Soft serve was great for the price. The chocolate was a little icy and not super smooth though. The size of the swirl was good too. There was a weird experience though where they accidentally gave me the wrong flavor of soft serve and they said I could toss it and they'd make me a new one. But I let my family member have it since it was going to go to waste. The worker said they were going to charge me for the accidental cone if the other person ate. So either throw it away and they'll take it off the bill or eat it (they weren't going to order soft serve to start) and be charged. So we tossed it because my family member wasn't gonna eat all of it anyways. Either way, a weird back and forth encounter! read more

So delicious and such a bargain!! Even with the CAD/USD exchange rates, this ice cream was so worth the price tag. They have so many delicious flavours to choose from and you can make any of them into a milkshake. Their waffle cones are massive and they really scoop the ice cream to fit the cone. It's awesome ice cream here. Edaleen ice cream has this nice fluffy texture. I got the Chocolate Wonky to consume at Edaleen and a bucket of Mint Chocolate chip to go. The chocolate ice cream was nice and light. It was not overly sweet and best of all, after consuming it, it doesn't leave you with a flemmy throat while some overly sweet ice cream does that. I was very impressed with the ice cream that I decided to grab a bucket. The mint chocolate had a nice hint of minty flavor. The chocolate chip bits are a nice addition to the ice cream. I am so that person that crosses the border with an ice cream cone in one hand and my passport in the other. This is hands down the best ice cream in WA and it's convenient now that you don't have to drive all the way to Lynden to get it from their original location! I learned about Edaleen about a decade ago and always make a point of stopping here once before crossing into Canada, and once upon arriving back to the US. My favorite flavors are the cherry and marionberry/blackberry but I literally have liked everything I've ever tried here. read more

The Edaleen Dairy site in Fairhaven/Bellingham was not open yet during my stop back on 12/26/20. So I headed further north and this was my first stop after checking out the Peace Arch Park. Edaleen Dairy has their own parking lot, as well as, adjacent street parking at their Blaine location. All things dairy....butter, sour cream, yogurt, cream, cheese, milk, ice cream. I regret eating a slice of quiche while in Fairhaven/Bellingham after eyeing the ice cream cones folks were getting at the counter. Another time. But I did get some cold milk to go. First ring have been to this location and it is really good, the staff was extremely pleasant and happy, the store is well laid out and designed with plenty of open space. We are at this dairy about twice a month for milk and such; but this time we needed some comfort from a terrible lunch. Edaleen ice cream always makes you feel better so we got ice cream cones for the first time. First, the girls behind the counter are absolutely precious! Always smiling, genuinely friendly and the know how to scoop some ice cream! Double scoop of Caramel Cashew and Cherry for me and hubs got a double scoop of Peanut Butter Cup. Let me tell you, this scooped ice cream will touch your Soul with JOY! Ginormous scoops of ice cream for two for about $10. We sat outside under the trees, enjoyed our ice cream and let the bad memories of the horrible lunch just melt away (pardon the Pun). What a great find! We finished dinner next door and decided to come here for dessert. Positive sticker shock alert! $1.60 for a Mini scoop which we thought would be a kid size. Heck no! It was bigger than a Baskin Robbins single scoop. My daughter and I were barely able to finish it. It was cheap and delicious! The store also had decadent cheesecakes in a variety of sizes and flavors. We came back a few days later and got the mango cheesecake which was so good. In a town with not much to do, this is seriously the highlight! We found this place at the end of "downtown" Blaine. We came in and each got a mini. The mini is big regular scoop for $1.60 each. Gem of an ice cream/dairy shop in historic Blaine. Parking is available behind the building, as well as in front on the street. Building is old style but is obviously new. A few shelves of random convenience store type stuff, and rows of dairy stuff along the outer edge. Looks like they have the typical dairy items such as milk, butter, yogurt, cheese, and ice cream. Staff were super friendly. Their best part though is the ice cream section. $1.50 for a small cone (normal sized for us in Canada). Some 20 flavours. I had the blackberry one and it was good. Very smooth consistency, and tasted natural. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back for some of their other goodies. Recommended. read more

The Strawberry ice cream cones were among the worst artificial taste my family has ever had. We dumped in garbage on way out after a few bites. This Strawberry flavor, at least, was nothing like the spring fresh taste we love & enjoy this time of year in the Northwest. Expensive compost. read more

