The employees are super nice here but it's gone from being a drop off location and large store to being a drop off center with a small book/CD/vinyl/DVD/art and yes VHS area. They have a decent selection and prices are cheap but know before you go so you aren't expecting a full store. read more

This location is a drop off donation point as well as books, music/dvds, artwork & some toys only. If you want the one with clothes & etc... go to the one at Seven Corners: 6136 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044 (Willston Shopping Center). Its in the same strip mall as 5 Guys, Safeway, Chick-fil-a... Anyway, this location has softcover books & cds for around $0.99 & hardcover books $1.99. They also have sale items depending on color price sticker if you are a member (sign up free). Although the selects are hit and miss, you can't beat the prices for music and books. Much cheaper than other thrift stores. Some cds are still in plastic. I see a lot of younger people browse for vinyl records and there is also a good selection. Most are from people's personal collections. Can't be the prices. Getting in and out can be tricky depending on traffic. And if you feel generous, round up to the next dollar cause you definitely save a lot shopping for your music and reading needs! read more

I stumbled across this new-to-me Goodwill Books & Art location after leaving a nearby Yelp Elite shindig. I'm game for all things thrift, so I just had to stop by. This location is smaller than the others and doesn't sell clothing, shoes, housewares, or furniture. So this is good for those only looking for books (including comics!), music, toys, and artwork. I didn't buy anything, but did a quick walk through to see what's up. I liked the simple and neat set up. Everything was well-organized and each section was labeled accordingly. I'm back again with an update to rating this Goodwill. Unfortunately, it's gone from one of my favorite locations to a spot I probably won't visit in the future. It's become a donation drop off hub plus art/books center. The thing is, they accept fewer kinds of donations than other Goodwills. I came by with a small shelf (small enough to fit in a regular car and for one person to carry) and was turned away. I was told they don't take furniture, and that I should instead go to the Seven Corners location--except that store has a sign saying they don't take any donations. I was also told I couldn't use the dumpster on property to dispose of it. I don't know why this location bills itself as a primary donation center if they can't take things that are accepted at other Goodwills. It makes me wonder what else might not be accepted here. I'll just bring things to a different drop off in the future, or I'll donate to another organization. I'm not interested in shopping for media at Goodwill. I'd rather go to a curated music store, the library, or a bookstore--places where employees can help me find what I'm looking for. So I don't see myself choosing to shop or donate at this location moving forward. read more

Well they really changed this place it used to be much bigger and now it's mostly a donation center with a small area for books and a tiny area for art. The resale book scanners (vultures) literally live here all day long and accost the poor employees as they're putting the books out. I felt so bad for them watching this. There are no good books left for the community to read once the scanners take all of them and they're there every.single.day.all.day. It's a sad state of affairs. I think it's time that goodwill ban these people so that the local community can get some decent books every once and a while. 9/8/22 On 9/4/22 my wife had clothing and fashon accessories to donate. We stopped by the Goodwill Store to get rid of the merchandise my wife had, but also checkout the store itself. Well unfortunately, The Goodwill Of Greater ( as the name is now called) in Falls Church is no longer an actual store. It seriously a shadow of its former self. Movies which were mostly DVD versions, paintings and some toys were all that were left in the store. Speaking of store, the new entrance has you going to the left once you walk through the doors. Blue curtains block you from seeing the rest of the store. Why curtains? Well to answer this question, you should know this store has become strictly a donation center. Once the leftover merchandise is sold, customers won't be able to go into the store. All stuff donated at this store will be sent to other stores. A woman I call Gertrude explained the change to us at this store. Oh, well. Now I know something I did not know since the last time I was here. read more

