Cube smart is a storage facility located @187th on Jamaica Ave. My initial visit was an inquiry. A male representative by name of Omar.... I forgot his entire name, provided me with a slew of information, he was very informative, respectful, and courteous. Displaying professionalism and quality driven customer service skills. I came back and dealt with Lynise when I was ready to move in. She went over the unit size to ensure I would get the perfect size for my needs. She went over the prices and searched to find promotions that I may be eligible to receive. Both representatives gave a tour. During the tour I found the facility neat and clean. The also gave me comfort that my belongings would be safe and secure at this gated facility where they provide you a code to get pass the gate and inside of the building. It's a 5 story facility consisting of small, medium, and large units inside with a four car garage that provides shelter from the elements while loading or unloading your vehicle. There are also outside units to drive up to as well and they give you an option of long term or short term rental with no contract is or obligation. They have packing products in stock for purchase but they do not provide any dumpsters for waste material. They also have about four parking spots and one handicap parking spot at the entrance. He was very good with customer service. Lynise helped me to gauge what size unit would work best for the amount of things that I would be storing. The hours at this facility are not convenient to people who work 9-5pm. The elevators are slow, the moving truck that you have advertising on the property doesn't even work so you can't use it. What kind of business is this? Why is there only 1 moving truck and why hasn't it been fixed ? The staff is phenomenal going above and beyond to help people. The business seems like a rip off. I was supposed to get a truck for free for renting a storage unit the driver never called me back, the company never called me to confirm a time they just picked any time and then I just missed out on a moving truck. Horrible place of business so they removed my review because I was speaking the truth. There is a black man who wears a afro and he was extremely rude and disrespectful I do not appreciate how you guys are still handling business with folks who do not like working and treat their customers with no respect. He was mean and yelling at me through the door telling me they were closed at 5:47pm when it says they close at 7pm! I purchased my storage from this CubeSmart location at the end of November 2023. They offered different promotional discounts to secure your business for different storage units. I am one of those customers who took advantage of said promotional discounts and booked my unit. The store representative began to explain briefly the different rules and regulations as well as billing information. They stated that I would be charged $12 for insurance, 10$ for a lock unless I provided my own and that late fees would be $10 on the 6th day after a 5 day grace period and another $10 on the 16th day and $110 after 30 days. My bill ends up totaling to roughly $127/month with the promotional discount which wasn't so bad. The month of March 2024 comes and I received a letter in the mail stating that my rent will be increased to $171 for the month of April. It made no sense to me why my rent would go up almost $50 so I asked a store rep. The guy told me that the original promotional discount has expired and that rent can go up at any point without notice. Not only did the rent go up, the late fee after 5 days is $31 which made absolutely no sense to me . I felt that they were very misleading from the very beginning because why didn't they explain and address this prior to ? I would've never signed the lease agreement had I known that the promotional rate would expire and that my rate would increase exponentially without notice l. They are very misleading in their tactics and take advantage of their customers to gain business. It's also very inconvenient that one cannot make partial payments on their online site. When you call their location phone # , it's just an automated voice in which you can't even reach a manager and their voicemail is not accepting any messages. I would rather pay the high rate upfront instead of being misled to think I would be paying a specific rate since I took advantage of a promo . I would not recommend to anyone and if you do purchase an unit from them, make sure to ask them a million questions and make sure they explain it in depth. read more

I been with Cube Smart since 2017 and the staff are great at this location 186-02 Jamaica Avenue. The only problem I have with Cube smart is the Rate Change Notices. I am not sure if any other customers are experience the same situation. I had started with a medium size storage that was in my budgeted $66.30. Thereafter, I received a notice of rate change I believe it was $85.00. I moved to another storage on another floor for $68.00. Thereafter, I received another rate change notice and it increased to $119.00. I contacted the manager in March/2023 it was unsuccessful. No matter how long you are with CubeSmart, pay for your service on time; the manager don't care about that. Its all about money and cubesmart do not give breaks with increase in payments (Rate Change). I moved my personal belongings to another storage on the 1st floor about 5 months ago, know I received another rate change notice from $38.00 to $47.00. I never been late with my monthly payment and always paid on time. I really think the rate change increase is to pay for the workers (check and balance) that's why cubesmart keep increasing the storage fees. I would like like to find out from the Federal Trade Commission if the rate of change is legal the way I am being bill. This is a black community and CubeSmart don't care how much I am being charge and maybe other customers as well. I can't see this happening in Nassau County, Suffolk County and other locations in Queens like Astoria, Woodside, Long Island City and etc. Cube Smart is not consisting with pricing. read more

From the moment that we walked in we were greeted with smiles by Byron, Andre, Janet & Efrain. Andre gave us a tour showing us the various unit sizes and explaining the lease prices and terms. He definitely made us feel comfortable with his friendly and positive attitude answering all of my questions and concerns. My decision to lease a storage space with them was a no brainier based on the amazing customer service provided.
