I got here about 10 minutes or more after closing. New to the area I decided to peer through the window anyway. The proprietor who was in her car ready to leave after an early morning popped her head out and asked " can I help you?" I said I knew the place was closed but was investigating for the next time. She then asked what I was looking for... a bday cake for my son for a little celebration. She the offered to open the store and show me a little pie cake she'd whipped up from left over batter that morning. A test run she said. I bought it! It was delicious and fresh. I am from out of state and wanted a cake for my husband while he celebrated his birthday in Florida. I saw the reviews of Cakemasters and thought it would be a great place from which to order one, a German Chocolate one, specifically. Not being super knowledgeable about the area's geography, I found out on the pickup day that the bakery was almost an hour and a half from where we were staying with some bad traffic in Destin. I was cursing my gaffe...until I got the cake. It was wonderful! Lisa baked it that morning and it was so delicious, everyone in the family was raving about how it was one of the best tasting cakes they'd ever had. I did have to add a relative's name to the cake after I picked it up, so please note the picture attached is NOT how she gave it to us. My wife and I got married on September 12, 2020 in Santa Rosa Beach Florida and we ordered our wedding cake from Cakemaster's Bakery II. We chose the almond cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing. Our cake not only tasted amazing, but was also so beautiful. The cake was a white to blue ombre color with gold ribbon at the base. The staff was extremely helpful speaking with me over the phone as my wife and I are from out of state and weren't able to sample cakes before our wedding. We could not have made a better choice. I am sorry that it took me a year to write this review. Anyone needing a cake in this area, please check them out. You will not be disappointed. P. S. -My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary yesterday, September 12, 2021. We followed the instructions that the bakery gave to us as to how to freeze the top portion of our cake, to be enjoyed again on our one year anniversary. My husband and I decided to do a destination wedding in Destin. We are from Ohio and had to make a few trips to Destin to get all our planning together. I went to a few bakeries and already had in my head what I wanted and a picture of a similar one. We found Cake Masters and talked to the sweet lady who owned the bakery. Did a few cake samples and decided yes we want her to do the cake. We chose a strawberry cake for the bottom layer and a vanilla for the top. We also had her make 12 chocolate cupcakes. I delivered the real starfishes and real shells on a trip down to finalize all are plans. I didn't want edible ones, they did say they could make them it I changed my mind. I was worried about the color or how it would turn out. It was delivered to our outdoor venue that was located on the beach. I didn't see it until that day and at our reception. They nailed it! Exactly what I wanted. Even know it was a dark icing, it was delicious. The cake was moist and tasted wonderful. Thank you so much for completing our special day. I loved it! Beachy but simple. We originally were going to get married in Destin but due to covid we ended up changing our wedding and had our first anniversary trip there. We met with Lisa in person to discuss the cake options and try flavors. She was a joy to work with and so down to earth. We finalized planning by phone and text which was just as easy. I'm giving a 5-star review based on the MANY experiences I had at Cakemaster's before the tragedy of their recent move. I am in Fort Walton Beach regularly, but I don't live there, and I don't think I've EVER not gone to Cakemaster's at least once. The sweets are outstanding. The donuts are the best things here. I get a Long John every time. The apple fritter is heaven. Once I got there close to closing time and they gave me a box of glazed donuts for next to nothing and that's exactly how much was left when we got back to the condo. The cannolis and eclairs are also great. The Boston Cream Pie was my dad's favorite. Their cakes and cookies look divine, but I've not tried them all. The people are always super friendly, too, which is important in a small bakery. They are warm and welcoming, really value their customers. They went through some unfortunate events that left them homeless until recently. I was anxious to go back, but the new location isn't as big? Not as much storage? They didn't have any donuts, and the cupcake I tried was not as fresh-tasting as I was accustomed to with Cakemaster's. I hope it was an exception and not the new norm. We visited 2 years ago and learned this year, the business had moved and downsized. They don't do donuts anymore, but I will say, theirs was the best! Lovely little bakery for sweets and treats. Here's what you need to know about Cakemaster's, my wife and I got an eclair and a cannoli to share. One of us (not naming names) ate more than their half. It led to one of the biggest fights of our marriage. #notjoking Nice little store, very friendly staff. It smells incredible inside, I have to drag my wife out. Prices are very fair. I was not impressed by their French bread. It had a thick dry crust, soft crumb, and a very fine hole structure. It reminded me more of an overcooked Chicago-Italian bread than a French Batard. But bread doesn't seem to be their specialty. If it was "Breadmasters" I'd judge them more harshly on that. All of the sweets we've tried have been superb. The menu offers 10 chef inspired sandwiches or create your own Snack Attack. Enjoy fresh baked, hand-crafted breads with Boar's Head meats & cheeses topped with crisp veggies and a delectable selection of home-made dressings. The panini grill just seals the deal! Our favorites to date are 1) The Cuban 2) The California 3) a Snack Attack w/seeded hard-roll, German butter cheese and Boar's Head hard salami. All sandwiches come with a paper wrapped pickle, chips or potato salad. Said potato salad reminds me of Long Board Larry's. It's a sour cream and bacon variety that's pretty tasty. I can't wait to try The Panhandle Riviera which consists of asparagus tips, brie, and smoked turkey piled on a tarragon buttered French baguette then toasted in the beloved panini grill. After that maybe we'll venture to the Arthichoke & Proscuitto or perhaps the chicken Mediterranean? Thursdays equates to rye-baking day. In addition to the regular baked goods they also make the famous light and dark, German rye breads and the savory, salt and caraway pretzels. Judging by the name alone, I knew this would be my kind of place but then they put a sign out front advertising Cuban sandwiches and I had to go. First of all, the place just smells really good. (There was a pitiful lack of bakeries in Oklahoma.) Everything looked really good too and I almost rethought what I was about to order. This is a great little local non-chain bakery. They offer a variety of pastries which are delicious and, obviously, cakes. I just stopped by for an AM pick-me-up and got a cinnamon twist donut and an almond danish. Both were delicious! The cinnamon twist had a slight chewiness to it which I liked. The danish was excellent. Price-wise they aren't a super deal but it's probably worth it to pay a few cents more for fresh pastries than save a bit at D&Ds. read more

In the U.S. this is the best German bakery I've come across, after Germany. I'm temporarily not living in the Northwest Panhandle, but whenever I visit the panhandle, my first stop is the Cakemaster's Bakery. This is so far the best bakery I found in the U.S. I was surprised when I learned that they moved. However, I found where they're at now. Best carrot cake in the world! And I am a very picky eater, okay?!?! These nice people made me a last minute carrot cake with cream cheese icing for my parents 35th anniversary in 24 hours. I appreciated that so much and it was absolutely amazing and they even told me how to keep it until the gathering that evening. It was so gorgeous and the cake was moist. The cake I got my girlfriend a year ago looked awesome and it tasted great. I asked for a cat cake design since my girlfriend is a crazy catlady and the results looked colorful and on point. My husband ordered a cake for my birthday as we were in Fort Walton on vacation. Our entire family was so disappointed with this cake :( It was very heavy and soggy, I don't even know how they kept it together to ice it. This is a real bakery! Great selection of pastries, cakes, pies, and cookies. This is where the locals get their baked goods and it's easy to see why.
