I ordered a vanilla shake. The first few sips were ok- but when I took the plastic top off and looked into the cup- the shake was only water and some white spots floating in the thin liquid. I know that they are under "new management" but I don't think they had a successful day. The person who rang me up, charged me the wrong price, twice! The second time, he was only off by $.50 so I just let it go. However, they did not make my order correctly. They also messed up the order of the lady in front of me. No drive-through. Just visited this Dairy Queen location last night. Let me tell you something is definitely wrong with the Asian lady that works at this location. She was rushing me as I was ordering just because there was a long line. Also, I got the chocolate extreme blizzard and she wouldn't even add chocolate syrup. She literally just dumped some chocolate chips and then put some vanilla ice cream on top. Sorry what thats not how you make a blizzard. I think she definitely needs to be retrained. Not all DQs operate equally. I'm reviewing this one because they do a really great job. Which is probably why it's always packed. The owners always seem to be present overseeing things and are super friendly. They whip their blizzards high over the rim of the cup so you get more blizzard than you would at other DQ locations. They customize sundaes just how I like them, chocolate AND peanut butter sauce with pecans and whipped cream. DELISH! And they have a ton of trendy mixin's, syrups, and blizzard combos. We'll skip the other DQs and stay loyal to our favorite just south of Hinsdale South Highschool. These owner/operators know how to represent a national brand while pleasing the community! read more

I had my first visit at this dairy queen about a week ago, I was standing in line behind a family of 3 when a worker told the gentlemen paying that he had to cover his nose with his mask. The gentleman was upset, paid, and left. I thought the staff handled it okay, there could have been less attitude and eye-rolling in front of other customers, but under the circumstances, I get it. Fast forward to yesterday. I decided to go again because my goddaughter was asking for DQ. I walk in around 9:30 pm, they close at 10 pm. I was greeted by two young girls and a young guy who had a broom/mop in hand. I ordered 4 things and the 2 girls started working on the sundae and banana split. One girl asked the guy to grab the cones. Here's the kicker.... he sets the broom aside DOESN'T wash his hands and his face mask was ONLY COVERING HIS MOUTH. Mind you, I witnessed them get upset with someone days earlier! Yet here's YOUR employee not washing his hands and nose isn't covered as it should have been? Shame on you! 5 stars for the ice cream, 1 star for the service! Visited today with 6 kids and 4 adults, and ordered something for everyone. Two strange things happened. First, the Asian lady who was working there was irritated that everyone wanted to order something slightly different. After paying I said thank you with a smile, but she didn't respond and quickly went to the back. Second, I took some photos of the kids with their ice cream in the in front of the signs, but she yelled and asked me to delete them from my phone. OK well.... I was a bit confused and overwhelmed with ALL the SIGNS!! They need a REAL menu not just pics of what they have or serve. I did not see the caramel pecan praline until AFTER i order a cone because they kind of rush you and make you nervous that you cant take your time to order. It is an OK place. I also did not like the fact that they were not willing to give you extra napkins! HELLO you are serving ICE CREAM!!!! Other than the above rant i guess it is an OK place. I grew up with soft serve ice cream the first seven years of my life. My parents owned a Tastee Freeze at Clark and Hollywood in Chicago. So, I am a REAL fan of soft serve ice cream. I have purchased ice cream from this Dairy Queen since 1987. The owners then were very friendly, talkative and it was a warm place to go and get an ice cream cone on a Saturday night or after a little league game. However, around 1990, the new owners at the Clarendon Hills location, were not friendly and very stingy.They weighed every cone on a scale.Their hand made dilly bars were ridiculously small. The wife and daughter worked mostly the counter. I actually did not want to go there after a while because they were just so sour and would never hire anyone during the busy summers so the line was ridiculous. So, then we piled all four of my kids into the minivan and traveled a little further just to go to Bill and Lill's Dairy Queen in Westmont and Downers area, where every customer was special. Bill and Lill retired and sold it to a nice Indian family that runs the one on Ogden Avenue. Then, at last! the the sour people sold their Dairy Queen to a Chinese couple and they are so very nice. The wife is very nice and accommodating. Henry is OK and all business. I go in just about twice a month and purchase the sugar free orange bars and the dilly bars. For a special occasion that requires ice cream, I sometimes order a quart of vanilla ice cream. I feel that there could be more done to accommodate people who want to stay and eat there but judging from the sign there must have been a lawsuit about the bench. Some unattended tots or kids must have done something, whatever.... The ice cream is good, the place remains orderly and clean and it is my go to place! Now, if they would only keep it open until 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights!!! P.S. Another Yelper complained about the signs. I have never been to a Dairy Queen that actually had a full menu posted. Photos and signs are every where in every store so you just have to study them and look around before ordering anything. And, if you missed something, there is always the next time!!! read more

Unfortunately this DQ has been sold to a new owner. 1) The new owner took down all the DQ posters that were inside that made it unique, 2) cut the ice cream options that were available on the menu, now the menu barely has any items on it. 3) Made the lights inside really bright, so bright you will need sunglasses at night inside this DQ. Doesn't seem like the new owner has a clue what they are doing because the owner is just driving business away. While we were eating our ice cream in the car last night w/the windows open, we heard others speaking that were sitting on the bench talking to another group and all agreed the menu was cut way too much and those people are not returning and will go to another DQ in the area. I agree w/those people. I don't think we will be returning to this DQ. The new owner of this DQ has succeeded in driving the customers away to other DQ's in the area. By the way, even the freezer area where they have cakes and Dilly bars you can purchase was empty and looked like a freezer of a DQ in Russia w/hardly anything in it. My family went here this evening for a treat for Father's Day. We are regular patrons of this location. We ordered a few items. Our 4 year old son inadvertently dropped his cup and lost half of his smoothie. My husband went to the counter and apologized for the mess. The owner had a serious attitude about the whole thing. Her employee was going to replace it for free, which is what you would think any place who had good service would do. However she made her employee charge for it, but then took the good half of the first one we paid for. Owner was extremely rude. We left and I decided to call and voice my dissatisfaction with her service and attitude. She questioned, "oh they charged you for it", which she obviously knew. Told us to come back for a refund. I go back in less than 5 minutes later and she says, I don't remember you. Gives the refund and says "you drop. I didn't drop." attitude and all. I reminded her that she took the other one and threw it away. I could take her attitude a multitude of ways, being that my family is black and all other patrons were white, not going to assume it was that but regardless, the attitude was unnecessary. Statistics on customer service are simple, if you patronize a business and get a negative experience, it takes 5 positive experiences afterwards to erase that 1 bad experience.
