My friend and I had the Traditional Navajo Taco(s) and his wife had the Sheep's Steak Salad. Everything was delicious. I put the "s" in parentheses because the menu is in plural but it really is just one taco. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.

LOOOVE their food. One thing is that they sometimes forget to write bacon as an ingredient on their board often (I hate bacon), so it gets sneaked in sometimes. Their employees give me weird looks when I ask to hold the bacon (I swear bacon zealots are haters lol!), but they're polite and give excellent food. The other customers are often rude and entitled (example: no one was in line, so I walked right up to the cash register, then a girl came up behind me who had a pickup, I let her cut since she'd ordered already over the phone to be nice, a young rich looking BYU Barbie and Ken couple came up all branded and looking like they'd spent hours on both of their hair in the main line section to the left. I was waiting to the right of the register instead of to the left where the regular line starts so he whined like a child that I'd cut the line, when I'd been there before they entered the store. I just left the line and went behind them to stop his childishness and loud unkindness. I wish the employee that had been working with me had stood up for me, but whiny rich entitled BYU kids man, they get their snotty way or they'll ruin it for everyone. No good deed goes unpunished I guess). read more

I love this place! Absolutely delicious! I've been to many times to count because I just can't get enough of it. Everything I've tried (tri tip sandwhich, drangonslayer, houdini, tetonka, steak salad, bbq and buffalo fires) is seriously to die for. All items are fresh and well made, and it is reflected in the taste. The Rip City steak sandwhich is my go to because it's so full of tender steak and tangy sauce. I have taken so many friends here and all of them fall in love. Even my mom who is a trained chef and food snob loves to come here. Its just so fresh, and so incredible! The only problem is that's it's so busy some night that you have to wait to find a seat, but it's 150% worth it. Cubbies is #1 in my books and first choice whenever I eat out! read more

I saw a man comenup to the cashier and ask for some sauce on his sandwich because they didn't put any on. The lady immediately said bring your sandwich up so I can verify that you don't have any sauce. He asked why she didn't trust him and she said sir bring me the sandwich or no sauce. The guy walked away angry. And employee came up to the girl and said what happens. She told him that the guy didn't bring her the sandwich so she wouldn't give him any sauce. What! The guy cam back with the sandwich. And I watch d this stupid girl manhandle it and say or I guess we can add a little more sauce now. What the heck! Five the people more sauce of they request it! The "Dragon Slayer" is incredible. Seriously one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Cubby's seems to use very fresh ingredients. Nothing tastes overly processed at all. I was also really impressed with the fries here. Just the right amount of crispy, but not overdone. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is neat as well. I love the chalk writings on the menu. The only "beef" (pun intended) I have with Cubby's is that the customer service may have been somewhat sub par, but even then, it wasn't even that bad. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a hearty lunch. read more

If you want an amazing salad... Get the tri tip salad. It's fresh and the steak is deliciously seasoned and tender with the most wonderful dressing. I always add beets, well because beets are so great! If you want a vegetarian option go for the beet and goat cheese salad. Soooo good!! Then you of course need fries. I love a good French fry. The sweet potatoe fries are my favorite. But you can't go wrong with the Rosemary French fries too. Of course with the fry sauce. Loooooove cubbys! Inexpensive for the deliciousness you get. We get cubby's catered for work and the houdini burger has been my favorite. I have been into the restaurant once to get lunch, but I just hate the location. The restaurant seemed cramped. They should have been the ones to move into the restaurant at the village at south campus, because I don't plan on going to the sodalicious thats there now, too often. I think with their model of using local meat, and the chalkboard design they have already adopted, I'm serious they would do so well at the village. Been here twice! First time I got the Original Mr Beef wet boy and was really impressed. Great meat and good flavor. Took my wife there the next time I got the heart attach and it was a good but my wife go one of the apple pecan chicken salad and wasn't to impressed it was a good salad but the spring greens were a little old. There were more than one leaf that she pulled out that was spoiled and she didn't; end up finishing it and she's not a picky eater. I don't think she'll come back :( read more

