By far the best local boutique in Maine. I have been a frequent customer of theirs for nearly 5 years now. I'm a little surprised I'm the first person to review this store. Located on Fore St next to such family favorites as Granny's Burrito's and Old Port Candy, it's basically a store dedicated to cock jokes. Hence, 5*. The store is relatively small, but boasts an extremely large selection, of, well, condoms. The owner is always there, and will answer your questions seriously without making you feel like a weirdo. The store has condoms in the name, so it's not like people don't know what you're in there for. If you giggle, she doesn't mind, just smiles and points you towards whatever you need. They also have a huge novelty section, which is basically just "Penis ______" where _______ is basically anything that can be manufactured in the shape of a penis. That turns out to be a surprising number of things. The store is a bachelorette party favorite, so I hear told. For serious or silly, it's a fun store to go into. read more

Haven't been to too many "sex shops" to compare this one to others, but I can confidently say that CS Boutique is like none other. It takes the whole sex shop idea and turns it into something quite nice and comfortable and pleasant really... When you walk in, you don't feel the need to be embarrassed or anything, there's always just one clerk and its always a female who is very non-intrusive and polite. Just visited this shop with a friend. Seemed like a nice, small, friendly shop. Not too many options, but just enough. Definitely was hoping to leave with something! Not long into being there, the woman at the counter accused me of "taking pictures." I had just taken my phone out to reply to a text and in the most condescending tone I have experience, started questioning me about taking pictures because it may make others feel uncomfortable (mind you: the shop was empty). Once I replied I was just texting, she took it one step further and said "oh how no one can live without texting these days." Not the type of attitude to have with customers! We immediately felt very uncomfortable and left the store. Definitely lost our business! I would not recommend this place as to it making us feel very uncomfortable in a very private setting. I stuck my head in this store (pun intended) while visiting Portland. They have quite a selection of various items. It had a mixed selection of what I would expect to find in 3 different stores. Their sections are incense, novelty cards, novelty sex gifts, condoms, lubricant, and sex toys. If I lived in the area I would purchase all my birthday cards and gift cards here because I have that sense of humor. The condom selection is intense. There is everything for everyone here when it comes to sizes, flavors, textures, and packages. They have these condom compacts to hold a few condoms discretely in your purse or pocket which I think is a great idea! One thing that made me very happy to see was that they sold lubricant without glycerin. Often personal lubricants contain glycerin (especially the flavored ones) which is basically a sugar. This can be really bad for women and can often cause yeast infections. Most sex toy stores don't offer this option and I was very glad to see it. This store is worth checking out, even if you are shy and will only look at the card section. ;) read more

Great place to stop for bachelorette party essentials. We stocked up on dick straws and a wiener Vail. Unfortunately, my friends and I wanted some more information about a few products in there, but the cashier seemed too busy to help up. Solid 4 stars for CS Boutique. Small store, but super clean, well-lit, not at all awkward layout, has some truly beautiful items of the kind I don't buy (vibrators and such). Definitely a lot of things I would come back for. A nice, small, well curated book section. Movie section was geared towards women and how-to DVDs. Big win for me was the massage oils (they have every kind imaginable)/lubricants/candles section. Lots of gorgeous things. The lingerie section left a lot to be desired but they did have the one thing I came for specifically. Also, the lovely woman working the register was kind enough to point out that I was buying it in too big a size and I should downgrade, and she was 100% right. I trusted her but she opened up the package just to show me for sure and told me some factoids about the company that made it that made it clear to me that she pays attention to business and the way customers feel about products they purchase from her. I don't know if she's the owner but she's the kind of cool, subtly sexy lady I would assume owns this kind of shop. I bet if it were larger and able to carry a wider array of items (I just can't five star a place with a small lingerie section!!) it would be a five star kind of joint. I am not sure what outrageous things you might be looking for but this boutique is hardly a novelty store. If you just peak in and you don't know what you are looking for just ask! the owner usually there to assist is the most knowledgeable in the industry. A progressive indie open experimental, and intelligently gifted female business owner! There are all sorts of options but she wont carry crap...so if you are looking for something within your budget new and exciting this is the web or store to order from. I am a vegan and there are vegan options and non toxic options in condoms lubes and toys...i have many toys and and if i ever need something else to spice things up with my self....i know where to go...there are many partner toys and if you ask you will get a description of how and what and when and where...there are no uncomfortable zones...it feels good to be able to share and learn in a safe non judgemental environment. My favorite store in portland, the staff is amazing and respectful and knows everything!

We found this store to be top notch with a variety of quality items geared for those adults looking to add some spice to their love life. We found the owner to be very friendly, approachable, and extremely knowledgeable about all the items that they carry. The atmosphere is very relaxing, laid back and we felt totally in our comfort zone. Over the course of the past five years that we have visited the store we have purchased several items made by Lelo, Crave, Hitachi and Fun Factory, as well as several New Sensation Romance Stories which are tastefully done. In addition, they carry these great new candles hand made in Maine by Castine Candle Co - we just purchased the lavender bergamont and it smells amazing. We have found all items purchase to be of superior quality and worth every penny. We travel from Massachusetts several times a year on our way to our cabin by the lake and we always pay Nelly (owner) a visit.
