A heavy set woman in her late twenties was very rude to me. I had just inquired about products that I had purchased on other occasions and she did not even look at me and grunted that these items were not available, that I should visit the Lynden store. In Lynden, by the way, customer service is at least acceptable. A piece of advice for anyone in sales or customer service: If you don't like your job or are in a bad mood, keep it to yourself. With your negative attitude you are losing customers for your employer.

This store is a life saver!…read more We are contractors and had a job on Orcas Island. We had never been to Orcas before and were unfamiliar with the area. Before we set out for the island, I looked up local hardware stores (just in case). I found Island Hardware & Supply, called them to make sure they would have what we MIGHT need, hopped in the truck and got on the ferry. OF COURSE it turned out that we DID need some items, so we set off for the Hardware store. We got lost and ended up at the little hardware store in East Sound - we thought we were at the right store, but they didn't have any of the supplies we needed. We were pretty confused until I found out from a local resident that the little hardware store in East Sound is on North Beach Road, and the big hardware store (Island Hardware) is on West Beach Road. So we hopped back in the truck again, and set out to find Island Hardware. (yes, we got losat again...but eventually figured it out) We were so relieved when we located the store and were able to purchase the supplies we needed, because we were thinking that we would have to get on the ferry and drive to the home depot in Mt Vernon (that would have taken forever). Island Hardware had all the stuff we wanted, lumber, tools, big bolts, lag screws, plumbing supplies etc. They even have a couple of little gas pumps which was handy for us. We had the occassion to go back up to Orcas for round two of the job which was exterior painting. The paint we purchased needed to be re-tinted at the last minute. We remembered that Island Hardware had a paint department and took the buckets of paint to them with our fingers crossed. Even though we didn't buy the paint from them, they happily re-tinted it for us...I thought that was pretty generous and excellent customer service!

There is also a small convenience store at this gas station. You could get food or drink. The staff was very friendly. The store is sparklingly clean. I was told that this gas station had been opened recently. It was a very pleasant place to shop here. I didn't spend too much time here this time, but I would love to come again when I pass by next time.

My friend and I were traveling on Orcas Island recently. It was May 15 when my friend noticed she…read morehad a flat tire. We found this gas station on the island and stopped there to use the air compressor and get help. We both had a hard time trying to figure out how to use the compressor properly. My friend talked to a woman (can't remember her name) who worked at the gas station and she came out to help us. After a short time, we were able to get air into the flat tire and get on our way. Thankfully, the tire remained stable until we could get back home. My friend took her car in to a Bellingham Les Schwab and they found a large screw embedded in the tire. They repaired the tire. We were just so grateful to the kind woman who came out to help us that day. Thank you!

What do I usually get when I travel? Maybe some water and ice? Maybe?? Anyway, expect the higher prices- - it's a given. Am I right though?
