I was in downtown Boston for a meeting, and stumbled upon this corner cafe... WHAT A FIND!!! It's a piece of Australia in the USA, with friendly service and an original flat-white! I also tried an amazing chocolate-coconut covered sponge-cake pastry (drooling just thinking about it). I really wish this was my neighborhood coffee shop! I was soooooo stoked to find this place after I studied abroad in Australia! very reminiscent of my abroad experience, all cooped up in a coffee shop! Loved the assortment of offerings they had. They even had Tim Tams! My only complaint was that they sold them by piece and at the rate they're offering them for, you could buy a box. But it's imported so I get it. This review is one I hope the owner reads. I discovered your shop about a month ago. I have gone there 4 times a week, spending $4.51 each time on a large iced coffee. Always paid with a credit card and happily went on my way. Today, an employee poured my coffee and said "$4.51". I gave him my card and he said it is $5 minimum for credit cards. I told him I had always used a card before and he told me "we may have allowed it in the past because we had a line, but not today. There is an ATM next door." When I asked if he would make an exception today, he said no. This is bad business on a number of levels. How can you have a coffee shop where the average purchase is under $5 and have a $5 minimum for credit cards. I get that there is 3% transaction fee, but come on. I was buying 4 a week. So to save sixty cents in transaction fees you're willing to give give up $18 in weekly sales? And if you are going to have a policy you need to either enforce it all the time or none of the time. Otherwise people don't know what the rule is. And don't tell people to go use the ATM. Do you think someone is going to pay a $3.50 ATM fee so they can get cash to buy a $4 coffee. Needless to say, I won't be back. It's too bad. Even though the coffee was expensive I thought it was good. I do hope you revisit your policy. read more

After being in Australia for several months, I was anxious to return to Boston and try Cuppacoffee. I finally got the chance last week. I understand that the owner is from Sydney and has been living in Boston for 15 or so years, so I wasn't surprised to find that the thing I liked best about Cuppacoffee was the theme. They really nailed it with the paraphernalia and Australian goods available (Tim Tams, pies, etc.). They also have table service, which is standard in just about every Australian restaurant and cafe. That being said, I went in to grab an early dinner before catching a train at North Station and there were very few pies available at that point. The air conditioning was also surprisingly difficult to detect considering it was the middle of July and the interior is tiny. I ended up ordering a bagel with cream cheese and a cappuccino. The cappuccino wasn't great, but the price matched the quality. There was a very small amount of cream cheese included with the bagel, but everything considered, it was the bagel that was the highlight--it was filling and delicious. I found this extremely odd, considering bagels with cream cheese are hard to find in Oz. I suppose they aim to provide the best of both worlds! Final word: this place beats Dunkin' Donuts in terms of charm and quality, but I wouldn't say it's the kind of place one would want to come and relax. I bet it's quite crowded in the morning, but I am also sure that their pie selection would have been better if I had come earlier in the day. For me, it was just fun to revisit Australia via this Boston cafe. read more

Sadly by the time we went there around 9 on Saturday, the good pies were all gone. Yoghurt parfait and coffee were great. They have simple bagels but you come here for the pie. My favorite pie was the egg and meat pie because it had chicken and cheese and vegetables and it was not that spicy so that was very good to eat. read more

Just had a fantastic chicken curry and vegetable pie with a flat white coffee. I've also had the mince meat pies here, and those are terrific too. I posted a photo of my curry pie on Facebook (because yeah, I'm that person) and an Australian friend suggested I try a lamington. Good suggestion! The lamington is a small piece of sponge cake dusted with coconut. It might also have a light cover of chocolate -- I'm not sure about the chocolate. Anyway, try a lamington. In fact, try everything, because everything I've ever had here has been very good. And, there's always at least one Aussie behind the counter. read more

We had a court date (no fun) but got to Boston early and decided to try this place out. Coffee was v good we got a caramel latte and regular cappuccino. I like how on the wall there's a visual of what each coffee name means and how much milk/steam/espresso is in each type it was very helpful and fun to learn new terms. Cute atmosphere and since they're Australian they had some books to look through while sitting at the bar. My latte was a little colder than I'd like (I like my drinks like piping hot) but that tends to happen a lot unless you ask for the milk extra steamed to heat it up more which I forgot to do. I'm from New Zealand, and had been struggling to find a decent antipodean coffee in Boston, so made a point of coming here as soon as I found out about it. And I wasn't disappointed! This place is very cute! It had a sports bar/coffee shop kind of feel if that makes sense.. It's a small store with bar like seats near the windows. There were two female workers when I went in. They're both very sweet. Recommended me a tea which I really enjoyed. I picked the selection off the green tea. I forgot the exact name but it's something on the lines of Pearl Jasmine. I didn't get coffee but it smelled amazing. Their pastry items looked delicious as well. I would definitely come back again! Give it a try :) read more

