But it is also just a regular coffee shop? Nothing mind blowing. I wish the donuts were made in house! That would have lived up to the name.

I went on a Sunday morning with my dear friend to do studying and we needed to get straight to work and thankfully with the quick service we were able to receive we did just that. The lady who took our order and made our drinks was quite pleasant to confer with and had a great attitude. People would walk in and out to order their food or drink but other than that it was relatively quiet. Another thing not often seen at other places was the variety of seating, Maple bar has high chairs, big tables with benches, cozy chairs, and even small sectioned off areas to sit. Inside was colorful, bright, and warm. It definitely put me in a bright mood for the day! Great study spot! I would recommend!

Highly recommend their foot-long eclairs for just $3!!! Whipped cream is very generous and high, probably about 3 inches....and caked w/ a solid, layer of chocolate, crusted nicely on top. and best part is the 'donut-y bread' it is on...it's their signature. I've seen their mocha chocolate mud pies, lime and pecan ones too... Big a** chocolate chip cookies, white-chocolate dipped macadaminan plus M&M's too. Yet, they also have fruit smoothies but not exactly healthy; they use sweetened, concentrate juice. Lots of flavours but also too much ice too. A must visit at the Silver Reef casino.

For the rest of the country macarons are the new cupcakes, but here in Ferndale we're just getting…read moreour first cupcake shop. I went in last week on what turned out to be opening day. There were about six flavors of cupcakes available, along with some cookies and chocolates. The cupcakes come in three sizes: mini for $1, regular for $2.50, and large for $5. However on my first visit there were no minis available, and on my second visit the minis only came in one flavor. Carol mentioned that she'll be having one special cupcake every day, and from what I can tell that one will be the large. The first cupcake I tried was the daily special... a sweet potato cupcake topped with toasted marshmallows and walnuts. I loved the sweet potato cake, but I think I would have preferred a cream cheese frosting over the marshmallows. Also it didn't wow me enough to be worth the $5 price tag. On my second visit I had two of the regular size cupcakes. One was a half chocolate/half vanilla cupcake (cutely named something like "can't make up my mind"), and the other was a creamsicle cupcake. Overall I've found the cake to be perfectly moist, and the frosting nice and sweet, with a good balance between the two. The only improvement I'd suggest is more pronounced flavors, as I couldn't really taste much orange in the creamsicle. But I am glad that Carol is being inventive with the flavors and not just sticking to the usual chocolate with chocolate, chocolate with vanilla, vanilla with vanilla, vanilla with chocolate, etc. To be honest, in a larger city I don't think Carol's Cake Designs would last against stronger competition. But it's a wonderful addition to Ferndale and I have a feeling I'll be stopping by pretty regularly.

On the third try it was opened, We ordered a birthday cake for my niece. Carol talked a good game about her special fondant, but in the end it was a major disappointment. We spent three digits on this cake, but you would never know it. The stripes on the cake were not the same lengths. There were patches in the fondant. Patches!! The special fondant was so super sickly sweet as to be in edible. It was just so immaturely decorated. We didn't even bother taking a picture of it. My niece didn't want a permanent reminder of how bad her birthday cake looked. We won't be back.

However, my annoyance quickly faded when I tried some of their drinks. I took advantage of their July specials and tried the nuttier white chocolate macadamia and caramel hazelnut latte. I find that coffee places can be hit or miss in terms of consistency, particularly at drive-throughs, but this place has hit the spot every time. It his the trifecta of being affordable, expedient, and plentiful in their flavors/variety. Mugshots has quickly skyrocketed to the top of my coffee spots to hit up in town. I would recommend everyone check this place out!

I have been to Mug Shots Coffee many times since it's close to my home, but yesterday's experience…read morewas unacceptable. When I arrived, there was only one car on each side of the stand--hardly a busy time. The car in front of me left shortly after I pulled up, so there was no reason for a delay. A different car pulled up behind me right after I got to the window. When I reached the window, I received absolutely no acknowledgment. No greeting, no "we'll be right with you," nothing. The owner stepped out of the stand on my side, continued talking with the baristas, and still did not acknowledge my presence. She then walked past my car and took the order of the vehicle behind me, completely ignoring the customer already waiting at the window. For nearly six minutes, not one person--neither the owner nor the multiple baristas inside--said a single word to me or made any attempt to take my order. Instead, they began preparing the order for the car that had arrived after me while I continued to sit there with no service whatsoever. This level of disregard is unacceptable. When a stand is not busy and several employees are present, being ignored entirely--especially while someone who arrived later is served first--is beyond unprofessional. I left extremely disappointed and frustrated, and this experience has seriously made me reconsider returning

They happily put the game on when we asked and were very attentive throughout our visit, which made a great first impression. I ordered the burger with bacon and blue cheese and requested no condiments. I think there may have been some confusion in the kitchen, as the garnishes were left off as well, but our server promptly brought them out when asked. Unfortunately, the burger itself was overcooked and lacked flavor. The ciabatta roll was only partially toasted, and overall the dish fell a bit flat. The fries, however, were excellent hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. I don't usually like coated fries, but these were a home run. My dining partner ordered the BLT and said the sandwich was great overall. We also shared the mozzarella sticks appetizer. They were a bit different from traditional mozzarella sticks, thicker cheese with a heavier breading. While they were good, I felt the order should have included six instead of four. Overall, even though we were one of only two tables in the restaurant, we had a great lunch, thanks largely to the excellent service.
