DILLY VANILLY How do you 'DQ': dipped cone, blizzard, or the classic Dilly Bar? Our neighborhood Dairy Queen sits in a strip mall at the corner of Weber Rd & Hassert.  As with most, this Bolingbrook location only serves ice cream (a handful of Grill n Chill or 'Brazier' DQs offer hot food like chili cheese dogs, burgers, chicken tenders and fries).  Oberweis is nearby, though they're strictly hard-scooped ice cream and DQ's soft serve just hits different. Dipped cones ($2.89) are my wife's favorite.  Current flavors include chocolate, cherry, butterscotch, and fruity blast; I've also seen Cotton Candy and Dreamsicle in the lineup.  The thin, hard candy shell covering soft serve is an undeniably unique treat.  Pro tip: you can get something other than the default vanilla--ask for chocolate or a swirl! The Very Cherry Chip blizzard ($4.79 for a small) consists of chocolate chunks blended with maraschino cherries, and it was right up my alley.  I like when employees stick the spoon in the blizzard and hold it upside-down before handing them to you, as a way of proving that they nailed the viscosity.  It's not much of a magic trick these days, but the effort is always appreciated. Dilly Bars® ($2) are stalwarts in the world of ice cream bars, having remained largely unchanged over the decades.  You can get regular/cherry/butterscotch as well as mint chocolate and Heath Bar, in either a single serving or take-home box of six.  I was disappointed with Cherry Starkisses (6 for $16) in that they were fresh fruit popsicles and not the cherry-coated ice cream bars I mistook them to be. * TL;DR * Dairy Queen is a summer staple and it's tough to imagine the season without them. Their doors are open year-round but I anticipate our returning Memorial Day next year, once the weather warms up again and someone at the house inevitably starts screaming for ice cream (it'll probably be me). read more

I ordered a sundae and pup cup. I got the pup cup on a teeny cone. I asked them if they can put it in a cup and they told me I'd have to purchase the cup. They looked at me like I was weird because I wanted it in a cup. I guess they don't know a pup cup is for a dog. Will not be visiting here again. Ok, I have seen many negative reviews on this location, but let me tell you I have been coming here since 2009 and it is one of my favorite places during summer time. Friendly environment, great parking spots, owner is friendly, next to bicycle stand, sitting area (other locations don't have this), they make cakes. I stopped by my local DQ for the first taste for Spring 2020 flavors and was not disappointed. I like this location because there is plenty of parking and never a long wait. The space is clean and inviting. The staff friendly and attentive. And bonus the sweet treats were BOGO for .80! I decided to try the new Heath Chocolate Brownie Blizzard with Hubby opting for Strawberry Cheesecake. I definitely recommend the Heath blend if you are a chocolate & toffee fan. I will not be returning to this location and it's unfortunate because it's very close to my house. The girl that took my order was actually very nice, but the man that made my Blizzards was not. I ordered 2 Med Oreo Blizzards one with extra Oreo and I asked for 2 sundae lids after I paid because usually we don't eat them in one sitting. I heard the girl tell him that I wanted 2 sundae lids. A couple mins later she handed me the blizzards in a bag and asked is everything in the bag? She said yes. I clearly felt there were no sundae lids on the blizzards or in the bag so I asked again... The guy came around the wall and said we can't give them to you because they cost money! I told him I would pay I still want them but he was so worked up as if I was trying to get over on him he didn't even realize I said that I would pay for them. So I repeat myself. I will pay for them because I want them. Then he charged me like $1.96 or something. Not sure if they actually have that as a item to purchase on the register but whatever. As I mentioned I will never return. I have never been charged extra for a sundae lid at a DQ but this one did. It's not about me having to pay for the lids, it's the way he handled the situation. Not to mention I even donated to the charity. What is even crazier is that I pass 3 ice cream shops coming to this location and on top of that you can barely even see that this DQ is in the plaza. I am giving them 0 stars. We went on 'get a free cone if you buy any item' day and they knew that their cash register and store was not ready for mobile coupons, yet they still gave my sons cones, made me pay, and then seemed shocked when I could not find the offer in the app. Talk about a racket where I paid 5.79 for 2 cones and now I'm very happy at McDonald's paying 59 cents a cone. They got the business in the door yet they swindled the customer. Rude! read more

New ownership since May 2018 - My friends and I walked our dogs to this location. While I was inside ordering, they brought a big bowl of water outside for our dogs that were waiting with my friends. The owner stated they normally have a bowl outside on hot days. This is a very considerate, family-owned establishment. read more

Ok, so there is a new owner and she has corrected all the issues from the past owner. The place, both inside and out is now clean and the soda machine is working. My cousin just drove over to this location after calling to find out when they closing (10 pm) so we wouldn't waste our gas and time if they were closed. We arrived at 9:37 pm with signs turned off, the tables and chairs stacked inside, and the lights basically turned off as two employees rushed to leave. Outside were probably 4 folks enjoying their frosty treats that had made it into DQ before the loser employees decided that our business wasn't worth their time. Ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday. Cake was not ready when we got there and when we received the cake the writing was the wrong color-the color we requested it NOT to be. Very frustrating as the cakes aren't cheap and we were charged full price for a cake that was late and wrong. Wouldn't order again. read more

05-31-16 @19:00: My family wanted to give this ice cream shop a try; typically go to Andy's which is always a big hit. We wanted to try the new Funnel Cake A La Mode. The Old White Lady at the counter was Not nice at all. What the hell happened to "Service with a smile!?" Courtesy? Her answers were short, loud and abrupt. Her answers were, "we don't have it." When asked if she knew which store may have it, her response was "I don't know." The store was not busy at all, but were made to feel hurried. Absolutely Nothing about her was pleasant. Shameful!! This is why Bolingbrook residents go to Naperville. WTF!
