I'd read a…read morelot about it in the weeks leading up to this event and was set on trying this truck out before I went to any others today. That's exactly what I did. The menu offers several types of grilled cheeses, including the "As You Wish" (come up with your own; $4), grilled cheese sliders (2 for $7), Cuban sliders (2 for $7.50) and Gouda burger sliders (2 for $8.50). Several different cheeses, including butterkase, are available. Macaroni & cheese also is offered; a side is $1.50, and a full order is $4.50. Since it was ridiculously hot out and I didn't want to try anything too extravagant, I decided to order a grilled Swiss cheese and tomato on Cuban bread. (This qualified for the $4 "As You Wish" deal.) Very good! Since I kept it simple, I didn't expect the most amazing grilled cheese ever, but the one I had is one of the better ones I've tried in town. The bread is very good. I'm impressed and will have to try another, and possibly more interesting, one at a later date. Soft drinks ($1), lemonade ($2) and strawberry lemonade ($2.75) are among the beverages offered. Coconut-lime bars ($1.50) and almond macaroons ($2.25) also are available. I now feel silly not ordering one of the bars and/or macaroons since I read earlier that the truck had them. Next time, for sure! The people at the truck are very friendly. A woman at a table sits outside the truck and takes orders, and children (presumably the owners' children?) help to serve the food after the cooks have prepared it. Cool! One child in particular was very friendly and probably thought I was a little crazy as I ordered, since I was soaking wet due to the unbelievable heat out there today; he asked if I wanted a beverage, and I said I didn't. Not sure what I was thinking there. Really could've gone for a strawberry lemonade ... I'm sure most local Yelpers who go to the food truck events will see this truck around. Give it a try! P.S. Non of the cheesey goodness salivated my taste buds. Nothing Gastro here. So I settled for Mac and cheese and Tomato Bisque soup. The Mac and cheese was nothing special, no distinct stand out. So was the Tomato Bisque, very blah. Maybe I should have tried one or a couple of the cheesey goodness. Next time, or ???? If the catchy word "Gastro" is being used because of the surgence of "Gastro Pubs" great! But something gastronomical has to come from the truck. Not so sure grilled cheese qualifies. The meat alternative was delicious! It was a "meat" made from Hibiscus flowers. The owner was very kind to explain her concept and how she made the meat. It's dried hibiscus flowers soaked in their own juice. The meat comes out like a soft jerky, and it was delicious! The tacos were amazing! Very flavorful! They were street tacos. 2 for $10 is pretty good for a speciality taco. I could easily eat more!

During my visit, I opted for the Arepa con Todo (chicken, steak, shrimp, cheese mix) and it didn't disappoint. Placing that warm Arepa in my frothing mouth put me in a state of jubilation. Especially with all the different flavors bursting in every bite. As an added bonus, you can request 2 different sauces with your Arepa. They offer a cool, green cilantro sauce and a mayo/ketchup sauce. The sandwiches were a little smaller in size than we had expected, but they were also more filling than we had expected, so I guess it all works out. My wife and I both loved our sandwiches, though I would have liked a few more pickles on my Cuban. The shrimp ceviche was good, but the shrimps were overcooked and a little rubbery. Service here was friendly and seemed to be a lot quicker than most of the other trucks. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food and for the quality you receive.

The meat was cooked to perfection, the sauces were delicious and flavorful (lots of great options for sauces, too!), and the way they were put together for pickup was just right. I particularly appreciate how exceptional Manny's customer service is. We ordered online and he kept us in the loop through the whole process, letting us know when they were being prepared, when to pick up, and sending us pics of the food so we knew what was to come! The owner was there and he was very nice and appreciative that we supported his business. There was spicy and regular BBQ sauces and both were so delicious! The chicken meat is tender and juicy, and HUGE with the portions. Two pinchos and you're full! For me at least. I wish this food truck was open daily because there are random times during the weekday I crave their pinchos. Only open on certain days with limited hours. It's worth the drive from where I live. It is warm , inviting, and cozy. The food is absolutely delicious- all made from scratch family recipes. The macaroni and cheese was the best I've ever had- and the barbecued chicken was really good too! Now, the banana pudding... we heard about the banana pudding from friends before we tried this place almost a year ago...however, they were always sold out when we went. We got to try it today and it was worth the wait . It was actually so good that we waited for them to make another batch (they sold out while we were eating) to be able to take 2 of them home for later. Moral of the story: get the banana pudding.
