I have been at this Cubesmart for about a year now. This morning I stopped to get a chair and locked myself out of my van. It thankfully it was early and manager Jimmy was still on site in his apartment. He rescued me, invited me into sit down while he called AAA. Once arranged, he drove me over to my unit since I am mobility impaired and decided to try and open my van door. It took him a few minutes and he was in. The Cubesmart on E. Carmel in San Marcos has only been open for less than a year. On their website the reviews go back 4plus years. Secondly, they advertise "free truck to help you move". Another lie. Third lie, the manager assistant assured me my unit was in my name and it turns out I lost my lifelong belongings today because I couldn't pay for my unit unless I paid for another person's unit whom should have never been able to change names on a unit. They were not accessible for the first month I leased as they were painting the facility for 2 weeks, then doing asphalt, then changing code readers, etc. I feel discriminated against and scammed by this facility. The manager won't listen to what you are trying to communicate, he's quick to use his "authority". I'd go anywhere else who may treat their customers with courtesy and not try to keep charging your credit card the same day the units been sold at an auction. read more

Great storage location. CubeSmart is already a large, reputable company, so I especially appreciated the staff and management at this particular location, as they were extremely helpful from move-in through move-out. For example, upon move-in, (since personnel are in the Escondido location), it was great to have the manager waiting for me at the San Marcos location on time and with all the necessary forms/documentation, which were easy to read through, ask questions about, and sign/receive digital copies on the spot. Would have given 5 stars for the service, attitude and professionalism from the beginning... until "He" entered the picture and ruined the company's reputation in my mind forever (or at least until they relieve this so-called "Manager" from his obviously overwhelming responsibility of providing at least an attempt at customer service, as opposed to an unprofessional, completely irrational, and over the top power trip (however much power a pathetic live-on-the-property-manager can attain). I'm a very patient, mild-mannered professional. Rarely do I speak up when it comes to poor customer service. I'm a generous tipper with servers/drivers and give people the benefit of the doubt when their attitude is less than professional. Everyone is entitled to the occasional bad day. I can't begin to describe the dreadful encounters that I had to put with regarding this sad little man's lack of compassion, spiteful demeanor and overwhelmingly bitter attitude, but I will give it a shot. The way this an spoke to me on every occasion honestly left me shocked and speechless at the time. So much so that I truly thought I was on some hidden camera prank show like Candid Camera or Punk'd. A show that was out to see how much it would take to push your average Joe Customer to the point of instigating a violent reaction. He went that far with his threats of calling the Sheriff, unreasonable and unfounded demands that I be of the property in ten minutes, when I clearly only had half of my Uhaul unloaded, and limiting my hours of access to my storage unit to "office hours" of 9:30am-6pm as opposed to 6am to 10pm, just because I was literally ONE minute late getting to the exit gate by 10pm. No joke, there were 2 incidents that I got to the exit at 10:01 (according to their clock that was 3 minutes faster than the Sprint network on my phone) and caused him to have to have to walk 15' from his door to override the gate lock to let me out. Regardless of my apologetic, "yes sir, no sir" demeanor, which I'm proud to have maintained throughout every encounter. And I didn't want to be the next viral video guy who lost his cool, because i was pretty damn sure this guy was trying to evoke a response out of me that should've landed him in the hospital and me in a cell. But I am all about Karma and decided to go the legal route, file a report with his supervisor, as well as the Better Business Beureau. He retaliated by cancelling my gate code 3 days prior to an eviction, demanded that I move my belongings and then refused to grant me access when I told him I would be there with another Uhaul rental. Completely vindictive and childish move by an obviously poor excuse for a manager that must've been picked on or bullied in high school and was getting even with society by completely overstepping the boundaries of business, much less being civil to a customer who's only mistake was choosing Cube Smart Storage on Rancheros Dr. in San Marcos. Completely halted my faith in humanity. Hope this helps in your decision for storage. Now I'm using Storage Solutions just around the corner and the live in property manager, Kym Davis, is well on her way to restoring that lost faith. Much nicer, cleaner and bigger facility with lower prices as well. Even though the access hours are a bit shorter, I would recommend Storage Solutions over CubeSmart 100% You get 1 star CubeSmart... you're welcome. read more
