Indian food done right here. I love that you can pick your protein and choose whatever type of base you want paired with it. For example, I love saag paneer but I am not a fan of paneer so here I just opted to get saag with vegetables and it was perfect. All the dishes here were excellent and they are extremely generous with their portions. The only cons I have are that they don't offer tap water so you're forced to buy bottled water or any other drink at a cost. Also, I think they use a ton of MSG in their food (which is probably why it is so tasty) but if you eat a lot here, you'll probably feel pretty bloated afterward. Other than that, I really enjoyed my meal here and would certainly come back here to get my Indian food fix. read more

I've never been to the location but have ordered take out from here regularly. The food is consistently delicious, fresh and different from the typical Indian fare. My go-to orders are the Channa saag (best spinach/chickpea dish ever), butter chicken and the chicken korma. The prices are higher than some other Indian restaurants, but it's worth it and the portions are large. read more

I am away from home on a business trip from Florida, with some colleagues of mine, and while staying at a long business day, we decided to go to Cumin N Eat, as we all enjoy Indian cousine. As we strolled into the establishment, an EXTREMELY handsome gentleman greeted us. In his underarmor athletic tee, he smiled with his extremely white and beautiful teeth and seated us. We quickly and eagerly selected our menu items and got to waiting! Thankfully the wait was quick and short. The decor was simple, elegant, and gorgeous. Now for the food. Simply put.... WHOOP ASS!!!! Every single dish was apex. Some of the, if not the BEST indian food I have experienced. As the plates came out I had to stifle a cartoonish yelp out of excitement!!! Every single bite was aromatic full of umami. Every single one of my colleagues and me ate every bite available of each dish. The devilishly handsome gentleman was quick and attentive to giving us beverages and anything we needed, with a smile on his face each time! This little place was amazing. The food was fresh and spiced to perfection. I had Chicken Vindaloo spiced hot and my friend had lamb vindaloo spiced medium and both meals were exactly how we ordered them. In all honesty the ambiance leaves a bit to be desired...in fact it is completely devoid of ANY ambiance but no matter. Are we there to gaze at beautiful wall hangings or eat fantastic Indian food. I vote for the latter!! The staff walks around this plain brightly lit little place in sweatpants and hairnets but they are pleasant and polite and great representatives of the seemingly family owned restaurant. Prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are appropriate. If you want fancy wall art and hanging chandeliers you should probably go to NYC and find something there. Cumin N Eat has a few things going against it. The name is the groany-groaniest of dad joke quality puns. And the location? The restaurant is well hidden within a serpentine outdoor mallplex. Even if you manage to find it, the most visible signage is a neon light that says "hot coffee" -- and I'm not sure they even serve coffee. That said? Do not be dissuaded. For if you look inside you'll likely see tables filled with very happy Indian families. What they know is that this humble hideaway with its cafeteria-like interior serves some of the best Indian cuisine in the New York tri-state area. No kidding. This is a stealth kitchen. The curry sauces are delightfully complex. The rice is perfect and the breads and dosas are irresistible. Their chana masala is the best I've ever had. Decided to check this place out after a massage and what a gem. Food was great! The portions were more than enough for leftovers as well and I can eat! I also liked how they described the different cooking styles in the menu which was very informative. All I can say is wow! This is by far the best Indian food I have ever eaten in my life. I ordered the Chicken Tikka lunch special. It's basically a chipotle bowl but with Indian food full of spices, tandoori chicken, rice, peppers and unreal flavor. Lettuce is on top along with a white tangy sauce. This is definitely awesome Indian food. I'm actually still eating as I write this up but I had to post this asap to get the word out!!! read more

We love Indian food and tend to order from the same places, over and over again. However, we decided to branch out the other day and got delivery from Cumin N Eat, which was terrific! We began by sharing the Masala Dosa, which included the massive chickpea wrap and a side of its stuffing. I had always had dosas that were pre-assembled, but once I tried a spoonful of the heavenly filling of pureed potato and onion, I did not mind putting it together myself. The chunky mashed potatoes were extremely well-seasoned. For my entrée, I went with the Shrimp Kadai, which was packed with small shrimp in a creamy tomato sauce that was infused with garam masala, cumin, and other Indian spices. When ordering shrimp, one tends to worry about the portion size, but this was certainly not lacking on the shellfish. I accompanied my saucy dish with an order of Garlic Naan, which was topped with a heavy hand of ripe garlic. I also had a sample of the Onion Kulcha, which I thought needed more onion, and the Cumin Roti, which had no discernable cumin flavor. Clearly, the garlic naan had been the right choice. Our bag also included a small container of a spicy vegetable soup, though we were not sure how or why it was present. I wound up trying it the next day and thought it was a bit salty, but really delicious. The vegetables were fresh, and the addition of chili oil gave it a real kick. I was craving Indian cuisine and Indian desserts, and oh boy, I was NOT disappointed. My friend and I started out by getting the Rose Milk and Mango Lassi for drinks. That Rose Milk was so addicting and I could not stop drinking it. I got the lamb makhani (medium) and my friend got a curry chicken (medium). To us, the medium was not spicy at all, maybe we should have went for the spicy option. It was still very delicious and they provided us with a lot of sauce and rice. Later on, we got the chili garlic naan, and let me tell you, that was the most fantastic flavor combination. We dipped that in our sauces, and that was beautiful. I'm impressed with the food at this place, it's really worth visiting and adding to your rotation of regulars. Flavors are consistently good and (in my opinion) very authentic. Love that they have a lot more options than your regular Indian places so there's always something new to try, while also providing the regulars (love me some chicken Tikka masala). Point for improvement might be the decor, the place has so much potential to be a great restaurant, but at the moment just feels like a takeout or super casual sit down place. read more

