I had a craving for fried chicken and Safeway is the only source in Seaside since KFC closed. I went to the deli counter at 5:15 on a Monday night and ordered an 8 piece mixed for $9.99 and a pound of Jojos. I waited10 minutes to get the Jojos as they were still cooking. The young lady assisting me handed the bags and I noticed that I only received 1/2 pound of Jojos and the chicken was marked $19.99 for 1 pound 5 ounces of Chicken! I got the pricing and spud order corrected (or so I thought) and went home to discover I had only received 6 pieces of chicken! 1 breast, 1 back, 2 scrawny wings and 2 drumsticks! The staff not only couldn't count, she did not know how to identify the pieces as I received a meatless back instead of a breast! I was very disappointed in the lack of meat in this purchase as the back and 2 wings were just breading. Poor food quality from this deli counter and zero training for a new employee! This is a warning that you should check your purchase and pricing before leaving the store! Wednesday July 9, 2025 around 6pm I wanted to get a birthday cake so I asked the female assistant in the bread section for help. I just wanted the cake box up; I didn't even need words written on it. She made an announcement for help. There were 3 workers including that female assistant in the bread section. They helped everyone else (all the Caucasian people) except me (non-Caucasian). I stood waiting for 15 minutes. They kept themselves busy when they are not helping others. The female assistant would glance over at me from time to time. I finally realized that she is being a racist so I walked away. When I walked away, she looked at me with a big conniving smile. It's weird bc my brother-in-law is Caucasian; he's super nice and I was trying to get a cake for him. I am a working professional. I will always help everyone (even her if I ever see her again one day) regardless of status, race, whatever. I hope Safeway works on treating non-Caucasians better. read more

Bro get your shit together Safeway! You guys lie on sales all the time and cashiers ring up wrong items all the time. Last night we grabbed some of the turkey on sale in the deli. The self checkout wouldnt take off the sale price. It's 5 bucks a pound. The system was charging us 9.74 . I asked the employee to help remove it cuz I just won't buy it if they aren't going to honor the 5 dollar Friday deal. It was a little past 7pm lol so I'm like WTF is going on ... do the sales stop working after a certain time lmfao no way. the employee acted as if we were lying ... rolled his eyes at my husband. White hair old guy with black glasses. Also, He always rings up my produce wrong when we get him at a register too. I have noticed. Guy charged me for baby zucchini three times last month ! Which is effing 7.91 dollars for 2!!! It should I have been 1.40 for two normal ones. He always charges me the baby organic ones. And I have noticed!!!! So I won't go to him anymore. I'm gonna have to start doing that crap where you go to customer service after snd demand refunds. As someone who works in a grocery environment this is embarrassing and not something I do. It was supposed to total to about 3.90. I gave up at thar point. I'll just tell Steve and Janice and Christy in the deli when I see them that something in their system messed up and the cashiers gave me and my husband a hard time, and they wouldn't honor the Friday sale price. Spent about $334 here yesterday and needed to grab a few more items including some cold and flu tablets for a sick person staying with us on vacation . Used the self checkout and an employee walked up and asked for ID before I could complete the purchase. I don't like carrying a bulky wallet so just brought my credit card and Safeway club card. I asked the guy what the age restriction was for purchasing said item. It was 21 and I am 71. Still, I had to walk out to my car and retrieve my wallet. I told him quite bluntly that their policy was stupid. His response was to blame the OLCC. It is this kind of customer "non-service " that is going to be the downfall of Safeway. Imagine if a group of 60+ friends went to a restaurant and the waiter insisted they produce ID before they could get a beer? Most likely, that group would walk out and find another place to eat. But no problem for Safeway to pull this crap. I've read other reviews of this Safeway where complaints are made about sketchy people are hanging around the store at night and nothing is done to make customers feel safe. But by all means, make things difficult for the 71 year old guy buying cold and flu tablets. read more

Shopped here before heading to our condo , store was clean , well organized and employees were friendly , prices however are way higher charging 2 x higher prices compared to other stores. they also have a cop in the store standing around watching everyone probably due to theft in the past. read more

