Cherry Street Location in Tulsa, OK Today I wanted an hour for my food only for it to be made sloppy and with berries (I'm allergic to berries). When I arrived to request a refund I was met by an incompetent man who later I learned is the manager. He was rude and told me I was bringing back leftovers; he went on to say "you're not at Walmart you need a receipt." I had already showed him the receipt from my email because I do cashless transactions. He called another employee who tried to help him while he continued to speak very disrespectful and when I asked him not to disrespect me he continued and said "you can call whoever you want to call I don't care." That's when I went live on FB because he refused to give me his name so I could inform crushed red of his behavior. This is unacceptable especially since my business has purchased and gave away gift cards to help build this location. My girlfriend and I went for lunch January 20. What a lovely space, with a parking lot, in downtown Clayton. Neither of us have been there before, so we needed to get the lay of the land. We were early enough to get the rundown from the associates. She got a small salad and a flatbread. I got a regular salad ($6.75). I chose make it yourself. I got Romaine, tomatoes, Kalamata olives and feta. My salad was good. The ingredients were fresh. And I liked the combination I created. This is a great option. She enjoyed her salad and flatbread. Two words: Aesthetically pleasing. I have been dying to try Crushed Red since it opened and today was finally the day my taste buds got to experience what all the hype is about. Walking in for the first time was a little overwhelming, the line stretched to the door and I had no idea what was going on. When we walked to the end of the line, we were met with a very friendly hostess who explained the line concept and that we could sit where we'd like and our food would get delivered to our table. The line moved quickly and this place has their food preparation method down to a science. The first person you meet takes your "everything but salads" order, the next down the line is salads and the last is drinks. Now let me spend a moment to oggle the salad station. Awesome idea. Watching your salad get chopped up and prepared right in front of you with what looks like a handheld sickle-style knife is totally mesmerizing. The aesthetics of seeing all the "behind the scenes" preparation laid out before you is brilliant. We decided to sit out on the patio on this unusually warm, beautiful afternoon and loved all the mason jars and utensils already placed on the tables. The wicker seating is also a really nice touch, it's the perfect area to relax and enjoy your meal. We ordered a regular sized "South of the Border" salad that was very tasty. It had charred corn, avocado, mixed greens, tomatoes and low fat ranch and tortilla strips on top. It was a nice appetizer before our pizzas came out, and splitting the regular was just right for the two of us! Now these pizzas are great. It is more like a flatbread and I love that you have the option of building your own--with different types of dough!--but we decided to go with some of their creations. I ordered the Shrimp & Artichoke pizza and my friend had the Big Island. Both of these had wonderful blends of flavor. My shrimp and artichoke pizza was absolutely perfect: shrimp, basil, pesto, tomato, and artichoke were presented to me on a little platter with a great balance of toppings. My friend's had prosciutto, fresh (seriously, so sweet and crisp) pineapple and cilantro. The combo was great but we both gushed over mine the whole time. We just kept ooh-ing and aah-ing over the sweet crust, a complete success in our books. For the quality of the food you receive here, the prices are terrific. Let's talk about Crushed Red since everyone feels like they need to give it such high ratings and I don't think it is so deserved. I stopped in the other day, truly anxious to try out this fabulous "new" place. I am a bit of a pizza snob, so I really had high hopes. Although it wasn't awful, my experience didn't leave me wanting more. I don't mind the ordering style. I'm a proponent of ordering in line, taking a seat and getting food, so I was ok with this part of it. I ordered the pizza with tomato sauce, bacon, onion and jalapeno. This combo works in nearly setting, so I was excited. My fiancee ordered a bowl of the butternut squash soup and we found a seat. Her soup arrived a few minutes prior to my pizza. That's ok, but I don't really like it when some food arrives and others do not. It puts people in a position of "do I wait, or do I eat?" My pizza arrived, in a timely manner, and it looked pretty good. I'm not a fan of flatbread and this looked very much like flatbread, but the crust was actually quite good. the toppings were good, nothing fantastic, just ok. The sauce was very bland and didn't have any sort of taste to it. The sauce of a pizza should carry it's own weight without overpowering everything else. That doesn't mean it shouldn't have any taste at all and that's what I was dealing with here. My check-out experience was not that great either. I stood at the cashier's waiting to pay for my food and the lady seemed busy doing other stuff