overall, definitely recommend checking this place out because you might find some hidden gems. read more

This is actually one of the smaller Goodwills, but it has a surprisingly decent selection. They have an awesome book selection! It looks like a lot of avid readers and a handful of college students donate here. There were some great, scholarly reads. The selection wasn't massive, but all of the selection was great stuff. I don't think there were even any cheesy drugstore books at all. There were some really great political books, some great older books, and an awesome selection career development books. I even saw some fairly new bestsellers, like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In terms of clothing, there was a great blazer selection and lots of items in my size, yay :). Among my finds was this awesome Zara Basic blazer for $6.98. I had no idea about the brand Zara, but I could tell by the cut and feel of the fabric that it was high-end. I was right because when I got home and browsed the brand's website I found that an item like the one that I scored would run me about $130 new. Definitely a 100% win! The place isn't crawling with this type of find, but as with any good thrift store, the patient shall indeed be rewarded. Overall, there were some nice women's sportswear items, and a good clothing selection overall. I'd definitely come back for the books, too. read more

I've only been to this location once but was instantly impressed by the size and how well laid out everything is. It's a big space and things seem to be labeled clearly or at least organized in a sensible way. Their clothing options seems extensive but throughout the store in general things are clearly priced. There are still some things on shelves that are damaged and shouldn't be out to be sold (e.g. glassware). The staff with whom I interacted were polite and there was plenty of parking out front. This is one of the better Goodwill locations in the area in terms of volume and organization. read more

I am an AVID Goodwill hunter... notice I didn't say 'shopper'. I hunt these places down and I dive in for some deals. However, the two times I have been in here, the only think I've discovered is how dingy it is. Dingy as in not well organized, stuff in the floor and reminds me of my pack rat grandmother's storage shed. When you're 2 for 2, clearly this is an ongoing thing and not an off day. I visited this Goodwill with my 2 youngest daughters looking to do some late back to school shopping. What follows with shopping at a goodwill is the stigma, an employee of this store named Sergio made sure I was welcome and even helped my youngest, find a pair of shoes that she's obsessed with. Surprisingly enough, this isn't what I'm writing my review about- I overheard a customer be extremely rude to him and his manager, this staff is so kind but you tend to forget the horrible treatment they receive from other customers! Unbelievable and Disgusting. I wanted to thank the manager for training such a wonderful staff but I think they were busy enough. This will become my go to Goodwill. read more

This is my favorite Goodwill in the area. I think because of its location its not as often frequented as the Glebe Rd. one. Disclaimer: I'm a thrift store junkie! REVIEW FOR MEN. I'm a "regular fella" here in DC for one year only, in a position that requires coat & tie. Based on insight from a colleague and the reviews below, I trekked on over to check this place out. I went early on a Saturday morning. The parking at this shopping center is chaotic. The store was reasonably busy. The (busy) staff was VERY friendly, helpful, and polite. I walked-out with two very nice sport coats, some slacks, and ten neck-ties. All were in good shape and acceptable to a modern appearance. Total $34 (I handed the guy $40 and told him to donate the other $6). I'll end-up tailoring one sport coat and take both the the cleaners before use - that is still a TREMENDOUS savings. There was a lot of good name brands on the racks, and even good name brand leather shoes (some "already with the shine"). My only gripe? For the most part, the (suit) coats were not paired with the slacks. If you find a good fit pin-stripe, you'll need to head over to the slacks racks to find it's match. As stated in other reviews, you'll need some time to poke around. It's not arranged as neatly as a retail store. Let me be the "Master of the Obvious" for a second... There's a LOT of coat/tie jobs around DC/NVa, and a LOT of turnaround, hence a LOT of coat/tie donations to Goodwill when people transfer. This is the PERFECT area (and this is a great store) to either build or supplement your business attire wardrobe at a fraction of the new cost (you can't wear that JosABanks 3-for-1 suit EVERY day). Men: set aside two hours, go here. Find stuff (while knowing you're next stop is the dry cleaners). Dress like a boss. Bask in your frugal glory. Final thought: Concerned about wearing previously used clothes or shoes, Captain High Brow? Did your wife have "zero miles" when you made your selection? Didn't think so, chief. If you are shopping during Covid19 be sure that what you are getting is the right thing for you, they won't exchange or return, is understanding that they are trying to be careful but, if can't try on the cloth in the store!! Then at home you find out it doesn't fit; you have to keeping it. So Just a friendly remainder from your cashier wouldn't hurt, while is in the receipt I have to admit that most of us don't read the policies specially if they change. We are aware of the 7 day exchange one but the new ones no. Other stores resume to their regular return policy. Oh well I won't get back there until some normalcy comebacks to all of us if any. read more

