However, the fruit and vegetable selection is frequently a huge frustration. Everyday fresh items are in poor condition or have run out. And sadly, the prices do not reflect the quality. I might accept a lettuce that I'll have to throw the outer leaves away, if the price was reduced. That doesn't happen. Sometimes I stare at the produce area and just want to weep. I've spoken to the manager who basically shrugs and says he has no control over what they send him. I'm not sure I believe that, but I'm tired of speaking to him. This situation is turning Clatskanie into something of a food desert for people who don't want to travel out of town once or twice a week just for produce.

I appreciate having an occasional glass of wine, and expect that it's difficult to find a quality wine selection in a small town that probably depends very heavily upon the tourist trade. Frankly, most towns known for heavy tourist traffic usually don't do well when it comes to what they stock in wines -- they usually aren't that impressive. I was truly shocked to see an excellent selection of highly-rated wines, especially for domestic Cabernet Sauvignon. If you enjoy having an excellent wine, this is the place to find it.

I loved the peanut sesame dressing and noodles in this salad but wished there was more chicken. Mayak Egg Noodle Bowl, $8.99- My husband picked this salad for himself but I didn't have any. He thought it was good and appreciated something fresh, as his bowl had shredded cabbage, like my salad, and cucumbers and shredded carrots. Pumpkin Pie, $6.99- My husband saw this small pumpkin pie and decided to get it because he is such a big fan of it. I actually don't like pumpkin as much as when I was much younger. Then after I mixed it, I just put it back in the plastic container and only left about 1/3 of the salad in my bowl to eat. If I lived in this area, I would definitely be a regularly of this market (specifically for the prepared food area).
