The brunch layout was a little different. Overall, the food was good however, the options were limited if you are gluten-free. The mimosa and bloody mary bar is a cute unique idea that sets apart this restaurant from other breakfast buffets. The only misstep in my opinion would be the four dollars for a cup of "okay" coffee, and the fact that you have to request new plate if you want a second trip to the buffet line. Reservation was for 7:30 PM and I confirmed our arrival through Resy beforehand. We arrived at 7:24 PM, checked in, and the lobby was packed but hardly anyone was being seated. A hostess didn't approach us until around 7:50 PM and the interaction wasn't friendly. When we asked for an update at 8:00 PM, we were told we were the second party to be seated, yet we still weren't seated until 8:10 PM. We were placed by the exit door with cold air blowing on us constantly. The food took way too long, and when it arrived the sirloin steaks were overcooked and cold. The loaded baked potato was the only warm item, but it was missing cheese and had far too much butter. I found this place on Tik Tok and have been wanting to try it. The morning of my birthday, I said ok I will finally go. Everything was fine till I was seated. Noticing the plates on the table were dirty, I waited for the waiter to come as the host stated they will be there shortly. After waiting 5 minutes and seeing many servers pass by, no one came. There was even a server that visited the table next to me 4 times but no one ever said anything. I decided to leave and try another place after giving enough time. On my way out, I advised the host no one ever showed up and due to dirty plates with dried food on them, clean ones were needed. It was then she advised she would tell her manager and I asked if I could speak with them. At that moment, the waiter who visited the table next to me comes running around the corner and as the host was going to get the manager she stops him and has a conversation with him. Speaking with the manager, she was very apologetic, which I appreciate, even offered to sit me in a different area, but my mind to leave was made up. I advised her of many waitresses walking by, even the guy visiting the table next to me multiple times, but no one ever said anything. I'm very big on customer service. One bad experience can sway others. Not sure if the expectation of the server to say, I will be with you in a moment is valid, but that wasn't done. I called to make a reservation and in spite of it being such short notice for New Year's Eve, Will and Ashley let me know that they would do what they could to get us sat and squeeze us in on that night. I grew-up going with my father (meeting his buddies) to Peter Luger Steak House, established in 1887 at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn, NY. So, I know good meat and cuts. Whenever I'd visit my properties, I'd go to Culpepper Cattle for my meat fix. Mind you, I owned a nice restaurant in Dallas to eat at for free! Some of my tenants were from Church on the Rock, Larry Lea followers. Everyone knew me well back then, with my 930 Porsche and other nice Dallas rides. I normally ate a Ribeye and a baked potato. The wife and I had supper there Wednesday evening- a celebration of more than a few trips around the sun. We were greeted and taken to our table and our server took our drink and appetizer orders while we looked at the menu. We both wanted their river and discussed the options. The manager told us he might have a center cut and would carve off a piece larger than the offered 14 ounce piece. I ordered a 16 ounce cut done to medium along with grilled squash and a salad. Sandra ordered the 10 ounce, a baked sweet potato, and a salad. The salads were crisp! Soon, our meal was delivered. My steak was well-trimmed meaning i was getting 16 ounces of steak, not 13 ounces of meat and 3 ounces of fat. The seasoning was perfect, the meat was curable with a fork. The grilled squash perfectly complemented the meat. Sandra's was equally tasty although a bit overdone. Ribeyes are known for taste and tenderness. The trick is to grill them to just shy of medium. That temperature allows the dat to melt tenderizing the meat and adding to its taste. Too rare, the fat cannot worknm its magic. Cooled toward more done, thecfat burns off and the meat dries out and becomes chewie. Folks, when a great piece of meat is cut thin, it overcooks quickly. Culpepper's source for precut steaks makes the cut all thin. The supper ended with a delicious slice of key. lime pie. If you are looking for a great meal, Culpepper will deliver it. At 76, I have eaten many ribeye steaks. Mine this past Wednesday was one of the top five I have enjoyed. The service was first rate. The atmosphere was exceptional. Tonight we experienced a loud vulgar disruptive man at the bar. Inexcusable! Even the staff cringed at his comment, volume and vulgarity! Really??? Is it necessary to allow someone to impose his presence in such a negative and offensive way? Guests literally left the area due to his behavior. Very disappointed with Culpeppers.
