The staff in the jewelry department are amazing! My mom had lost a ring that she received as a birthday present from four years ago and we went to look for something similar and Adam went so far above and beyond to find out if Fred Meyer still sold the ring and if we could get it and he had it shipped to the store in Bellingham and made all the difference in getting a surprise gift for my mom. The time that Adam took looking up the exact ring and where it was was so impressive and kind of him. I've never had a bad experience in this jewelry department or the grocery store. I highly recommend if you're looking for some beautiful jewelry and extremely helpful staff to go to the Fred Meyer on Baker view Road. In brief, I was shopping at a Fred Meyers in Bellingham. I'm 74 years old. I suffer from osteoarthritis, heart failure, and diabetes. My checkout machine froze and I couldn't pay for the $60 worth of groceries I had just purchased. I noticed the self checkout personnel was flirting or talking to another customer. I did not interrupt him I simply waited 5 minutes held two fingers in the air when he turned around and pointed to my machine. He's much taller than I was and he reached behind me and pulled the card into my hip I have bursitis. He started screaming at me for not moving the cart and letting other customers to get in. In pain I told him I really don't give an F I just need to get out of here I will put the groceries in my cart as soon as I can pay for them. He just bumped me taller than I am and told me to get the F out of his store. There never doubt in my mind as painful and as bad as I felt. I was going to have to fight this clerk. He kept pumping into me and telling me to get the app out of his store or else. I was willing to take the, "or else* even if it killed me. I found the store manager and told her, she offered to have security walk with me so I could shop. I did not expect Fred Meyers to offer armed security to shop for older senior citizens to protect them from their from their clerks. I left without pain without my groceries I was ordered to get out I tried twice to talk to him and he would just stand in front of me chest bumping me and telling me to get out of his effing store now. I didn't know Fred Meyers was so desperate for employees that they would hire low IQ individual to operate their registers. The manager for promised that she would give me protection to shop in her store. Apparently a perk for senior citizens. I have shopped at that store for over 14 years and never had a problem. I will never, ever, go back to a Fred Meyers or Kroger store. read more

I am done shopping here. Prices are frequently jacked up at the register only to be discovered later/if you check the receipt. Coupons never seem to just work and sometimes if you get the wrong employee not honored at all. Also items are frequently out of stock. read more

I've been to over 20 FM locations, but for some reason, the Bellingham, WA location can't seem to get their lights, sounds, and security checker systems to function normally. It behaves almost as if a toddler is in the office just pushing random buttons--making the lights and sounds go off for no reason. It just gets weirder. After speaking to corporate, it's worse than ever. Parents, I would suggest shopping alone or leaving your little ones and special needs or autistic kids and adults at home, because this is a very upsetting shopping environment for vulnerable adults and children. read more

This is conveniently located across from Costco. I popped by here after Costco gas run. The place is pretty big as it has its own lot with plenty of parking. I usually just zoom right into the grocery section. I like getting the snacks which are not available in canada. The eggs and dairy stuff are also definitely cheaper than up north. Besides grocery, there are household items and decors. Clothing and jewelry are also available here. There is also a Starbucks by the entrance for your caffeine fix. Get the Fred Meyer rewards card from customer service so that you can get the member price for more savings. read more

I'd like to draw attention to the absolutely atrocious level of service at the self-checkout area in this store. Frankly, I believe that with proper service, this department shouldn't even need to exist. I only use it to quickly scan a few items--usually just two or three--so I don't have to stand in line or listen to endless, drawn-out discussions of local gossip and hate targets, which, for some reason unknown to me, are presented as "customer service" at this store. At the same time, I use it to check prices--since the store, to put it mildly, is far from perfect when it comes to placing price tags near products. So my goal is simple: quickly check the price, pay, and leave. What could possibly go wrong? Well, if you haven't yet experienced Fred Meyer's idea of "service," don't worry--they'll shove it down your throat, as we say in Russia. There was a bald white guy, under 30, stationed at the self-checkouts, supposedly to make sure customers weren't making mistakes. In reality, his "service" consisted of commenting on and gossiping about other people in the store. I told him directly that customer service doesn't mean running your mouth and discussing shoppers. His response? He suggested I "go back to where I came from." Since I've got the chance, I'd like to recommend this idiot look for a job better suited to his natural tendencies, abilities, and appearance. read more

