I recommend the deep dish...it's good ..not a true Chicago style..cheese was on top ..but it was cooked very well!!

This. Is. Italian. I was brought by my roommate. She bragged and this place earned the rights. I will be back. I had fettechini (sp.) marinara florentine. I'm saying this with an Italian American accent with all the hand motions. My intro salad was blah and no bread was brought out prior to the meal. That was disappointing. I wanted a more festive salad. My Mark West Pinot noir was preserved well. Great balance and flavor. It was crowded with families. I believe I was the only brown face in the building. I didn't get many looks though. Our service was great. The staff was young and underdressed. The place looks Italian swanky but the atmosphere was relaxed. My pasta was al dente, my sauce was full of flavor and thick. No watered down tomato paste. The spinach was chopped, bright green and tasteful. The cheese blended well and the chicken atop was tender. The flavor of the chicken was very on point but never took over the flavor of the sauce. (I have this problem at home.) the bread stick accompanying my dish was a great compliment. I could not finish my dish and I'm not a light eater. I cannot wait to return. It's a ways off the beaten path but the right person will make it worth the trip. I'm excited to return and try the other dishes. read more

Friday night dinner rush, only a 20 minute wait for 5. We were able to grab a tall beer and a glass of wine for a very reasonable price while we waited. The wait proved to be about 10 min as we were seated immediately. We ordered the House special, Calabrese, and mushroom/pepperoni/sliced sausage pizzas. All proved to be delicious. If we're paying homage to Mr. Dave Portnoy himself, the one-bite scores are as follows, respectively: 8.2 / 8.1 / 7.8 *scores skewed due to beer consumption* All in all great experience and would love to come back when the weather is better to sit on the patio! read more

Food is overrated and not very flavorful. Seems to fall into the category of "Lansing excellent."

I stopped into Cugino's at dinner time on a Saturday afternoon. My family and I were a bit intimidated at first by the line going out the door, but we were assured that the wait would only be thirty minutes. We were told that we were welcome to sit at the bar while we waited, and the bartenders were very nice and accommodating. While we had already seen a menu online, they offered to show us a menu in case we wanted to be ready when we were seated. Within thirty minutes we were seated, and our waitress took our orders very promptly. And was very kind in recommending portions and what we should order, since it was our first time. We had the breadsticks, and they were delicious. They are ginormous and the pizza sauce goes perfectly with them. They honestly could be an entre and were a huge reason why I enjoyed my dinner. The rest of our food took a while to come out, but I can understand because it was a busy Saturday night. When our food did come out, my family all enjoyed it. I had a deep-dish pizza, and I think I really would have enjoyed it, but the bottom of the crust was black. Because of how burnt it was I didn't enjoy it as much as I think I could have, but other than that dinner was fantastic. I sincerely recommend Cugiano's to anyone who is in the area and is looking for a fantastic meal. I have no doubt that you will enjoy the atmosphere, the people, and certainly the food. read more

We visited Grand Ledge and this restaurant was highly recommended. We had high hopes but had a bad experience. We ordered the deep dish pizza and it stated on the menu that it would take 1/2 hour or longer to cook. We ordered a salad while we waited. The salad was ok. Our pizza order was pepperoni, mushroom, and green pepper. Our pizza was brought to us and they told us that it was actually made mistakenly with pepperoni, mushroom, and ground beef and to go ahead and try it otherwise it would be another half hour or so to make another pizza. I said I really wanted our original toppings. They said they would bring us some grilled peppers the throw on top. We were pretty hungry with the kids by this time and they had also ordered fettuccine Alfredo. They would not try the pizza because of the ground beef topping. We had planned on sharing the pizza with them as well. It really wasn't a topping choice that we would ever order so it wasn't that great. And it just wasn't the same putting the peppers on top. Had a different flavor grilled rather than cooked in the pizza. :( I thought they would've offered us a little discount from the mixup but when the check arrived there was no discount, and they also charged us a dollar for the extra plate because our daughters shared the fettuccine Alfredo dinner. I am sure if all was well with our order we would have left happy but our waitress didn't even seem very apologetic. Almost as if we should have appreciated the free ground beef!! read more

It's easily the best pizza in Lansing. Bread sticks are huge and the sauce is delicious. Salads are large and the blue cheese dressing is awesome. Looking for a meal, try any of the pastas but my favorite is the stuffed raviolis. I've never been hungry enough to order desert, so your on your own for desert. Somehow another Italian joint in Lansing wins awards. Not sure why as Cugino's is the best Italian food in the Lansing are. The only place that makes Pasta Carbonara the right way. When you order pasta, unlike the other award winner, there's not a half inch of water on the plate. The breadsticks are a meal on their own. Get there early on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday as they get super crowded. read more

I've eaten here a few times and have had nothing to complain about until this most recent visit. I love olive burgers and ordered one after reading the description which listed mayo as an ingredient in the olive sauce. It absolutely was not mayo, it was miracle whip. I try to avoid real sugar and miracle whip contains sugar. It was gross. After determining that there was no real mayo to be had I took my burger home with me along with some naked olives that they gave me and I doctored it up right and ate it the next day. They did offer to make me something else (at that point I was no longer hungry) but they did NOT offer to take it off my bill. I tried to explain to them that they couldn't list an ingredient that they didn't even have, as there are other people besides myself that can't have sugar, but I doubt that they made any changes. I can't believe how many restaurants list mayo when they really use miracle whip.....there are many. The sweet potato fries that I ordered were good as was the service. I will be back, I just know not to order the olive burger on any future visits. read more

