Just don't go here. The service is really bad. The food is just ok. Just avoid this place. It really is not worth your hard earned money.

Food is better than prior location with a small but decent menu. Service was great and the place is clean with indoor outdoor seating.

We were greeted by two young ladies who were very friendly as well as professional. It is a chic restaurant, and the decorating is modern eclectic; pleasing to the eyes and spirit. Very welcoming. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and my wife had the house burger. Each sandwich came with these unique potato wedges. Not sure what they were seasoned with, but they were ridiculously good, as well as addictive. Jimmy, our server, made sure that we wanted for nothing. He was outstanding. As was the entire staff. Highly recommend. We will return. The only issue I had was that one of the Hostess happened to be a Raiders fan. That topic came up when I paid the check with my SAN FRANCISCO 49er debit. All in fun! And that, is another story for another day...

I've been here 3-4 times now, and every single visit has been consistently amazing. That's hard to find! Everything we've tried has been delicious, and I love that they even have mocktail options for my daughter so she can enjoy the experience too. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but in my opinion, it's absolutely worth it. The staff is wonderful, the ambiance is beautiful, and the upscale décor makes the whole experience feel special. I honestly feel like this place is a hidden gem because of its location. I would definitely recommend checking this spot out before Coach's Tavern. Come hungry because the FOOD IS INCREDIBLE.

From the moment we sat down, it felt like everyone was in a rush to get us in and out. Our waitress came over almost immediately and, without even a hello or introduction, simply asked what we wanted to drink. We also ordered a BBQ chicken salad, and the waitress asked what kind of dressing we wanted on it. I thought that was a little odd because I've always known salads like that to come already tossed or prepared with the dressing. When I questioned it, she acted like I was the weird one for asking. Throughout the meal, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. Even the person who brought out our food basically just dropped it on the table and walked away. The food was good, but when you're going out for a nice dinner--especially on a date--you expect the service and overall experience to match. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case for us last night.

After spending the day at Willow Springs Raceway, it has always been a tradition to eat at Baracoa afterwards for the past couple of years now. We all love their dishes. The oxtail is raved about, service is always excellent, vibes are great esp on live music nights. This time around, we had a slightly larger party since there were more of us at the raceway this day and we were excited for our friends to finally try Baracoa. We've always had maybe 1 or 2 dogs with us and so we'd sit out on the patio. These dogs are quiet and obedient. They just lie under the table at your feet and are never restless & never beg/bark/whine. Since we had a larger party and now 3 dogs with us, maybe it drew more attention? Our waiter said that he will have to ask the boss if it's okay that we have dogs since usually it's policy to not have dogs on the premises. We were so confused since we've been coming here. The boss/owner/manager, I can't remember exactly his title, came outside and let us know that unfortunately, pets are not allowed, even on the patio. We were all taken aback with nothing to say except having dropped jaws as he was walking away. Before he completely left our sight, we asked when that became a policy since we have always been here with dogs. He said it's always been a rule and cannot speak for his employees and the decisions they make when he's not there. He goes on to state that the pets are unclean and that he has customers. In that moment, I thought, "What are we then? Have we never been customers?" With a firm tone, he asked us to cooperate. It would have been a different kind of feeling if this boss had said ANYTHING along the lines of, "We would love to have you back to dine with us, but please without your dogs." This interaction felt like major rejection, hate towards pets, and to just get out immediately. We had already ordered 3 cortado frios, which I always think is to-die-for here, and that will be our last sips from them. It was also way more sweet than strong this time, sadly. We will not be returning to this establishment.