Having lived in Australia, I am a little biased... But this is the closest you'll get to the beautifully crafted lattes of Oz in Boston, not to mention the meat pies and sausage rolls. Heaps good, good on the owner for getting this place up and running and nailing Aussie decor. I had a hazelnut latte which was delicious and a breath of fresh air from the marginal drinks you get from Starbucks. For some reason I just wasn't trying this place. I finally stopped this morning and this will probably be my new morning stop. The iced coffee in the financial district leaves a lot to be desired. I was enthused to see this place had cold brewed, but was worried they'd use the same garbage beans that a lot of places use. I was pleasantly surprised! Very good, nice mellow flavor. Bagel was a tad stale, but nothing that would put me off the place. Very friendly staff. Definitely check this place out, especially if you like cold brewed iced coffee. I've gotten a cup-a-coffee here on a few occasions - really, anytime I am in the area for a work meeting and walk by. I can't resist going in. The shop is tiny (with only a wall of stool-seating along the window front) but their coffee packs a punch! FAR better than really any independent coffee shop I've been to, although that number is not many. It trumps my usual (a House Blend from Flour) and blows Dunkin's out of the water (is it even fair to compare the two?). The staff are friendly, patient and welcoming. I felt like a regular on my first visit - that is truly great! I often feel kind of out of place at a new coffee shop; it's one of those places where either you're a regular or you're not (and I'm not talking about how you take your cup). It was really, really nice to walk into a place for the first time and be treated like a important customer. It just goes a long way with me to be comfortable at a place. Bonus points for the guy actually having an Australian accent. The coffee was rich and had a wonderful nutty flavor that I fell in love with. Thinking about it right now kind of makes my mouth water. Next time I go back, I'll have to see if they sell their grinds or beans (I'm sure they do, I just didn't take note). The pastries were standard, nothing to write home about, but it really doesn't matter when the coffee and service are both an A+. Will be back in next time I walk by, no doubt about it. read more

For a casual Kiwi passing by, this coffee shop is an oasis in an Urban dessert. The pies and the sausage rolls were tasty, and a food format that I'm sure Americans will appreciate... The tomato sauce sachets were a bit tough to open. The kind that fold in half like at home would really complete the experience. On the international pie scale of quality ill give it a 6, the pastry is too crumbly and not flakey enough for the pies. The sausage rolls were very good. I loved the fact that Stephanie and Andrea were fast and efficient and clearly enjoyed their work promoting the pie cause with customers that came and went. Guess what? As an added bonus you can buy frozen versions to bring home - I may never leave the house again. Worth keeping in mind for my next rugby party. I really, really, really, REALLY like this place. It's conveniently located by my office, and I go in a few times a week, around mid-afternoon, for a caffeinated pick-me-up when work starts to burn me out. I always leave in a much better mood, due in large part to the incredibly warm and enthusiastic staff, who seem to really make the effort to offer a personalized, friendly experience to all customers (including quirky latte art, which always gets me!!). The prices are also really reasonable-- much better for "fancy" espresso drinks than Starbucks! They also take Level-up, which is a major plus for me. read more

For weeks, Cuppacoffee was all the rage...pre-opening. Location is not at all what I expected, literally a small shoebox of a shop at the corner of a parking lot. I get that it's not the best area to want linger-ers, but to fight over one of five window stools is so not worth it as there is absolutely no breathing room. "Oh I forgot something at the counter, let me just turn around, slight reach, ah, got it!" While I wasn't expecting hoops and yo-yos on opening day, I wish there was a "more to do" made about it. Nothing about my experience made my yearning to return. From the 4 attempts it took to make an iced soy latte, to the fear instilled every time someone climbed up a step stool to reach the pie oven overhead, to the drink pick-up being at the opposite end of the sometimes necessary commodities (oh pardon my reach over the folks queuing at the register), this little place does not seem to be on its way up. I bode thee well, Cuppacoffee, but my loyalty has not been swayed. Such a shame, given the appreciation for quality coffee alternatives other than the "big two" that litter every other street corner. read more

Since I'm suddenly all about coffee (thanks, work), we absolutely needed to find somewhere good to get our fix every morning of our trip. This place was right down the street from our hotel so we checked it out and I'm glad we did, because it ended up being our go-to all week. It's really tiny, so I can't imagine what the morning rush must be like. It wasn't too bad late morning when we went, though, so there were only a few people there. The staff was always really friendly. And the coffee of course was excellent. We had iced coffee every morning since it was hot as balls, and it was super refreshing. We also had some of their muffins which were incredibly good. I usually have blueberry but they didn't have any one of the days, so I got the corn muffin which was exactly like corn bread. And who doesn't love corn bread? If you eat it there, they give it to you on a plate. How cute! It was odd to find an Australian place in the middle of Boston but hey, coffee was good, people were good and the muffins were good so it's all gravy, baby! Next time in in Boston, I'm definitely coming back here. read more

A tiny little place in what almost feels like the middle of nowhere in the city, but it has a really cozy feeling inside! Almost like any other hipster coffee place that serves pastries as well. I only got a cup of coffee there, and although I don't have the fine tastes of a coffee expert, all I can say is that it was really rich! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I came here with a few friends and it was just too small to stay inside for long because a lot of people were coming in and out. read more