I would eat at Cubbys everyday if I could!! My husband switches off between 3 burgers but the dragonslayer is his favorite. He could eat buckets of the buffalo bleu cheese fries! I usually get one of their salads without cheese because I am lactose intolerant but their homemade dressings make up for any cheese lost because they are ON POINT. The food is amazing! I wish the customer service was better. I've had my office order from them a couple of times and each time has been a bad experience with their customer service. The staff is not polite and I have yet to speak with someone professional there. Only when I dropped a heavy tip in hopes of them not screwing up our order did the guy on the phone change his tone and become friendly. And still our order was not right. I door dashed my meal so I already knew what I was in for, but that didn't really affect my food that much. What was disappointing was I didn't get my gravy on the side and not only that but did they change their buns for the mr beef?? Skimpy on the beef, giardiniera and a thick pale bun I can get from smiths with nothing to dip it in. The bun was dog$h!+. We absolutely LOVE cubby's! The first time we went we had the Chicago beef...it was just OK. The Tri-Tip sandwich and salad as so so good! The Blue Cheese Fries...They are all around amazing...and I don't like blue cheese! We probably go here on average couple times a month. I walked in, then walked out without ordering. Their menus offers three levels of hot sauce: "Girl, Boy, Man." When I got home I checked to see if this was a chain, perhaps one that started in Mississippi, or perhaps Saudi Arabia. Nope, this appears to be home-bred idiocy. Comparing only that sandwich to other places, I would rather eat at Sensuous Sandwich, Quiznos, Jimmy Johns and even Subway. I'll probably go again and try a different sandwich next time. read more

Cubby's is one of our go-to restaurants in Provo when we want good-quality food fast without feeling like we're paying for a sit-down restaurant meal. The food portions are pretty small. Supposedly this is the exact same chain you can find in Chicago but I'd say mmmm. The food quality definitely isn't what it is like back in the Windy City. It's also a good amount of protein for the calories and there are a lot of vegetables included. My wife gets the classic gyro and it is also very good. The upcharge for a side and a drink being $6 which is highway robbery. $3 for a small drink which they have very limited options for, and $3 for a small side. Not good. What you're getting it's pretty pricey, and it feels like a rip off. For example, the wraps have about half the tortilla wrapped and rolled up inside of itself, not a lot of amount of ingredients for what you're paying for. (See pictures). The wrap by itself is $13.50. The communal sauce bottles were almost empty, the Dr Pepper was absolutely tasteless I drank 2 cups just to get my three dollars worth though lol, but it wasn't worth drinking. We had two pesky flies really bugging us the whole time. Outdoor seating, not shaded but nice. Really cute natural area by the seating out back! The staff were mediocre, no welcome, forgot our drinks we had to ask for them, no explanation of how things work. Lack of cheer. The price feels like we got ripped off hard at almost $50 for two people. It was $42.

When we walked in we were instantly greeted and the guy who take care of us was very helpful and service oriented. He shared with us his favorite items as well as customer favorites which helped us narrow down our choices from the large menu. The food was amazing! I got the hash sandwich which had the perfect crunch, juiciness, and satisfaction while my wife got the Nutella waffle was Rich, savory and delicious! The only complaint was the fries were awful. They felt like I got left over let me finish this batch of fries. Lots were stuck together, they didn't have a crisp soft crunch or taste good. It because I was so satisfied with the bash sandwich I didn't feel dissatisfied. I'd come back but make sure my fries are better.

The restaurant is currently inside and clean and the menu has a good amount of options. You order at the cashier and then they bring you your food to your table.

I was able to park out front pretty easy but backing out onto the busy street was not my favorite thing to do in the dark. There is some parking past the light on the right, I wish I knew that beforehand. The little building is chock full of charm, definitely one of those hole in the wall places that has been around forever. That being said, I didn't find their menu easy to read. It was all over the place and when I looked it up online, it was better but still kind of hard. To order, one of the girls waves you over to one of two windows and takes your order, but doesn't have you pay immediately and when you do get to pay, you don't see the card being charged right in front of you, it's whisked away to the back. So you awkwardly wait around until she calls you over with a very polite "hey you". She will then give you your items one by one as they are ready. So while one person finishes their shake, the next one starts on theirs and if you order fries, it's going to take an extra 30 minutes of waiting out in whatever weather. But they do have white sauce, so that is a point in their favor! I was excited to have my guy try this place and he didn't think it was all that great and I had to agree with him. Our food was fine. The experience was the letdown. Oh and the spoon cut up the sides of my mouth!
