First off, our server was awesome...they also do a great job with COVID cleanliness guidelines and social distancing...the fish is definitely the way to go...it was delicious... I was really looking forward to the oysters, but, they were pretty much all breading...also...the onion rings were not as good as usual...some were all breading and others were burnt onions with only one side breaded...Since my last visit, their prices have really increased...our bill was $36 for a fish sandwich with 2 sides and a fish and "oyster" dinner with 2 waters...$43w/tip...the prices on Postmates is about a third less than ordering directly from the restaurant...not sure what that's about‍... read more

Food was not the greatest , especially the pan fried oysters and the grilled shrimp. The fish was just ok. I would suggest Captains Quarters if you want seafood on the river. The cost was a bit more than expected for what we got. Will probably not go back! read more

We went here Sunday for brunch, the weather was perfect to sit outside by the creek and watch the boated come and go. Our server Aaron was awesome as well as the food. Tonight was a lovely night to dine outside so we went to Cunningham's Creekside. Our waitress knew very little about a number of the menu items and my margarita tasted like lime water. We sat outside on the lower deck to enjoy the weather and boats cruising Harrod's Creek. We were sat next to the wall and not along the rail. This was not a problem as long as the fans were on because it was quite warm and no breeze along the wall. A guest complained about the fan and it was turned off. With no breeze next to the wall we quickly got uncomfortably hot. The table that complained left so the fan was plugged back in. The fan was again turned off and it once again uncomfortably hot. When we mentioned this, the waiter simply looked at us and walked off. If you want mediocre service, watered down drinks and sit outside to enjoy the view, be sure to ask to sit along the rail. read more

We had an excellent experience this evening for dinner. Cunningham's food is always excellent and fresh, but what stands out as exceptional was their service! We phoned in our take out order for dinner for 5. We arrived dockside, within 10 minutes of arrival, they called us, our meal was ready, hot, and in perfect order, even with a couple of bar drinks. They didn't forget a thing! Tarter sauce for the fish, etc. Their efficiency in taking care of us and being prompt so that our dinner was hot was quite enjoyable after a long day out on the river. Relatively busy Sunday afternoon for lunch. (April 13) Just to be clear, I wasn't expecting gourmet food. What I was expecting: - Not have our order lost - After 25 minutes,not being asked, "what did you order again?" and have to reorder. - 15 minutes later, not being told, "We won't do a grilled fish sandwich" and placing another order. - 10 minutes later, not receiving our order, including the impossible-to-make grilled fish sandwich. - 5 minutes later,not receiving a replacement sandwich to which we're told, "we can remove it from your bill". - Not being charged for said replacement sandwich and an additional round of drinks we didn't order. - Not being answered curtly and as if we're a bother. I 100% understand that things happen but this was the worst service I've ever experienced in five years of living in Kentucky. read more

We were on our way to Captains Quarters and saw this place, and with the parking lot full (always a good sign), decided to stop for lunch. Couple notes...wife had the fish, shrimp, and oysters which came with a salad. Mid-July and the salad was wilting, the tomatoes were pink, and it lacked any freshness that you would expect mid-summer. She loved the fish and oysters, but as she had gotten the shrimp grilled, it was now cold by the time we had gotten it. I got the Rueben...I know...why not the fish?? First thing noticed was a hair on the pickle....ughhh put the pickle aside...ughh. Rueben was ok, chips were from wal-mart, not a great impression...maybe the hair ruined my appetite...oh well. Fish seems to be the thing to order...gave the place two stars for the fish, otherwise it would have been one. We'll try again and hope for no hairs, and I'll order the fish next time! read more