I came here looking for some good deals on teacups for a bridal shower art project I'm working on - I'm not sure if it's because of the area, but I didn't feel there were any good finds compared to much less affluent neighborhoods. You would think the opposite, right? I was also looking for a piece of furniture to refurbish and was again disappointed. I will not pay goodwill $30 for a chair that is nearly falling apart and will cost more to restain/reupholster/mend, just because one of your employees stapled some okay looking, but non-matching and definitely non-upholstery fabric to the chair. Who appraises this stuff anyway? The entire vibe was weird and dirty-ish. I did suspect that the clothing selection may be good for those who are thrift fashionistas, but I hadn't looked myself - so no promises. I'll stick with the MD side goodwills and value villages for my projects from now on. read more

I've purchased: silver, funky metallic Nine West loafers for $4 (clean them out, put new sole-liners in, g2g), multiple books, a pair of funky jeans which I may or may not ever have the guts or buttocks to wear, and will go back for furniture (there was a wonderful black antique-looking chair I still want!) and cute decorative knick-knacks I don't really need. I've been making the rounds at the Goodwill stores in the area, and this is one of the good ones. This one shares many of the qualities of Goodwill stores - clothing organized by type and then by color with standard pricing based on the type of item, not the label. This store, like other Goodwill stores in the area, also has a boutique section where certain items are marked up a little bit more, but this store seems to not do it too much to too many things, which means the pricing tends to be more consistent. I've only been here randomly on weekdays in the middle of the day when I had a day off, and it's never ever busy at those times. I've never had a problem getting a dressing room, and the dressing rooms have been clean. As with most second-hand places, what you find will depend on how much time you have to search, what you're looking for, and a lot of luck. On one trip I got several great, high quality items, none of which was marked up. On another, I walked out the door with nothing. You never know what you're going to get. I'm not sure if this location is more hit or miss because it does not have a Donation Center attached to it like other Goodwill locations in the area. In all, this Goodwill store is worth a visit, and you'll be supporting their mission by shopping there. read more

I went here almost weekly over the summer and still go at least monthly. It is a small store with good merchandise. I have found brand-name clothing: J Crew, Coach, Talbots, Ann Taylor, etc. The housewares section is cool with some great items from time to time. They have AMAZING furniture if you catch them when they unload from the truck on some days including Mid Century Modern chairs or antiques. The staff is generally fine and courteous. A good place to stop for fun stuff. read more

As I am an infernal packrat, my wife and I are always looking for a place to get a tax deduction. Goodwill fills that void - although I have to say that the place seems to be run rather loosely and doesn't seem to have much rhyme or reason to it. Of the three Goodwills in the area, this is definately the best one! I've been there three times in the past week, and what have I found? A pair of Bruno Magli flats, for 4.99! A pair of cute vintage sailor-esque shoes, a pair of brand-new, never worn Aldo suede pumps, a gorgeous Theory blazer (6.98) and pounds upon pounds of clothing. Banana Republic, J. Crew, Gap and Ann Taylor are all prominent here, but if you search you can surely find designer names. Their clothing is in very good condition (for the most part, it is a thrift store after all). And they have a large men's section with good-quality names. I even saw Ralph Lauren Purple Label while I was browsing. If you move away from the clothing section they also carry furniture and have a large housewares section. Another major plus? Every time I've gone they'll bargain with you if you look hesitant about an item. I found a beautiful, white jacket from Zara, that had a small stain on it. When I hesitated, they knocked two dollars off. read more

They won't sell you something if it doesn't have a tag. Terrible policy that only punishes an honorable customer. It wouldn't be completely awful if it didn't happen so often. It has happened to me 4 times now and I've seen it happen to others at the registers multiple times. They need to work better at making sure things are tagged. I get there are fraudulent people who take tags off but your donations are literally free, just get the manager to price it in the moment and move on. Not only is this annoying for loyal customers but your employees are taking the heat from customers who it upsets. And the attitudes they get make them seem rude.. because I'm sure they are tired of dealing with them. Extra star is for a full store and some nice finds. read more