This place truly has some of the better Indian food I have had. To start this place is super unassuming. You would probably never know this place existed without finding online, or through word of mouth. We elected to go with takeout, but the service all around was super nice. Food was ready in around 15 minutes, and it was still super hot 20 minutes later when we got home. We went with the lamb vindaloo, and the goat curry. The lamb vindaloo was really good. So much flavor and spices, definitely one of the best renditions of this dish I have had. Goat curry was equally good. An extremely good coconut curry sauce, with tender pieces of goat. Portions were also super generous. Overall I would call this the perfect Indian spot. Truly authentic Indian food, at a extremely affordable price tag. AMAZING food! The place is a bit hard to find since it's in a plaza and google maps takes you to a hotel instead of the parking lot so beware of that. Parking can also be kind of hectic if it's during a busy time. My husband and I came to eat here on a Saturday night, there weren't many people dining in. It seems they get a lot of takeout orders, they have an organized system for putting takeout orders on the tables for each app. You can choose from a large menu, and any dish can be served any of 5-7 ways. If you're into spice, they have it!! My spice tolerance isn't that high so I ordered mild for my dish, and we shared the cauliflower appetizer - SO GOOD. We were headed back to Manhattan after visiting the IKEA in Elizabeth and our bellies were rumbling. It was agreed that Indian food was in order, so we searched a bit and were fortunate to find Cumin N Eat on the route. Cumin N Eat is a bit tucked away in a plaza, behind atrocities like Chili's and Red Lobster. Bravely make your way through to the haven of delicacies that awaits! Though they offered indoor dining, we were the only people in there, but they seemed to be getting a lot of orders for takeout. Everyone was masked and the establishment was very, very clean. The staff members were friendly and helpful, kindly answering a few questions we had. We began with samosas and pakoras, which were very delicious. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We especially appreciated the crispiness of the pakoras. Lots of crunch! We also sampled onion kulcha and bullet naan, which is naan with lots of green chilies on top. If you can handle heat, I HIGHLY recommend the bullet naan, as it is a unique offering I haven't seen at other Indian spots. The onion kulcha was also excellent. The masala dosa was perfectly crisp, with nicely spiced potatoes. The coconut chutney was a standout, as were the other two chutneys served with the dosa. Paneer dum ka was really awesome and yet another recommended unique offering. Definitely make your way to Cumin N Eat. Their food is well prepared and delicious and the guys are really nice! This is surely an off night for this eatery. I ordered vegetable samosas and instead I received mixed polekoda - Fritters of some indeterminable veggies. And a mixed veggie korma where the butter and coconut milk separate and tastes and looks just awful. Lastly, a shrimp Marina-style , a mistake on my part, dry, over-fried oily small shrimp. I wanted wet not dry shrimp, perhaps they can make that distinction in their description of the style of cooking? Perhaps Manchurian might have been a better choice. I did not enjoy the spicing nor the greasiness of this appetizer. I really wanted a delicious meal tonight. They missed the moment spectacularly. We'd been eyeing this place for a while, but never visited until the recent holidays. We got there early on a weeknight, maybe around 6, and there was already a decent amount of tables filled - and by the time we left, it was lively. I was pleasantly surprised - this is decent Indian food for a random restaurant in a half empty strip mall in Secaucus. The portions are huge! We had a lot of leftovers. I would say that some of the dishes could use more masala and heat. For example, I probably wouldn't order a dosa from here again (the sambhar was bland), but the curry dishes and apps were good. Service wasn't anything over the top, but average for an Indian restaurant. We'll definitely be back. read more

I went here tonight with my toddler n husband. Ordered paneer dosa (12$) , samosa (6$) , and mysore masala dosa (10$) and filter coffee Paneer dosa is amazing. Picture attached. It comes with three different type of chutneys. Mysore masala dosa is also good. Samosas were great but it did have some uncooked dough/ pieces in between. Dosa is one of the best I have had in this neighborhood. They serve food in disposable containers and plates which makes it easy to carry back They do have some cute little outdoor seating. I ordered food for delivery with coworkers and was really surprised by the quality of food. We ended up getting paneer 65 which definitely had a kick but was great with the green chutney and masala dosa, and Hakka noodles as an appetizer. The Hakka noodles definitely needed the sauce that was with it to make it taste good. Then for entrees we got saag paneer, paneer dumka, and chicken tikka masala. My favorite was definitely the saag paneer which surprised me. We also got the almond halwa which i wasn't a fan of but others were and the ras malai which I did like. Stopped in for a quick lunch at this interesting spot. Believe all the people who tell you it's hard to find; it is. It's all the way in the back of the mall area, quite a walk from the parking lot. They have wraps and bowls for lunch specials, in addition to serving the regular menu. We had a chicken tikka bowl and a lamb wrap. We also enjoyed some samosas. Loved the bowl and the samosas; the wrap was fine, but would probably order something else if we came back. Fresh chutneys accompanied the bowl and samosas. Everything was tasty and freshly prepared. I had the Gobi 65 appetizer which was amazing. Crispy saucy and delicious. If I could make one comment they need ranch dressing as a sauce to dip it in. I ordered the chicken korma for dinner with garlic naan. extra crispy. Delicious in every sense. Streams of people were walking in and out of this restaurant.