besides taking my money. I don't mind, as I realize I'm not the only person there, but a glance and a "I'll be right with you" goes a long way with me. Then there were no pleasantries exchanged. Not a "how's your day" or "It sure is cold" It was simply a "what's the name or order number" or however they figure out what you ordered. It was very "soup nazi" like. The butternut squash soup was ok, but it was too sweet. Butternut squash has a sweetness all on it's own, but this was over the top sweet. I also didn't care for the fact that I had to go to a separate area to get parm and red pepper. It was kind of "cool" to see the table for a decorative piece, but not very functional. I've already had to stand in line to order and now I have to get up again to get the stuff to make the other stuff tasty? Don't care for that. The service here is incredible. I go here for salads 4-5 times a week (to the point where the staff has memorized my order), and the staff is incredibly friendly. The manager almost always provides me a discount on my order and expresses how genuinely appreciative he is that I eat here as much as I do. The service I get every time that I come here is what I wish all restaurants provided. I truly wish there were more people like the manager who is there most of the time I eat at Crushed Red - he realizes that there are a number of other restaurants I could eat at, and his genuine appreciation and commitment to high quality service is exactly why I choose this over the other options. We've been hearing great reviews of Crushed Red for some time now and finally stopped by for dinner last week. I had the Yukon Gold Rush pizza and a mini Chipotle BBQ Chicken salad. I loved the salad and the pizza was good, but the Gorgonzola was a bit much for my taste. Jeremy ordered the Queen Margherita pizza and a mini Farmer's Market salad. He enjoyed both and I actually enjoyed his pizza more than my own. I liked the atmosphere and there was plenty of seating when we arrived around 6 on a Thursday. Overall impression: Above-average spot for a nice lunch or a casual dinner. Food: The chopped salads are the star of the menu. You order your food at a counter, so if you order a salad you'll watch the salad chef mix and chop it right in front of you. I opted for the southwest salad, and consequently got to watch the salad chef cut open a fresh avocado and scoop out a massive chunk to be plopped on the chopping block - talk about fresh. The salad itself was great, very bright and flavorful. The flatbread pizza was just okay. I tried the Margherita, with despite its name comes with pesto as its base sauce. The mozarella tasted very fresh, but the pesto itself was disappointingly bland and greasy. Fortunately the condiment counter contains an big jar of roasted garlic cloves, which helped amp up the flavor. My friend had better luck with a potato-bacon-rosemary pizza, but we still found the pizzas underwhelming. Drink: Crushed Red has a small but surprisingly good beer selection. I was happy to see several craft beers on draft, and they have a pretty good happy hour as well. Setting: While there's a great energy about the restaurant, something about the decoration read a little bit too corporate to me. Several walls are painted with snazzy, environment-positive phrases like "red is the new green" or "local is the new cool." But they also had a flatscreen tv displaying their happy hour times and website information - not exactly "green." I couldn't wait to have a Crushed Red salad (create your own) today because I hadn't had one in several months with the COVID-19 going on. I ordered the usual on-line and walked to pick it up, brought it back and it was so chincy and appeared to be missing some of he ingredients and contained about 3 shreds of cheddar cheese. Walked back and told them about it. They replaced it only to leave out the Granny Smith apples and probably provided 10 shreds of cheddar cheese. The manager or whoever gave me the salad said it had all of the ingredients. I'm just letting you know that this was a rather disappointing experience. The first one that I have had at this location ever. I'll give them another shot but they better put a little more a bit more cheddar cheese and make sure all ingredients are included. read more

I've been to Crushed Red many times for weekday lunches. Simply put, I'd give the salads 3.5 stars and pizza 1 star. You have a lot of options in ingredients for the chopped salad. The pizza dough is not freshly made and they taste like frozen pizza or worse.. They are also tiny!! Whereas the salads are in big bowls!! After revisiting Crushed Red, I had to give it three more stars. The first time we ventured to Crushed Red, I ordered a salad that I did not care for. This time around, I ordered the Welcome Back Cobber and the Butternut Squash soup. The soup was fantastic! Butternut Squash soup is my absolute favorite, so when I saw it was on the menu, I jumped at the chance to try it. It was the perfect combo of sweet and salty. I didn't expect it to be that great since this type of soup is usually served in the fall, but it was delicious. The salad was exponentially better than my last visit. The Welcome Back Cobber is usually served with mixed greens, but I subbed