Still love your personal touch on recommendations! Ordered the calamari for appetizer which was one of the best we have ever had!! Exceptional. So many new choices.. We already made reservations to return with our entire family! Here are a few pictures to drool over! The grouper piccata was exceptional over pasta with a delicious caper sauce. Of course my hubby got his favorite.. the famous ciopinno ( the best of the sea in a bowl, grouper, jumbo shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops and calamari!!) THE BEST EXPERIENCE! Trust me, I'm not easily impressed by restaurant food, but the food we had here was incredible and super high quality. We ordered the Crab Cake, Manicotti, Eggplant Rollatini and Cioppino. Every single dish was constructed of high quality ingredients and expertly crafted. The yum factor was off the charts! Nothing was faux or "trying to hard" fancy, it was authentically delicious and amazing. Just beautifully prepared with delicious flavors and presented with class. We left almost "stunned" by our experience. We will definitely be returning (soon) for those Lambchops we saw heading to another table...and to try more items on the menu. One of a kind in so many ways! Crust is one of those special places that, simply, rewards those who go looking for it. My imagination begs that its location is intentional, far from the walk-by-and-stumble-in places made for 30A tourists, but tucked in the far corner of a small office park rewarding those who seek to find (it is next to Good News Church, after all!). Kim's team is moving quickly and intentionally, yet nothing seems rushed. The seating is like many people's homes: quirky but special in a way that makes it their home. The menu is like home too, in that it's delivered orally (wait, I was just getting used to QR codes and reading zooming in on my phone!). Kim comes to the table with an easy delivery, one that's straight-forward and metered and quaintly poetic. She doesn't mention the price - just the prize - but fear not: the meals are reasonable and fair, and nobody's getting ripped off (but if you need to see a menu and a price, head to every other place and leave the rest of us to our meals). We started with the risotto balls and the blue crab lump salad, the latter paired with the fatty avocado and tart slices of grapefruit. We then main'ed with the risotto (light, doughy, and tasty in the meat sauce option) and 'Sunday Gravy' (ziti noodles with red sauce, meatballs, sausage, and a chicken cutlet). We left satisfied " not blown away, but satisfied. We were told the sauces were spicy, but I'd say more acidic than spicy. Flavor seemed to be a notch lower than we'd expected (even just a bit more salt might help?), but nothing that would keep me away in the future. The middle of some of the gnocchi wasn't as warm as you'd want... perhaps just the realities of being at the end of a busy Friday night? This place has a ton of great reviews so by all means give it a try. With that said we were just underwhelmed. We had manicotti, gnocchi with marinara, and the Sunday gravy. It was all just a little bland and in the sun gravy the meatballs were a bit chewy. Also, when the mini says meat sauce, it truly means meat sauce I had hunks of I'm not sure what in the Sunday gravy when I was just expecting maybe a ground beef and or sausage. The servings were very generous. I'm not sure if the French bread was made in house, but it was really cold. Maybe due to storage in the kitchen. The rice balls were very good, I would definitely recommend getting those. The interior is a little unusual with patio furniture and a full view to the kitchen. It's a small space to work with so I understand. By far the name of the restaurant is the most confusing as their menu does not include pizza currently even though online it states something differently. And I'm not sure why it's called a bakery, but it's really an Italian restaurant. Local seem to love it so like I said, give it a try, the owner is very very nice. We dined at Crust Artisan Bakery on the recommendation of my mother in law and finding a good Italian restaurant in the area is like finding a needle in a haystack. Well Crust Artisan Bakery is that Needle in the haystack. We walked in and Kim greeted us with a huge smile and took us to our table. You can tell her restaurant means everything to her and providing great food and service to her patrons. There are no menus, so Kim tells you what the menu is that day. Everything sounded so good, so we ended up on the caprese salad, the blue crab appetizer , and the rice balls. Omg everything was so good and had great flavor. For dinner we had the chicken Parmesan, the eggplant , the lamb, and lasagne Bolognese. What I liked about the meal besides how great it was, but the spacing of the meal and appetizers. It allowed us to talk and enjoy our friend's company that we don't see often. Everyone devoured our meals. We all tried each others and couldn't believe how good it was. Kim you have a great team working for you and your food has so much love in it. The chicken Parmesan crust had nice crunch and was not