I had never heard of this place but acquired a coupon so we drove on out to Prospect to give it a try. Weekday at 6pm and it was a challenge to find a parking spot. Although it was probably the nicest evening of the year, I suspect their outdoor seating options helped attract the business...... that HAD to be why. We didn't score an outside spot and were advised that there was some tech issue which would require cash or check. We forged on and were seated in the back room. The tables have seen better days. Vinyl covered with knicks and stains and wobbled. Not a good 1st impression. We were waited on fairly quickly. The menu was a little different than I saw online and their offerings scaled down quite a lot from their now closed downtown location. The fish sandwich was VERY good and I could tell from surrounding tables ordering such, that must be their renowned offering.... didnt get my mac n' cheese. My dinner date ordered the hot turkey sandwich and it was very generic. Instant mashed potatoes, can gravy with dry mac & cheese. He also ordered onion rings which he had to remind the waitress about because they were not brought with his meal, and like previous reviews, were overcooked (he said the worse he has ever had). We were over charged $2 since never got my mac & cheese, but hey... we did have a discount coupon so let it go. I figure this is an okay place if you live in the area or are on the river boating and just need a bite. We, however were not impressed enough to drive across town to revisit. First time eating here last night (Saturday) and the place was busy when we arrived (5:45) and quickly got even busier. The interior isn't much: a bar that you almost run into as you walk through the door and no place to stand as you wait to be seated. There's numerous muted TVs and a deafening volume as people struggle to be heard. The service was adequate and polite. The food was simply average. My fried fish was fresh but overcooked, the fried fish tasted frozen. The onion rings were barely edible and the potato salad tasted like it came from a container. The grilled fish looked and tasted the best but it had too much pepper for my wife. We felt rushed to leave because of the crowd. Nice views of the water if you eat outside. Asked for a Reuben and requested fries in place of the potato chips (which are a cop out as a side item). I was shocked to see that I was charged the full price for the fries and said to the waitress that every place I've ever been to only charges $.60 - $1.00 to substitute for fries, and if she's going to charge full price I should've received my chips too. She said, "oh, that makes sense, but our owner's a cheapskate." 'Nuff said. I have a problem paying almost $10 for a handful of fries and a Reuben the size of a PB&J made at home - I had grown to like this place because of the quality and quantity, and the friendly neighborhood feel, but that has changed. I have been in for 3 visits now and it's been good every time but the Sunday Brunch buffet is the sticking point. Total without tip for the entire buffet plus drink ran $14.79 per person. It's well worth it. This is country food. Make no mistake. The Hot Brown casserole, Bread Pudding, and Stewed Maters should tell you that. Be sure to get there early and on a nice day grab a seat out on the patio. The view is relaxing and the staff makes you feel at home. I have lived in Louisville all my life and this is the first time I've been here. I was not disappointed. We sat out side on a relatively hot day but was cool enough with the patio fans. We ordered the fish platter with 2 sides, green bean and Cole slaw. The fish was crispy, not greasy and a super huge serving which I had no problem eating all of it . The green beans were very flavorful. They were either fresh and seasoned wonderfully with a slight Smokey flavor to them or canned and they really know how to rid the canny taste. Either way I couldn't tell which. I was always