One of the best gluten free cakes I've ever had. Strawberry gluten free. Would definitely recommend. I have celiac disease.
The cupcakes were so delicious! Place is nicely decorated and welcoming atmosphere. We would love to go back there everyday only if we don't care about our weight!
Cakes were delicious and they were super easy to work with. We contacted them two days before we arrived into town and pre-ordered :)
My kids loved these cupcakes! And they're not small, haha! We basically got every flavor except for the seasonal, lemon, and strawberry. The cake is light and the icing is a bit rich, but the ratio is good. I might go grab a few more today!
BUYER BEWARE!! This business took $156 from us for a custom birthday cake, ordered 1 month in advance!! We call ahead to pick up our cake. No answer. We drive to the business to find NO PEOPLE & NO CAKE. The business was closed. No phone call until 5 days later! The owner gave an incredibly convoluted "circle speak" story about her sister owner seller / financing to some guy named Jason who ran the business into the ground, now the sister is having to take the business back, but they aren't refunding money. HMMMMM!! I disputed through my credit card company. Bottom line - BUYER BEWARE!
They did a beautiful job for my momma's 60th bday cake! It was also delicious and they were so nice to work with over the phone since we live in Indiana and were there for vacation! Thank you so much for your hard work! It was well appreciated and enjoyed!

Wowza! This was a hit! I went in to grab a few for the kiddo and she said it was delicious! We got the peanut butter, lemon, strawberry and cookies and cream. She had the cookies and cream and said it's so good! I had a bite and most admit it was incredibly moist and the buttercream icing with the marshmallow filling was not overly sweet. I was completely ready to have another recite but she was locked in on it and beat me to the punch. Guess we will go back. I would say get a half dozen if you want to share.
Wedding Cake Disaster !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been a special events planner/coordinator for over 22 years. I have worked with vendors of small mom and pop businesses to high end vendors. This is the first and last time I will use this business. The couple saved for 2 years to make this event happen for themselves. They chose Destin and its vendors over numerous other options. They ordered the wedding cake from Smallcakes and because it was close to the venue, chose to pick it up. The groom personally went to pick up the cake. He wanted to make sure it would be on time for his wife to be. He arrived and the baker told him the cake would be secured and how to care for it during transport. He followed the directions exactly and carefully drove to the venue. With the help of his friends, they unloaded the cake and delivered it to the ballroom. He opened the box and watched it fall apart. I was attending to other details and quickly ran over to help. (see attached photos) I requested the head chef of the venue to examine the mess and give me his professional opinion. Immediately he identified the issue that caused the cake to self destruct. The person that put it together used hollow straws to hold up too much weight on the layers. He advised this is not the correct method and should have been assembeled with wooden dowles for stability. I was swamped with other things that needed my attention and asked the chef to call the bakery on my behalf to see how they could make this right. He made contact with the Owner/Baker and was berated with a less than professional attitude. She pushed him to his professional limits and he was forced to terminate the conversation. She finally called me back and started with the same condesending attitude she gave the chef. I immediately knew why he treminated the conversation. I did my best to calm her and keep her on track to find a solution to this problem. I asked her if she could fix it, she said no, not enough time. I asked her for a refund so I can run to the grocery store and buy some cakes and make something happen. She only offered a small discount that would not have made a dent into helping the situation. I have never been subjected to an owner or business operator that refused to make things right. When I make a mistake, I fix it.

We got a birthday cake for our son last year with whipped icing and it was sooooo yummy so we decided to do the same this year. I had my own toppers and I didn't take a picture prior to me adding the toppers onto the cake. Nonetheless, the cake was just as amazing as it was last year! I messed up the application of the creepers on the top of the cake but that was my own fault. The cake was beautiful! And it ended up being the perfect cake! was getting food next door this place caught my eye so went for a sweet treat! Was greeted by staff maybe owner very kindly and I just got their red velvet cupcake. Packaging is cute and cupcake was very good! read more

