Atmosphere - Above average. Plenty of parking. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 11pm. Departments - Bakery, produce, meat, seafood and of course beer/wine. Other services - Propane, redbox, rug doctor, western union. Service - Good. Price - Local beer is more expensive than Fred Meyer, so I will wait until my next stop; plus I still have a few 4packs left from my Costco beer run. However, the fruit and vegetable selection is frequently a huge frustration. Everyday fresh items are in poor condition or have run out. And sadly, the prices do not reflect the quality. I might accept a lettuce that I'll have to throw the outer leaves away, if the price was reduced. That doesn't happen. Sometimes I stare at the produce area and just want to weep. I've spoken to the manager who basically shrugs and says he has no control over what they send him. I'm not sure I believe that, but I'm tired of speaking to him. This situation is turning Clatskanie into something of a food desert for people who don't want to travel out of town once or twice a week just for produce.

I appreciate having an occasional glass of wine, and expect that it's difficult to find a quality wine selection in a small town that probably depends very heavily upon the tourist trade. Frankly, most towns known for heavy tourist traffic usually don't do well when it comes to what they stock in wines -- they usually aren't that impressive. I was truly shocked to see an excellent selection of highly-rated wines, especially for domestic Cabernet Sauvignon. If you enjoy having an excellent wine, this is the place to find it.

The young lady assisting me handed the bags and I noticed that I only received 1/2 pound of Jojos and the chicken was marked $19.99 for 1 pound 5 ounces of Chicken! I got the pricing and spud order corrected (or so I thought) and went home to discover I had only received 6 pieces of chicken! 1 breast, 1 back, 2 scrawny wings and 2 drumsticks! The staff not only couldn't count, she did not know how to identify the pieces as I received a meatless back instead of a breast! I was very disappointed in the lack of meat in this purchase as the back and 2 wings were just breading. Poor food quality from this deli counter and zero training for a new employee! This is a warning that you should check your purchase and pricing before leaving the store! Consider me extremely disappointed in Safeway and wish I had better grocery options for shopping!

My mom and dad shop here weekly. After a trip we noticed a 10$ item that we did not purchase…read more Even counted out all items purchased and double checked at home and only had 17 items total. The random 10$ item not puchased but paid, was 18 items total. We went back next day. And was told they did not know what the item was either. Then said they could not give money back because there was no way to prove if we walked off with it. I replied because we are honest people who would not lie and are regular customers. I have been in customer service for over 20 years and have delt with very similar situations. The refusal of none payback on an unknown item for only 10$ should not be a problem for assitant Manager to refund. Expecaily coming from a local honest senior citizens with her daughter who are weekly regulars. I said on the way out we are never coming here again. And it was extremly disrespectful to not apologize or even offer to look further into this. I Recommend everyone to make sure they check their receipts before walking away. Because later they will take zero responsibility of essentially stealling from thier own cutomers.