Fred's used to be one of my goto stores, but no more. Costco and Walmart have made public statements about their costs dropping and them passing savings on to customers. I have started seeing this in local pricing drops. Trader Joe's has been dropping, raising and dropping prices for a year, I assume, reflecting the changes in their wholesale costs. Fred's seems to stick to their old pricing models. Put a few items on an actual good sale price, mark up other items above retail, then mark them down to retail and say they are on sale and then leave regular items at inflation prices. The Bakerview store has great employees. Gonna miss them. read more

The fresh sea food! The prices of the fresh fish are excellent. And it is so fresh! Highly recommend the trout. And the fish guy! For us there's seems to be this older guy, same guy, every time we go. He's nice and personable. There is not a smell of fish around the counter. Can't abide a fish counter that smells, and theirs never does. Highly recommend, 10/10 will be fishing there again soon! read more

I'm not a fan of negative reviews, but come on Fred Meyer! I used to love this store and have been a regular and loyal customer for years! Over this past year and a half, Fred Meyer has gone down hill. Consistent out of stock items - I'm giving grace due to the pandemic, but when other grocery stores can get their products in and Fred Meyer shelves remain empty, it's frustrating. The Dip brand is a major dud and is poor, low quality. Long lines, employees walking around on their phones and not helping causes more frustration. And their fruit and produce is just plain awful. I can't count how many times I find moldy fruits and vegetables and waste my money on poor quality. It's time I shop elsewhere and am sad to see Fred Meyer take such a turn down the tubes. :( read more

This review update is specifically about curbside pickup. Let me start with pros and cons. If you want to read more about them, details are below. PROS +You can pick virtually anything you find inside the store (with some exceptions), including alcohol. +You can now use the app to let them know when you arrive at the parking lot. CONS -They try to substitute out-of-stock items even if you ask them not to. -Many items available at the time of order are no longer available at the time of pickup. -Minimum purchase of $35 to be eligible for free pickup. RE: Out-Of-Stock Items -Every single time I do pick up here, there is at least an item or two that are no longer available at the time of pickup. I probably order about 10 items each time, and come home with about 8 items each time. RE: Substitutions -When you place an order, you can choose (for each item) allow substitution or no substitution. Even if you choose no substitution, they try to substitute. You can turn it down, but you have to do it at pick up. -A consequence of this is that the pickup process takes so much longer compared with other stores like Target or Whole Foods. At the time of pickup, your order is not finalized because of the substitutions you need to decide to accept or decline. They also accept coupons at pickup. During the pandemic, many people do pickup to avoid direct contact with other people, but Fred Meyer pickup is not quite "contactless" experience. ************************************************************ Don't forget to like my review (useful and/or cool)! They are currently offering free online order pick-ups with a drive-up service. Employees are masked and working hard to help you during the pandemic. Currently, produce and perishables are not able to be returned, but if Clicklist staff give you faulty, old, moldy, or bad items, their 800 number will give you a credit for those products and you can dispose of them as you like. read more

