I found this little place by accident! I took home several items. They said they make everything. My haul included a slice of German Chocolate Cake. I can make this and found their cake to be too dense. I sampled carrot bread and tasted carrots, but immediately needed a glass of milk!! It was dry. The best thing I ever tasted was the chocolate walnut pie!! Hello!!! It was 5.95 a slice and I was in Heaven; I love, love fudge! This was sooo fudgy my heart was melting with joy!! Reminded me of the fudge I make around the holidays. Other reviews mentioned various foods, I have no idea about those. Not sure what has happened to our wonderful Sugarmill Sweets. There is a decline in food quality, ambiance, and service. They have switched to disposable dinner ware. This happened some time after Covid and never went back to regular service. Last two visits they were short of staff leaving one waitress who worked so hard to make everyone happy but this also left me very uncomfortable. The food has changed and tastes like something is missing. So sad . Hopefully this is temporary. I love this place and the people that own it. read more

Was ignored for about 5 minutes so I asked if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. The guy at the register said to grab a vacant seat. We had 4 so we were trying to find two tables close together. The waitress came as asked how many we had and I said 7. She then told me I was supposed to check in with the guy up front. I told her I did and he said to find vacant tables. SHe acted upset that we sat down before the table was wiped. We had a table for 4 and one for 2 so we asked if we could bring chair to one of the tables, she said no as it would block a walkway, though there was no walkway between our table and the two top. About then another 4 top opened so the 3 moved to it. She got huffy with us and said that they could not be put together, we said that was ok. After a while we were brought menus. I ordered the turkey sandwich with no mayo. when it came it had lots of mayo. She told me I did not ask for no mayo, but the others at the table told her I did. When the sandwich came out the second time it did not have mayo but also did not have the cheese it was supposed to. I did not think much about it until my ticket came and noticed it said no cheese, no mayo. Do not know where she got the no cheese from. We were never offered refills on our drinks or if we wanted a dessert etc. She brought our tickets and left. After a bit we figured we had to go to the register to pay. There was no one at the register so we waited for almost 5 minutes before the guy came to the register. I told him that my sandwich was wrong the first time is was brought to the table and was not right the second time but I kept it. He made no comment and rang me up. The food was great but the service not so. No idea if there was something going on to excuse the lack of service. read more

I never knew this place served regular food, until recently. I decided to try the breast of turkey sandwich. I figured it would be one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, considering they're well known for making high quality desserts. Sadly, I was mistaken. The sandwich was extremely sloppy, loaded with bitter iceberg lettuce, overripe tomatoes, and it had too much mayo on it. They were supposed to serve the sandwich on a French roll. We stumbled upon Sugar Mill last week and while we enjoyed a solid meal of meatloaf and chicken with puff pastry, we were treated to a few songs by an Elvis impersonator (it was the anniversary of his death). First time here. A very small and quaint restaurant. Only open for lunch. The tables are pretty tight but man they can pack them in. Menu has a variety of items. THE BEST CAKE EVER. Okay, I am a professional Cake expert. CAKE is my thing, and it is a part of who I am. This place offers two of my absolute favorites. First, the chocolate fudge cake is amazing. This cake is baked with all fresh ingrediants and then the fudge icing is poured over the cake (just like my great grandmother's) perfectly. Second, the coconut cake! I am shocked, but this place has introduced a coconut cake with a moist, rich fluffy cake with amazing coconut. Two of the best cakes I have ever tasted, and they are right here in Fort Walton Beach! As a group of mid to late 20 year olds, we were the youngest patrons by generations. The service here is great, as always in the South. The sweet tea refills just keep-a-coming. The food was decent. The options were surprisingly diverse. As I hinted at earlier, there is more than just brownies and cakes. They offer a variety of dishes from sandwiches to Mexican. Kind of odd, really. Prices were a bit high for the South, but at least, the portions met the Southern standards. Unfortunately, 2 of my friends had some "bonus" bowel movements after eating here. I was in town for my mom's birthday and needed to order a good cheesecake for the following day. Although the Cafe was closed, I was able to contact them through their Facebook site. I couldn't decide on a specific flavor, so they recommended half cherry and half key lime. It was beautiful and delicious! It was fine but not my preference of brownie. Next time, I decided to dine in. The sweet tea is divine, with the perfect amount of sweetness to where I'm not feeling like I'm about to go into a diabetic coma. I went out on a limb and ordered the chicken divan and ranch as my salad dressing. Holy Jesus, Moses and Joseph was the Chicken Divan amazing! It was my first time ever having this epitome of a southern dish. A little creamy, cheesy chicken and broccoli with rice. The ranch dressing was great as well. Yes I was probably the youngest in here, but I do not care! FWB is a retirement community and it is lunch on a weekday, so what do you expect? The waitress suggested the chocolate on chocolate cake which according to the man at the register happened by accident and used the Rocky road icing?
