I placed a drive thru order and pulled over to the side to wait. After vehicles behind me were getting their orders I wondered if something was wrong. I had been waiting for over twenty minutes at this time and never waited past ten. I flagged down an employee after yet another car received their order before me. I explained to him the wait duration, my order info, and my table/vehicle number. After 5 minutes a manager came out, apologized because my order accidentally was bumped, gave me two free basket coupons and credited my order! This is SUPERIOR customer service! Everyone makes mistakes, it's how you resolve issues and acknowledge mistakes that determine if customers will come back. This experience did not deter me from coming back here. After all, it's a Culvers which has the best fast-food burgers out there! The customer excellent service is just a bonus! read more

Beware of the drive through and good luck with getting anything rectified. Husband just stopped here to grab an early dinner for the family. 1. They didn't bring our drinks. No big deal, we asked for them and they brought them. 2. We asked for 1 cheese fry, got 2. Not a big deal except we were charged for 2 3. Asked for apple sauce for the kids meals. Got home, and we got fries instead. 4. Asked for a salted caramel with cookie dough concrete got a salted caramel concrete, no cookie dough. Oh, and I was charged for one with cookie dough. When I realized how much was wrong I tried calling. Hopefully I can get a promise to make right on the concrete, right? WRONG!! I tried calling to complain and guess what, no one answered. I've been coming to this location for at least 5 years if not more. The last two times I came here they screwed up my order. I asked the kid in the drive thru if they heard me right on the speaker and he just nods yes. Spicy chicken sandwich right? Nope. They give me a regular chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries that taste really weird. I had to pull over and spit them out. Get it together guys. Update. We frequent this location often. The staff is always friendly and courteous when bringing orders out to your car. The rudest elderly lady brought the order to the car . So after Bocce, cake here for lunch or maybe even late lunch, as Culver's had also sent me a birthday gift which is a coupon for a 1 scoop sundae, which would expire 14 days from today as it was sent this morning. While of course they have a big menu, I always just have to go for their butter burgers basket includes fries and a medium drink. Which after 2 PM on a Saturday afternoon, which is not very crowded, but then again have you ever really seen a Culver's location crowed? And while of course you can drive thru, I always dine In, and even in a care if you do go thru the drive thru, is it ever a good idea to eat ice cream in a car? They're usually good but I recommend if you're ordering concrete mixers to order one at a time and pay for it before ordering another. The employees have zero idea of which is which after it's made and they could care less. I ordered one tonight with ingredients that I am NOT ALLERGIC to and won't have a reaction with as I've done in the past. I ordered this with other mixers for people in the car as well. I ended up with 3 that were correct and mine that was not. I'm now in the midst of 3 days of allergic reactions to the cookie dough that was mistakenly added to my mixer. Went through the drive through. Waited forever to get our food. At one point I had to walk inside to see if they had forgotten about us. When I got home our order was all screwed up. What we did get was disgusting. Our burgers were burnt to a crisp and our fries were so over cooked that they were hard as a rock. We had to throw everything away. I called to complain but he manager I spoke to had just gotten in and had no idea what was going on. He said he would mail me coupons to cover our meal. This is the worst Culver's ever. There's a culinary geographic feature in the middle of the country known as the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich belt. It's arguable zenith can be found in Iowa, but it stretches through central Illinois into Indiana. The pork tenderloin is pounded to within an inch of its life until it reaches the size of a dinner plate, after which it is breaded and fried. If you're not lucky enough to live in the BPT belt, you can get a respectable approximation at your local Culver's. The Culver's version is only the size of a saucer and somewhat thicker than is typical. It's tasty though - not greasy and served hot from the fryer. The butter burgers are a worth a try as well. The quality and consistency of the food here seem a half-notch above the typical McD's, Wendy's, BK, Hardee's etc. Plus at Culver's, you get the option of creamy custard instead of the pedestrian ice cream found at other fast food outlets. The counter employees here seem to be in a better mood and more friendly than those found elsewhere. Maybe this is part of the corporate culture which trickles down from Wisconsin, but it is quickly apparent. read more

I used to think Culver's was so tasty. But now I don't. I admit I only go to Culver's when I crave the custard now, and that's only if I'm not too lazy to settle for a physically closer located substitute such as Steak N Shake cold treat. To explain further, Culver's used to have high quality tasting burgers...dare I say premium. But this location's meat tastes meh and I have to force myself to finish the very burgers I once cherished. Butterburger with cheese. Alright. Bacon Deluxe. Grossing me out. The patty is bathed in stale grease and lacks proper seasoning. I am disappointed with each visit to this location. Even with good customer service, the disappointing burgers make me rethink why I return to this chain. read more