greasy at all. The toughest critic at our table who is a vegetarian always says the food is average, so when I asked him how his meal was he said it was outstanding. Kim you did good!!! Absolutely the best restaurant in the San Destin area. The owner is super sweet and does a menu from her head everyday. This is a byob restaurant that everyone should look up to. We had dinner at Crust last night, and found it to be an excellent experience. We ordered a couple of appetizers (the arancini and crab cakes) which were generous in size and very good. For the main course, we had the seafood pasta and the Italian sausage and meatballs with ziti. Our friends ordered the gnocchi and lamb chops. The food was truly terrific but what really stood out was Kim, the owner and manager. She personally took our order and served us - and treated us with warmth and genuine hospitality that is so rare to find these days. We dined here for the first time tonight, and it certainly won't be our last. The food was beautifully done, we had the crabcake appetizer, the grilled salmon over sautéed spinach, and the cioppino. I have had cioppino at a number of restaurants over the years, and this was by far my favorite. The marinara was zesty as described by Kim, and the seafood was plentiful, fresh and beautifully prepared. The desserts were delicious. Also, they allow you to bring your own wine for a $10 corkage, this makes for a very, very memorable meal. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

Kim is a doll. We have been trying to come here for the longest time without reservations and she made sure to get us in and treat us very well. The food here is very good! I don't remember the name, but it was like frutti di mar with red sauce. Loaded with seafood in a pasta with red sauce. My wife got the manicotti with red sauce and she enjoyed her meal as well. Finally found my favorite Italian on 30A. This is a hidden gem--just the way I like it. Unpretentious, small restaurant where by the end of the night there's no strangers amongst us. You can comfortably ask your neighbor to peek at their food, and everyone sings happy birthday. It feels like being back in Italy! And then you taste the food! The caprese salad was spot on. It's not even on the menu unless they get some properly good tomatoes--as it should be. Finest moz, oil, and balsamic glaze. You'll want to dip your bread in every last drop. On to the lasagna. Most authentic I've had outside of Italy. It's not heavy with thick noodles and loaded cheese, American style. No, this is delicate with thin homemade pasta, a complex sauce, light bechamel...so delicious you'll dream about it and you'll actually have room for dessert. My favorite was the lemon mascarpone, and usually I'm a chocolate person. But it was so light and refreshing and delicious. The mascarpone gave it weight and satisfaction... I'll definitely be back many times. So don't make me regret this review--I need a table! read more

I was in a group of approximately 18 customers when we went to Crust for dinner. Due to the large group we were seated on the concrete block patio. Tables were covered with brown paper, not a linen in sight. The owner, Kim, proceeded to recite the specials in detail, but did not add prices. After finishing our meal, we received a handwritten bill. Later that evening, I noticed that the bill was significantly higher than the menu prices. I was charged $24 for my meal of ziti but the online menu listed this as $20. My wife had chicken parmigian for which I was charged $28. The online menu listed the price at $19. While looking for a place to have dinner, we randomly came across Crust Artisan Bakery, and we were glad we did. They normally take reservations but were able to seat us promptly. The staff was attentive, and the menu had several good options between the appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Interestingly, the menu is delivered verbally. It's a unique experience. The food: very good. I had the lasagna, which was some of the best I have ever had at a restaurant. Something about the noodles made it rise above other lasagna. My wife had the gnocchi, which was tasty, and came with a somewhat spicy sauce. My boys ordered chicken parmesan, which was very good as well. The portion sizes were generous, and we all had food to take home for later. For dessert, we split a slice of the dark chocolate torte. Two weeks ago, our friends confirmed that we would have a party of six inside, not on the patio. Upon arrival, we handed Kim flowers. We were then promptly told that we would not be able to sit inside due to other reservations. Confused and slightly annoyed, we went outside and were seated at another table. While heading outside, Kim said, 'Hey, at least you're here, you got in Crust.' An odd thing to say for a bakery--like it's a hot nightclub or something. Whatever, we went outside as we were told. After we got seated, Kim informed us that we would need to move yet again. At this point, we decided that Kim and the Crust team could care less about our business or Saturday night plans and chose to leave. While walking out, we