During my trip to Springfield VA from PA I tried to hit up as many thrift stores as I could that were in the area. This is one that made the cut and probably one of my favorites of all I visited that day. The outside is very modern and has a mid century kind of feel. Inside the space was clean, with higher ended items by the doors within a glance of the centrally located circular check outs. As I reseller I headed straight for the housewares which was currently being stocked. I found several pieces I liked but the prices were higher than I'm used to and ultimately I left them behind due to slim profit margins. Many pieces were not priced and I had to get one of the floor employees to price it for me. Housewares were loosely arranged by color, with better items on the endcaps. Linens had a pricing system I never saw before except in this general area of Maryland/VA and are based on size. Each size is a different color and you have to refer to the chart at the end of the isle for pricing. Clothing was also higher priced and had a similar pricing system only it was based on item. I did buy several pieces I liked for myself, trying them on over my clothes as dressing rooms in this area are still closed. I did feel the racks were organized and their sorting process on point as I didn't see anything damaged. Something you don't see too often was a small section dedicated to the needs of the elderly with walkers, canes, equipment, and even wheel chairs (priced as $49) Upon entry there's a sign indicating what color tags are on sale. Do be sure to take note of it when entering however I struggled to find any inventory with that tag color. This is a nice Goodwill, much cleaner than others, and appears to be recently built or recently remodeled. I'd definitely add this to my list next time I'm in town. read more

Unfortunately that has changed and along with only being an "art and book" store these days, loud/hazardous drywall work was being performed during business hours and the pricing is out of control. I arrived at this location without reading reviews of the place. I didn't realize that this location only has a small corner of the entire building for books, picture frames, DVDs, and a few games. Nothing else. I found a nice wooden cookbook stand & the employee took it from me and said it wasn't for sale. Interesting since no book was on it? Won't be returning. read more

I wasted more than an hour at this Goodwill today. I'd been to the Unique thrift store in Merrifield several times recently and haven't been very happy with what they've had to offer so I decided to take a trip to this Goodwill to see if it would become one of my new "go to" spots to shop. I was completely underwhelmed. The store is a lot smaller than I'd expected. Also, they don't price each item individually, they have racks of the same kind of clothing (shirts, pants, jackets or dresses etc.) and at the end of the rack it says price for that rack. I don't know why on earth they have implemented this type of pricing system but am shocked anyone is willing to pay what they are asking for. For example, the shirts rack said all shirts were $5.99, that means an old navy shirt is $5.99 and if you happen to find a ralph lauren shirt that is $5.99 too. It makes no sense. Don't they look on ebay and know that there are SO MANY brand name clothes in much better condition than what they are offering and oftentimes in better condition and for a better price? Ridiculous. I think I looked at almost every single item of clothiing in the entire store except for the kids clothing and the dresses. The dress rack was priced at something like $13.99 which is RIDICULOUS!!! The back of the store is supposed to have miscellaneous items, but all I saw was a bunch of worthless garbage. Literally. I'm not even trying to be mean or anything, I'm honestly saying if the items they have in the back of the store were on a shelf in my home I would put them right in the trash. I don't know how this place stays open, but I don't think I'll ever go back again. read more

I donate here regularly, and they are always polite and helpful and offer me a receipt for my donations. Today I found a nail in the drop off area- so watch out, just a heads up. The real reason I am writing is that I perused the store after dropping off today and found a baseball mitt that would be suitable for my son in the toy section. I brought it to the register and because it did not have a price tag they told me they needed 24 hours to price the item. So I needed to leave without purchasing. The employee and manager, Nakeem, were extremely brusque and unapologetic about the situation. I would think that, it being their oversight that it was on the floor and not priced, and my inconvenience, that they would have been nicer. Oddly, I left feeling like they were thinking I was trying to pull a fast one. Later I called and spoke to Nakeem and again, he offered no apology or kind words. Weird. Overall as much as I like this Goodwill, this experience has left a bad impression of them valuing me as a regular donator and occasional customer. read more

I've been to Goodwill in every state that I've traveled through and this is the cleanest one I've ever stepped foot in. It's well organized, easy to navigate through, and the employees are very courteous. The store is small and so is it's selection, but plenty of donations should mean plenty of turnover. While Goodwill provides a service to the community, all controversies aside, I can't understand why prices are so high. Stores like Goodwill draw people, like me, with the expectation that things are priced to sell. I found several items exorbitantly priced and our small group left without considering any purchases. I've never experienced sticker shock at other Goodwill locations and I feel that this locale is the exception. This is the second time I've visited this particular Goodwill and walked away feeling perplexed over the same issue. Verdict: Prices are too high for this guy. Where there is another Goodwill, there is way. read more

