This seems out of place in Norton Commons. It is pretty dark and has the look and smell of a neighborhood sports bar. I may have rated it higher if I went in to watch sports, but I've gotten food there twice (ate at the bar once, and carried out the 2nd time) and found what I got very underwhelming given the rave reviews. The Chicken Scratch Salad tasted like what you'd get at any neighborhood restaurant despite the yummy-sounding ingredients, and The Roost sandwich was fine - nothing memorable. We were greeted by a friendly staff that continued their courtesies throughout our dinner. The menu is somewhat limited but offers many chicken options and a large bar selection. The TVs are slightly loud during game time. My salad was fresh but lacked the dressing (oops) and had some gristle in it. We came back to enjoy Waldo's chicken - but left knowing it'll be our last visit. We each ordered chicken tenders and sides. The tenders are fairly small so 4-5 pcs isn't as filling as other restaurants. Sauces are underwhelming - we had 5-6 kinds. The honey mustard was especially bad. The order of potato wedges was ... awful. The flavor of potato also had a chemical taste, making you wonder about the frying oil they're using in the kitchen. The fries are super skinny and tiny pieces. They weren't very warm and we left most of them on the plate. The one food star is the cheddar biscuit basket and honey butter. I'd order those to go and drive over to the coffee shop. Seating inside and out. A bit of a cafeteria vibe with a bar in the middle and several TVs. Service overall was friendly. Too many other great choices in Norton Commons to spend your dollars, so not worth a return visit. read more

Avoid this location!!! If I could leave zero stars, I would. Waldo's Chicken and Beer was a complete miss and it feels like a management issue, not just a one-off mistake. We arrived around 9:20 PM, were seated, and then...nothing. No server ever came. Meanwhile, multiple employees were standing around and clearly disengaged, with no urgency to help customers. After waiting, my husband had to get his own drink, in a sit-down restaurant. I eventually had to track someone down around 9:30 PM-ish just to get our order taken. When the food came, it was incomplete (missing biscuits), and no one refilled our drinks. My husband went to refill his drink himself again, only to find the sweet tea had already been dumped for the night. Another server casually said they "didn't think anyone else was drinking it." We were told the missing biscuits were "coming," but the server never returned. When we asked, we were told the kitchen had already closed, so we weren't getting them. No one took ownership, no proactive communication, and no effort to make it right. We had to ask for an adjustment, and they took off $2. I've been to multiple Waldo's locations in Tennessee and never experienced anything like this. When staff are disengaged, service is nonexistent, and basic communication is missing, it points to a breakdown in management. Needless to say, I will not return to the Prospect, KY Waldo's. Save yourself the frustration. This location needs serious oversight. read more

Hours say they close at midnight and we came in at 10:20 pm and were pushed away by very rude lazy staff that seemed annoyed we came in. Claims the kitchen closed at 10 but the hours online say open until midnight. Very disgusted with this staff. read more

We tried to go to the new Korean fried Chicken joint across the street, but despite their "open at 11am" sign, they must have been in a different time zone. So, hello Waldo's! We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door and promptly seated. We started with an order of fried pickles. Lightly breaded, crisp and perfectly seasoned. One couple went with a chicken finger basket, with strips, slaw, fries & Texas toast. Another couple went with a trio of tacos. Finally, lemon pepper wings and a side of fries. The fries are more "shoestring" style, but served a hot and crisp. The wings were smallish, but crispy, not greasy and the lemon pepper seasoning was spot on. The wings were served with a few skinny strips of celery, but no ranch or blue cheese side. That may have been my error when ordering. The taco combo disappeared as did the chicken fingers. Even the grandkids polished off their strips. I also ordered a quarter of a rotisserie chicken to take home to the Mrs. Again, a rather scrawny chicken. I appreciated the healthier options on the menu, as she avoids anything fried (her loss). For sides, I added collard greens and a cucumber- tomato salad. I just wish they had brought the "to go" order to the table after we were at least half-way through the meal. Because it was delivered with our main orders, it was cold long before we left. It was our first time there. I don't think they gave enough fried pickles. The onion rings were good. They have a wide variety of sauces. I feel like they cut 1 chicken tender and slice it down the middle to make 2 out of 1. Nice way to make a bigger profit. The potato wedges were decent. They have tons of big screen tvs for sports watching. The shoestring fries were supposed to be extra well done but were soggy so they cooked another batch to redeem themselves. Kendra our waitress was wonderful. Their banana pudding was great. One of the best I ever tasted. They give 15% military discount. A little pricey. Their coleslaw was decent and sweet. I was pleasantly surprised with this place! From the outside and even the quirky decor inside, I wasn't sure what to expect. I will admit that this is some of the best chicken I've had!! I stopped in at Waldo's for my first time there during Louisville's Wing Week! I went shortly after opening, and had my puppy with me, so we sat at one of their nice patio tables with umbrellas. My server was very attentive! The inside looked nice with a ton of tv options, which would be great for a sports event. I ordered the wings from the wing special - 6 wings for $8. I had the wings tossed in buffalo sauce with a side of ranch and blue cheese. I also ordered a side of fries and a sweet tea. Everything came out pretty quickly which is nice if you are there on a work lunch or something. The wings were perfectly cooked and nicely sauced. The buffalo had a nice kick, but not overly spicy! Love the seasoning on the fries. I loved the sweet tea - perfect amount of sweet! There are several other menu items that I need to go back to try that sounded yummy! read more

