Haggen's is one of two grocery stores in the City I live in. It is so unfortunate that when Don…read morepassed his boys ... The selection is no longer conducive to my families needs. The cost of shopping there is astronomical and they cater to more of a Seattle palette/income. While I can appreciate that many have moved here to get out of the Seattle scenario. Why then demand Seattle where it never was, seems to defeat the purpose. The store is so unfriendly to traverse, aisles are blocked with pallets and cardboard structures, completely preventing multiple shoppers from traversing anywhere. Staff who was originally displaced when Haggen became Albertsons, (Please recognize the ownership on the building, I feel Albertsons misrepresenting themselves as Haggen is not what Don had in mind) such bad news as each an everyone of the former employees were a staple in the communities day to day experiences. A mourning situation for all, Pharmacy included (Huge turnover, continuous turnover) Does this not alarm anyone? Albertson's disguised as Haggen is for profit only and provides no benefit to the community that originally embraced Haggen's.

That is the main reason I shop here, rather than at the other similar store in Bham (Europa Market), and I also find the prices a slightly cheaper here. Definitely cool spot for organic groceries but a bit of a step down from Skagit Valley Food Co-op in Mt. Vernon. Good spot for food if you're in North Bellingham and you don't want to make the drive south to Whole Foods.