Very bright and neatly arranged, yes -- but full of things I neither want nor need. And I saw NOTHING resembling Prada, Theory, or even J. Crew, anywhere in the store. What I saw were nothing more than donated cast-offs. Now, I know that's kind of the point. But it is simply not for me. Been coming here since I can remember and also we used to live nearby. We moved to Maryland two years ago and we were recently in the area so I thought I'd stop by and get something for my daughter. I was happy to see that they renovated the place but was disappointed at the same time bec there was only one rack for children's clothes and that's for all ages, so I ended up getting stuff for me and my husband instead. read more

This location is small and the selection is very minimal. The set up is not welcoming at all and the store looks very unorganized compared to the other locations. The plus size is that theres plenty of parking in the shopping center and there are tons of food choices. Food will cheer you up when you can't find anything at Goodwill. read more

I must say, this is a great goodwill, I've found plenty of items... even hunter rain boots! I would normally give 5 stars.. However, I'm reducing the number this time.. keep reading to find out why! I was a bit taken back earlier this week during my visit. We all know, it's standard for the cashiers to ask if you want to round up- however this particular time, the cashier basically told me my total was $18... when it truly wasn't... it was only $17 something... now please note, I typically always round up... it's a great cause... and I underhand the reason we are asked... however I don't like the fact that the cashier basically rounded up my amount automatically to next dollar for my final total... quite deceptive in my opinion. Leads me to believe... maybe they are recognized at the end of the day for the number of transactions that are rounded up! So just be cautious... I would prefer to be asked to round up versus it being done automatically So I say this all to say..WATCH your total amounts! Happy shopping! read more

With the brand new Ferragamo's I bought my mom (size 8, too big for me!), the Prada's I bought myself (yes, they are the real deal), the St. John sport sweater with the tag still on that I bought today, the Missioni skirt I picked up, the Max Mara dresses I snagged... well, there you have it. My theory behind this bevy o' loot at the Goodwill? Diplomats don't like to ship stuff home or maybe the desperate housewives of 22207 don't like returning stuff to Neiman's. Whatever. Do a little recon if you really want to shop like a rock star... buy Vogue or get a Neiman's catalogue; arm yourself with label knowledge. I frequent this Goodwill quite often.I like that the clothes are sorted by color and size.Its very organized and clean.My only gripe is how pushy an employee can be about rounding up.I declined to round up and the employee first asks if I'm sure and them lists off what rounding up can do for Goodwill.The items were donated and shopping there seems valuable or at least contributes to Goodwill in a meaningful way. read more

I have to agree with Em K that this is the best Goodwill in the area. I have frequented the Glebe Rd. one and the Columbia Pike one, and while the latter isn't bad, this one has more space, better organization, and much better quality merchandise. During my trip I spied some pairs of Charles David shoes (barely worn), Prada shoes, many separates from Ann Taylor and Banana Republic, and a gorgeous J. Crew suit (like new) for only 10 bucks! What is it with Goodwills lately? Maybe it's the economy, but each time I've gone recently they've lowered prices at checkout when I appear to hesistate about an item. read more

Prices are higher than I'm used to at Goodwill: $8.98 for day dresses, for example. The store is stuffed to the gills with nice brands, though, like J Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, Ann Taylor. I am new to the area and wanted to explore some thrift stores, so I decided to check out this Goodwill. I was pleasantly surprised! The employees were by far the nicest I have seen at any Goodwill. The guy at the checkout was very pleasant and polite, even to some difficult customers (I was in the store for a very long time, so I overhead several interactions). I would like to alert parents about the pricing of children's clothing at this store. They have very good and clear signs for prices of infant/toddler sizes 0-4 clothing at $0.98 for tops and bottoms and Children's sizes 5-20 tops and bottoms $2.98. After waiting an inordinate amount of time in line I attempted to purchase a pair of children's size 2 pants and a size 3 top.The teller charged me $2.98 each, and refused to look at the label sizes. After complaining to the manager in charge Saturday evening and actually showing her their nicely printed signs she snapped at me that if I wanted the items had to pay $2.98. She also refused to look at the label sizes in the items. I was also told if I wanted to purchase the items I had to go to the back of the line (another 20-25 minutes). Inefficiency and erroneous price signs? Or just plain rudeness? read more
