a glass of white wine on a table
    Michelle W.

Good place to have a drink. Sat outside on a beautiful day and drank wine. I got a Chardonnay ($9)and Prosecco ($8). The outside seating is under trees so it is cooler. There is also some seating inside but it is a small space. Lots of wine options and you can buy bottles. That also have frozen drinks($9)! To eat you can get bread and oil but not much more that I saw.

We enjoyed sitting on the sidewalk patio after the art festival. Great drinks and food! Bartender was nice and service was quick. Will go back when we are in the area.

Commonwealth Tap is known as being a cozy spot in Norton Commons to have a glass of wine, beer, or whiskey. The bartenders are well-versed and the selection available suits almost any palette and price point. What I didn't realize, before our first visit last night, was that it can get a little loud and rowdy on a game night. We grabbed the last table in the narrow room and discussed the well-curated menu with a friendly and knowledgable server. TVs showing the UofL game were placed at the back and at the bar. Plenty of folks were enjoying their friends and drinks while commenting/cheering/booing UVA. Within minutes of ordering our lovely glasses of wine, and in the middle of our conversation, a verbal brawl broke out at the table next to us. We were expecting a fist fight to ensue as we sipped our drinks and checked for the closest exit. The amped up mood and colorful language continued well after one of the groups departed. Really?!? Middle aged yuppies throwing down here? Never expected this at a taproom/wine bar located in a planned, suburban community. Commonwealth is a lovely spot that, without this type of clientele, deserves four stars. But, booze + sports can equal inappropriate behavior. Even if this was a rare occurrence, the atmosphere created with games on TVs and loud fans wasn't the chill, wine bar I'd imagined. Think we'll wait until warm weather returns and basketball is over to come back and enjoy some wine on the front patio.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a whim when we were early to Norton Commons for an event. I was instantly charmed, and by the end of our brief visit wished that it was more convenient for me to visit! The bar is warm and inviting, as are the bartenders. It appeared as though there is table service, at least when it isn't too busy, but we ordered at the bar. I was a little surprised that there wasn't *more* beer on the menu and available. I was pleased with my ultimate decision. but a place with "Tap" in it's name screams BEER to me. And this seems to be more of a wine bar or a bourbon place. That said, I certainly think everyone could find something to drink and enjoy here! There is ample and comfortable seating. In fact, it feels like there is too much seating. Which is an opinion influenced by the size of the bar height stools. They appear to take up a lot of space, and although there were only 2 other couples in the place and seated at the bar, I had to push some of the stools out of the way to get in the the seat at our chosen table. They have a large front window that can be opened, with the possibility to order from and enjoy your beverage outside. My complaints are minor and were only obvious because of how good just about everything else was. I would certainly be glad to go back sometime!

We stopped by to grab a drink after finishing dinner in a closed by restaurant. This place is pretty cozy, with a small indoor area and a tiny outdoor seating area. Good wine and bourbon selection by glass, or you can open a bottle of wine with $20 corkage fee. They offer Happy hour starting at 3pm, and offer 15%-50% off depends on the time. Will try to hit there for happy hour next time ^^

Quaint spot with outstanding bourbon selection. Relatively small with about 8 seats at the bar and 6 four top tables. They have about 10 craft on tap and a decent wine selection. Service was very good and the cocktails were very well made. Other than a cheese plate and some other random item no other options for food which for me translates into 1 less star.

Food 2.5/5: This obviously carries the most weight. The menu itself is excellent and the descriptions and components of each dish sound perfect. The execution was way off! Literally everything was far too salty and we ordered things that should not be salty... diver scallops and black cod. These are delicate proteins that don't need much help. Why oh why over-salt these?! Oddly the cook on both was very good but the seasoning ruined both dishes. Drinks 4.5/5: We had 3 different cocktails all of which were excellent.

This charming spot offers a…read morespacious patio in the back, perfect for lively gatherings, and a cozy, intimate front patio great for people-watching. Inside you will find a warm and inviting atmosphere with nods to the charming Victorian architecture of Northern KY. My server, Katelynn, was incredibly sweet and attentive, taking time to walk me through the menu and highlight awesome daily specials they have throughout the week. The food...Chef, you are an all-star. The simplest details were nailed. For example, my po'boy had the perfect crispy bread exterior (thanks to Madeline's choosing Blue Dog Bakery bread--smart), but the warm sauce, a mojo rojo, leaked into the airy pollow dough at the center of the baguette and softened it slightly, soaking up all the delicious flavor. The sandwich was a perfect balance of spice from the sausage, tartness from the mayo, and the acidic-bitter contrast of the pickled red cabbage and fennel. I started with the mushroom dip. Again, Chef, it was absolutely wonderful. It had that comforting, creamy texture we all want in a dip but elevated with rich, fragrant mushroom goodness. Perfectly baked with breadcrumbs on top, adding that perfect crunch to dance with the texture of the dip and baguette. Then (I know, this is crazy, but I was genuinely over-excited) I tried the breakfast burrito with bacon. The potatoes had just the write texture, beautifully juxtaposed with the crunch of high-quality bacon--fatty and cripsy--perfectly cooked. The chipotle mayo on top added the a great smokiness and slight heat. Two of my dishes came with simple chopped romaine as a side salad. Looks totally unassuming, but the house-made parmesan dressing was so delicious. And I think this salad perfectly sums up the food here... sounds simple enough, yet wonderfully done. Totally approachable food prepared by someone who clearly knows flavor and has most likely traveled or at least been influenced by global flavors. Are you still reading? I know this is a lot--so go there immediately! But I am going to wrap this up: I also loved my cocktails. Their peach nectar bellini with cava as a wonderful balance of dry and sweet. The tequila, strawberry, jalapeno and cava cocktail was so refreshing with a little bite from the jalapenos. Both entirely my kind of drinks. I love this place and cannot wait to come back. I hope to lose many a sunny day on their patio. Oh, and here are the weekly specials my server mentioned: Tuesday Prix Fixe Wednesday $25 Bottles of Wine Thursday Oyster Night Enjoy!
