There was virtually no Cookie Dough in the Cookie Dough ice cream I received. [Ben & Jerry's, according to the dailymeal.com, is 21-percent Cookie Dough]. The Tin Roof lacked peanuts and Fudge Ripple. The Chocolate and Raspberry ... meh. I think I had high expectations, due to the Yelp Rating, and because it's a dairy. A Dairy! If that's not enough for you, they also sell truly HUMUNGOUS containers of ice cream. Are they 3 gallon tubs? I think so. I came in from the snow so I was too cold to really look, but there were some gigantic tubs of ice cream in that freezer! And how does the ice cream taste? Deeeeeelicious! And the scoops are ridiculous. For instance, I asked for 1/2 a scoop of this and 1/2 a scoop of that - to equal one scoop. I think she gave me 2 cups of ice cream. That was one scoop. Wow! Now, in case you should be offended by the ginormous scoops... go to Baskin & Robbins. Otherwise, stay, eat an enormous waffle cone full of absolutely delicious ice cream - that really tastes homemade, and relax. This is a large shop/restaurant with plenty of seating. Oh, and one more thing. If you have room in your tummy after that gargantuan ice cream cone, get a jug of chocolate milk. Affordable prices and amazing ice cream-- what more can you want? I came here with my boyfriend, who received the recommendation from a coworker who stops by regularly. We bought a cup of the mint cookie crumble and a waffle cone with strawberry and fudgy wudgy. Both were fantastic; the ice cream itself was creamy and the flavors were on point. Birthday cake and coffee were but as a little underwhelmed with the mint chocolate chip and raspberry cheesecake. Also tried their grasshopper sundae which is mint chocolate chip with Oreo cookies and caramel sauce. My 9 yo devoured it but it was a tad too sweet for me. Don't bother with the house coffee though. It's not brewed to order and sits in a carafe around the register. A bit disappointed since I love blazing hot coffee with anything sweet. Instead it tasted like lukewarm Folger's. Pass on it. Grab something from their HUGE freezer full of seriously ginormous tubs of every imaginable flavor under the sun. No really, if you love ice cream, look no further. Their prices are incredible, too. We can get the whole fam-damily in and out for around $10. Whenever I go in I cringe at the thought of a recent cone I purchased in Seattle for (gulp) $7. And it wasn't nearly as good as this place. They also have sandwiches, too, and besides ice cream to go you can grab milk (2 gallons for $2.50), local cheese, sour cream, and even quark. Basically if it's in the dairy family, Edaleen's has it. Must go Ice Cream place in Whatcom County! Ed and Aileen Brandsma (Ed + Aileen = Edaleen) owns a dairy farm in Lynden, milking more than 2,500 cows and their ice creams are made from their milk. I've been in Blain, Guide Meridian, Lynden and Ferndale locations. Their soft cream is very affordable and delicious! While we've been trying to avoid travel to the United States lately, we occasionally head south of the border because we can't find the same diversity of products in Vancouver. On one such trip, we stopped by Edaleen Dairy in Ferndale to grab some ice cream since the weather was so hot. Named after Ed and Aileen Bransma back in 1975, Edaleen has 5 locations now and serves up both soft serve and hard ice cream. Their Blueberry Vanilla Swirl soft serve ice cream is as tasty and as refreshing as you could imagine. We also grabbed a serving of their Rocky Road hard ice cream. The "single" scoop that we received was rich and tasty but left something to be desired in their presentation skills. Being raised in Whatcom Co., I grew up on going out to the dairy for ice cream and other yummy treats. EVERY Edaleen Dairy employee I had ever come in contact with over a span of 30 years, whether at the big dairy or at the retail stores, was very kind and attentative to their customers. Its been about 4 years since I've been and took my wife and kids there for the first time ever. We visited July 3rd about 45 min before closing. The young lady working the counter was probably one of the rudest people I've ever met. She was obviously trying to close early as possible because she rushed us thru to give her all the sizes of ice cream we wanted and we could pick our flavors after. Clearly needed to close her register. After we paid for all our ice cream sizes half the flavors they "didnt have." Needless to say most of the ice cream was thrown away...SMH Regardless of the poor customer service we kept our cool and took the ice cream we paid for and left. The rude little girl at the register just kept counting her till and didn't bat an eye at any of us..worthy of a 1 star for sure but gave 2 just because I still have hope that this dairy hasn't gone to complete crap! read more

Very popular local place for some delicious ice cream. We almost went to Sonic but were happy that we chose the local Edaleen Dairy instead. Their items are made very nearby in Lynden, WA. There is a large refrigerated and freezer case inside with a lot of choices. At the counter they even have yogurt they they can dish up for you. The ice cream choices were surprisingly limited. There were probably about 10 selections. I would've thought they would have had more choices available as they are an ICE CREAM place. They could take a hint from Prince Puckler's in Eugene, OR for an example of how to do it right. That and the reason they get only 3 stars from me are the bland customer service from the 2-3 employees behind the counter. They were not mean but certainly didn't seem happy to have customers during the pandemic and their blasé attitudes showed it. A little politeness and smiling would go a long way to a better review and repeat business. read more

We stopped in because the Edaleen location in Fairhaven that we frequent was closed. The ice cream was good as always but the location was a wreck. It was 7pm on a Saturday night and it was rather slow as it was just us and one other family in the building. Upon sitting down, I was swatting away dozens of gnats that bombarded our table. Upon further inspection of the area, I noticed that the trash near the main entrance was overflowing and tables were dirty, similar to a truck stop. I wanted to give the staff the benefit of the doubt as they might be understaffed, but there were 3 employees chatting behind the counter among themselves. One employee even saw the trash while walking through to go to the freezer and didn't change it. Overall, I was not impressed with the visit and won't be back. I wish the management staff good luck in turning this place around to reflect how great the local ice cream is. read more