i think goodwill is hit or miss, and each location seems to have different pricing strategies. i found three excellent condition pillow cases (total: $2.90) in arlington blvd store in VA. excellent price! unfortunately i did not see any furniture there. I bought two large laundry baskets ($4.99 each) on Glebe road store in VA. decent price, but not great! i found this store has decent amount of furnitures, but seem pricey. so, i did not buy furniture. I also found a tiny money figure, not priced. The cashier looked at it and decided to charge $1.99. i told her no. i was only willing to pay $0.99. I think the cashier should be trained to ask customers what they are willing to pay and make a decision to sell or not sell. chances are that tiny money thing will go back to sit on the shelf for a long time, and may never sell. $0.99 is still better than nothing. anyway, i enjoy hunting in good will. and i think many customers in the store too. could we afford buying new things? chances are yes. but i enjoy hunting and getting a good bargain. read more

This Goodwill location was A-OK. Of the 3 locations in the area, this one was far from a stand-out. There was only a minimal selection of CDs and DVDs. The clothes selection was ok. Things were definitely more along the lines of middle-aged type clothing. Even still, the suit selection left much to be desired. The blazer selection was fairly small. The random knick-knack selection and home accents sections were the best of the 3 locations (lots of nice decorative pillows, but at an outrageous price in my mind at $8 and $9). There were lots and lots of nice glasses, but the cookware section overall was pretty crappy. The only thing that could possibly be worthwhile is that there were numerous crock pots and I think I saw a couple of rice cookers, too. For clothing, I really think there are some much better Goodwills to do some digging at. This one is fairly new and still needs some time to build a nice inventory. In terms of donating, this donation center is a well-oiled machine. The donation guys are kind and efficient. I just walked over with my bag, not quite sure what to do, and the guy kindly took the bag off of my hands with a smile and a kind greeting. Now that's what I'm talkin' about. It couldn't have been easier. I must admit, however, that I wish I'd given my stuff elsewhere because Goodwill is so pricey, so I can't imagine how helpful it would be to those in need. I will definitely bear that in mind in the future. Maybe Goodwill ought to offer discounts on a daily basis for those on a fixed income in one form or another (pension, welfare, unemployment, etc) or for those who qualify for other forms of government assistance. read more

My mom is a regular customer here. She went here a couple weeks ago and wanted to purchase a picnic bag priced at $12.99. When she got to the register, the cashier asked why the bag was so heavy and my mom said because it comes with a dish set. They tried to take the dishes out and offered the same price for just the bag. My mom said absolutely not. They even accused her of changing the price. This is not the first time this happens. I went to drop off items for donation and to treasure hunt at Goodwill on 10/1/16. It felt like they had an ample amount of staff taking donations. The drop offs at this location are also very easy to locate. The location of this Goodwill was relatively organized. However, they're lacking in their home good selections. I also felt the large and plus size section clothing choices were a little sparse. However, the staff inside (much like outside) were functioning well. I was impressed before any type of long line developed at the cash register that the staff jump up to the front to open multiple registers. In a nutshell, a good thrift store experience (and if you live or work in the area worth a stop) but there was nothing outstanding about this shop that would make me go out of my way for it. read more

It has a good diverse amount of clothes and shoes that are in great condition even with some stuff being never used with tags on them. - This is a donation center - Parking is ample. - Furniture and jewelry are limited. Why is this 4 stars versus 5 stars? There was a team lead in there that I kept hearing belittle her associate. It made me pretty upset because it was constant. She was openly disrespecting him in front of the customers and talking down to him as if he was stupid. He was just a regular guy doing his job, and she had a superior complex that I called her out on. She apologized to me that she came off as brash, but the sincerity behind it lacked merit. She kept going at him after the fact. It's sad and hopefully I am not the only one who saw it. Aside from this incident - I'd say this is worth a few more visits in my future. read more

This is a mostly convenient location on Annandale Road off 50. They have a pretty extensive selection but not as well laid out as some other Goodwill shops in the area. Things are strewn about the store with some semblance of order but not everything is all in one spot--for example glassware may be on top of the clothing racks as well as in the housewares section, even the same item of a set might be in multiple spots. They're definitely maximizing space but a little more order and structure would go a long way. They have a good selection of books but they're not organized well so finding something you want takes patience. For the most part staff are nice and polite there are definitely others who are, I wouldn't say rude, but are more curt. There is plenty of parking out front and dropping off donations is a quick, efficient process, in nearly all kinds of weather. read more