romaine. It was chopped with eggs, avocado, bacon, chicken, and really flavorful bleu cheese. The dressing was a Goddess dressing, and it was fresh tasting and complemented the chopped salad very nicely. I'm glad I made a return trip to Crushed Red. I'm a little late to the Crushed Red table, they're already opening a second location in Kirkwood, MO! I do enjoy a good gourmet pizza and was really disappointed when Il Vicino closed down a few years back. But this place isn't just a pizza joint it really is a "chop shop". I wasn't expecting a line similar to a buffet line when I walked in but that is kind of how you order. There are digital menus, paper menus and a chalk board with food items and ingredients. You order your salad first and they do have a large number of them. We ordered the Farmer's Market salad, a large to share, Fire Roasted Veggie and Chicken Gorgonzola pizza. The pizza size isn't very big, but it is enough. This is a nice break from the bigger is better mentality. Both pizzas were a little bland. Fresh ingredients and a nice presentation but just not much "punch" for taste. I did dip into the large vat of roasted garlic that they have at their condiment table and that helped! Garlic makes everything better, especially pizza. In my opinion the salad was better than the pizza but I will have to order a different pizza next time. The environment was pleasant and very bistro-ish. I would really like to check out their patio but it was too cool the evening we visited. Overall a nice addition to the Clayton restaurant scene that was long overdue for a visit from me. I'll be back but maybe make my own pizza next time! read more

Best chopped salads I have ever had!! I've been here a dozen times for lunch... I hate that they don't have enough parking so I have to drive around looking for a meter! But the food is totally worth it :). My favorite salad: South of the Border (add Black Beans)... i like that it is not drowning in dressing... love the fresh avocado and roasted corn. Favorite pizza: Oh :( I don't think I can pick just 1.... the 4 cheese is good and the corn and asparagus is super yummy with the pesto!!! Stewart P., Jason, my friend Alena, and I went to Crushed Red for the first time on Monday evening. It was moderately busy but not to the point where we had to wait in line. Prior to ordering we all decided that we would get a pizza each and share among each other. This proved to be a success and we all were quite filled after the fact. I ordered a build your own - prosciutto, Yukon Gold potatoes, Roma tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella. Alena got the Queen Margherita - basil pesto sauce, mozzarella, Roma tomato and fresh basil. Jason had the Chipotle BBQ Chicken which had chipotle bbq, oven-roasted chicken, black beans, roasted corn, caramelized onion and pepper jack cheese. Stewart got the Yukon Gold Rush pizza. It has Parmesan cream, hickory bacon, sliced Yukon gold potatoes, olives, rosemary with gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese. To be honest, I think I could have created something better. Turns out I enjoyed Jason and Alena's pizza the most. Stewart's really good too minus the olives... I am not a fan of olives. I found that my pizza was a bit overwhelming with the added potatoes and quite similar to what Stewart ordered anyway, hence why I liked the others better than my own. It seemed bland. I take responsibility for that though. Ambiance of the place is cool. With the open rafters in the ceiling and the very open space, it creates a certain urban industrial feel if that makes sense. Prices are nice. I definitely can appreciate a restaurant that doesn't charge anything over $8 for an entree and you still get filled up. They don't half ass the portions. The portions are the right amount for someone who is truly hungry for a whole meal or someone who isn't that hungry and just wants to take leftovers home. I think I would like to try a salad next time. For the women in front of us in the line who did order them -- I could overhear them saying how impressed they where with being able to watch it being created. Side note and personal opinion -- Crushed Red took a failed concept from STL. Bread Co. and turned it into the core of the restaurant. The crispani pizza at Bread Co was a flop. One of the major players is a former Bread Co higher up who probably had a hand in that. Don't believe me? Read the story of the place. It actually lists who are the owners and what they do for a living. You can find this on your table. I hope they do better with this concept than Bread Co. did. I think the whole ordering deal is confusing too. It didn't seem like they had it together. Every time you gave your order, they would have to explain to you how it works. You can't see the register from the ordering counter due to a huge brink pillar that obstructs your view from seeing it. Why do you need to go to two spots for ordering/paying if you aren't going to order the salad and watch it being made? It seems like an unnecessary extra step that isn't needed. I do like it, but hopefully as time progresses they will get the kinks sorted so they will be a long lasting Clayton establishment. I was soo dissatisfied with this place. My sister