Usually when I head to Bellingham, I visit Target and Trader Joe's, get cheap gas, perhaps go to the US Chef's store for coffee syrup, and head back to the border. Once in a while, though, I check out this Fred Meyer, as it's right off the I-5 exit and a few blocks from the gas station I go to. And every time I visit here, I always wonder why I wasted my time. I am not a big fan of Fred Meyers stores in general; when I lived in Seattle for nearly 25 years, I'd only go to the local FM if they were having a big sale on something I needed. In general, I MUCH prefer shopping at Target, where the quality of items and the store layouts and the friendliness and helpfulness of employees are WAY better. But this particular FM store always reminds me of all the reasons I dislike this chain of stores. One reviewer (below) noted that this store is like a cross between Walmart and Costco. I would heavily stress that the store is WAY more Walmart than Costco! Costco is usually well-stocked and their customer service is top notch. FM? Not so much. In my personal experience, not at all, really. Case in point: made a quickie trip to B'ham yesterday before the border clamps down again, and stopped here to check out their holiday stuff. Found a cute ornament that I liked, on sale too (40% off! Bonus!) and I put it in my cart. Realized I needed to use the washroom, so I brought my cart to the self-checkout area. It was 8am so the store was super quiet. The woman working in this area said she would watch my cart, no problem, and I told her I'd be fast (the restrooms were located right by this self-checkout area, so I didn't have to go far!). I was back in less than 5 minutes. Where's my cart, with my ornament in it? It was gone. The woman employee was standing in the same area and when I asked for my cart she said, oops, sorry, someone must've taken it. WTH? I was going to continue shopping and get stuff. But now I was not in the mood to go find another cart and find my ornament again, and I realized, why am I even here? Target is a few minutes away. I'd rather do my business at Target. The only benefits to this store that I can ascertain: great hours of operation, often great prices (especially if items are on sale), big parking lot, Starbucks in the store (it's a good Starbucks, too), and usually good holiday and garden and kitchen departments. The downside, though, for me, does not compensate for the store's good qualities. Inattentive and non-helpful staff, haphazard merchandise often strewn about the store in different areas, everyday prices often higher than those at Target (IMO) for products of lower quality (IMO).... You get way more bang for your buck going to Target, which is just a 4 minute drive from this FM store. read more

While I've been to many Fred Meyer's, This one was definitely the worst experience. My wife went in to purchase some adult beverages. She provided them with a proper identification, and was told that I would have to come in to provide my identification. Which I was amazed at and stand. Maybe one of the reasons why that occurred was the assistant store Manager was being extremely discriminatory because my wife was from Kenya! She was extremely rude in her explanation for the reason why she wanted my identification. When I asked her why she didn't accept my wife's identification, which was valid she had no explanation. This will be the last time that I go to this location and of course, because nothing was done who was involved in the situation the assistant store manager. read more

So many reasons to love Fred's...the gift card selection is the best in town, bakery and deli are amazing, garden and home sections are my favorites, this store stocks so many brands of so many different items including natural foods/products...oh and clothing and shoes too!!! They offer personal shopping aka "click list". Other than my son (of course) my favorite employee is Anji who has a way of making me feel like we've been friends for years.. all of the staff are awesome!!! There are not many brick and mortar store like this left and this is the best one of its kind. It pays to have their rewards card as I get a coupon quarterly or so with $$$$ to spend however I want to. Also lots of awesome coupons. The only bad thing to say agrees with the others..parking and traffic are troublesome..so I try to go early in the day and that usually does the trick. read more

This is for Anna in the Pharmacy, she was excellent. There was recently an outage of their insurance billing system, & It must've been a very difficult day for her, and i came in near the end of it. She helped above & beyond the call of duty. She did what service really means, helping me even though she could've left me hanging, she could've said "come back tomorrow when the computer's working /there's nothing I can do.." but she didn't say that. She found a solution that worked! (BTW I'd just had my prescriptions transferred to Fred's bc CVS had had a staff walk-out. (All their staff just left one day & stopped opening the store during business hours). So I was frustrated walking into Fred's. Finding out the computer was down could've easily become the cherry on top of a very difficult medication week. But Anna saved it.) read more

Being an innocent Canadian, I really didn't know what to expect from Fred Meyer. Even now, I don't know how to describe it properly. "Costco meets Wal-Mart" is the best motto I can think of. Parking is available in the nice huge lot surrounding the building. The inside is pretty huge, like any of those warehouse-style chains. There's a section for almost everything under the sun, other than maybe cars or livestock, unless you count the frozen and sliced up variety. They have the "bulk family stuff" of Costco, and the "cheap knick knacks" of Wal-Mart. Pricing looked pretty competitive. I cruised the aisles to test the item selection. Yup, they really do pretty much have everything. Definitely a good place to swing by if you're in the area. read more

