Such a cute little ice cream shop! Always lots of great flavors to choose from. The black licorice is surprisingly good especially considering I don't really like black licorice candy. The blackberry, apple crisp, and chocolate raspberry cookie are all delightful. Also, the mini is a large scoop and plenty for us at $2.50 you can't beat that! Thank you! read more

Black Licorice ice cream?! If you are a fan of black licorice and this flavor is on the board/current:available, you MUST try! Sooo good. I had a small cup with two flavors .. the second flavor was cookies and coffee (or something like this?) also very good. Long lines are to be expected especially when the weather is nice but worth the wait.. and last but not least.. I wish I had gotten the name of the young lady who helped us. Not only was she super patient and friendly, she fast forwarded through the tip screen (my order was just a small ice cream but I definitely would have tipped but apparently she did not feel it was necessary?) Wow! I WILL be ready next time and definitely tip! Awesome, friendly service found here in Ferndale! read more

Edaleen Dairy - Strawberry cheesecake and coconut on waffle cone! Delicious - Grocery Near Me - Ferndale, Washington

Ice cream was delicious! They have sandwiches and other food items. I was too full to buy food, but I went there for the ice cream because others recommended it. The ice cream on the waffle cone was huge and it was for a reasonable price. The service was good. The young kids behind the counter were very polite. We'll definitely be back. It'll be the place we'll take our visiting relatives to. The ambiance was cool, like an vintage parlor. Enjoy!! read more

Pleased to see all the staff gloved & masked during these times BUT not happy to see a few customers on scene allowed in unmasked; against the law but those complaining were told "we can't enforce it"... NOT acceptable so several of us placed our orders & waited outside for them to deliver to our cars. The "malts" were tasty with the proper texture. read more

Here's why you get two stars . Yes your ice cream is delicious and generous and nicely priced however your service is horrendous. The last three times I have popped in to grab Milk I have watched all three employees focus all their attention on one customer ! If you are NOT choosing your favourite ice cream flavour or getting a sandwich made have ONE line up for people that are running in to grab quick freezer items ! It has 100 percent deterred me from stopping in now ! This is common sense I would think ??? Extremely unhappy read more

Edaleen Dairy, Ferndale. Beautiful dairy-themed retail building, clean and organized, indoor seating, plenty of parking, high-quality spoons, friendly and attentive Staff ... and run-of-the-mill, middle-of-the-road forgettable Ice Cream. Not rich, not creamy, not craveable. We purchased two Doubles: Chocolate & Tin Roof Sundae ($4.35) and Raspberry & Cookie Dough ($4.35). There was virtually no Cookie Dough in the Cookie Dough ice cream I received. [Ben & Jerry's, according to the dailymeal.com, is 21-percent Cookie Dough]. The Tin Roof lacked peanuts and Fudge Ripple. The Chocolate and Raspberry ... meh. I think I had high expectations, due to the Yelp Rating, and because it's a dairy. A Dairy! I expected eye-rolling spectacular and received, well, supermarket. Not awful, by any measure, just ... flat. Edaleen Dairy, Ferndale - buy the milk, buy their other dairy products, but I can't recommend the ice cream. Three Stars. read more

Ice cream and milk are still good, staff attitude can be hit or miss. Today there was only 1 gal that was working so I got to wait 5 minutes while she made ice cream and shakes for the people in front of me. Yes this is not long however when you are planning on a fast run in grab milk run out it is forever. Then factor in that it was due to only 1 person wanting to work and it is even worse. read more

If you're a dairy fiend what is there not to like/love/adore here? This place is Disneyland for dairy lovers. Well, for ice cream lovers at least. Want a 1/2 gallon of ice cream? You know, the 1/2 gallons they used to sell in the grocery but now are really a quart and a half or quart and a quarter? They sell those real 1/2 gallons here. However. If that's not enough for you, they also sell truly HUMUNGOUS containers of ice cream. Are they 3 gallon tubs? I think so. I came in from the snow so I was too cold to really look, but there were some gigantic tubs of ice cream in that freezer! And how does the ice cream taste? Deeeeeelicious! And the scoops are ridiculous. For instance, I asked for 1/2 a scoop of this and 1/2 a scoop of that - to equal one scoop. I think she gave me 2 cups of ice cream. That was one scoop. Wow! Now, in case you should be offended by the ginormous scoops... go to Baskin & Robbins. Otherwise, stay, eat an enormous waffle cone full of absolutely delicious ice cream - that really tastes homemade, and relax. This is a large shop/restaurant with plenty of seating. Oh, and one more thing. If you have room in your tummy after that gargantuan ice cream cone, get a jug of chocolate milk. It's the best I've ever tasted; rich and complex but not too sweet. read more

Affordable prices and amazing ice cream-- what more can you want? I came here with my boyfriend, who received the recommendation from a coworker who stops by regularly. We bought a cup of the mint cookie crumble and a waffle cone with strawberry and fudgy wudgy. Both were fantastic; the ice cream itself was creamy and the flavors were on point. We also went home with a bottle of heavy cream, which was excellent. I'm already looking forward to the next time I'm in northern WA so I can go back to an Edaleen! read more

We stopped in here several times while visiting our daughter in Ferndale. Always had very friendly service, and very tasty ice cream. Flavors were mostly traditional, but had a few different choices, and it's nice that you can get either soft-serve or hand-scooped at the same place. read more

