I love love love Vietnamese spring rolls. Just randomly came across this place on social media and had to try it. They make five different assortment of spring rolls with various protein options (chicken, beef, fish, and shrimp) and one tofu option. And the flavor is sooooo amazing. I had to try them all and here's my take on it. The owner was so kind enough to give me all five different sauces they have to try (fish, spicy mayo, spicy tomato, tomato, and peanut-not true peanut because of how common peanut allergies are but forgot what he said they make it out of) 1. Beef: loads of beef with cilantro and noodles wrapped in rice paper. Soooo amazing. Best with the fish sauce. Coming in second was the spicy mayo sauce. 2. Fish roll: white fish grilled layered with cilantro, avocado, and white noodle wrapped in rice paper. Best sauce is definitely the fish sauce!!! I love this roll as well 3. Chicken roll: grilled chicken layered with avocado and white noodle again wrapped in rice paper. I liked this one but would prob stick with the beef and fish next time. 4. Shrimp roll: the classic spring rolls all of us are in love with. Of course this was perfection. Was so stuffed couldn't get a fifth roll but I'm guessing the tofu roll would be tasty. It's a small stall within a larger kitchen concept (lots of various restaurants) in Costa Mesa. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. We ordered 3 rolls but they ended up hooking us up with another one and all of their sauces so we can try it all out. The sauce was a bit bland for me-I like my sauces a bit bold in flavour. As for the rolls-they were fresh ingredients and nicely pack. I liked their beef the best. I visited Cuon on a Thursday early evening. Parking in the designated lot was very limited, so I opted for nearby street parking instead. It's one of the ghost kitchens, so there was a wide selection of different cuisines to choose from. There wasn't much seating inside--just two benches near the front. Was in the area and yelped a good spring roll place and boy did I hit the jackpot! This place, you can't even find it from the street. No signs! I was about to give up and found a very packed parking lot on the corner where it was supposed to be and I thought to myself, it's gotta be epic! There is a food kitchen with about 6 different kitchens, no place to sit down it's strictly take out with a specific takeout counter for all of them! It's all done cleverly with notifications via text. It's so genius. I parked and went in, they have kiosks. They helped me order, I got the pick 4 and ended up with tofu, shrimp, chicken and fish. I asked for a peanut sauce they made it special for me! All were fantastic made fresh, I love old school so loved the shrimp.