This is a basic Safeway...and I am happy to have this option while I'm staying at the coast. It's a bit of a drive from Cannon Beach, but worth it when we are staying for several days or a week. There are great specialty markets closer, but when you need to stock up on basics, I can't see paying those jacked up prices. Safeway has everything one would expect at a larger chain grocery store. Since I live in Portland, I'm familiar with the brand and their selection. We shop here for breakfast and lunch supplies, snacks, bottled water, adult beverages, paper goods and cleaning supplies. During Covid, I was surprised to see so many customers ignoring the Covid rules, like wearing a mask. It's hard for stores to reinforce this and I wish my fellow humans would be more considerate. Store is clean. Staff is helpful. Checkout lines move quickly. All good. read more

We have a house in Rockaway but we're going to the Nike and Pendleton outlets on Saturday and knew this Friday and realized the laundry soap was almost out. So I placed an online order to pick up when we were nearby. We got two huge things of laundry soap for under $10 each thanks to the app and savings. We had to meet a minimum so we added some deodorant too since my husband left his at home Absolutely love the order and pick up option where they bring it to your vehicle. Great for just passing through and I get dizzy in stores due to the lights, mask and my brain injury and asthma so this is amazing to be able to do from my phone and since I have a disability that makes shopping in store difficult. I like that you can mark no substitutions if you don't want any substitutes. Service was great and she was excellent even knew how to close our hatchback. read more

Staying in Cannon Beach, the prices are very much Cannon Beach fancy prices. We found ourselves in Seaside just checking it out one afternoon and popped in to Safeway for some snacks at a lower cost. As we walked through the produce aisle to grab our bananas and cucumbers to snack on (which was well-stocked and clean), a produce worker chased me and my kids down to offer them a free banana as we shopped. What a kind gesture! We grabbed our items and checked out like we were home at our local Safeway and didn't have to pay the premium costs. 10 minute drive to our rental in Cannon and easily 30-40% cheaper than their grocery story for snacks and produce. read more

Needed groceries while in Seaside and was happy to see the store nearby. Honestly, if you want to walk from downtown Seaside, it's pretty easy to do. The employees were all wearing masks. I only saw 2 customers without masks. One was actually buying one from customer service so that was nice to see. Meanwhile, not sure why the other person was walking around the store without a mask. He went through the register and no employees commented. I didn't see the cashiers wiping down the register. Do they no longer do this. It has been a while since I've been to the actual store (pick up is my way, these days). The store was clean and groceries were stocked. That's what I like. They had my favorite salsa (Renfro's) so that was a plus. Next time I am in town I will visit this location again. BTW, if you see digital coupons and don't have the app, ask for a paper. This part of the town is disgusting in general but oh my God those homeless people in the bottle room are disgusting as hell where everybody feels either threatened or very grossed out. The bottom room is very gross on the floor and the machines are always broken. Even as a past coworker, I have felt unsafe before with not only The homeless people, but the management has not had any security when it comes to people stealing bottles cans and anything else that where people want just a little bit of extra cash in their wallet. I know it's a part of retail but I'm honestly disappointed that a few of us had to leave this business due to management and to respect around the store. I wen to the Safeway at 401 S Roosevelt Dr. Seaside OR. I bought a bagel from the bakery case at 7:40 am, a few minutes later I bought an extra hot latte. When I took a bite of the bagel (in the parking lot) it was so hard, I had to wrench it to tear it apart. I assumed the inside would be soft - no, it was as hard as the outside. The extra hot Starbucks latte was at best lukewarm. I had to dunk the bagel in the latte to soften it. read more

