Today was my first time here, but I'm not impressed. Admittedly the shake and root beer was great. But the fish, which was the main reason of coming here, was awful. They overcook/fried my boyfriend and I's fish and I had a really hard time chewing it. I had to get lemon and smother it with ketchup in order not being able to taste the burntness. I've worked fast food and I have an inkling that the fryer oil needs to be changed. The whole place is disgusting look at the booth we had to sit in (in pictures) . There was one young blond work that was very helpful with the service. But everyone else just ignored me for five minutes when I asked for lemon. Like I get it, there's a billion things that have to get done on a weekend work day, but customer service shouldn't be ignored. I probably won't come back. read more

Went to Culver's for dinner with my family. Normally we go through the drive thru and today we ate in the dining area. It was easy to place our food order at the counter and the food was brought out to our table when prepared. The dining area was clean and was busy on a Friday night. I ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger with a pretzel bun. The burger is made with fresh, never frozen beef, seared on a grill topped with white button mushrooms sautéed in butter, salt, pepper, parsley and a touch of garlic. Then topped with real Wisconsin Swiss cheese and serve on a lightly buttered, toasted bun. My meat and bead might have been a bit overcooked because it was tough. I created a value basket by adding cheese curds with marinara sauce and a soft drink. The cheese curds were made using the freshest, un-aged yellow and white Wisconsin cheddar cheese, deep-fried golden brown for a warm buttery crunch. Finished the meal with a one scoop turtle sundae. Prepared with roasted Southern pecans plus hot fudge and savory caramel drizzled over vanilla frozen custard, topped with a maraschino cherry. Overall a filling and enjoyable meal from a fast food establishment. read more