eats here on a regular and loves their salads. For my first and last ever visit I ordered the Welcome Back Cobber, minus the chicken, substituted with steak instead. The salad comes with goddess dressing. This salad was beyond bland and disgusting, even with all the other ingredients. The salad tasted like it was missing something.... FLAVOR!!!!!. I make a better salad myself at home. My lab came here for lunch a while back. After looking at the menu, I decided I wanted pizza. Pizza here is DELICIOUS! The crust was wonderful and fluffy and the toppings were perfect as well! A friend of mine got a salad and watched gleefully as everything was chopped up for her. She commented over food at how much fun it was! They have a roasted garlic station. OK, nothing special. Pizza-like oblongs are OK, quick. Salads involve a lot of chopping, but are otherwise regular salads in slanted bowls. Beer is good deal during happy hour (but at regular price, wait til you're home). The outdoor dining area looks great, and since it is on the West side of the building, it may be shady and useable during mild summer days. Kudos on the design. But .... Why-Oh-Why-Oh-Why do they insist on having Fox News on the TVs??? This alone really deserves demotion to 2 stars or fewer. And since there is no audio, why? This restaurant clearly seeks to attract a hip clientele, so it is befuddling that they would have Fox on the Tube. Hey guys, Fox is not hip or trendy. And it alters the palatability of the food. I ordered the This Pear is on Fire salad AGAIN because it is that good. I shared it with my husband and he enjoyed it too. You must like spicy though because it has a habanero honey vinaigrette. I also ordered a Yukon potato and steak flatbread - which was delicious. The crust of the flatbreads is so airy, it's fantastic. I got the kids a cheese pizza and a side of shrimp (my daughter loves shrimp). They devoured all their food. We got a cookie to share and my hubby got a beer. This is one of those situations where I'd really wished Yelp had some 1/2 star ratings available and I'm a pretty tough grader. I'd go 3.5. I think it is better than the average offering out there, but I'm not quite ready to go on the stump for them either. I will say that the items we did order met up to the Crush Red's story which we read from the card left on the table. The food was fresh tasting and fairly portioned for the price. And I'm a fan of the fast-casual format, though I admit I'm still confused on how to really handle tipping, i.e. I tipped here, but not at a Panera. As a vegan/sometimes vegetarian, I have to give strong props for their lentil soup. It was excellent...very flavorful without trying to be overly spicy, salty, etc...just a good honest richness that was great on such a cold evening. I also had one of their shareables (sp?), Urban Zest, which really was basically a sun dried tomato pesto served with some lavash and flatbread. Again, brought a lot of fresh flavors without being obnoxious. My wife had one of their salads, which I didn't try, but honestly didn't seem all that appetizing. Perhaps the whole mezzaluna attack of lettuce and other ingredients makes for a good floor show, but I'd be just as happy with it tossed and served from its own bowl instead of the communal chopping area. She had their fire roasted veggie pizza. I'd say more of a flatbread than the titled "pies", but lets not get too picky about it. Then again, lets. When I think pizza, I think saucy, cheesy, with just ample, but not abundant toppings. Zesty sauces and strngy cheeses are key. In this case, the sauce/cheese was quite underplayed allowing perhaps too many toppings to shine through. This is flatbread, to me anyway. And a great example of it as well. Too different types of conveyances, but important to set expectations accordingly. Great flatbread, but don't expect it to be a pizza. Get it? Nice cozy setting, though they can't totally be blamed for the sparse parking. Glad we went in the evening...can't imagine a lunch time unless you work in the area and can walk there. I would have liked someone coming by offering to go fill a drink for you, but that is again perhaps trying to expect too much from the fast-casual format. I'm really obsessed with the salads at Crushed Red. My favorite order is the BBQ Chicken Salad because it's seriously the best. I love that they chop the salads up really small and they also give you a generous portion of chicken. It reminds me a lot of the salad place Chop't in NYC. It's confusing to most people that walk-in. *** Having the utensils in mason jars already at the table is a good idea as long as your staff routinely goes around and makes sure the mason jars are replenished. You can tell right away that these people are doing something right. It was 2pm and the line was still 20 people deep. Granted, the line moves, but it's hard to get over the initial line shock when you walk in the door. I was meeting a girlfriend for lunch with my son. I got the Farmer's Market chopped salad that was great! Not too much dressing and I really love how much they chop it, made it far cleaner to eat and well you know, led to less socially awkward eating. My 8-year old wanted a kids pepperoni pizza, but we were told they didn't