This place seems to be quite renowned with various awards through Food Network and voted the best in the area, and I can see why. These cupcakes are the best! I haven't had such delicious cupcakes since those at The Cupcake Collection in Nashville. They are moist and are nicely flavored. The attendant was very friendly and advised that it is much cheaper to by a dozen or half a dozen instead of 2-3 cupcakes at a time. All flavors were delicious. I think the carrot cake is likely my favorite, but I simply love carrot cake. I highly recommend them if you are in the Destin, FL, area and want a sweet treat. You will not be disappointed. read more

So with my family and once you walked in the store you could smell the cupcakes, which was refreshing. The lady at the counter greeted us the moment we walked in. So we got the half dozen box, and the cupcakes were hard to choose from. But the Kentucky bourbon and the cookies and cream was amazing, also they're stuffed inside, adding the sweet flavor, the cupcake was soft and melts in your mouth. I reached out to request a replica of our wedding cake topper about a week prior to our anniversary trip to Destin. Haven and her team were INSTRUMENTAL in arranging such a special surprise for my husband. I will eternally be grateful for their above and beyond service and they absolutely nailed it. We were visiting from Texas and got some cupcake here for my birthday and they are waking amazing! I have not found a cupcake back home as moist as these! I'm begging my husband to let me take some back home to my clinic so they can also have a piece of Heaven!! read more
Had the most fabulous experience with Smallcakes Destin! I contacted them several months ago about cupcakes for my besties wedding reception. They were quick with their responses to any & all questions I had. The Harry Potter themed cupcakes were not only beautifully decorated but tasted absolutely amazing!! Down here in the heat of the Emerald Coast, it's hard to find somewhere to satisfy your sweet tooth without running into frozen yogurt. Smallcakes is a nice change of pace. The food junkie in me LOVES the insane flavors as well as the incredible texture. They have tables so you can sit and eat if you like, but the dynamic of the place is more of a "take it on the run" kind of feel. They have a cooler with drinks and a flat screen television, as well. The staff is attentive, positive and helpful with the flavors. Speaking of, they rotate their specials daily, with tastes like Key Lime, Boston Cream Pie and Maple Bacon. Cupcakes come in three sizes, the in-house being the largest, but if you need to special order for specific events, they come in small and mini sizes, as well. Smallcakes also does...not so small cakes, and brownies as well. In addition, you can buy their cupcakes mixes and have them shipped to you, friends, family, etc. Now you have no excuse not to try them. They even have...*gack*...gluten free. read more

This place was so cute!! Between our family we tried Birthday Cake, pink vanilla, Oreo and peanut butter cup...all being delicious!! The chocolate was very rich, but the cupcakes were moist!! So good, my favorite was the birthday cake cupcake!! Easy to find on the main strip as well! read more

I was searching for a place to get something sweet for my husband's birthday during our vacation and saw that Destin has a Smallcakes so I had to make a visit. Living in Atlanta, unofficial cupcake capital, we are used to a wide variety of cupcake stores including Smallcakes. However, I haven't had a chance to visit them. My husband got a carrot cake, I got a german chocolate (based off the server's recommendation) and the boys got a birthday cake. Mine was good, I've had better but I'm very critical of german chocolate since I was young. The cake was not as light as I would have liked it but it was not extra dense like some are. Hubby said his was good which was a good sign since it was in the fridge for 2 days (he got sick the day we got them and didn't feel better until 2 days later). Of course, the boys loved their Daddy's birthday cake! :) All in all, I will try them again if I'm in the area of one here in Atlanta. However, I would not make any special trips to one. read more

Okay - who doesn't love a cupcake? I think that Small Cakes was brilliant, in bringing handheld desserts to Destin. They just opened, when we went in December - I was excited to visit! We got a variety - lemon, hostess cupcake, carrot cake, peanut butter cup, cookies and cream and double chocolate. My favorite was the lemon! Of course, my boys' favorites were the chocolate ones. :) These little cakes aren't cheap but...gourmet cupcakes aren't cheap to make. (and, I don't have to do it = perfect!) I have a feeling that this will be one hopping place, during it's first summer season. read more
