I went for the wood fired pizza, but was not impressed. It was okay, but for the price I wanted better.

I don't know where to begin with this place. The family who owns and run the place make everyone feel like family. The tasting room is quaint and they have a record player in the back you can play records on. The pizza is my absolute favorite I've ever had. We enjoy making wine tasting trips around the PNW and no matter how many wines I try, Roland is the wine club I would choose to join every time, the wine is *chefs kiss*. read more

It really pains me to write this because the owners are such legitimately nice people, but being nice doesn't make up for the complete ineptitude of the staff. Roland Wines holds the distinction of being the ONLY establishment to not bring me the food I ordered, TWICE in a row, several months apart. The last time this happened, I was seated indoors, and I watched two full tables who arrived well after I did get fully served. After literally an hour and a half, I asked the waitress how long it takes to get a pizza out, and she said, "Yours is next, we've just been really busy". She then went to the pizza chef who started making my pizza right away. The kitchen had been idle for at least 15 minutes when I asked, so clearly they somehow lost my order. If the waitress had admitted that, apologized, offered to comp it or at least discount it, I'd have been far more appreciative, and would have come back sooner. Fast forward to my most recent visit. I ordered 20 minutes before the band was set to start, and I told the person who took my order that I was sitting outside by the band at the same table Marc Roland (the owner) was sitting. Just like last time, an hour and a half later, I still didn't have my food. Being an engineer, I now had a second datum point, and opted to wait to see if my food would suddenly arrive. A full two hours and 20 minutes later, after the band had finished, I still didn't have my order. I was issued a refund when I asked for it, and the person who gave me my refund apologized, but this was the last nail in the coffin. I'm NEVER going back to Roland Wines, regardless of what band is playing. I recommend that nobody else goes, either, unless your a longtime family friend of the Rolands or are a family member (they seem to take care of their own). read more

02/05/2022 - Had to change it from 5 to 3 stars. Wine is great, service is great. But if you show up on a busy night please Beware. Food takes forever coming out of the kitchen! We waited 70 minutes still no food! We ended up leaving. I only ask restaurants be honest when we get there if food is going to take a long time. Roland wine is a wonderful place to visit. Their wood fired pizza is very good. They sell wine by the bottle and or glass. Wine prices are not bad at all. Prices are what you would expect to pay for a good bottle wine. We had a pizza with the Cabernet. The Cabernet was great! Staff was very helpful and friendly. COVID - as the date of the review covid rules are in place. They are very cautious and good with the COVD. read more

The outdoor patio was perfect for a late summer eve. What's not to like about eating outdoors while lounging on a couch like a citizen of ancient Rome? They even had Bocci ball, which harkens to Italy as well, I suppose. You can bring the pooch and the youngsters. The food is good (very small menu, so you have to like pizza and salad), the wine is good...it's all good. One small recommendation is a different kind of gravel in the outdoor eating area. It is really dusty out there. But they used paper straws, no horrid plastic cups or any of that...so yeah! Next time you are in Kelso/Longview live like an ancient Roman! read more

I finally got a chance to visit Roland Wines. I was so glad I did! What an amazing place to have here in Longview. Family owned by long time residents, it provides and ambiance and class I have yet to see here. The wood fired pizza was very tasty and the in house wine was incredible (I tried several). I recently planned a surprise 80th birthday party for my mom. When searching for a venue I realized that Is not that easy. Either places were WAY overpriced unavailable or didn't return correspondence until I had my daughter call Rolands. Immediately she let me know how helpful and nice India the lady in charge of the event space was As the party approached the details were worked out and finally the event arrived. I had never been to Rolands and when I walked in I couldn't have been happier with how comfortable and perfect it was I then met India AMAZING The entire staff AMAZING The food was fantastic There were about 40 guests and EVERYONE of them had nothing but great things to say. Ok we moved here from Seattle and wanted to find a pizza restaurant that was not a chain. Got on Yelp and found,"Roland Wines". Appeared to have mostly good reviews. Got there went in the door and your basically one foot from the Bar and cash register. We stand there for 3 minutes and then ask another patron if you seat yourself. He didn't know either. A young lady finally yells,"Oh go seat yourself". We try to find a clean table to no avail. The waitress comes over and says,"Okay here are the menus and when you decide come back to the register". Go to the register and order and of course you have to pay straight away and leave a tip unbeknownst to the level of service or pizza you will receive. Pizza bland, cold, no cheese and needs at least salt to have a semblance of flavor. No one comes back and asks do you need anything else. So I have to go to the Bar and ask for salt. Get a tray with Parmesan, salt, old crust pieces and four old half eaten cashews on it. Bottom line if you want to lose $65 on two glasses of short pour wines and flavorless cold hipster pizza plus tip and tax you've found Longview Utopia. read more

I ordered a pizza. The server (who was also the owner) tried to bring it to the table in a funny/strange way and dropped pizza onto my lap. No apology. No offer to make it right (dry-cleaning, free pizza/drink/appetizer, discount... nothing). Then there is the actual pizza... there was so much dry flour on the bottom of the crust that it was like putting gauze wrap on your tongue with each bite. The atmosphere was decent. This business has recently moved to downtown Longview. If you're a fan of wine and pizza, by all means try this quaint offering. There are maybe six varieties of pizza and the same is true of wine. A pizza will be a generous single portion, but not enough for two. The dolcetto is my personal fav of their wine, but it's all quite nice! The ambiance is friendly and warm. The wines are excellent and they will give you a free sample of everything so you make the right choice. The wood fired pizza oven is a nice touch. The pizza is really good, but there was one day I went in and the crust wasn't as good as normal (could have been an off day). The owner is extremely nice and helpful. The wine is very good. In fact the signature wines tend to be sold out by the end of summer. The Foggy Notion, however, is excellent. We just moved to the area from Palm Desert CA where we had several great places we would go to for pizza. We googled this place and we thought we would give it a try. It's dark and in kind of a creepy area. I wasn't't sure if we were at the front door or not in the dark. We waited by the inside by the door for a few minutes then finally asked a customer if you seat yourself. The only tables available were all dirty. A young woman came over and gave us menus and said we had to order at the front. She came over and wiped the table down. It was too tiny for two pizzas so we moved to a bigger table. She came and cleaned it off. When the pizza came it looked good but was cold. We had to ask for a couple plates as we were sharing. Then I had to go up front and ask for salt and Parmesan. Then my husband went up and asked for a fork. The worst customer service ever. Not friendly. It appeared they help was all family and they were busy visiting with each other rather than caring about who their clientele was. We spent $50 on pizza and one glass of wine. My husband wanted to buy a bottle so he could have another glass and take it home so I could try it as I was the designated driver. The older man who was the owner I guess said "sorry we're trying to close. Don't hate me." It was a little after 9 p.m. Meanwhile 5 people at another table who had been visiting since we arrived were still there done eating and drinking. We're used to good customer service with attentive help not rude unfriendly people. Obviously these people don't need the business and they lost ours for sure. My husband had just driven all the way from Bremerton and was tired and just wanted a nice evening out. New to the area so far the only people that understand customer service is Applebee's. And they stay open past 9 pm. What is it here? The rain? Lack of sunshine? Or just poor upbringing? If this had been a good experience believe me these people would have made a ton of money from our family's business. I should have took a Costco pizza out of the freezer.