heard Kim say, 'Thanks for the flowers.'" What a great hidden gem! Apparently this place has been here for 14 years but the locals keep it under wraps lol so the restaurant is mainly a wholesale bakery with an Italian cafe. It literally was awkward to walk through the kitchen avoiding running into staff and walking past plates prepared for customers. The food was good but terribly overpriced with no ambience. The owner was kind. No printed menu and she verbally tells you the menu and we should have asked the cost of the dishes we ordered. $42 for a piece of grouper with no sides? We were definitely sticker shocked with the bill. I would not recommend mainly because of the cleanliness and design of the restaurant. I don't want to write this review, mostly because I want to keep Crust as a secret but I guess that's not the spirit of Yelp so here we go. Invited by friends who are regulars and filled us in ahead of time so we weren't surprised by anything. First thing to understand is this restaurant is all about the quintessential essence of dining, family and friends and none of the other junk or pretentiousness. Located in a retail end cap right off of 98, I'm guessing eight indoor tables and twelve outdoor, the build out and space reminds me of Grandma's house, nothing super snazzy or cutting edge but every inch of space is loved and has a useful purpose. A cat bed sits just outside the front door and fits the vibe perfectly. We sat at the "kitchen table" which is literally just feet away from the cooking and heart of the place, could not have found a better spot. I don't believe I've ever been at a restaurant where there is no written menu and no listed prices. The owner runs down the menu by memory and describes the ingredients of every delicious dish from appetizers to the main course and on to deserts. She is passionate to the point of amusing but by the end of the meal all makes sense. The food is coastal Italian and it's a lot of fun deciding what sounds best after hearing the next option, runs from lasagna, chicken parmesan, veal, lamb and a seafood pasta dish aptly described as "bounty of the ocean". Portions are large and every dish was delicious but the real beauty of this restaurant is the passion, trust and love that goes into every meal. The staff is unbelievable in their efficiency, organization and ability to work together seamlessly, never a curt word or sideways glance. The food is delivered quickly but the meal will drag on because you won't want to leave. This is exactly what dining should be about, no more and no less. The bill came on a hand written check and you'll be glad you trusted and didn't worry about a single thing. Call ahead for reservations or you won't get in, it's bring your own beer, wine or alcohol which I really enjoy, gives you a chance to bring your favorite bottle served with exceptional food. I'm usually stingy with five star reviews, but this one is more than deserved. The staff went way out of their way to help me, even when they were very busy. More importantly, their pastries are pretty amazing. They are light, fluffy and full of flavor. My son loved the cruffin with bacon and that cinnamon roll did it for me. The orange zest was unexpected and added to the flavor. On top of that, they take reservations and it's BYOB. My suggestion is to book early as they fill up fast. We came here with a really large group, I think about 16 people? My family was in town for a family reunion and they tasked me with finding a place where we could make a reservation for a large group of people. At first, I called two other places because although this place had great reviews, the fact that it was called a "bakery" made me think it focused more on pastries rather than actual food. Finally, I called this place and was so happy that they were willing to accommodate our large group. However, we could only be seated on the patio. That ended up being fine, except for the mosquitoes! They were very considerate and brought bug spray, but I still got bit a few times. They also requested that we order from the family menu (where everyone gets served the same food family style). Some in my group were reluctant, but in the end they were so happy we agreed. You get a TON of food for your money and it's also extremely high quality food. My family literally had leftovers from every single course that they served us. Also, they were willing to make a substitution on the entree for me since I can't eat dairy, that was very nice! My family is so critical and super hard to please, but they had nothing but good things to say about the food here. First, for the caprese appetizer everyone was in love with the flavorful tomatoes they used. They thought the gnocchi was so rich and delicious. Everything was super well-made and impressive. I ate the shrimp diablo pasta instead of the normal entree of chicken parmesan. My pasta was really tasty, a good amount of spicy, and included so many shrimp! No way could I have eaten all those huge shrimp myself, I shared them with my family. Overall, would not hesitate to recommend this place. You will not be disappointed!
