I realize most drug stores only receive reviews when someone has a complaint, so they are notoriously lowballed in the star department. I thought I might do my bit to remedy that for my own local, seeing as how they are doing a pretty good job. When I come in, I'm nearly always greeted personally by one of the staff. The service in the pharmacy is efficient and knowledgeable, and they have gone the extra mile on several occasions to interact with my healthcare provider in getting me taken care of. The store is clean and organized, but poorly stocked. I get the impression they are perpetually in the midst of downsizing, and it feels a little early-Covid/Soviet Union with isles of mostly-empty shelves and little selection. That's the only detracting factor, and the missing star. They got it going on where it really counts: customer service and pharmacy efficiency. You could do a WHOLE lot worse in Bellingham - I'm looking at YOU, Walgreens... Recommended. read more

Rude and incompetent pharmacy staff, told me my prescription was ready then made me wait hours

The customer service at this Rite Aid location was exceptional. Everyone was polite, efficient, and helpful. Being able to actually use my drug insurance without major hassle was a relief. The vast majority of pharmacist clerks I've encountered over the years have been either rude, disinterested, dismissive , or insulting to older customers, but the employees at this Rite Aid location were not. I don't know if the employees here hate their job, but every time I have come to get vaccine, tests or pick up medication they always treat me (and others) like you're the worst part of their day. Employees at this Rite Aid are wonderful, making it work despite depleted shelves, inadequate staffing, frequent shoplifters, and invisible management. Many seniors rely on this pharmacy and are often greeted by name and treated with love and respect. This store features good prices -- especially on seasonal goods -- and friendly service. Store personnel, though oftentimes, understaffed, know their merchandise and are typically anxious to be helpful. Corporate controls slow the process of honoring coupons and special pricing, but staff and management alike are motivated to promote the best interests of customers even when the system slows and interferes with that objective. As large, corporate drug stores go, Rite Aid is better than most and this store, in particular, does a pretty good job and definitely cares about it's customers. That said, the reality is that inventory control means waiting for commonly prescribed drugs and longer processing waits even when they are on the shelf. Electronically-generated prescriptions from your Doctor's office directly to major pharmacies like Rite Aid are convenient and should be more efficient, but I'm convinced that the pharmacists at this store are instructed not to fill most prescriptions until customers arrive to pick them up! read more

Our local pharmacists and counter staff are great, but Rite-Aid has cut staff, started using centralized prescription filling, and so there is ALWAYS a long line to wait for your prescription. I'm waiting innit now. And WAY too often, I wait through the long line to find that the prescription the system assured me would be filled - sometimes even the previous day- is not ready. I have lost track of how many times I have had to come back for a prescription that was supposed to be ready. Sometimes twice for the same one! Again, I want to emphasize that I really like our store's staff, they're friendly and supportive. But Rite-aid seems to be going bare bones and it's hurting the customer. read more

I'm rating this particular Rite Aid for the pharmacy. Employees can be quite rude in person and over the phone. I just called to see if one of my prescriptions was ready. I told her that I use a manufactures coupon and that it should be in their system. She said "oh somebody must've put the information in somebody else's chart. It will take an hour to fix it" and then she hung up on me. There is just no reason to be rude. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Geez. read more

Two out of three pharmacy employees were unprofessional, unhelpful, obnoxious, and condescending. I wouldn't trust them to dispense drugs. Always always short staffed in pharmacy. I don't blame any employees because they seem to be doing the best they can. Spent several days trying to call with a prescription question and got no answer on the phone at all hours of the day, 4 days in a row. Finally had to go in, wait in a long line (at an off-peak time), just to find out that there had been an issue and my prescription was not ready. Luckily I live nearby and am physically able but for an older individual or someone who is actually I'll or had to travel a bit this could be a huge inconvenience and is honestly an equity issue. Every time I inquire (politely as possible) about delays, mistakes, etc., the staff apologize and say it's because they're understaffed. I believe them and, being a healthcare worker myself, I truly sympathize. However, I've been using this pharmacy for years and it has only gotten increasingly worse. I sincerely hope the ones in charge are working in some way to fill this staffing gap, otherwise I may need to find a new (farther away) pharmacy, as it's starting to have actual impacts on my health. read more

The two experiences with the pharmacy staff have been confusing and upsetting. I went in to pick up my medication, and as a college student, this was the first time I have ever done so, so I was not very familiar with what the "process" looked like. The staff member that helped me was condescending from start to finish and made me feel like an idiot, giving me insignificant detail about how to proceed. I gave him all of the information I was able to provide, and it felt like he just wanted to get done with the transaction and had zero interest in actually helping me through the details. Another woman near him saw I was getting upset, and chimed in about how insurance details can be a pain. I eventually got what I needed, but I am switching my pharmacy location after two irritating visits. read more

Not only have they called doctors' offices to expedite refills, they have spent extra energy trying to get my mother's insurance to approve her medication. We have given up on this Rite-Aid location. Prescriptions are rarely ready even though we give plenty of time for refill options. The last straw was when I called in a refill on a Thursday and it wasn't ready the following Tuesday! They seem to be understaffed. We'll happily try another location. read more

This is the largest, nicest, friendliest, well-staffed Rite-Aid I've ever been in. It is HUGE! I came in to get some cold remedies, but I all I knew was that I wanted something with zinc in it. I was greeted as I entered the store and I told the dude what I was looking for and he proceeded to show me a variety of zinc cold remedies including a Rite-Aid branded one that was super cheap. I like this Rite Aid store. The pharmacy staff are really helpful. If you have questions about your medication or insurance shenanigans that need working out, they'll help. I've been to other stores that had an "I don't care" attitude, but the pharmacists and pharmacy assistants at this Rite Aid have always gone above and beyond to get things just right for me. I went to the Sehome Rite Aid last Tuesday. The cashier, Lulu, was absolutely HORRIBLE to me. I am a college educated woman and she treated me like trash. If I wanted to be berated like this I would have gone and talked to my ex husband. Lulu told me that I looked a little too old to be wearing a crop top. This is America and I have the freedom to wear whatever I want LULU. She also made comments about my purchases (tequila and diapers). First of all, I was going to a baby shower. I came into sehome rite aid today (5/4/2016) around 12:20pm and all I needed to buy were TAMPONS. As soon as I walked into the store with my boyfriend, we were greeted by 2 women, they seemed like pharmacy employees maybe but either way, the wider woman I think was the one who spoke and I am extremely offended by my entire trip to this store simply due to her stupid greeting. I am a female, and as I said I walked in with my boyfriend to buy tampons and I do have a short hair cut and was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. The woman said something like "hello, gentlemen." Very simple but also very offensive because I am not a man and anyone who takes a second look at me can plainly see that I am not a man. You should be training your employees to greet each customer the same and to never use exclusive terms or cater to any specific person. Any customer service representative should know to just use basic greetings like hello, hi, how are you, how is your day, etc. Please just be sure to include anyone and everyone in your greeting and save yourself the trouble of being so extremely wrong next time. read more
