Service was absolutely terrible. Worst ever. Slow, inattentive, took 8 minutes to be greeted and another 2 minutes for waters. Then my wife wanted a port wine, we asked the waitress and she said we don't have any "knowing they do" and i went to the bar to get it and the bartender said they didn't have it... our waitress went to the cellar and actually found it so he was like oh I need to go let the bartender know so Incase someone else asks for port she knows which one they have and she can serve it... well the bartender didn't like that and she started to argue with me and tell me that we must sell it by the bottle. I was like "MY WIFE HAS A GLASS IN FRONT OF HER RN the waitress went and found it. And the bartender kept fighting with me. This review is mainly a thanks! At one time I owned a lot of real estate on Lake Ray Hubbard. I grew-up going with my father (meeting his buddies) to Peter Luger Steak House, established in 1887 at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn, NY. So, I know good meat and cuts. Whenever I'd visit my properties, I'd go to Culpepper Cattle for my meat fix. Mind you, I owned a nice restaurant in Dallas to eat at for free! Some of my tenants were from Church on the Rock, Larry Lea followers. Everyone knew me well back then, with my 930 Porsche and other nice Dallas rides. I normally ate a Ribeye and a baked potato. Well, I actually was running through Rockwall and decided to try it again and it was great. My old restaurant is still going strong in Dallas! I didn't even go in. I went here with my wife for our anniversary on a Wednesday at 6:15pm. Wasn't crowded at all. We had the fried green tomatoes, 6oz filet, green beans, and cowboy potatoes. The food was delicious. Steak was cooked well, green beans and potatoes were also good. Had the highland margaritas. They were delicious and well made. They were expensive, but did not disappoint. I had 2. Any more would have been a problem. The service was highly attentive. I also noticed that the surrounding tables had prompt service. It appeared as if this was something the restaurant was putting a lot of focus on. Our server was very good. I think her name was Ainsley. The ambiance was quiet and we were able to converse without issue. The table was candle lit which was a nice touch. It was western themed, but not overdone. The wife and I had supper there Wednesday evening- a celebration of more than a few trips around the sun. We were greeted and taken to our table and our server took our drink and appetizer orders while we looked at the menu. We both wanted their river and discussed the options. The manager told us he might have a center cut and would carve off a piece larger than the offered 14 ounce piece. I ordered a 16 ounce cut done to medium along with grilled squash and a salad. Sandra ordered the 10 ounce, a baked sweet potato, and a salad. The salads were crisp! Soon, our meal was delivered. My steak was well-trimmed meaning i was getting 16 ounces of steak, not 13 ounces of meat and 3 ounces of fat. The seasoning was perfect, the meat was curable with a fork. The grilled squash perfectly complemented the meat. Sandra's was equally tasty although a bit overdone. Ribeyes are known for taste and tenderness. The trick is to grill them to just shy of medium. That temperature allows the dat to melt tenderizing the meat and adding to its taste. Too rare, the fat cannot worknm its magic. Cooled toward more done, thecfat burns off and the meat dries out and becomes chewie. Folks, when a great piece of meat is cut thin, it overcooks quickly. Culpepper's source for precut steaks makes the cut all thin. The supper ended with a delicious slice of key. lime pie. If you are looking for a great meal, Culpepper will deliver it. At 76, I have eaten many ribeye steaks. Mine this past Wednesday was one of the top five I have enjoyed. The service was first rate. The atmosphere was exceptional. Beef or chicken fajitas with all the trimmings for only $10 a plate. The service that we got from our waitress and staff was exceptional! While in town from San Diego, we discovered Culpepper Cattle Company. I was craving authentic Texas Mexican food, while my boyfriend had his heart set on a high-quality steak. The fusion of Mexican and steak options made this stop an easy choice. I had the sour cream enchiladas, and my boyfriend got the C.A.B filet--both dishes exceeded our expectations. We went there for my husband's birthday and I'm so disappointed in the quality of food they serve now. It used to be a great place for a steak. If you look at the reviews, the recent ones are not very good. The ones from years past were very good. We had steak and lobster. My husband's steak was semi good and he liked the lobster. However, the steak had no seasoning and was not a true filet cut. The baked potato that I got was warm and not hot and I had a hard time getting the better to even melt in there. The steak had a layer of fat across the top and it was filled with fat and gristle inside, and no seasoning on this steak either. It was so bad, I literally could not chew the steak and had to spit it out. The firecracker shrimp on the appetizer list is the only thing that was exceptional. read more

We've been here a few times, before and after the change. Since the changeover, we've come to listen to live music, have some drinks and a bit of food. We call and make a reservation, as we want to be near the band. We've been with another family with kids and just us, adults. The servers are always attentive and kind. Tonight i had the smash burger and I was blown away. I swapped the American cheese for cheddar, but that wouldn't have changed my mind one bit. The patties are seasoned really well and I can tell they are not frozen. I've eaten burgers in many, many restaurants and this is hands down the best. The "special sauce" and pickles compliment the cheese and patty really well. The shoestring fries were just okay. Next time I'll try the onion straws!