told they are on the 'river' but they are on the Creek of the river, it was still beautiful and fun to watch all the boats and canoes. There's plenty of TVs for sports, and the staff is very accommodating. The building could use some upgrades however...especially that bathroom lol. The bartenders have always been super friendly and I've never encountered rudeness. Food/Menu - 3.8 - 4/5 - There's some room for variety here. They have a great Sunday brunch which is always stocked with fresh food (fried chicken, fried fish, eggs, bacon, sausage, salads/fruit, dessert) and their bar starts serving @ 10am on Sundays which is a bonus. Very southern...hits the spot. Now...if you're not joining them for a Sunday brunch, then you're entering a southern steakhouse with classic dishes, like smothered chopped sirloin, grilled/fried grouper, and a nice t-bone. The location downtown was like my Cheers for years...sorry to see them close, but I doubt the creekside location will run into the same issues. This was a tough one. 3 stars. 4 stars. So let's break it down. It is out there, but a really pretty drive. We road on the back of some Harleys. It was one of those randomly awesome weekends in Louisville. For that matter this last year has been one extended randomly awesome weekend. I digress. Scenery: Win Atmosphere inside: Neutral The eggs, grits, standard breakfast stuff: Loss (pretty much equated to the powder stuff you get at a cheap hotel) Hot Brown Casserole: What a win. This almost gave it that 4th star. But it is too heavy to have more than a little bit of, and the other stuff didn't hold their end of the bargain Definitely worth checking out. Won't be my go to for brunch, but man that casserole. You gotta try it. Maybe just get one order of it and some fruit for the table to share instead of paying the 15ish bucks for the buffet. Today makes my second visit to Cunningham's Creekside. (Blast from the past- My friends and I used to love to dine during the 90's at the downtown Louisville location that burnt down. It was converted from an old whore house during the late 1800's to their restaurant. The dicey rooms were turned into dining areas. I always thought the history part was cool.) Today, my friend and I sat on the balcony of the Creekside location and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine, slight breeze and lovely view of Harrods Creek. We both ordered the fried fish sandwich, french fries and coleslaw for lunch. We enjoyed our meals and our fish was cooked perfectly. Our service was good. By the time we left, the bar inside was quickly filling up. I can see that area probably wouldn't have been great for catching up with an old friend. First stop on the "Tour de Classic Louisville Establishments with My Ballin' Uncle, Former Dairy Kastle Owner." (If you are familiar with Dairy Kastle and the longstanding history of his place on Eastern Parkway, you can imagine my excitement when he volunteered to show me his all-time favorite places in Louisville for food and drinks.) Anywho, long introduction aside, this place was perfect for dinner for our group of six. We ate on the covered patio, complete with cozy heaters, on a very chilly night to enjoy the view of the river. Ambiance was great for our lively, chatty group on a late evening.. but probably not the best spot for quiet reflection or romancin'. My uncle says their best menu item is the fish sandwich, hands-down. But I'm a rebel and went for the whitefish. Very happy with my choice, and had enough food for lunch the next day too (and I rarely do not finish my plate.) Everyone in our party was satisfied, particularly those that opted for the fish sandwich that was suggested. Good food and large portions. My only complaint - The fries were kind of bland. And wouldn't ya know it, they have bunches of TVs around the bar... and if you've read any of my reviews, you know I'm always on the lookout for a good sports bar. Big bonus. read more