Great service by Lee Ann today. Fast service, considerate and outgoing. Our food was hot and delicious.

We visited here on a Saturday evening and around dinner time. We watch college football games on their big TVs. The atmosphere is a five out of five for sure. I love the sports bar. Service was OK. I had to go get my own drinks a couple times which was kind of annoying, but I don't mind doing it, they're really crowded but they weren't really crowded so. Food was just OK it's a two. I'd say the best thing about this place is the atmosphere and the location. We got off to a rough start but toughed through it patiently and had a pleasant meal. We arrived at 5:00 to zero clean outside tables and 3 confusing interactions in regards to who was seating us, if we could sit outside, and who was waiting on us. Once we got everything figured out, the food was good. Maybe they were slammed busy and everyone cleared out just before we arrived. Appetizers: fried cauliflower and biscuits I ordered the 1/2 chicken rotisserie with buffalo sauce and two sides of collared greens. She ordered 3 chicken strips with side of wedges, and a buffalo chicken salad (she said it was tremendous) In our opinion, this is more of a lunch stop than for dinner. I've been to Waldo's 3 times and I've had the following items: -Biscuits (pretty good) -Nachos (they are okay) -Pulled Chicken Sandwich (good as well) -Freebird Club (my favorite so far) They have a pretty cool bar and multiple TVs for catching sports games. Haven't tried the food but they have a FABULOUS happy hours every Monday - Friday from3-6pm. Posted their specials. Great bar (one of the large bar spaces in the south village of NC) and the staff are super friendly... and while it may seem weird to point out, their staff is also absurdly good looking. Great place to chill after work or to meet friends for a drink. Pro tip: Waldo's also has more space for larger parties than other restaurants in then neighborhood. read more

I wish I would have listened to the lower reviews. I felt a lot like some of the other people. The fried pickles were way too salty. The cheddar biscuits appetizer was actually really good. My brother really enjoyed his chicken sandwich but wasn't a fan of the undercooked shoe string fries. I got the chicken tenders which had good flavor just nothing special in my opinion The greens were okay. Not terrible but definitely not great. A lot of the sauces were runny. Especially the Alabama white. My mom said the chicken with her nachos had good flavor but as a whole dish it was kind of bland & she did not think the cheese was homemade like the menu said. I'll give this a 3 star, but it's technically right between a 3-4 and I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. Definitely has potential but a few things that I would change. Ambiance was your typical sports bar, big bar area, tons of cocktails and beer on tap too. TVs all over the place playing different games. Big space but half of it wasn't being occupied, and instead a bunch of employees/friends were using it to socialize, both people that seemed to be on the clock and other not working. Not the best look for a business but I didn't care much. Service was at times to much and a bit overbearing even, but I'd rather have that then horrible service. I'll say the food was overall pretty tasty. Decently priced for what you get, but a bit on the smaller side portion wise. Mac n cheese was good, creamy and cheesy but small dish, although only being like $3 so not too surprising. Fries were meh, and seemed like they were just small end pieces n stuff. I had to use a fork to even eat them, but not bad in general. The chicken sandwich could've been SO much better with a few tweaks. Firstly, while I do enjoy thighs - This one was one of the smaller and thinnest pieces I've had in a while (Chik fil a is bigger). The spice was good, not overly spicy but definitely tasted it and had good heat. Lacking big time in the slaw dept, barely any on it unfortunately. While I do appreciate a toasted bun, how can you not even melt the cheese at all...cmon, such a small and easy thing that makes a huge difference for me at least. Also, for what I ordered and how busy it was, it did take longer than I expected to come out as others have also mentioned... While I won't go out of my way or anything to go here again, I would eat here if in the area and looking for some fried chicken.