Sadly disappointed...The good news was we inly had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The bad news is as busy as this place is you would expect the food to be great. But it wasn't it was just ok. We started with the bruschetta, it was pretty obvious that it wasn't made fresh today. It was brownish in color and in all honesty what Italian restaurant puts corn in bruschetta and even worse it was bland. My husband and I shared the Margherita pizza and the stuffed shells with meatballs. The meatballs were flavorful but pretty dry. I found the pasta sauce, cheese and the entire pizza pretty bland. Its like they only halfway seasoned their dishes. The waitress was cordial but nothing impressive in the customer service department. It did take awhile to get the two soda's that we ordered, we got them at the same time as the bruschetta appetizer. Next time i'll find somewhere else to eat or make it at home myself. read more

Cuginos is heaven! Been a loyal customer since they opened. I've tried almost every pasta but the cheese ravioli with vodka sauce is the best in the world, I could bathe in that sauce The bruscetta chicken salad if you're watching your weight, is delicious and really satisfying. Descent wines, beers also. And honestly the staff, who, many have been there for years, feel like family, because owners Pat and Mark set that example with how they treat customers and employees alike. The smell of heavenly sauce greats you when you walk through the door. I'm lactose free but i will risk my stomach just to have a tasty bite of my friends pizz because it's that good. Cugino's easily has the best pizza in the Lansing area, and the Pasta Roma is the best pasta dish that I've ever eaten. Prices are very reasonable. I have had spotty service here, but the food makes up for it. They have a large seating area and the food comes quickly. You sometimes have to wait, but that's to be expected at 7:00 on a Friday or Saturday night. People who complain about the wait would do well to take their patronage to Fazoli's. read more

I have heard that this is owned by cousins of the people who own Deluca's. Cugino's has everything that Deluca's has but with good pasta. The pesto pasta always tastes super fresh, and comes with a big buttery garlic breadstick on the side. For all the food you get the prices are inexpensive, and the atmosphere is pretty nice. 3.5 star review for cuginos. I like cuginos. Their food is pretty good. But it's the kind of good that you want if you are already there. There are places that I would drive to, in order to get exactly that. Cuginos is not one of those, for me. Fortunately, I live pretty close but honestly I am never dying to go there, nor do I think of it and crave it. I have had a few different things here from, pizza, pasta, calzone to salads. Their calzones and pasta dishes are great, pizza is good, and salad... is salad if you are into that sorta thing. The hardest thing about cuginos for me is their service. Its definitely friendly but the times I have been in its so, stinking slow. I am assuming it's the kitchen and not the servers, maybe the space size is too big for the kitchen size? And the hostesses? One time I went there and was told for a group of 6, the wait would be a half hour. No biggie, it was summer and it was nice out so we could stroll downtown. Unfortunately the half hr wait became an HOUR AND FIFTEEN. Whats up with that? And they never said anything regarding out wait. That to me is a dropped ball for sure. So best bet is to takeout. The food is still good and you don't have to worry about the service woes. If you are already on the west side of Lansing, go ahead and pick something up. You won't be disappointed by their food, but if you decide to stay it's pretty hit or miss. read more

Cugino's is excellent. Great Italian for a small town - and a must try for Lansing locals. I actually like their bar / standard dining area. They have a side cut out for more of a sports bar dining experience as well. The only knock is the overall space does not compete with the number of patrons knocking their door down on a Friday or Saturday night. So, if you stop in - be prepared that you might have a wait. BUT - it is worth it. So don't be scared away. The homemade breadsticks are fantastic. Definitely a need as a starter. Have tried multiple pasta dishes which each were tasty and more than enough to fill you up. Actually - take home was required. I have not had the pizza or calzone yet (believe it or not) - but I hear they are excellent too. This is a place that will have your taste buds watering. read more

Went here for the first time with my husband during his lunch break. It wasn't too crowded and we were seated right away. I love the atmosphere - a little dim, comfy & cozy. Our server was nice, always smiling and checking up on us. I ordered the shrimp diavolo and my husband ordered the carbonara. Our side salads were a good portion and I really enjoyed the Italian dressing! For lunch, the portion of the pasta were was also pretty big and well worth $11-12! I expected the shrimp diavolo sauce to be less creamy, and I felt like there was too much sauce for the spaghetti but I loved the spicy kick! The shrimp was a little overcooked for my liking, but a good size. I tasted my husband's carbonara and it was fantastic! The bacon was cooked to perfection; not too crispy but not too soft. I could taste the bacon all throughout the sauce, and it was well seasoned. Sometimes carbonara could use a little more salt, but not this time! I also felt that there was too much sauce with this dish, but once we took it home and re-heated it, it was good that there was extra sauce or else the noodles would've been dry. Overall, great place to dine and would definitely recommend it! Good customer service. 4 stars, only because they could probably use less sauce in their pasta dishes. read more