Ordered carry out for 10 people to pick up creekside. Called to check on the order 4 times over a 2 hour window. Was told multiple times it was 'almost ready'. Finally tied up the boat and went in. Server told me that the order never was entered! I hate being lied to! Staff was too lazy to even check the order the 4 times I called to check. The fish sandwich is $10 , so u can get all u can eat for $2 more !!! I'm half tempted not to write this review so that I can keep this brunch location the best kept secret in town. We arrived for brunch with a party of 6 at 11:45 and we were seated right away. The fried fish is my favorite in town. Their coleslaw, mac n cheese and green beans are all fantastic and all are on the buffet. $11.95 for adults and $5.95 for kids 3-10, make this brunch a great value for families. The indoor seating is limited but the seating more than doubles once the weather is nice enough for the patio and other outdoor seating to open. read more

Solid bar and related bar food. A lot of boaters, bikers, stoners, and hippies. All in all, my kind of crowd. Enjoyed not seeing the hipsters or blue bloods. We(2 middle age couples) ordered a rousing round of drinks on the porch, and never saw that waitress again. They sent out a back up couple of servers, deciding a team approach was warranted, and much safer. Both very friendly, an"experienced" waitress, and an equally "experienced" trainee, both were great. Good personalities and quick with the food and beverages. Slaw - excellent, Fried fish sandwich - nun better, baked fish sandwich - equally fantastic. I'm really glad that they reopened after the flood, though rather disappointed at the dining in experience that Mom and I went through recently. We usually do carry-out, so I don't know if this is the normal for eating there versus taking the food home. Also, this place is open on Mondays, even though some sites have them listed as closed. Their food portions are very large for the price! Mom and I arrived there for food, feeling pretty good about eating there since we eat carry-out frequently and have eaten in once before and had a great experience. We had wanted to eat outside but unfortunately, it was really busy so there was no room on the patio. Instead, we were sat in the very back room, not a bad place to be if you don't want an overly loud dining experience. On the way in there, I could see a waitress complaining to a busboy (maybe?) about tables being taken away from her. I thought that was a little strange since she was talking kind of loudly about it. So we settle into our table and Mom looks through the menu- she always get a fish sandwich of some kind with a side and I always get a plain medium cheeseburger and fries. Our waitress shows up to get our drink order, root beer for us both, and it turned out to be the same one who had been talking to the other worker. She seems pleasant enough and brings our drinks rather quickly and takes our order, then disappears. Not even five minutes later and a server brings up two fish sandwiches and tries to give them to us. After talking back and forth for a few moments, we realize that the food in question actually belongs to the people behind us. So they get their food and Mom and I go back to talking, not really concerned since it is really busy. I finished my root beer while still waiting for our food and I wanted another, only our waitress had not come by yet. Considering how busy it was (I know I keep emphasizing that, but I'm not exaggerating) we figure that she's taking care of one of her other tables. Meanwhile, the waitress for several of the tables in the same room we're in has come through at least 3 times to check on her tables, ask if they need anything, and give them refills on their drinks if they want, or drop off the check. No sign of our waitress and then our food is finally brought and the server tries to give it to the people next to us in a reverse of what happened earlier, though we get it sorted and start eating. It takes me just two bites to realize that my cheeseburger is cooked well done, not medium with a little pink in it, and it is dry and not at all juicy. Additionally, even though I ordered it plain, it came with all the toppings I specifically stated I did not want on it. The waitress finally reappears while I'm sitting there, having eaten the fries while waiting, and I explained that my burger was dry and not cooked medium, which she did whisk it away and place a request for my burger to be remade. I finally got a drink refill- yay! Mom continues eating while I wait, sipping on my fresh root beer and talking with her some more. The waitress reappears and says it will be about 8 minutes for a new burger to be ready which I was pleasantly surprised considering that the influx of customers eating in has not slowed down at all. Our waitress disappeared once more, Mom and I talk, and about ten minutes later, the waitress is back with my new cheeseburger... which is dressed (again) and the cheese was literally just placed on top, still refrigerator cold and not in any way attached to the burger. At this point, I'm frustrated but decide to just scrape off the toppings (which I did the first time bc the waitress wasn't there with the food) and I inform her that the cheese isn't cooked onto the burger, setting it aside and eating the burger plain with just ketchup. And yes, I realize I could have sent it back again but by this point, Mom was finished eating and was just waiting on me to eat so we could leave. For those wondering, the burger was in fact cooked correctly this time, just the way I wanted it. Perhaps sensing that I wasn't really happy, the waitress did appear again while I was eating, offering refills which I accepted, and I enjoyed my burger despite it not being exactly the way I wanted it. Mom and I talked about the tip and agreed to give the waitress a good tip regardless because a lot of it wasn't her fault. She didn't do the cooking and considering that it was the other waitress taking care of the table where the food swapping occurred, I'm inclined to think that it was the kitchen who had the tables mixed and that wasn't really a big deal. I do think she could have checked on us more than she did, especially since her coworker who had most of the tables in the room kept an eye on all of hers and was ready with whatever they needed. The cheese not being cooked onto the burger was shocking to me, considering the price of their food, and it being dressed both times was ridiculous. read more

07-15-20 arrived for dinner. Required a mask to walk 6 steps to table. Only people wearing mask were employees and some of them serving drinks and food with mask below their nose. Our food brought to table with extra plate stacked under our order. When i separated the plates the extra plate was a dirty plate with uneaten food from a previous customer. Saturday evening four of us ate here about 8:00 pm. The place was crowded and the noisiest joint I've been to in a long time. The server forgot an appetizer we ordered and did not apologize or acknowledge his error. Drinkers at the bar were practically shouting. My fish sandwich platter was mediocre. The onion rings were so old and over cooked and petrified I could not eat them. Yet one of us four got decent and fresh onion rings. My fish was edible But my friend J had to spit out parts of his fish plank-too tough. L ordered fried oysters and they were not hand breaded. Looked very processed. My mac n cheese was not tasty. Two of us got luke warm average fries. In my opinion the owners have no apparent sense of pride in managing a restaurant. It was a total waste of time and money for me. read more
