Super yummy Indian food. I highly recommend their dosas, but we have not been disappointed with any of our orders thus far. If you're unsure of what to order, the waiters have always helped us to gain clarity. Personal favorites: chicken sukka, masala dosa, onion kulcha, chana daal

Lamb Chettinadu (~$17) with basmati rice & Butter Naan (~$4)

Ordered: Chicken Makhani (~$15): served with basmati rice Lamb Chettinadu (~$17): served with basmati rice Butter Naan (~$4) Aya's take: I was feeling a bit under the weather and wanted something flavorful, soothing, and warm. Indian food immediately came to mind! Cumin N Eat's menu is a bit unique because you pick your protein and then the cooking style. It was a little confusing at first but actually is a more efficient way to order any dish you want the way you want it. The Chicken Makhani aka Butter Chicken was cooked with a mild curry sauce, the chicken was tender, and portion was great. It had a touch of sweetness but great flavors overall. The Lamb Chettinadu was my favorite of the two! The Chettinadu is a famous spice medley from Tamil Nadu, a south Indian state. It was rich, aromatic, and had many layers of spices. I also enjoyed the caramelized onions on top which balanced out the savory, tender, and gamey lamb. The Butter Naan was pretty good and the basmati rice was fluffy and aromatic. Good food and great value!

Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Drink: 4.5/5 Tasty food and fast service! I really enjoyed the samosas. Trust me, the mango Lassi is so comforting when eating some spicy food. But if you're lactose intolerant, think twice and still get it because it tastes good.

A nice restaurant to enjoy some delicious Indian food. The restaurant has nice vibes but the chairs and tables are very low quality. I liked how their menu has been setup. Each type of appetizer or entree is listed with all the ways they can make it. The style of cooking is explained on the menu as well. I really liked the chicken biryani, even though its not cooked the real biryani's way, it's more like Pulao style. The goat curry was delicious too, but I felt it was more like lamb than goat actually. Chicken tikka was nice too. Didn't like shrimp korma that much, the korma wasn't cooked the way I was expecting it. The Paneer Dosa was the best item for me. Huge dosa, served with three different types of sauces and of course paneer. Dosa was soft, crispy, easy to break into pieces. We had four people and we still couldn't finish the whole dosa, it's that big. I'll surely comeback just for the dosa. Their mango lassi is also really good. It's pre-made and stored in bottle. Not very thick and has enough sweetness. The service is good. Food is prepared pretty quickly, don't have to wait for a very long time. They are really popular for take outs as well.

Very good Indian food. I like all of the dishes that we ordered. Basically you pick a protein and pick a sauce/flavor to go with it. Very easy concept. Chicken biryani is a little spicy to me. Shrimp korma is great! Mango lasssi is very good. It's in a bottle so easy to take out of u don't finish it. They only have 1 or 2 waiters so gets a little crazy but overall food comes fast. Floor is very slippery (like wax?). Be careful.

We had been to their Allentown, PA branch and got to know they have one in Jersey too. It was 40 mins drive from Parsippany. It is located in a really nice complex. A couple of hotels (Holiday Inn, Hyatt & Marriott) and many good restaurants (Red Lobsters-Tokyo Hibachi-Chillis, etc..) are in this area near this restaurant. Okay, I am losing track here, coming to this one- it is at the back of the complex (took some time to find out this) As I mentioned I found their Allentown branch top-notch, so expectations were the same. We got the table and settled ourselves. There were a couple of servers taking care of all the tables, so service was on the slower side. We ordered like tons of items as we wanted to try most of them. Fish Apollo - We had already tried Fish Marina at Allentown (if you did not try it, go ahead, try it. Fish pieces marinated with their 'specialty' masala, deep fried in oil). Apollo is the opposite of that - Fish pieces in semi-gravy - 4/5 Paneer Apollo - not sure why my friend tried that, I wanted him to have paneer chili so that we can have one extra preparation on the table (all non-veg folks are like me only? :P ) - crunchy coated small panner cube-shaped pieces with apollo gravy- 4/5 Chicken Lollypop- they deep fried that, it should be not that fried, instead of golden brown, it was black. Still, it was good. Comes with schezwan sauce and onions - 3.5/5 Papdi chaat - (Imposter Alert!!) - you might ask why Papdi chat among all those great dishes. Seems my veg friend did not find the menu options good enough for him and 'cursed' us to bring him here. As per him "This is a non-veg restaurant" .. lol ... Dosa and all - nope not his things. hahaha (Bw Papdi chat was good, but it had no potatoes) - 3.5/5 Mutton Biryani - well, being a big-time biryani lover, I could easily rate it as 8.5-9 out of 10. If you know better biryani than these, pls pls message me on Yelp. I would like to try. Biryani lovers- let's help each other : ) Chicken Hakka Noodles - surprisingly, it was good. I had some prenotion that south Indian restaurant - will it be good? But it was more than good. Go for it...! Chicken Chilli Garlic Noodles - equally good. And hey did I mention their Madras coffee? one of the best coffee I had in recent times. -5/5. Few Pointers: Their spicy is "real spicy" not like white folk's spicy, so be careful. Portion - it's big. Like the '2 girls can eat one biryani' type. Price - $17 for biryani, amidst inflation- it's reasonable. Ambiance- Spacious, nice décor, cute painting on the wall... The only thing I did not like was -their cutlery. Melamine plates and plastic glass - I Understand, normal plates tend to break if not managed properly but we are in a dine-in restaurant, not a fast-food place. I have given the feedback on the spot. Hope they change that. The food was like 8.5/10 for me for sure, and for that, I can definitely recommend it. It could have one of the best Indian foods you can have in the area.

