He never answered if he could do it, what he would do, how much it would cost, or if I wanted him to proceed. I would have told him I did not want it soldered on and I certainly would not have agreed to an outrageous fee. We went to the register and he told me it was $50. I felt I had no choice but to pay because I wanted my charm bracelet back and get out of there. Ultimately I was charged $53 plus 3.5% merchant fee. There are too many good, reputable, honest jewelry stores that will treat you with kindness and respect. Do not go here.

We talked about jewelry, the designers & other entertaining subjects. Pasty is wicked nice. She's professional, engaging & enjoyed talking many subjects. She showed the differencs between wholesale & local artists. I bought a cool silver ring which fits perfectly w/ my gold ring as if they were made for each other! I highly recommend Sea Glass Jewelry. Patsy is invested & knowledgeable. Instead of waiting at Alisson's for take out I shopped around Sea Glass. The artists work at Sea glass are unique! I have bags of sea glass likely as old as when I was growing up on Cliff Island. I have many colors lavender,champagne pink, blues, greens, browns especially if they have a cool shape. The best areas are located on the little rocky beach fronts near Griffins Cove & like areas. I'll have to contact Pasty & ask her what's up? I have many unique pieces. Frosted crazy shapes. One color that evades a glass picker are the reds. I'll have to recheck my bag to recheck. I also pick up the incredible cool rocks. I found a beautiful one when I was a wee one. My friend told me it was soap stone. It was the greatest find. I think she planted it knowing I wanted one. It was had a variable greens diamond pattern. the design was similar to a particular snake. i'll have to research which one. I don't know where it is..I still have many things I've collected many moons ago. I may have it in my stash. It would be a great piece to come across. Thanks Patsy for making my stay nicer. I feel like every time I visit, I find something new. The employees I've encountered seem so calm and welcoming: I haven't felt any pressure to hurry up (and ooooh do I like to linger!), or move on, or even buy anything. I've overheard them being helpful and kind to people with questions. It seems the store is stocked with products from small, local artisans; what's not to love about that?! There are tarot readings available by the 15, 30, and 60 minute slot every Saturday; tarot and palmistry on Fridays and Sundays; and, other events happening each month too (be sure to look at their board by the cash register)!

Market Square Jewelers is an excellent estate jewelry shop. The selection of charms and antique…read morerings is far more extensive than can be found anywhere else that I know of. Their inventory shows real skill in selection and many of their items are quite choice. For example, most jewelry stores, new or used, tend to have mostly mediocre low-color milky white opals with just a few nice pieces. Market Square is the reverse: most of their opals are really nice stones, both the whites and the Australians. They obviously know their stuff and weed out the tinsel. There are a lot of unique pieces like insignia rings and unusual pendants. Their online system is excellent and a great way to systematically check the inventory before coming in. The prices here are stiff, but that's what it costs to get a large selection of nice stuff all in one place. If you want cheap jewelry, go to a flea market and sift through the wreckage. Be forewarned that this is an estate jewelry shop. Jewelry services like sizing and things like that are not really their bailiwick.

Unlike other stores of this kind, there was no hard sell here at this shop, and everything seemed to be much better priced than the larger shops in town. We ended up ordering matching Maine gemstone rings to be crafted by Richard, the owner. Can't wait to see the result.
