I've had good and bad experiences here, but the bottom line is a good cleaning and better customer service, quality control, and bartender attitudes could go a long way to make this place 3-4 stars. The Good: -Plenty of pool tables, couple dart boards, and shuffleboard. -Jukebox -Drinks are normally made strong and fairly priced. -Most patrons tend to be nice. -Some bartenders are cool. -Allows outside food to be brought in. -Plenty of parking due to location. -Wide age range of patrons. The Bad: -Limited seating -Some male bartenders are rude/jerks, and have poor customer service. -Even though the drinks are made strong you often wonder "WTF is that nasty taste?". -The smell of the entrance and bar area. -Sticky or gross carpet, floors or table/counter surfaces. -Bathrooms are nasty and beat up. -Some rude drunk locals/friends of the staff that feel like they own the place. read more

Cue & Brew the only real bar near me in Martinez. And a pretty cool bar at that pool tables, a bunch of big screen TVs with sports on, dart boards, cool digital jukebox and a well stocked bar not so bad. $11 an hour for the pool tables very reasonable especially compared to San Francisco. The bartender is kick ass megs excellent drinks and doesn't skimp on the alcohol ;-) the crowd varies by night but usually a good mix of younger with some old locally types. I like this bar and its divey vibe and I think it's cool that you look out the window in you see walmart. Nothing like a pool cue in one hand moonshine in the other and looking at Walmart . Although they do not have food there's a wing place and a Hawaiian barbecue place next door and you can bring it in. read more

AKA "Wal-Bar" due to its proximity to Walmart in the same parking lot, this is a locals dive bar. My friend's friend was singing with her band here, which is what brought us to this place. There is a small stage to the left of the entrance, room enough for a small cover group. To the right of the entrance is the bar with a bartender slinging brews. The middle of the room is where its at, with pool tables where you can play to your heart's content. They have seating as well where you can listen to people up on stage. read more

This place is in a parking lot between Wal-Mart and Home Depot. If you don't mind that, it's actually not bad if only to come here for a game of pool and a beer. The bartenders have always been very friendly (with one exception), they have a decent selection of beer, pour stiff drinks, and have a great special for pool before 6 pm. (I believe it's $6/hour for a table) I did see a few fights at the bar here, but they were resolved very quickly by the staff. Also,when I've come here, it's been quiet (once during the day, and a few times in the evening). There is a pricey and limited jukebox, but it would be nice for them to just have music playing. We have lived down the street from this place for months and just recently went one night with a bunch of family after bowling at Paddock. It was a Saturday night so it was a bit crowded but it didn't feel TOO crowded. All of the people in there seemed like they were just there to genuinely have a good time and not to cause any trouble. The tunes were amazing and they were even playing Country music towards the end of the night which I love!! I hat being at a bar and all they play is rap or pop. Country, oldies, and rock are my kind of vibe when I am out drinking and having fun. The drinks were good and cold and not overpriced and the bartender was great and very attentive I loved her! My Fiance and my friend and his GF came to Cue & Brew to shoot some pool Saturday Night. Cue & Brew is a nice sports bar and Pool Hall. You would never guess this place is here as it shares a parking lot with Walmart and Home Depot and the freeway is very close by. They have about 8 - 10 pool tables here along with a pretty nice size bar. The place is clean and doesn't have the "pool hall" vibe to it. Mostly people come here to either watch the game or shoot some pool. They have a good selection of beer on tap and cost was about $10 to rent the table for about an hour for the 4 of us. The tables were "ok" (certainly seen better and definitely seen worst) but they were good enough for a game of 8 ball. They had plenty of cue's here but that work, but you're serious about pool, bring your own stick. The have a pretty good selection of music on the jukebox and there are probably about 8 - 10 tvs around this place so you can watch the game no matter what where you're at in the place. Overall a nice chill place to have a couple of beers and shoot some pool. Would definitely come back to this place again to watch a game, shoot some pool, and drink beer. This is a rather nice place to go and play. The tables are maintained well and the house sticks are some of the best I have encountered in the East Bay. The atmosphere is nice and very conducive to playing a quality game. The drinks are strong enough for my taste and the restrooms were clean. While I probably would not visit for any reason beyond playing pool, It seems to draw many who have no plans to do so. read more

This is probably the nicest venue I've seen the band I follow play. The stage is at the back on the first level, and in front you can busy your drinking self with pool, darts, and conversation with tons of tables. I'm a dancing fool when it comes to great music, and there was space for me to strut near and around the stage. On the lower level, there is enough tables for a lot of groups to shoot pool and drink those yummy inexpensive drinks. The bar stands out of the way, which proves helpful when it gets busy. I hear they have karaoke, so I might check it out sometime too! That is, when my friend's band isn't rockin their stage. If you find me there, ask me to play darts so I can beat your sorry butt. Most bars in Martinez remind me of why, in the 70's, it was the Crystal Meth (Speed) capital of California. This isn't one of them. "The Q" is my local haunt. I like it mostly because it's not like the other Martinez bars. Don't get me wrong, you can still find a dirtbag or two on random nights, but this bar really feels out of place - it should be in Pleasant Hill or on the outskirts of Walnut Creek, but it's in Martinez, so I don't have to drive as far to have a good time. It's laid back - jeans and t-shirt or shorts and flip-flops are common attire. The bartenders know what they're doing, are cute and personable. There are some good beer on tap as well. The MP3 Jukebox has a huge variety pre-loaded and is internet connected so any song you want can be found. There are coin op tables and pay per hour tables. The tables are in decent shape, but don't expect tournament quality here. There's 2 dartboards and shuffleboard if you feel the urge. In a nutshell, it's just a comfortable, local bar. read more

It's truly a bar with pool tables and a juke box. It has a full bar but very limited selection of wines. Actually, just one kind, Sutter Home; and it comes in those little bottles that you get in the hotel rooms. I came with a group of friends. I was disappointed that they do not serve food. We had to go next door to Wings. We brought back baskets of tenders to share them with the group. The establishment is nice enough to allow food from the outside. I get to this place and the bartender asks me what I want and I asked for a cocktail he coyld recommend because frankly...I don't know any. He looked at me like I was stupid. Cue & Brew surprisingly sets a standard for bars located directly in Martinez. They raise you 10 pool tables, all at good pricing not over $15, and way cheaper depending on the hour/time you're there. The bartenders know their drinks, though their tap choices are pretty on par. Nothing is over the top as far as cost goes, which will always be a plus. They've got the touch tunes, darts (which are free), shuffleboard. About 7 TVs. It's a great day-time bar. I will say this I am a fan. I came here on a Thursday night with some of the boys to grab some beers and play pool. We got in there and it's a pretty big place with lots of room so you won't be bumping into people all the time at cramped tiny bars. The atmosphere is a little confused. It's definitly a dude bar, hardly any women inside and the music choices are scattered. One minute they play country the next minute ASAP Rocky, it was hard to get into the scene. The bar is pretty well stocked and the drinks areat a decent price so a plus. However the price to play pool is their downfall. It is way too expensive for my liking. There are cheaper rates at the local bowling alley or another pool bar in Berkeley which has more young people and college students and since that is my age group I feel more comfortable but this place is more low key for chill nights. It is in the middle of a strip mall in the wal mart parking lot so tons of parking. It was pretty cool just a little confusing trying to figure out it's identity and pool rates are too expensive but it's okay for what is around the area. read more