Badam milk Paneer Tikka Masala Butter Naan Goat Curry All good :)

    How spicy is the spicy?

Spicy!! I said 0/10 and wasn't able to eat so much because it was just that spicy. I said something to the staff and they were surprised I found it so spicy.

    Are you a BYOB restaurant?

Annapurna Bhavan doesn't need to be more popular. There always seems to be a line, even at dinner…read moreon a weekday, despite being in one of the least lovely parts of Manhattan. There is a reason for the line: Annapurna Bhavan is good. It's not amazing good, but it's better than any of the Saravanaas locations in NYC. The food here is commendably non-greasy, like what amma might make at home. And the decor, AC, and clean bathroom also make the overall experienced far more civilized than the competition. The masala dosa is crisp and light, filled with a basic, but well made aloo masala, mostly just turmeric-tinged potato and black mustard seed. No nuts, peas, dal or even alliums, I don't think. (Please double check on the alliums if you follow a Jain diet.) The accompanying sambar is thick with dal. I personally enjoy a slightly soupier consistency, with more vegetables and more tamarind -- but of course that's completely a stylistic preference. The FIL loved it. I missed the tomato chutney that often comes with dosa. (It's summer for goodness sakes! I want my tomatoes!) There was standard issue coconut chutney on the side. Sambar vada was well made, a generous portion made with the same thick sambar that comes with dosa. We also tried the bhindi masala, which was so-so. Flavors were balanced, but a good portion of the okra in the dish was burnt and rubbery, unfortunately. Not sure what happened there. Drinks: Rose milk was VERY sweet. (I wish I'd thought to ask for another glass of plain milk to dilute it.) They have a brief, but decent wine list including whatever crisp white wine the Pardner ordered (guessing it was a sauvignon blanc). I frankly don't love alcoholic beverages with Indian vegetarian food -- maybe I feel too sacrilegious -- but if you do, Annapurna Bhavan appears to have a full bar.

However, sometimes you just take a chance and pray it lives up to the hype. Having a short period of time before our show at Radio City Music Hall, two of us shared a quick bite here after a few snacks on the nearby street fair. Just one order of Chicken Tikka Marsala, Garlic Naan, and a Mango Lassi. I'm actually not a big fan of Chicken Tikka Marsala because it's often too sweet and creamy for me. Though the chicken was overcooked, I did find this version quite differernt, in a good way. It had depth, and definitely a lot of heat, even on the medium level, the spiciness was very noticeable. My dining partner would have died without that Mango Lassi, which was yummy. Lmao On the other hand, the Garlic Naan was horrible. Instead of being a pillowy soft bread with some chew, it was stiff and cardboard-ish. This is one of the worst versions I had in NYC. Not sure how this major blunder can be overlooked. Naan is such an important part of Indian food culture, I can't believe they haven't realize that they need to fix this matter. Btw, service was efficient, almost too efficient that it felt rushed. One minute after we were seated, we were asked if ready to order. Again, we were asked literally one minute later. Then, just as we were finishing our meal, and while I'm still chewing my final bite of food, the bus boy cane to take our plates away. I was technically done, but would have like to have had a minute. Finally, without asking about desserts, another server came by with our check as if to say, "Please pay and make room for the next guests." I know we wanted a quick meal, but never thought we would be in and out of a situation down restaurant in less than 30 minutes. Hahaha Anyway, I live in Queens where we have same quality Indian restaurants at a much lower price point. Portions are bigger too. For me, this is an attempt at finding a gem that everyone seems to suggest. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to return to an Indian restaurant knowing they can't properly make naan.

The entrees both use a meatball type of thing as the protein, and was not good at all. The portion of the dishes was so small. The chili dry had more of black pepper taste than anything. There was also a plastic taste in it ( im assuming they store the sauce in a plastic container ?) The sczechuan chicken had a tangy and strange flavor. The hakka noodles had absolutely no flavor but the only thing with a decent portion. Awful food, so mad we spent $75 here ( which is so not appropriate for the location and food). So disappointed.