This place is AWESOME! I have never been more impressed by a Goodwill. This store is clean and organized, the items well-edited, and the donations process quick and properly staffed. Other thrift stores could do well to follow their lead. For donations, you just pull up to the back, and there will be staff there to help you unload. They do have some rules, such as no already opened board games. Something I noticed that made a positive impression: there's a sign on the door stating that everyone gets a fair shot at the items - the staff aren't allowed to shop at the store and nothing is picked over or held before customers see it. This shows because the items are in often in good condition or unused/new. They even have a few sections of new discount items and clothes with the tags still on. Even though I usually only find 1-2 good items when I go to a thrift store, this time I left with two striped shirts, a crew neck sweater, a cardigan, a denim skirt, and a pair of bronze pumps. Major haul! The clothing items are priced by type - e.g., skirts $6, shirts $5 and the shoes are priced individually ($5-15 it looked like). I think the book section of any thrift store also can tell you a lot. At this store, there are only books in good condition, similar to what you would feel comfortable loaning to a friend; nothing yellowed or torn. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for quality thrift items and if you don't want to spend a lot of time picking through crap to get to it. However if you prefer "digging" more through piles of stuff to find your treasure, this might feel too much like a regular store for you. read more

Their clothes selection wasn't very large but my girl did try on some vintage suit pieces, no luck on that front though. This is a good Goodwill. As usual, the selection of women's clothing greatly surpasses the men's and that's ok; dedicated male thrifters would have accepted this reality long ago. Ladies, I'm sure you'd find some cute stuff there. And guys, lots of ties, suit coats, khakis (not so many jeans), dress shirts, and, when I was there last weekend, a surfeit of rain boots. The size of their T-shirt section is nothing to write home about--I collect tees--but I found three that were appealing, an unusually high number for me. A lot of used kitchen appliances, a whole rack dedicated to miscellaneous chargers and ext. cords, and a diverse selection of plastic and dishware. The book section is remarkable. Be prepared to scan, head cocked to the side, eight cases that are five feet wide and ten feet high (I'm estimating) full of fiction and nonfiction. They even provide a stepping stool for those who are serious searchers. The size of their CD section is also considerable. A lot of obscure artists and outdated PC games, but put in the time and you may find something you like. I came away with "Demon Days" from the Gorillaz, Third Eye Blind's debut album, and "The Bedroom Tapes" from Carly Simon. Also in the music section there's a collection of vinyls and a rack of cassette tapes, as they resist obsolescence. This Goodwill also has a miscellaneous offering: socks and underwear still packaged, cheap products like dish soap, deodorant, paper towels and the like, furniture in the back, paintings, and aged electronics. Overall, I think it's worth the trip to Falls Church If you like to patronize secondhand stores. They leave some things to be desired, but I've seen a lot worse. read more

So I live visiting Goodwill locations I find tons of good stuff. My family and I we dedicate our selfs on buying clothes, shoes and accessories for people who are in need back Home. Anyways, I visited this store for the first time and I was surprised to find lots of great stuff. I had this particular item that was brand new with tag at a very low price. BUT when I was checking out the cashier say to me " ma'am I can't sell you this item for this price, whoever price it didn't do it right because is a brand named item(very Bradley wallet) it was mark for 6.99$ . I told her I wanted it anyways she went to talk to Someone in the back and came back with a new price of 12.99$ I still got it because it was still a low price. But I was a little confused on how they change the price when they realized it was a branded name . Still gonna come Back though since is close to me. read more

I love this store. It is close by and I always drop off my reusable shoes and clothing, furniture and other items that I do not want any longer. I have yet to find someone who is not kind and helpful. I have one large old TV, and am not sure if it can be fixed. Do you take them? I have taken others to be recycled. Not only do I donate things here, but I sometimes shop here too. I have found good framed original paintings and also nice framed prints of art. Nice vases, and cookware. I do not shop for clothing, because I have too many of them. I also found nice cookbooks and other kinds of books. I have bought drink glasses and the prices are the same as the glasses in Ross. I just regard it as a store where it is not necessarily the cheapest store, but as a store where you also can get good quality used item that you will not be able to buy in discounted stores, because they are 'antiquated' and not current. read more