Seems to be sliding a little...new management?? I agree...they need to fix their drive-thru order/speaker system. Many times they never even put your order up on the board so you can verify it!? They need to stop...take a deep breath..and re evaluate their busness and how they look and how they can better serve the customer! It's not real hard to put a little more effort in landscaping and parking lot maintenance! Remember, this is not Mc Donalds and your order will take a little longer!! Of course butter makes it better! custard was better than Wendy's frost. I suspect the bacon butter burger will be the best. you can get single or double patty burgers. I'm not sure why I keep going here but this will be the last time. I ordered a chicken sandwich and a sundae and was told to pull up until they bring the order out. I watched five cars (I counted them while I was waiting), place their orders and receive them while I waited. These were customers in the drive through after me. I finally had to get out of the car and go to the door before someone ran out with my half melted sundae and cold chicken sandwich. I read that they were on the brink of filing chapter 11 bankruptcy. Having read some other Culver's reviews, I was hesitant to visit this location which is near work. But the sign lured me in with "Walleye is Back!" I love fish and love Walleye freshly caught. I was told by the person I convinced to go with me on this adventure that Culver's (this was my first visit to a Culver's ever) was like an upscale McDonalds. The staff were courteous and helpful. I ended up splurging on the Walleye Dinner ($10) instead of the $5 sandwich. Once I sat down, I felt like I had been transported to either northern Wisconsin or Michigan. Everyone there had that squeaky clean, freshly showered look that you seen in Wisconsin and Michigan. Also a lot of retirees and a gaggle of high school students who must have been off today. I mentioned this to my friend and as if on que, a woman stood and donned her Packers jacket as she left. The restaurant, except for the bathroom, was also squeaky clean and also had the freshly showered look. Finally the food. Two large breaded fillets of Walleye. Still hot. Freshly prepared, hot, crispy on the outiside and nicely flaky inside. Not too salty or strongly flavored, but not bland. I would say it was very good fried fish, not excellent, but very good. The cole slaw also looked and tasted very fresh and creamy. Looked home made. Fries were nice and crispy. The food was brought out to my table, but there is no tip. This is at least two levels up from McDonalds I would say and 10 dollars for a nice heaping helping of Walleye is pretty darn good. Remember, no tip (now I know why there were so many blue hairs in there :) literally, one lady's hair was almost glowing blue). I will definitely go back if I am looking for very good fish'n'chips, basically. They also have cod as a regular item. And I will also return when I get a hankering for some good fresh-washed midwestern type Michiganders or Wiscosinites to gawk at. Seriously, do they ship these people straight to Culver's? I have never seen such a concentration of these squeaky clean people who are either right out of the shower or right out of church during a weekday lunch at a restaurant outside of Wisconsin or Michigan. read more

The service has some noticeable flaws. The one that really irks me though is with drive thru. I've come here a few times and the person taking your order (different person each time) seems to rush you, once after every item I added to the order, they replied "Will that be all for you?" It got annoying hearing that 4-5 times. Their drive thru service is not very fast too when you've ordered food. I have not had any problems with the quality of food. read more

I've never been to a Culvers restaurant in my life,until a flyer came in the mail this week offering me a limited time discount,so thought I'd try it on this nice sunny day.I broke my knee cap & it's in a half cast,so prefer to go to the drive up.I've lived here all 55 years of my life,and never encountered what I went through today.I placed my order of 2 Bacon Butterburgers and a Mint Chip shake and told Gabrielle about the coupons at the drive thru at 3:20 PM.We were both very cordial. After I paid,she put a #9 tag on my door handle & told me to drive all the way up to the garbage can & wait. A young blond haired boy came out some 5 minutes later and handed me a bag with my 2 Burgers in it.He asked if I received my Mint chip shake yet,I said no,so he said he'll go check on it.As I waited,I watched 5 cars pull up behind me and receive their orders & drive past me.It was now 3:35 so I flagged down another employee who came out to give someone else their food.I asked about my shake,and they lazily said it's coming.10 minutes go by,it's 3:45PM and 6 more cars behind me are served & Gabrielle herself now comes outside to give the car behind me their food.I wave my arm @ her,she comes over and I ask can I have my Mint chip shake please? She asks,"you didn't get that yet?" and walks back inside.I watch a few more receive their orders again and drive past me..At 3:50 PM I honk my horn twice,they see me,but still nothing comes.I wait 10 more minutes & start to gather up my receipt to get ready to walk inside now,which is really difficult..But just as I open my door at 4:01 I finally seeing an entirely new person walk out to me with my shake with no emotion or sympathy.I have never been so disappointed in my life @ a drive up,and my Lunch is now my Dinner and it's ice cold.I will never go to a Culvers again. read more

Judging to the standard of the other Culver's this one is tops. Usually an pretty good flavor of the day choice, although not as exotic as Downer's Grove. What a disappointment! I order the chocolate covered strawberry ice cream and received strawberry ice cream with no chocolate. Returned the ice cream and received melted ice cream back which now had chocolate and no strawberries. Management not only did nothing to correct the situation, but called me a liar in front of other customers. There employees should be properly trained and be able to produce the right products every time. If they can not mix ice cream, what else is staff doing wrong. I have not had this problem at any other locations, just the Culvers in Darien. I will not be returning to the Culvers in Darien due to the fact of their inconsistencies in their food products, poor management, and their incredibly insulting employees.
