In the Club Flat
Ebuwa E.

An accidental find while winding through the STL Art Fair! The menu was easy to follow, the staff were attentive, and the ambiance was welcoming. I had the In the Club flat top with a comforting cup of butternut squash soup. Simple, amazing fare. I will dine here again!

Crushed Red is an absolute gem for anyone looking for fresh, flavorful, and fast dining. The staff is friendly, efficient, and always welcoming. Highly recommend for a delicious, health-conscious meal!

Welcome back cobber is my go to salad. Chicken, bacon and avocado ought to be a love song. Salads are good but pricey. Rewards program is average, could be more rewarding given the price of salads. Layout of the restaurant is weird and dark. Seating is plentiful both inside and out. Service is decent but almost too chill. Employees can be loud of some occasions. Overall a decent spot. I go at least once every 2-3 months.

I will never stop obsessing over Crushed Red! I have been a regular for quite awhile now, and I've never had a bad experience. Employees are friendly and efficient. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, and I really like to eat on their outdoor patio when the weather is warm. I am very loyal to the Health Nut salad. I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of their other salads, but I fell in love with the Health Nut immediately and never looked back. In my opinion, chopped salads are much easier to eat and taste so much better. Crushed Red finely chops all of your salad ingredients right in front of you and mix it up well to ensure a blended taste with every bite. I also highly recommend the Sassy Sicilian Pick Up Stix. Such a unique balance of sweet and spicy, and they are perfect for sharing. I've heard that some people compare this place to a nicer version of Panera. While I see some similarities, I would say that Crushed Red uses much higher quality ingredients and offers a more personalized experience.

Sometimes you really want a salad. The food, service & the ambiance is great here. Nice warm and inviting. They somehow make salads feel like comfort food. The teas and lemonades in the fountain drink area are delicious. The bottled drinks are unique and worth trying. They have signature salads but you can totally create your own or add to their offering. I always get Kalamata olives in mine. The flavor with the dressing and the feta just pops! The hubby got a flat bread pizza. He enjoyed it. I have never had the pizza but they did bring us a warm sliced flat bread to eat with our meal. It was light fluffy and just all around a good idea. I'll make sure I get one next time. Go ahead and try this place. It's good!

If all of your heroes are dead And are survived by morons instead Then wait until March Then head for the Arch For St. Louis' Salad: Crushed Red. So the colours had a competition, and Hot Pink was the overall winner. Barbi made sure of it. Hot Pink narrowly defeated Turquoise Caribbean Blue and Sunset Yellow and Holland Orange, then came up against Lucifer Red in the final. Of course, Hot Pink only went and Crushed Red, and the rest is history. I generally love salad places because they're healthy and sometimes filling, but there are so many bad ones that you start to go in expecting a bad meal, and I didn't expect much out of this chain in St Louis - and I didn't get much, but at least it didn't fall short of the expectations I had, despite not really exceeding them at all. So all in all I'd say it was a mixed bag, but definitely nothing bad. If this is the go-to salad chain for St Louis though, then the city needs a rival, because this isn't close to the level of - for example - Salata, based in Houston and available all over Texas, which would do probably quite well in St Louis if this place does well. Although Salata expanded to Atlanta and their locations there were weak and a pale resemblance of the Texan versions, so maybe Crushed Red would still crush it if Salata came to town. But Salata has much bigger portions and more selection and fresher ingredients - although it's very inconsistent by location. Places like Sweetgreen and Chopt (East Coast chains) have similar pricing, sizes and options, but they're a little higher in quality.

My sister took me to this lunch spot in Clayton and pitched it to me as a nicer, on-off Panera - and I believe this was largely accurate. Their menu has a wide array of soup, salad, sandwiches, and flatbreads. It is a little more interesting that you typical lunch place and I appreciated the innovative ways they use flatbreads to fill out their menu. We were there for an early weekday lunch and Crushed Red was practically empty. We split hummus and I got a Chicken Caesar flatbread and Butternut Squash soup. All of the food was really good but also very expensive. I did appreciate how the portion sizes were not massive. Perfect for lunch. One unique thing about this place is the pepper bar that they have available as self-service in the middle of the retsuraunt. I liked this as a self-service option if you want to spice up your meal. They also allow you to endlessly customize your salad should you choose to get one. This place was good, not great. I would recommend it for a work lunch or a quick bite but it is nothing special.