I'm giving Culver's a five star review, but that's a fast food five star review, with the limitations it implies. A place like Five Guys is a fast food joint with restaurant prices--Culver's is more like a restaurant with fast food prices and vibe, not really a diner. In the fast food burger competition Austin is fortunate to have most of the contenders within the city: In-N-Out, Shake Shack, Five Guys, and Whataburger and even P.Terry's (an Austin local). I draw the line at McDonald's--Ray Kroc's ghost still haunts the place that put all the good mom-and-pop burger stands out of business, even the original McDonald's in California! Culver's 'double deluxe' is a smash burger dressed in the usual way, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. After much debate internal, and a lifetime of burgerology--my first solid food was a burger at Goff's in Dallas--I would give the prize to Culver's. Anthony Bourdain favored In-N-Out FWIW, but I think Culver's is better. Apart from the quality of their burger Culver's also has the best fish sandwich among fast food places: not just the usual chumburger with cheese, but fried cod. If you tell Culver's to hold the cheese and tartar sauce and add mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, you could almost make it a fast food po-boy. I know it's unbelievable, but it's lightyears beyond the usual plywood-like fish sandwich, which is the industry standard. While we're here Culver's has a much more extensive menu than any other fast food joint, and serves some nice frozen custard, although I'm not into sweets. Old skool place to get your midwest frozen custard fix on and cheese curds. Came here on a HOT June afternoon for a chocolate frozen cone and a snack of fried cheese curds. Friendly and efficient service. We also had to try the burger once we saw them arrive at other tables. This place was busy for a Sunday afternoon. You can go though the drive through (all burgers are made to order) You can get it to go or eat inside the restaurant (reminds me of a Dennys inside). A regular told us the kids meal is the best deal. Same size burger as the regular, you can get the cheese curds and add on a small custard for 6ish dollars. I think it may even come with a drink? We decided to a la carte it. 6/10 for the burger. Its not greasy, tastes "close to" sort of an In-N-out (that is still our fav burger) hands down. 7/10 fried cheese curds. White and Orange/Yellow cheese served piping hot 8/10 single chocolate custard. Creamy and dreamy. It was a double scoop size if you compare it to other ice cream places. I placed an order through DoorDash and it took them an hour supposedly to prepare my order. I called and asked to speak to the manager and the person said can I help you? I asked if she was the manager and she said yes. I explained my situation and did not receive a response - just dead air. I then said hello are you there? and was finally told that the order had been picked up. No apologies, no professionalism, just plain lack of customer service and rudeness. And this is the manager? I've had a mixed bag of experiences with this Culver's over the years, but I keep coming back because the custard is just that good! For a Celiac, or anyone who prefers to eat gluten free, they do offer a gluten free bun you can purchase for ~$1.20 extra (+tax). Now for the good, the bad, and the ugly... They offer a gluten free bun, making them 1 of 2 fast food chains I know of that have this option. Yay!! The burger patties are smashed and a bit thin, and I do think they've lost some of their flavor over the years I've been coming here. So while it's a decent burger patty, the quality isn't quite as high as I'd like it to be for the price. I ordered the ButterBurger Cheese and added lettuce, pickle, and mustard with a gluten free bun. The bun does come warmed and separately wrapped, but as with any gluten free bread, it is soooo crumbly! I almost think you could use it to make the burger equivalent of a taco bowl, so if you planned on eating it on the go, think again! I will say that the bun didn't have a lot of flavor, so I almost think I'll just order without any bun next time. In addition to the bun being incredibly messy, I have never had a burger that came with so much shredded lettuce before in my life! I mean, I love lettuce (and this definitely further enforces my burger bowl idea), but it definitely added to the mess when eating. So yum(!) but not suitable for trying to eat on the go. This location has plenty of parking and the drive through seems to go relatively fast every time I come, but I do wish their menu was just a bit more organized. It's hard to find all the different burger options and I'm not even sure it mentioned a gluten free bun on the menu. I also wasn't told what the up-charge would be, but I know better to expect a free specialty bun at a fast food restaurant where adding onion or tomato costs $0.40. That said, I do think employees should mention it just to provide an added layer of transparency. While I didn't order custard this time, because I'd just come from Pie Bar, the custard is absolutely a must-try. I almost always get a vanilla base with hot fudge and fresh raspberries, but they have a great selection of customizations and you can make a sundae, blizzard-equivalent, or a milkshake. They're all 10/10 and I love that they feature a monthly recommendation that's seasonally themed. And if you're not gluten free or dairy free....try the cheese curds!! My biggest regrets in being gluten free are usually the lack of sweets and pastries I can eat, but I'd eat those cheese curds every day if I could. They're so good!! I usually opt for the drive through, but on the few occasions I've been inside, this is a clean interior with plenty of seating options. Culver's also offers a rewards program for birthdays, which I highly recommend signing up for. We came to Culver's on the recommendation of my niece's partner. He recommended the butter burgers, but we already had lunch so we came for the custard. I got the fruit sundae while the kids got chocolate waffle cones and my nephew got a shake. Culver's is the Midwestern fast food gem that appeals to both of your savory and sweet taste buds. While digging into their signature Butter Burgers and melt-in-your-mouth custards are definitely delicious choices, it's safe to say that they aren't the most nutritious choices. The food at this location is absolutely some of the freshest available and reminiscent of food prepared on a barbecue grill. I came in with my son and ordered a few items. I had the Culver's signature ButterBurger. This burger includes fresh beef patties, fresh onions and condiments served on a lightly buttered bun with Wisconsin cheddar on top. I also ordered a side of cheese curds. The cheese curds served here are not true cheese curds or as I refer to them as squeaky cheese but I suppose that's okay for the people who do not know the difference. The service and dining room space here is adequate. The dining room area was clear of any debris. For my most recent visit, I placed a curbside order online. I arrived, parked in the designated space, let the restaurant know that I was there, and waited. And waited. And waited. After half an hour sitting in my car, I went through the long drive through line and asked where my food was. Apparently it had been sitting on the counter for half an hour and not brought out to me. I was offered cold food, a melted lemon ice, and no apologies. The manager the cashier called over was rude and unhelpful. Great food, very helpful and friendly staff, horrible stingy owners that do NOT care about their employees. If you're wondering why especially custard serving size has decreased - yeah that's the owner's decision, not corporate. Disgusting micromanagement every step of the way, including being really weird about bathroom breaks. Some employees are FORCED to use a terminal to log their bathroom breaks so that the owners can actively track it. Training is also a foreign concept to the owners; they will show recorded footage of you and make you guess what's not to their liking instead of educating you or the team. What would be treated as a learning opportunity in other places is instead used as an excuse to penalize employees. This is not managers' fault, although they're not really doing anything to change the dynamic either so make your own conclusions here. Giving 4 stars because it is a fast food restaurant. I usually eat in as opposed to drive through. Tonight I got a cheeseburger, crinkle cut fries, and an ice cream "concrete mixer". I love dipping the fries in the ice cream. The hamburger patty is pretty thin. The ice cream flavor I got today with vanilla and chocolate swirl with snickers "blended in" but it was mostly just a topping. Honestly, I didn't love the snickers in there despite liking snickers candy bars. If you're going to dip your fries in the soft serve, I'd recommend swirl or chocolate without toppings. read more

At 12:01 pm, first visiting to have a quick brunch before heading to San Antonio trip with bae. Had my car next door, "Kwik Kar autocenter" for engine oil refill, it is nice to spend some time meanwhile waiting for my car gets ready. I ordered a bucket of their chicken tenders and my bae ordered a cheese burger (forgot the name), an add of fries. All for 15.03 as a total. This is pretty good. My tender came as spicy chicken tenders with a ranch sauce, it was juicy hot. I probably visit here more if I have to get my car checked up at Kwik Kar.
