Came here on a Sunday afternoon after finding out that my typical fav Pure Bliss isn't open. It's a pretty cute spot and I liked the concept of a "scrappy" for the variety of texture/flavors. Some window seats are great for people watching and the staff were really friendly. My thing with American desserts in general is the level of sweetness. We ordered our wedding cake through Nancy at Saltadena. It was the smoothest process even during the times of uncertainty. Luckily for they had just opened for in person tasting and we got to experience that in person. When we walked in, the tasting was just us, Nancy and our planner. We got to sample 4 cake flavors and a surprising 2 macarons. The selection of flavor, design and what we wanted were pretty simple but Nancy made sure she understood our wants and wishes. I would definitely recommend this bakery for any bride having their wedding up north or who is willing to make the drive. read more

Walked in the door and was immediately hit with the smell of fresh chocolate cake. Now that's a way to get me to buy every single thing offered! Besides the amazing smells, this place serves up fresh cookies, macaroons and creative cream puffs. They also take all cake scraps, add frosting and serve it in a container called a 'lil' scrappy'. I haven't made my way to Bellingham in awhile, but I've had this spot bookmarked for awhile. I finally got to try it when they did a pop-up in Seattle this weekend. They had a couple of cream puffs and lots of varieties of the Scrappys. The Scrappys are essentially bowls of leftover cake bits with frosting, whipped cream, and/or pudding depending on which type you got. I got a cookies and cream cream puff and 2 Scrappys: a passionfruit one and a london fog one. Both of the ones I got were "trifle style", so pudding with whipped cream. I didn't taste the other styles, but I have got to say that I am inspired. I think I prefer these to a regular slice of cake now. I love the mix of textures and flavors. The passionfruit pudding had a lovely tart passionfruit flavor that balanced the sour, distinct flavor of passionfruit with a nice light sweetness. The london fog managed to have a strong yet delicate earl grey flavor that was really pretty. While the stars of the show were the Scrappies in my eyes, I loved the cream puff. It was so well executed and that cookies and cream filling was perfect to me. Even if they just sold cream puffs, I would have been more than pleased. I hope they do more pop-ups in Seattle! I will order WAY more next time. :) read more

Wow. This was by far the most amazing creampuff I have had in my lifetime! It was my first time visiting this lovely little bakery and it definitely was not my last time. My husband and I both enjoy these cookies and cream puffs. Tonight we will be trying out their cupcakes. I can honestly say I now have a new favorite bakery in Bellingham. Have you ever watched that Netflix series, Salt Fat Acid Heat? This little slice of heaven embodies just that. Flaky salt on top of the soft and buttery chocolate cake, the creamy frosting with the crispy crunchy bits, and to excite your taste buds... the heat from the pepper. There is no other way to put this, but it is DAMN GOOD. The best part is, if you don't care about your cake looking pretty, you can grab a small container of their 'Lil Scrappies and have a "piece of cake" that tastes exactly the same but $2 cheaper. It's so brilliant on the owners part! She is making money on something that at another bakery would probably just waste!! Another amazing thing is they take Applepay. First of all, the space...aesthetically pleasing AF, but not over done in a super hipster I can't get this dirty way. The brick accent wall pulls it all together... really. OK. So Lil Scrappies! Here we go, cutting edge? Like this is absolutely genius. The scraps of the cake, eliminating waste, a perfect amount of frosting to balance it out and you have this mish mash of perfection. Next level. I got the chocolate with salt and pepper buttercream and it was probably the best I've ever had, EVER. I'm a fan of a sweet salty relationship but this flavor combination with the chocolate, like what? There were tons of unique flavor combinations, I think a sweet corn vanilla and or a salted caramel banana? It's a surpasses basic and the flavor, texture, and everything about it shows that the person behind the curtain knows what they're doing and I'm all about it. I got some oat milk to wash it all down and it was perf. I'm stoked to go back to try the rotating cream soda and shakeratos. There aren't many places you can grab those in town. Great bakery. We were so glad that it was opened when we arrived. There weren't that many people when we got there. We ordered the cake in the little plastic cups and they were to die for. I normally don't like eating carrot cake but that carrot cake was the bomb. It was too good. There was the right amount of candied nuts, frosting, and cake. It was so good. The macarons were good too. My husband got the vegan chocolate and another chocolate cake. All were really tasty. If you come on a Sunday, their baked goods are discounted. I've been trying to decide how to review this place because I love cake and I love small businesses, but unfortunately this place missed the mark for me. Myself, my boyfriend and two of our friends all came here looking for dessert at the end of a fun night. We stepped into this small, clean, quaint place after deciding to try somewhere new. They had 4 cakes available by the slice, their signature Scrappies (cake scraps and frosting in a cup), and macarons available as well as espresso drinks. We got a lemon macaron, a slice of lemon/raspberry cake, and a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream scrappy. The macaron was good and was as expected. The cake was good too...just good. I loved the lightness of the cake but the flavor was underwhelming for me. Unfortunately the scrappy was also underwhelming- the buttercream had no flavor and had the texture of softened butter mixed with cool whip (I have NO idea how they make their frosting but I assume not with cool whip). For $18 with a tip, it just didn't meet the mark for us. Speaking of price- there were no prices to be found on their items besides their espresso prices listed on a board. Bummer! read more

So excited to see this bakery open! I found out about Saltadena on Instagram, definitely follow her page. Nancy's the owner and I started purchasing her scrappies (extra cake pieces with a variety of toppings and butter creams) and cupcakes a while ago. Her cakes are some of the most delicious around, and her buttercream is my favorite, I never was a huge fan before but hers is silky smooth, not too heavy, with the perfect amount of sweetness. I've tried a variety of her treats, from coconut cardamom, salt and pepper, funfetti, vanilla, pumpkin, and chocolate of many varieties. They're all delicious! I was very excited to come here to try a dessert and their "shakeorato" as I seen them post it on their instagram often however this past Sunday when I stopped by in the morning I was disappointed and I was told they did not have drip coffee to make it.
