a glass of white wine on a table
    Michelle W.

Good place to have a drink. Sat outside on a beautiful day and drank wine. I got a Chardonnay ($9)and Prosecco ($8). The outside seating is under trees so it is cooler. There is also some seating inside but it is a small space. Lots of wine options and you can buy bottles. That also have frozen drinks($9)! To eat you can get bread and oil but not much more that I saw.

We enjoyed sitting on the sidewalk patio after the art festival. Great drinks and food! Bartender was nice and service was quick. Will go back when we are in the area.

Commonwealth Tap is known as being a cozy spot in Norton Commons to have a glass of wine, beer, or whiskey. The bartenders are well-versed and the selection available suits almost any palette and price point. What I didn't realize, before our first visit last night, was that it can get a little loud and rowdy on a game night. We grabbed the last table in the narrow room and discussed the well-curated menu with a friendly and knowledgable server. TVs showing the UofL game were placed at the back and at the bar. Plenty of folks were enjoying their friends and drinks while commenting/cheering/booing UVA. Within minutes of ordering our lovely glasses of wine, and in the middle of our conversation, a verbal brawl broke out at the table next to us. We were expecting a fist fight to ensue as we sipped our drinks and checked for the closest exit. The amped up mood and colorful language continued well after one of the groups departed. Really?!? Middle aged yuppies throwing down here? Never expected this at a taproom/wine bar located in a planned, suburban community. Commonwealth is a lovely spot that, without this type of clientele, deserves four stars. But, booze + sports can equal inappropriate behavior. Even if this was a rare occurrence, the atmosphere created with games on TVs and loud fans wasn't the chill, wine bar I'd imagined. Think we'll wait until warm weather returns and basketball is over to come back and enjoy some wine on the front patio.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a whim when we were early to Norton Commons for an event. I was instantly charmed, and by the end of our brief visit wished that it was more convenient for me to visit! The bar is warm and inviting, as are the bartenders. It appeared as though there is table service, at least when it isn't too busy, but we ordered at the bar. I was a little surprised that there wasn't *more* beer on the menu and available. I was pleased with my ultimate decision. but a place with "Tap" in it's name screams BEER to me. And this seems to be more of a wine bar or a bourbon place. That said, I certainly think everyone could find something to drink and enjoy here! There is ample and comfortable seating. In fact, it feels like there is too much seating. Which is an opinion influenced by the size of the bar height stools. They appear to take up a lot of space, and although there were only 2 other couples in the place and seated at the bar, I had to push some of the stools out of the way to get in the the seat at our chosen table. They have a large front window that can be opened, with the possibility to order from and enjoy your beverage outside. My complaints are minor and were only obvious because of how good just about everything else was. I would certainly be glad to go back sometime!

We stopped by to grab a drink after finishing dinner in a closed by restaurant. This place is pretty cozy, with a small indoor area and a tiny outdoor seating area. Good wine and bourbon selection by glass, or you can open a bottle of wine with $20 corkage fee. They offer Happy hour starting at 3pm, and offer 15%-50% off depends on the time. Will try to hit there for happy hour next time ^^

Quaint spot with outstanding bourbon selection. Relatively small with about 8 seats at the bar and 6 four top tables. They have about 10 craft on tap and a decent wine selection. Service was very good and the cocktails were very well made. Other than a cheese plate and some other random item no other options for food which for me translates into 1 less star.

Finally, if you're into it, you cannot go wrong with their house old fashioned. That said, the seasonal Huber's Apple Crusta was a treat yesterday. I ordered one first and the rim tasted like a salty, caramel-ly, sugary slice of apple pie. Not too sweet, just enough. My dinner date ended up ordering another in lieu of dessert.

I had so many questions about the menu items. She did a great job and we were finally ready to order. I'm glad she didn't give up on us. We chose an appetizer-SPINACH & ARTICHOKE DIP with Pita Chips. Oh My! They were heavenly and fresh out of the oven. For our entrees my husband chose the CHICKEN & WAFFLES. The chicken was a breaded patty atop the Waffles and had a rather large mound of honey butter on top and a ramekin of warm maple syrup. I chose the SMASH BURGER that comes with two 1/3 pound angus beef patties, brie, smoked bacon, apple butter, bibb lettuce, and red onion on a toasted brioche bun. It's topped with apple butter. Let me tell you, it was delicious!! I shared a Caesar Salad for my side. It was very large and we were starting to fill up, but it was great. It had parmesan crisps on it. Mackenzie did a great job bringing out dishes at the proper time. We were really having a wonderful time. The ambiance in the restaurant tonight was kind of quiet. There were couples and galentine groups. We had a great time. Then we decided that the "Special Dessert" that Mackenzie mentioned earlier tonight really looked good. They were BEIGNETS, something different from most restaurants and that we just had to try it. Oh was it Yummy. 4 BEIGNETS, sprinkled with sugar and had a swirl of chocolate inside and a little ramekin of vanilla sauce to dip the beignets in. It was YUMMY! The burrata was so well balanced with the accompanying tomato, the tuna was so juicy and well seared, and the lemon sorbet had me dreaming of lemons for hours after. There is very little personality in the decor, and aside from some unconventional chairs and a tile floor by the bar, nothing really sticks out as pleasing to the eye. I chose this restaurant for Valentine's Day to have a romantic, intimate atmosphere, and the vibe was giving summer camp lunch. The floor plan is very open and super grey, with plain wood tables. Even the servers were in very casual clothing. Any other night this would have been fine, but for Valentine's Day, I wish I had picked something more romantic. Overall I really enjoyed the food here and will for sure be back, just not for any special occasions.