You know when you're driving on I-5 and your car inexplicably veers off the freeway north of Ferndale and ends up at an ice cream shop? Yeah, so that happened recently. Okay it happened twice. Okay three times. And all three times we ended up at Edaleen's and it was PHENOMENAL. They have a huge selection of hard-packed ice cream in a variety of delicious flavors. Or if you like soft serve, they've got that too. Trying to be a little healthier? Check out their yogurt bar (all homemade). No time to eat a cone? Grab something from their HUGE freezer full of seriously ginormous tubs of every imaginable flavor under the sun. No really, if you love ice cream, look no further. Their prices are incredible, too. We can get the whole fam-damily in and out for around $10. Whenever I go in I cringe at the thought of a recent cone I purchased in Seattle for (gulp) $7. And it wasn't nearly as good as this place. They also have sandwiches, too, and besides ice cream to go you can grab milk (2 gallons for $2.50), local cheese, sour cream, and even quark. Basically if it's in the dairy family, Edaleen's has it. And yes, that includes beautiful Chuckanut Cheesecakes for $9.99! And if you want to work off some of those ice cream calories, there's a nice walking path right next door. Seriously, it's places like this that make me glad I'm not lactose intolerant. read more

Their ice Cream is delicious. The staff is friendly and I love convenience of a few groceries to grab on the way home from work.

Wow a true gem in Ferndale! Love the hometown feel to this shop! Ice cream scoops are verrrrrry generous at a reasonable price! Single scoops are plentiful and enough to satiate your cravings ($3 for a single scoop - def wallet friendly) I tried mint chocolate chip, birthday cake, coffee and raspberry cheesecake. Birthday cake and coffee were but as a little underwhelmed with the mint chocolate chip and raspberry cheesecake. Also tried their grasshopper sundae which is mint chocolate chip with Oreo cookies and caramel sauce. My 9 yo devoured it but it was a tad too sweet for me. Don't bother with the house coffee though. It's not brewed to order and sits in a carafe around the register. A bit disappointed since I love blazing hot coffee with anything sweet. Instead it tasted like lukewarm Folger's. Pass on it. All in all, a new must stop for us on our camping trips at beautiful Birch Bay! read more

I know people that come here for ice cream weekly on their way from Canada (pre-covid). I have a lot of favorite flavors of ice cream, but the french vanilla has always been a personal favorite here. Awesome staff and a HUGE selection of dairy-related things. This is the one to visit when you are nearby. Ice cream flavors get rotated around it seems, so if you don't see your fav flav, come back again. read more

Must go Ice Cream place in Whatcom County! Ed and Aileen Brandsma (Ed + Aileen = Edaleen) owns a dairy farm in Lynden, milking more than 2,500 cows and their ice creams are made from their milk. I've been in Blain, Guide Meridian, Lynden and Ferndale locations. Their soft cream is very affordable and delicious! I took a friend from a foreign country to this store - she was amazed by the size of Ice cream they were selling, in a huge bucket, only in America :) 。。 read more

While we've been trying to avoid travel to the United States lately, we occasionally head south of the border because we can't find the same diversity of products in Vancouver. On one such trip, we stopped by Edaleen Dairy in Ferndale to grab some ice cream since the weather was so hot. Named after Ed and Aileen Bransma back in 1975, Edaleen has 5 locations now and serves up both soft serve and hard ice cream. Their Blueberry Vanilla Swirl soft serve ice cream is as tasty and as refreshing as you could imagine. We also grabbed a serving of their Rocky Road hard ice cream. The "single" scoop that we received was rich and tasty but left something to be desired in their presentation skills. The ice cream here is really good and they also serve up sundaes as well. read more

Being raised in Whatcom Co., I grew up on going out to the dairy for ice cream and other yummy treats. EVERY Edaleen Dairy employee I had ever come in contact with over a span of 30 years, whether at the big dairy or at the retail stores, was very kind and attentative to their customers. Its been about 4 years since I've been and took my wife and kids there for the first time ever. We visited July 3rd about 45 min before closing. The young lady working the counter was probably one of the rudest people I've ever met. She was obviously trying to close early as possible because she rushed us thru to give her all the sizes of ice cream we wanted and we could pick our flavors after. Clearly needed to close her register. After we paid for all our ice cream sizes half the flavors they "didnt have." Needless to say most of the ice cream was thrown away...SMH Regardless of the poor customer service we kept our cool and took the ice cream we paid for and left. The rude little girl at the register just kept counting her till and didn't bat an eye at any of us..worthy of a 1 star for sure but gave 2 just because I still have hope that this dairy hasn't gone to complete crap! read more

Very popular local place for some delicious ice cream. We almost went to Sonic but were happy that we chose the local Edaleen Dairy instead. Their items are made very nearby in Lynden, WA. There is a large refrigerated and freezer case inside with a lot of choices. At the counter they even have yogurt they they can dish up for you. The ice cream choices were surprisingly limited. There were probably about 10 selections. I would've thought they would have had more choices available as they are an ICE CREAM place. They could take a hint from Prince Puckler's in Eugene, OR for an example of how to do it right. That and the reason they get only 3 stars from me are the bland customer service from the 2-3 employees behind the counter. They were not mean but certainly didn't seem happy to have customers during the pandemic and their blasé attitudes showed it. A little politeness and smiling would go a long way to a better review and repeat business. read more

A secret of Whatcom county. Best ice cream for your buck. Yogurt good too. Excellent selection of Dairy products to buy

Have mercy!! This has got to be THE BEST ice cream I have ever had in my life! Raspberry Cheesecake & Caramel Apple in the perfect waffle cone! The ice cream is made in Lynden, WA and I hope the milk comes from local dairies because the ice cream is to die for!! You can also get a custom made sandwich if you feel the need to eat before you get dessert. I may try a sandwich one day but I eyes go straight for the ice cream LOL.