I always find that the cheapest place to buy milk is Fred Meyer. They always have milk on sale. I like shopping at this one because its the closest to the boarder. Being so close to bellis fair mall its like in the center of everything. This place recently went through reno like a year or 2 years ago. Its clean and very organized. Staff are quite friendly. When the american dollar is low, many Canadian would come here and raid all the bread and dairy section. So not that great at times. But overall, I do enjoy shopping here. Its quite big because it has an electronic section, pharmacy, clothing and appliance section. I usually grab what I need and go. I think I am starting to feel like a local at this grocery store. Get a Fred Meyer card to collect points to save for cheap gas discount. read more

Why are people allowed to roam the stores without a mask. I really don't care why when curbside is available. I cut my visit short after walking through a vapor cloud as she chatted with someone that had removed their mask to chat better. I must say, this is probably one of the bigger Fred Meyer's we've seen! The garden center is huge! With a nice selection of plants, and stuff for them! Inside the main store is nice, clean and pretty well designed. In regards help, it seems plenty of help can be found if you need it, and the prices are pretty good, so thats always a plus. I think if its like our Fred Meyers in Puyallup they will match competitor adds. I would most certainly recommend Fred Meyers if you see one, probably would recommend it over Walmart! read more

This Fred Meyer is a MUST-STOP for me always when I cross the border. It's my go-to place for my regular groceries and usually my last stop as I always buy my staples (chicken, milk, and cheese) here. The store was going through a massive renovation and not sure if they're done now as I haven't been, but I'm sure it's more clear and organized than it was before - and I thought it was already organized! It's a huge grocery store that carries clothing, make-up, home goods, furniture, alcohol, flowers, and all your grocery needs. Basically everything you need in life - they have. I never go over to their clothing section so I can't say much about that. Their sales are pretty excellent, but sometimes you do have to scour the flyers for coupons and the flyers are usually not clean and organized. Prices are great compared to what I'm used to in Vancouver, Canada. After I have a cartful of goods and done shopping, I will always head over to the gas station! There's a line-up sometimes but trust me when I tell you it goes very fast. It's super organized and most of the time there are guys manning the station and pointing you to which pump is available. I choose this gas station over Costco because I can charge my usd credit card at FM, instead of my canadian debit card at Costco and get dinged. You win Freddies!! read more

Worst pharmacy that I've ever been. Tp be clear, I've been going to this Fred Meyer for all my groceries as well as the pharmacy. It has been very convenient. Even when just needing medications, I would always make a trip through to pick up groceries, households supplies, kitchen, bath etc. Over the last year, they have cut their staff to almost nothing. The drive though is closed, thus forcing people to go into the store. And with that, the line will be 10-15 people deep with 1 person manning the cash register. Try calling? Immediately put on hold. Last month, I called 4 times and was on hold for 10 minutes each and then hung up each time. That was it for me. While it take me an extras 5 mounter to drive to Walmart, I'll be using them for all my household and pharmacy needs. It beats standing in line at the Fred Fred Meyer Bakerview pharmacy for 20-30 minutes. I feel sorry for the staff, it clear to see they're being run ragged by corporate decision to understand. read more

I love this place. This is the only place I shop for groceries and drinks. Staff is always super friendly and nice. (Yes Larry, I'm talking about you especially, my friend!). Prices are great. Not cheap of course, but I don't mind. Alcohol section always has a big variety of drinks, as well as very good prices. Better than most of the Liquor shops if you ask me. So I had an experience with Mia at the customer service desk. And she is the sole reason why I'm giving three stars to this Fred Meyer's. I went to go return some things after spending hundreds of dollars in their store. And gave her my Fred Meyer rewards Number and she was able to look at my receipt. But then she proceeded to tell me that I needed to show her a visa card ending in four digits when I know for a fact that I wrote a check. So she was only able to give me a gift card because I did not use a visa I wrote a check. I know damn She could've easily return the items for cash back. Although a bit crowded at times this is a great super market. The produce and meat department attendants know their stuff. In general the staff are really helpful and friendly. Their rewards program is a great way save points to receive cents off your gas. Very VIP feeling. Plus you receive a bit of a rebate at the end of their quarter. read more