Cheese. That's right, I said cheese! Edaleen Dairy definitely has cheese. Who cares if they have ice cream? Cheese is where it's at. Now, some people will find that stocking only one LOCAL cheese (from Appel Farms in Ferndale, WA) is a slight disappointment. I'm one. Don't get me wrong; Appel Farms cheese is very good, but I was hoping for a larger selection from around the region; there are so many good Washington State cheeses to be had. Edaleen does offer a variety of Appel's cheeses, including several flavored goudas, paneer, and quark. But no other local farms are represented, at least they weren't on the day when I visited. Okay now, to be fair, Ellenos yogurt is made from Edaleen Farms milk, and they do sell Grace Harbor yogurt, but I'm not even sure the Grace Harbor goats are still pastured in Custer, WA. I'll have to look that up. Gossner Cheese? Definitely not local, but still good. Most people who go here aren't looking for cheese anyway. Tourists and kids want chocolate or mango ice cream, or fudgy-wudgy. Who cares if they have a giant slab of smoked Tillamook cheddar from Oregon for an excellent price? I do! Forget fudgy-wudgy. I did not realize just how close Edaleen Dairy is to the border until recently. It is literally just off the round-about if you take the exit to downtown Blaine (historic center). The place was not that busy when we were there, just 1-2 customers in line. But the line stretched round a shelving unit after we sat down to enjoy our ice cream. Wow! I had the kids size or mini cone which was big to me. At US$1.50 (yes, price has gone up if you checked other pictures of the pricing), it was still a very good price to just have a cold treat before heading back to Vancouver. I enjoyed my coffee almond fudge. It was creamy but not as thick as ACME ice cream. I liked that water was available and there was also a washroom in there. You could also get coffee besides ice cream. Or you can stock up on eggs, milk and other smaller snacks before crossing the border. I will be back again whenever I cross the border now. read more

After checking out the dairy cases we lined up with the 10 or so others in the store to pick out our ice cream. There were 15 or so flavors to choose from and 3 flavors of soft serve. We all enjoyed what we chose- it was good, but we all agreed that it wasn't the best ice cream we'd ever had...it was good, though. Located on the main drag of downtown Blaine, right along the Canadian border, Edaleen is THE place to go for ice cream! They have a great selection of handmade flavors with fresh ingredients. We each got our own cones ... an apple crisp sort of concoction, a mint chocolate chip, and a chocolate fudge flavor. They were all amazing and so rich and sweet! They are also a little convenience type store that carries all things dairy - milk, cheese, snacks, etc. For those in the Chicagoland or Wisconsin area, they reminded us of an Oberweis. Every time I drive down to Blaine to pick up parcels from my PO box and get gas, I always stop by Edaleen dairy to get some ice cream. They are so generous with their ice cream that I can only manage to eat 1 scoop on a waffle cone. I'm pretty sure the last time I got a scoop, it was the size of a softball. They have many flavours to choose from but I always stick with my classic chocolate chip mint. They have hard and soft serve, milkshakes and other drinks. Besides ice cream, I like to browse their dairy fridges for cheap cheese, butter and desserts. Just remember you can only bring back $20 of dairy products back over to Canada if you are making a quick day trip. read more

With Our Great Virus, US-border-town Blaine (Canada doesn't want us infecting their populace) has become somewhat of a ghost town, but there was still action at Edaleen Dairy before noon on a Wednesday. A spacious store, no indoor seating and maybe one or two chairs outside (no patio), thereby making it imperative that we start frantically licking the ice cream to keep it from melting on a hot day before we even get to our cars. Edaleen is a chain of stores spread out around Whatcom County that sells cow to table-fresh dairy products. Besides bountiful ice cream and ice cream treats on tap there are gallon bucketfulls of the stuff in freezers, ice cream cakes and specialty treats, as well as your basic milk and milk-based products, such as cheese. Prices are reasonable for the location and serving sizes you get. While the store is open from noonish to early evening most days, it is (very sadly) closed on Sundays. While the rest of Blaine suffers with the lack of business, this Edaleen location always has long (socially-distanced) lines of locals and visitors alike. Close to the on-ramps to either I-5 north or south, ice cream from Edaleen is a panacea for our current condition and a must-stop if you're in this part of the world. read more
