Menu is excessive without concentrating on the basics. You can't run until you learn to walk...and this place has a menu that crawls...and overpriced! Service was terrible! I was seated at the bar and it took at least 20 minutes before bartender took my order...and at that point I told her "Adios!" I've been coming here for almost 4 years now....the food is nothing but OUTSTANDING and the staff is excellent everytime!!!! My son is even obsessed with their food! Each time I visit Crete's Backyard we are greeted as soon as we walk in the door. Another plus, they have BINGO every Sunday which is always a great time (and it gets packed in there)! I have also catered food for a few of my parties... prices were great, the amount of food was perfect and it was always ready on time. I would suggest for anyone with a bad review either give them another shot or at least express your concern with one of the owners. Will be back there again!!!!!! read more

UPDATE #2 So the owner reached out very quickly after my last review. She apologized for the problems and offered us a gift card. I simply said "ok" in response, but never heard anything after that. The next day I sent a message asking how we would get the gift card offered and indicated that since the business was offering I really shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get it. That was many days ago and never received a response. So I guess the offer is to get you to change the review but they don't plan to act on it. This used to be one of our favorite places. The staff is wonderful. But the ownership is going to cause it to tank. read more

Their whole menu looks good. It was my first visit since the name change. I ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger. I'm picky about burgers but this was one was cooked perfectly. The remodel of this business is nice. Now it is nicely lit and much more spacious with a much nicer atmosphere overall. The bartender/waitress was very nice, gave good service and the $.99 wings on Sunday are good. However the prices on the menu are a little high for what you are getting. In my opinion if I am paying $8.00-$10.00 + for a burger or sandwich at a bar I would expect to get a side with the sandwich, even if it's just fries or homemade chips. We had a party of 3. Each of us ordered the $.99 wings which can only be ordered in increments of 6 or 12. There was no side with the wings so one of us had fries ($2.25), one a side salad ($4.00) and one cup of soup ($4.00). Now if I am ordering a side of fries and paying $2.25, I would expect a basket of fries. There were probably less fries in this side than you would get with a large order of fries at McDonalds. The menu clearly states you could add soup, salad or fries to any sandwich for $2.25, yet the soup and salad were each $4.00 with our wings. We did not have any mixed drinks but a short ipa on tap was $5.00. So like I said great remodel, but if I am writing a Yelp review talking more about the price of the food instead of how tasty the wings were, something is wrong. read more

This is a local place, a place to go to watch a game, especially a black hawk game. I was brought here by a friend and it's his bar, 5 miles from his house, but this is a fairly rural part of Illinois, an hour outside of Chicago. Crete itself is a small, one or two traffic light town, and Jason's Pub is one of a couple of places in the downtown square. It's in a older non-descripted building, with a long bar area, and an adjoining restaurant space. It is more of a bar than a restaurant. The wait staff is also the bartender, at least when we were there. Everyone in the place was friendly. The food is bar food, finger food, burgers, sandwiches and a limit number of entrees. The soup was good and hearty. The turkey Reuben was fine. Everyone liked their food. Ultimately, this is a small neighborhood bar that is welcoming to all, with friendly people. read more

Went for Friday fish fry. Generous portions and the food was really good. They have a complete menu; sandwiches, salads, entrees etc. also open on weekends for breakfast. Newly remodeled. The restaurant is divided into 2 spaces with separate entrances. half is a bar and other half is the restaurant. Not sure why Yelp only lists this place under bars and not as a restaurant. Second time coming, no review for first time,just a good dinner..always wait for atleast twice before review UNLESS it was poor..so Sunday breakfast, walked in..after almost 5 min only other customers in there had to actually get the waitress from in back to have her say she didn't hear us come in(music from back was a bit loud) so got coffee, quick order and she was gone( didn't write order done and this important later),..while waiting for food needed coffee and again no waitress, this time u can clearly having IMPORTANT discussion on how IHOP does something different, just as I was actually starting to stand in frustration to get my own coffee she came out with only other customers food and I asked for more coffee...out comes our food and asked if we needed anything else and we asked for ketchup, AGAIN food was good,NO COMPLAINTS, fresh vegetables in my DENVER OMELET and tasted as such,but after eating almost half and not happy with service I asked other customers table for their ketchup since as the pattern was waitress in kitchen AGAIN(loudly laughing and joking)and not caring of her customers,almost done and waitress brings chk to other table to which 1 man at table says " what happened to my biscuits and gravy " to which she replied oh sry,that's on me,and classic old man response (straight and honest) that's y u should write it down..she laughed it off and left table as we hear men debating what exact tip should be and it wasn't sounding good..our bill comes,NO COMPLAINTS FAIR PRICE,but there was no discussion about my tip as wife already knew(BTW,she has been a waitress herself for MANY years and understands service equaling happy customer and nice tip)..we left not leaving a tip because the service was EXTREMELY POOR. At night the bar gets really crowded. The staff and patrons are friendly. There seems to be a circle of townies that hog the gambling machines though. Surprising! Just looking for a cheap family dinner with one picky kid, one bottomless pit kid, & a mom trying for kind of healthy. Picked at random. Small and plain looking diner atmosphere but really solid food. Fresh homemade flavors and good prices. We had wings, pulled pork sandwich, chicken strips (they were home made!) and a Cobb salad. Only 2 waitresses on duty... took 15 minutes for the server to take out order.. another 20! minutes for quesadillas..which should only take 6 or 7 minutes!! Had to ask for a manager who finally brought them out to us.. said our order came in behind a 12 top table in the bar.. Really??! I didn't see any table in the bar!! Waitress says they have a hard time making quesadillas.... REALLY??! I have been eating at Jason's Pub for years now. I mostly get carry out, but we have eaten in from time to time. Jason's Pub is reasonably priced. I have never had any complaints about the food, & they always remember the condiments. This is actually very rare, as most restaurants screw up the condiments on a regular basis. We have been there before & when Diane waited on us we were very satisfied. The last time though, our server was texting behind the bar. We had a group of 10 people & she brought out 4 orders & not the rest till 10 min later. We had to request set-ups so we could eat. We also had to go to the bar twice to get our own drinks. I was seated directly across from her facing the bar & could not get her attention to bring our check (she was talking to someone seated at the bar). When they first started out it was good. Now no way. Two weeks ago my husband and went with friends and four burgers took forever (too long for MR) and they were well done. Last night my spouse and I went again (second chance) we order a burger and I ordered Chicken Marsala. 45 minutes later my Marsala came out and the chicken breasts were still raw. Very disappointed by this new edition to Crete. My wife and I thought we'd try this place out. My first bad sign was upon getting the iced tea I ordered, the spoon given to me was clearly unwashed. I let it slide as was given a straw that I used to stir in sugar. I continued to order their combo basket appetizer which consisted of wings, cheese stix and o-rings and for $1 extra celery & Blu cheese. Disappointment #2 was that the wings were clearly undercooked. They were pink with red (blood). Still, I didn't make a fuss. The last straw was when my veggie melt sandwich was brought out. I preceded to take a bite out as I noticed a long piece of hair melted in the cheese. This I brought to the server's attention. She went on to tell me that the cook was bald and she didn't know where it came from. I really wanted to like this place but it wasn't meant to be. Naturally I didn't accept the sandwich. The bar is pretty much derived of vietnam vets (not that there is anything wrong with that.) It has a very busy lunch period where the service is a little slow. Jim (the owner) is an amazing man who goes out of his way to make you as comfortable as possible during your stay. The drink prices are great and it has a free pour bar. The soup is amazing but anything with chicken usually runs very dry (EXCLUDING THEIR BUFFALO WINGS!) Those are amazing. read more