We had a flatbread bonanza and it was fantastic!

Brought my team here and it was perfect - there were 6 of us and the flatbreads are sliced into 6 pieces so the math was mathing wonderfully! We also tried the goat cheese dip and the hummus dip and it was so good we didn't realize we'd forgotten to take a photo until we were fully finished! Weather was bad and it was slow and the staff was so kind and cheerful and attentive!

Not sure why it took me so long to check this place out, but glad I finally did! I went in, being in the mood for something healthier and lighter. The emerald coast salad was absolutely amazing, as was the tunapalooza my GF ordered. The staff is friendly, and the place is cute and trendy. My only gripe is that the prices seem a tad high. That said, I look forward to going back and trying more salads as well as trying their pizza!

Small South of the Border

Ordered a small salad. Wasn't even much of a salad in the to go container. Looks more like a MINI SALAD! Crushed Red - can't cheap out on the quantity of your food! The salad isn't even filled to the top!

The Best Dining Experience We've Had in St. Louis - Hands Down…read moreMy husband and I wanted to give our dear friends who are leaving St. Louis one last unforgettable meal from their bucket list, so I immediately recommended Peno. I used to be a regular at Rosé with the same talented Chef Pepe, and his food is truly to die for. We walked in on a beautiful day and were lucky to snag a spot in their small parking lot (parking in the area isn't the easiest, but it's worth it). Our server, Harry, made the evening even better right from the start. He had such a warm, calm, professional presence--the kind that's rare these days. We instantly remembered his name thanks to a fun Harry Potter / Harry and the Hendersons reference, and he handled everything with effortless skill. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. You won't regret it. Thank you, Harry and team--you helped create a truly special send-off for our friends!

Id like to add one more comment. I started my meal with the Tucci salad. It was supposed to have…read moreroasted red peppers(it had one strip), olives(it had one) onions(it had one small piece) and beans(there were three). A large amount of mozzarella-looked like Provel on top. I did call over the server to clarify if this was what this salad was supposed to be - mostly lettuce. She said yes then brought over a small plate with a few olives. Again, this salad was $15. It must have cost Peno a dollar to make because it was mostly lettuce. I live a few blocks from Peno and love the idea of a neighborhood restaurant we can all embrace. Sadly, I won't be back.

During our latest visit, we ordered the chicken parmesan, lasagna, and rigatoni without lobster, and started with the arancini balls. Every dish was absolutely fantastic, but the real star of the night was the lasagna. This restaurant's lasagna is truly one of a kind and unlike anything you've probably tasted before. It's layered with pistachios, pesto, and squash, creating such a unique balance of creamy, nutty, and savory flavors. It was rich without feeling too heavy, and every bite felt incredibly comforting yet elevated at the same time. Definitely one of my favorite lasagnas ever. Their wine selection never disappoints either. I've also tried a couple of their bourbon cocktails, including the "For the Streets" and the "Black Manhattan," and both were amazing. We kicked things off with the toasted ravioli, and I can honestly say they are some of the best in St. Louis. You can tell they are handmade in-house--perfectly crispy on the outside with a delicious, savory filling that pairs beautifully with the marinara. We also shared the prosciutto di parma, which was sliced thin and had a wonderful, authentic flavor that set a high bar for the rest of the night. For the main course, we tried two very different but equally amazing dishes: Pepperoni Pizza: The addition of hot honey was a game-changer. It added a bold, spicy kick that balanced the salty pepperoni perfectly. Cacio e Pepe: This was truly spectacular. It's a simple dish that is hard to get right, but this was easily the best I've ever had outside of Rome. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the peppery flavor was throughout. To drink, we ordered the Old Dolce Vita, their unique take on an Old Fashioned. It was expertly crafted and really showed off their skills behind the bar--smooth, balanced, and a great companion to the meal. Our server was fantastic--attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, but also gave us plenty of time to relax and enjoy our conversation. We never felt rushed, which made for a perfectly paced and memorable dinner. We will definitely be back