do small pepperoni, which is ridiculous if you ask me as they do offer a kids cheese pizza. So he ended up with a small pizza for $7.50. I get the whole build you own pizza racket, but $6 to start and then just keeping adding to the tab ($1.50 for pepperoni on a pizza the side of my hands). Yes, I'm rolling my eyes here people. Kid also got a salad, he's no cheap date here folks, and ate everything willingly. I was very disappointed in my last visit to crushed red! I have visited many times and had good experience but had not been in a year or so. Service was rude and unprofessional. We ordered 2 salads and took a few bites and left both of them without eating...what a waste of $20. The restaurant was dirty, our salads were so over dressed and had lots of scrap ingredients that we didn't even order in them due to dirty work stations. I have been twice and between the two visits tried salads, pizza and soup. All of the are great. Salad: I like that you can make your own or they have suggestions. I also LOVE that they mix and then chop the salad finely, it makes a salad so much better. Pizza: These pizza's are made for 1 or 2 if you aren't that hungry. They are really good and the toppings were great. Everything here seems really fresh and the ingredients are high quality. The service is also very quick. You arrive and stand in a line (sort of like a sandwich shop) and order your items and watch them create your food as you progress through the line to pay. I ordered a small salad and pizza. They combine great fresh ingredients. You get to choose where you sit. The atmosphere is great here! You get the feeling of a fancier restaurant even though it is pretty casual. I really would like to rate this place a 3.5, and the reason is that you get a cafeteria-like experience. It is as expensive as a sit down served dinner (you even tip them for making the food), but it is a quick eating experience. It had been awhile since I had been here because I felt the salads were overly chopped, borderline pulverized and the chicken had an odd flavor to it. Today I decided to give it another shot. Although the salad tasted better, chicken was good and I stopped them from pulverizing my salad, the music was just way too loud in here. You couldn't even properly communicate with the person making the salad because of it. Not sure why basically a lunch place has to be almost as loud as a night club. Let me start by saying that the salad selection is great and I've enjoyed every salad I've tried here. But today I tried the pizza with Gluten Free crust. The toppings were yummy but the crust was awful. You have to find a better GF crust guys, seriously. It was spongy and mealy- totally a texture issue- the flavor was ok. Like if I didn't mind eating herb flavored cardboard it would've been great. It's REALLY hard to duplicate the chewy yet tender texture of wheat dough, but in my case I'd rather you don't offer it at all if its not great. Crushed Red, I've got a crush on you! I went to this place hoping for a quick take out dinner and got so much more! When we walked in, I absolutely loved the decor. Super cute "chandeliers" that are actually lights inside mason jars. So cool! Lots of wood and mason jars in this place. So you start by getting in line. First you order pizza. They have a lot of "crafted pie" choices or you can create your own. I opted for the queen margherita, very good!! Next, you move down the line to order salad. They again have several "crafted salads" or you can create your own. I got the health nut salad and it was outstanding! I wish I could get it everyday!! Only thing is that they were out of edamame, so I was a little sad about that. I think the best part of Crushed Red is their philosophy of what a resturant should be. I happened to pick up the flyer they had at the front that tells their story, and about their food. In their story it says, "they sought out to create the perfect fast-casual resturant in St. Louis that offered quick service, moderate prices, and a menu that was fresh, wholesome and all natural." It's the kind of place you can call in an order and go pick it up in sweats, or you could dine in and spend all night grazing the menu. It's Awesome! If I could give 6 stars I would. I LOVE this place. Why haven't I find this place before. Kind of set up similar to a Chipotle or Qdoba...but for Pizza and Salads. My first time I tried the 5 cheese pizza and the farmers market salad. WOW...so good. The pizza was fresh and so good. I loved the Options to have fresh parmesan cheese and crushed pepper bar. My salad was even better. It was fresh and the dressing was so good. It had cranberries, chicken, apples, sunflower seeds, and goat cheese. Service was fast although they were busy each time I went. A little confusing because you order your pizza first with one person and then Order your salad with another group of people. The positive is you can order whatever you want on your salad if you don't want to try what they have on their menu. read more

I really enjoy their salads; fresh and flavorful. Atmosphere is great to just hang out and watch sports. 4 stars because it's somewhat pricey for what you get and the pizza/flat breads are nothing to go bonkers over...again pricey. read more
