    Rice Bails with Marinara
    Dan S.

We dined at Crust Artisan Bakery on the recommendation of my mother in law and finding a good Italian restaurant in the area is like finding a needle in a haystack. Well Crust Artisan Bakery is that Needle in the haystack. We walked in and Kim greeted us with a huge smile and took us to our table. You can tell her restaurant means everything to her and providing great food and service to her patrons. There are no menus, so Kim tells you what the menu is that day. Everything sounded so good, so we ended up on the caprese salad, the blue crab appetizer , and the rice balls. Omg everything was so good and had great flavor. For dinner we had the chicken Parmesan, the eggplant , the lamb, and lasagne Bolognese. What I liked about the meal besides how great it was, but the spacing of the meal and appetizers. It allowed us to talk and enjoy our friend's company that we don't see often. Everyone devoured our meals. We all tried each others and couldn't believe how good it was. Kim you have a great team working for you and your food has so much love in it. The chicken Parmesan crust had nice crunch and was not greasy at all. The toughest critic at our table who is a vegetarian always says the food is average, so when I asked him how his meal was he said it was outstanding. Kim you did good!!! I can't wait to take my friends here early next year when we return. If you want to get a table a reservation I would say is a very good to have. Can't wait to come back!!

    Sunday Gravy over spaghetti

This place has a ton of great reviews so by all means give it a try. With that said we were just underwhelmed. We had manicotti, gnocchi with marinara, and the Sunday gravy. It was all just a little bland and in the sun gravy the meatballs were a bit chewy. Also, when the mini says meat sauce, it truly means meat sauce I had hunks of I'm not sure what in the Sunday gravy when I was just expecting maybe a ground beef and or sausage. The servings were very generous. I'm not sure if the French bread was made in house, but it was really cold. Maybe due to storage in the kitchen. The rice balls were very good, I would definitely recommend getting those. The interior is a little unusual with patio furniture and a full view to the kitchen. It's a small space to work with so I understand. By far the name of the restaurant is the most confusing as their menu does not include pizza currently even though online it states something differently. And I'm not sure why it's called a bakery, but it's really an Italian restaurant. Local seem to love it so like I said, give it a try, the owner is very very nice. Service was only slow because she really handled all tables in indoors and out so be patient but the food did come out quickly.

Crab cakes!!! Best one I have ever had!!!

The food was wonderful as usual!! We went outside for the first time and it was nice with the fans blowing. Kim was delightful as always and the waiter kept our table clean. Took my daughter and granddaughter for the first time and they loved it.

    Seafood bowl

You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. I usually go for the lasagna, but since it's Lent, I opted for the seafood bowl--and it did not disappoint. The grouper was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful in every bite. This place is a true hidden gem, and we make it a point to stop by every time we're in the area. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out! * started to eat before taking pictures lol*

Our server, Sercan, was absolutely amazing--friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience even better. I ordered the pasta special, and you could immediately tell the pasta was homemade. It was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We also shared the Margherita pizza, and it was hands down one of the best I've had. The crust was delicious, and every bite tasted fresh. The complimentary bread was a great way to start the meal, and the garlic knots with butter were incredible--I definitely recommend ordering those! For dessert, we tried the bread pudding and the tiramisu. The bread pudding wasn't quite as good as the ones I've had in Louisiana, but it was still enjoyable. The tiramisu had a strong coffee flavor, which I personally enjoyed, and it was a great way to end the meal. Overall, this restaurant exceeded my expectations. Between the fresh, homemade food, excellent service from Sercan, and welcoming atmosphere, I'll definitely be back. If you're looking for authentic Italian food in Santa Rosa, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

We felt very under dressed for this restaurant but, you wouldn't know it based on how we were treated. We were kindly greeted at the door and offered a table right away. We opted to sit at the bar because we were in a hurry wanted to place a to-go order for a pizza. Our bartender was very kind and accommodating, He answered all of our questions and made recommendations. All of the pizza offerings looked fantastic. We settled on the Calzone Genovese, even though this was a calzone there was no problem making it into a pizza. The wood fire pizza oven was in the center of the restaurant, so we were able to watch them make our pizza. It had ricotta cheese, mushrooms, pesto, and caramelized onions. It was very good and a nice change from a pizza with classic red sauce. The pizza crust had a good amount of char on the bottom with just the right amount of thickness. I would recommend Mimmo's to anyone and will definitely return if I am ever back in Destin.

