I don't usually write reviews. but I felt that the great experience that I had at 10x Self Storage…read moredeserved my taking the time to write this one. I had looked at several other storage facilities in the area when I was selling my house and moving into an apartment and needed to store some of my stuff. 10x Self Storage beat all of the rest that I looked at. The manager that I first met with was excellent and and explained the whole process to me who hadn't rented a unit previously. The facility is easily accessible and conveniently situated with lots of parking. It is climate controlled and the inside access is great as opposed to other facilities which only had access from the outdoors and were not climate controlled. The building is kept very clean which I appreciated.

Previously, I was at a competitor. I had a small 5x10 unit, outdoor access, not climate controlled, and part-time attendant. I went there because it was close, and they had a "first month free" offer. I never actually got that free month, and they raised my rates twice in a six month period by a large amount. At first, it was $85/month, then two months in it was raised to $133/mo; then I got a notice in November that it would be raised to $180/mo right before Christmas. I decided it was time to move out and find some place better. I got a unit at 10x Self Storage on Pullman Street. The unit was 10x10 (actually a little bigger), indoor, and climate controlled. At $175/mo, it was a tad cheaper than my previous unit with way more benefits. They offered 50% off for the first three months, and actually stuck by the offer (unlike the previous place that never gave me the promised free month). I used the 10x10 for a year, then downsized to a smaller 5x5 unit at $59/mo before moving out (I no longer needed extra storage). I really appreciate a company that doesn't bait-and-switch, and that doesn't get you into a unit only to jack your rates up. I found 10x to be an honest business, top quality, and a pleasure to do business with. I recommend them, and would also use their facilities again.

My unit was on the 4th floor level in a "secured building". This must be something that happens frequently since when i went to pick up the keys for the new lock maintenance put on for me, the lady in the office with me said the same thing happened to her a few months ago here. Staff does not care. They did not have cameras where they needed to be. The regular elevators in the building had all been shut down and not working pretty much since ive had the unit for 1.5 years. So I would have to walk up 4 flights of stairs and or use the freight elevator if it wasn't in use which was very inconvenient especially being pregnant and having asthma.

Going…read morethrough the horrors of trying to move out of my 10 year residence, a building that due to new owners now has chemical leaks.., cannot drink the water, drug addicts smoking all night making many people sick; I am so ill, weak. 1st storage I tried was my old storage place used many years ago in Worcester. Was a nice place. Sadly the owner (a senior lady) passed away and the nice co-manager Mike is no longer there. New people took over, they are very strange; first they said Mike still works there. Turned out not to be true. Then it took the new manager 1 hr. 45 min to sell me one unit and then I had to beg for the receipt and unit number. The lady spent much time talking on phone to friends and telling her story about how she is suing the Worcester town hall manager. She kept stopping work on my paperwork as she took time out to chat with other people in office and new customers that walked in. I thought she and other person might be on some kind of drug. Then after I asked to please show me the unit; she gave my receipt to a guy. He could not read the page (maybe low eyesight, so no big deal), but I had to remind him he is holding my receipt, please give back my receipt page because it has my unit... info. I finally realized things are not right there. They did the same to a older man the week prior, had him in tears begging for the paperwork and asking why its been a hour just to rent a storage unit? That scared me off, but I returned a week later thinking I was over judging the situation. Then they did the same strange behavior to me. Should have followed gut feeling, 'common sense'. When I told the lady I decided not to take the unit she became very angry and started talking abusive, picking a fight, saying that I am abnormal, weird... I now feel that I should change my credit card, banking numbers. They got all my info and wanted to connect it to western union to pay their friend to move my stuff. I had to put a stop on it. I got out of there, feeling a bit scared. I wont list the name of the company because the main owners do not know this manager is this way. Main company may be a good business. They have other locations, nice managers. I then searched the internet for a better (normal) storage company. I found Cubesmart on 19 McKeon road. (CubeSmart has polite, nice people) The lady manager is so nice, very professional and got my paperwork and unit processed and the unit shown to me in about only 20 minutes! I rented this unit on Oct. 6th, 2016. I told her its so great to meet a normal, honest person as I go through this moving experience. Its a safe place to store my books, extra cloths... Great security, easy/fast entrance, a lift... Will use it in future when I return to California to retire. UPDATE; after 10 months (Oct 2016 to July 2017) of hauling my stuff 1-2 trips day, I finally got all belongings into my new apt. CubeSmart employees were so nice, allowing me to move in this way due to not having a car, money to pay movers a second time. I paid my rent a month ahead and told them they can keep it as a tip for being so mice. They refunded it! So, I got a extra $140.00 when moved out! (CubeSmart bought Casey Storage in 2016. They do many improvements when they buy a storage business! Flowers, more cameras, lights.)