Giving credit for 13 years of excellent service--since I retired on this Coast. To name only 3 employees: Cary helped me greatly and with a good sense of humor on several occasions. And also during my last visit to the store, Christine from the Deli took me all the way to the specific aisle and item I needed. I like to give a small token of appreciation to my best friend when she takes me along on her grocery trips- --I am 75 and although in good health, I cannot drive because of a quirky eyesight. Though my retiree budget doesn't allow for a generous bouquet, I generally like to get one rose with some baby's breath from the flower station. Tammy does always a great job and on that last trip the dark pink rose with the matching ribbon delighted both my friend and me! So thanks to these 3 employees and the many of those who have helped me over the years. It has been almost 2 years since that pesky pandemic started and I no more take for granted all the services provided by those on the front line in various jobs, taking risks to help crowds of customers. TYLER IS THE BEST CASHIER EVER! He was so funny and entertained my little sister during our checkout process. He was so sweet we bought him a coffee. The variety at this safeway in a town of 7,000 was better than both of the safeway's in our city of 60,000. It was real cheap with so many deals that brought our projected total from $200 to $120. The Good? They make the best bagels in town. The Bad? Too expensive! I can't afford their inflated prices! I live close enough to walk but drive to Walmart instead. Plus they like to play games with their sales. "Must buy 5" BS or "3 for $9.99" hoping you can't do the math. Their prices are crazy high. If I could give this review less than 1 start I would! I will never go to this location, when i come to vacation in seaside, I would rather drive 30 minutes out of the way to go to feed meyer. The customer secice clerk that "assisted" me was the WORST, I'm going to keep the expletives out of this review, person to deal with. Their machines that are supposed to scan your digital club card in the app were not working, so instead of honoring the 10 off 50 or more, she said nope we cant do that! There's no way to know if you'll use it more than once. In response to that I said well I spent more than 50 and its tour machines that aren't working and she had the audacity to day sorry no, do you have any other solutions. At that point is said yeah I'm not going to support your store and she said we will be happy to put it back for you, she's lucky that my son was there otherwise I'd have had a few more choice words with her. Picked up 6 lobster tails for a BBQ today, at Seaside location. After driving 30 minutes to our rented home we discovered one tail was badly spoiled. Called the store, They insisted we bring the bad piece back to the store. (( l do understand the potential fraud) however we have a sleeping baby and the BBQ is all warmed up and other food started.) But now we start to remember the other pricing scam, which we did ask the cashier about but because we are not members the posted price does not apply for new visiting customers??? SCAM??? Posted price indicated 4 for x, but because we do not belong we are outcasts? Paid about 7 dollars more for the entire purchase and now a bad $6 lobster tail? (( good price unless everything else is over priced and over 15% of the lobster are bad) Do the quick math, $13.00 total extra paid. My Darling Husband and myself were able to Locate an Isaac Mizrahi Designer Regular and 3 Times Magnifier Mirror for my Handbag. I like to know when my Lipstick requires a Touch Up... and It's a Nice Pinkish Orange ish hue. We also found Everything Else on Our list without having to go all Over the Store. Although, I wear an Odometer/ Pedometer ... and frequently I take Over 7,000 Steps. I like to Hike. The Checker at the Register was Dressed Up as it was a Holiday. We did NOT play the Lottery on this Day... but, you Won't Win if you Don't Play. My Husband says you Won't Win if you do play... he's being Humorous. Super crowded, understaffed and it just has this grimy vibe to it, like it hasn't been cleaned in a very long time. There is not enough room and everything is smashed together. When the lines are long people immediately flood into the tiny aisles because there is not enough space between cash registers and the aisles. The price for groceries here is also too expensive, even for a "resort" town. Once or twice a month I get coupons I can use but overall I stay far away from this store. read more

This may seem cruel, but I have the fondest memory ever of this Safeway. A few years back, I was waiting in the car while my mom ran in to grab something (who knows what). I see this girl, probably about 9 or 10 years old, exit the store, looking quite suspicious. About 20 seconds later, out exits a security guard. Hmmm... that's odd. What's goin on?? He points his finger at the girl, she puts her hands in her pockets and pulls out a candy bar. Apparently she wanted to give a shot to getting the 5 finger discount. What comes next? Wait for it... She pees her pants. I had never seen that before. If that doesn't scare her to never do it again, I don't know what will. Kudos for the security man for setting the example, and probably saving her from a life of crime and/or punishment. read more