We liked the house bread better Gnocchi with lobster- 5 stars, absolutely delicious. I was nervous about the lobster. But it was cooked perfectly in the dish. Gnocchi melted in your mouth. Loved this Pasta lobster dish - 5 stars, also absolutely delicious. Perfect cook on the lobster, house made pasta, just wonderful. Tiramisu - 3 stars, it was delicious, only complaint was the lady fingers were not soaked in coffee. And they placed chocolate syrup on it, not sure why. Bread pudding - 2 stars, it's not traditional bread pudding. It came out in slice of cake form. The ratio to Carmel bourbon syrup was way off. It was more apple spice cake than bread pudding in my opinion. We would definitely go back for the pasta and house bread, while skipping apps and desserts. We would recommend this place for pasta!

The calamari was great! It featured banana peppers and a spicy dipping sauce. I enjoyed the crunch and texture of the calamari and would definitely recommend it. The chicken parmigiana was ok. It was like any chicken parm I've ever had but also lacked seasoning. It could've used some salt, pepper, garlic, etc. Overall we had a great dining experience. There was no wait. Service was quick and friendly. We also enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the atmosphere. I think many of the bad reviews come from visitors that expect fast, curated, and cheap dining experiences. I think more grace should be given for local restaurants during peak seasons. We will be back and hopefully will get to enjoy the happy hour in the future!

What surprised me most was the restaurant's refusal to let guests join a waitlist from their phone. In 2026, it feels incredibly outdated that you have to physically show up, be told the wait is close to an hour, and then either stand around in the Florida heat and humidity or hope you have somewhere else to go until your table is ready. It seems to lack an awareness of the overall guest experience. Many restaurants now allow you to join a waitlist online or through an app, making the wait far more convenient. This shopping center also doesn't offer much to do in the evenings, so asking guests to linger there for an hour feels especially inconvenient. By 5:15 p.m., we were already quoted nearly an hour wait for an indoor table. Fortunately, we had driven instead of riding our bikes, so we were able to run to the grocery store, unload our groceries at the condo, and return just in time. Had we been on bikes--as many visitors in the area are--we likely would have spent that entire hour simply waiting outside. Once inside, I couldn't help but notice the layout. There's a very large bar that sat mostly empty during our visit, along with another counter occupied by kitchen equipment that takes up a significant amount of floor space. It feels like the restaurant sacrifices a substantial amount of seating, which may contribute to the consistently long waits. They do offer tables in the breezeway, but I specifically requested indoor seating. After spending the entire day at the beach and pool, the last thing I wanted was to eat dinner in the same heat and humidity. There is a powerful fan outside, but it mostly circulates warm air. It's certainly better than no fan at all, but it doesn't make outdoor dining particularly comfortable during a Florida summer evening. The seating itself also wasn't very comfortable. The metal chairs have no cushions, and if you're wearing shorts or a skirt, they tend to get sticky and uncomfortable fairly quickly. The service was fine overall, but there were a few small misses that stood out because the experience had already started on a frustrating note. My Diet Coke was refilled several times, while my husband's water never was, which we found odd. I had also requested that my pizza be served without the drizzle on top, but it arrived with it anyway. Neither issue was a major problem on its own, but after the hassle of simply getting on the waitlist, there wasn't much room left for service mistakes. The food absolutely deserves praise--it was delicious, and we'd happily order it again. But the overall experience feels unnecessarily difficult. In 2026, it's hard to understand why this restaurant, and its affiliated restaurants, don't offer an online or mobile waitlist. That one change alone would dramatically improve the guest experience and make an already popular restaurant much easier to enjoy.

Our server was professional and clearly doing everything she could, but she was assigned several large tables and was completely overwhelmed. It was obvious she needed help, yet no one stepped in to support her. As a result, we waited at least an hour and a half for our dinners. To make matters worse, our bill included a charge that shouldn't have been there. When we politely spoke with management about our experience, we weren't looking to get anyone in trouble--we simply wanted them to understand what had happened and make it right. Instead of addressing the excessive wait or the billing error in a meaningful way, management instructed our server to remove her gratuity from the bill rather than taking responsibility themselves. That response said everything. The problems we experienced were clearly management issues, not our server's. She worked hard under impossible circumstances and deserved support, not to have her tip used as the solution. We made things right for our server, and stressed to her that this was not her fault. The kitchen produces great food, and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. Unfortunately, poor management overshadowed what could have been a great dining experience. I hope they invest more in supporting their staff and taking ownership when things go wrong.