This is a review in two parts. First, lunch…read more Maxdons claims to have the best steaks in town. Pretty bold statement. However, the place has been around for a long time and the rumor is that it is pretty darn good so I figured I would try the lunch menu. I will be returning this weekend to try the dinner menu and report in on any differences that I may find because this lunch experience was somewhat unique and definitely worth writing about. Upon entering, I was washed over with a wave of nostalgia. It reminded me of all of those semi-fancy places I got to experience with my parents in the 1970s from the lighting to the ambience to the music to the general overall feel, which is very welcoming. And if you are as old as I am, will definitely take you back. And that is a great way to get an appetite started. However, that's when things got a little strange... On a Saturday afternoon, they had exactly one young lady tending bar, working the grill, and acting as a server for not only the interior but for the outside patio area. I'm not sure whether or not this is a gimmick or just a very inefficient way to save money, but let me tell you that that young lady worked herself crazy to take care of everybody and under the circumstances did a fine job of it. Unfortunately, the grill is out in the main dining area and an open fire grill unattended can create somewhat of a safety issue. In addition, an old gentleman well into his cups decided to go over and place his face 6 inches above the food that was currently being cooked, which I thought was a little unsettling. Based on all of this, I decided to order a cheeseburger in that I did not want to risk $50-$60 on a steak that was not going to be attended to consistently. That, dear reader, will come to pass this weekend when I go in for dinner this weekend. Now that we have a basic understanding of the layout, I want to mention a few awesome things: The cocktails were very well made. Generous pours, but they didn't overdo it and the result was delicious. I, myself, enjoyed a Mai Tai. The salad bar was modestly stocked, but did not have a bunch of unnecessary, ridiculous items that people seem to think makes a salad taste better. They also had a soup of the day. But, at 95° outside was not on my list of things to eat. Again, that will be Saturday. The cheeseburger was surprisingly delicious due to the fact that I don't think it was looked at more than twice and flipped more than once, but it was pretty darn good with a great char, and medium as ordered. Upon requesting the check, it was noticed that the dinner salad listed on the menu at $7.99 was charged at $25. After three different conversations, the overworked server / cook / bartender realized the error and immediately made things right. All in all this place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The research I did shows that the locals just love it. You can go on a classy date or something casual with some friends, and you will still have that sophisticated, refined throwback to an earlier time when going out to dinner was truly an event. The only concern I have is for a staff member having to deal with several people and wear several hats with no backup whatsoever. The inability to stay on top of a grill that is consistently going in the main dining area is a safety concern, but not the fault of the server herself. This is a management decision and I would definitely recommend that a second person is always on whether it is lunch or dinner. She did mention that in the dinner time cycle, there is another person who comes in to assist and that is the reason I'm going back Saturday. I want to see how the dinner turn and burn works because the burger was really good and I imagine that the steaks are gonna be just as good as everybody says they are. It is definitely worth a visit. Until then....

Unfortunately, tonight's service was the final act for Maxdons. First, a bit of background…read more We have been visiting and recommending Maxdons for many years. We have enjoyed the service provided by several of the wait staff, with notably great service from Taylor and Shannon. The drinks and food have also been wonderful. Why else would we visit almost weekly with a per visit average spend of more than $120.00? Sadly, there have also been visits with disappointing service. The most recent being 9/2/26 wherein we sat mostly unattended for 26 minutes. We were served a glass of water and one apple Martini after a long wait. My wife took a sip or two of the Martini and found it lacking. We waited and felt we were not going to be served. So we left. We abandoned the drink on the table. And then there was tonight. We sat at the rearmost table since the booths were all occupied (with the exception of the two large booths). We waited a bit longer than what would be normal. The server came to our table and brought us menus, leaving immediately while stating she would be back shortly. She returned to take our drink order, and when my wife ordered an iced tea, she asked if we had ordered two Martinis a couple of weeks ago but left without paying for them. Initially I was taken back by the question as we have been traveling for over two weeks and I thought she might be mistaken. But she pressed the case and then I remembered our last visit (a month prior). I let the server know that yes, I did recall that we left, abandoning one unfinished Martini, not paying because service was lacking. That didn't seem to matter but she said she'd ask the manager about it. We let her know that we'd pay for that one Martini, but she walked away to the back. When she returned, she reported that the manager said while they appreciate our business we need to pay for the drinks. I was shocked since there was zero acknowledgement of the poor service that led to our leaving the drink behind. I asked the server if this is the hill that the manager wanted to die on, to which she just nodded. So we paid the $13.00 for the one Martini and left. Man, what a bummer this whole experience was. I always tip well. I'm loyal to a place I like. I will overlook the occasional bad times we might have. Sometimes a place is just having a tough night. But wow. This was just crazy. Sorry to say guys, I just feel this was the death blow to our years of loyalty. Thanks for the many good, and even great times. But the bad experiences, capped by this, outweigh them and may just be the Universe saying it's time to move on. I know the cash we've brought you guys over the years is no big deal (a $250-400/month drop in the bucket), so you won't even notice we're gone. But we'll miss the good times.
